8421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reports of China Banning Bitcoin Are Greatly Exaggerated on: December 25, 2016, 07:07:31 AM
On November 3 the Bitcoin price took a dive from a high of US$745 to a low of $675 with news of China circling the internet. A so-called report from the publication Bloomberg had other media outlets assume that China was planning on curbing Bitcoin use in the near future. However, the reports have remained unconfirmed, and many believe the headline was fictitious.

https://news.bitcoin.com/reports-china-bitcoin-exaggerated/

It doesn`t make any sense for China to ban bitcoin.

China controls bitcoin, why would they ban it.

Merry Christmas,by the way Grin
8422  Economy / Economics / Re: Banning Usury will promote cryptocurrencies on: December 24, 2016, 07:23:30 AM

Why not ban Usury?

Before attempting to answer the question, I'll lay out a "best case"
for an economy. The USA has the best data, so it's the choice.

If the USA continues its present course, except that spending
on Defence and they somehow manage to keep the present trade balance
then I suggest the following outcomes in ten years time:
Wages and prices will double, there will be a ten percent increase
in population and in real GDP, and the national debt will increase
from $20Tn to 30Tn.

In real terms, defence spending halves, the trade balance halves,
and the US national debt falls by one third. Pensions and entitlements
increase in line with inflation, and employment remains near it's
present level.

While I expect things will turn out worse than that, if you want to
make a case for banning Usury, you'd best think of ways to improve
economic performance, because present economics relies totally on
the ability to charge interest. Bear in mind also, that when you
strip away things like the power to create debt, you may find that
things like GDP are no more substantial than the imaginings of a
collective delusion.

It seems to me that promoting cryptocurrencies, for example Bitcoin,
promotes the idea of a ban on Usury, because it would be difficult to
have one without the other. I'm keen to hear any views on why that
isn't a good idea.

What is Usury?I`ve never heard about this.

Paper money and central banks mean only one thing-debt.

All the world economies are addicted to debt. They need debt to maintain economic growth.

Are cryptocurrencies the solution?
8423  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin in 2017 on: December 24, 2016, 07:18:02 AM
anyone can give out your opinion about bitcoin in 2017 please

will growing trend keep continue in 2017 ?

do you think it good oppotunies for more shop accepted bitcoin ( paypal, amazon ?)

which country market will be the central for bitcoin in 2017 ( india , china ?  )

Amazon or paypal or any other internet giant will never accept bitcoin.

China will remain the country with the most bitcoin miners.

2017 will be more like 2016 ,if you ask me.
8424  Economy / Speculation / Re: And 2016’s best-performing commodity is ... bitcoin? on: December 23, 2016, 02:47:10 PM
Yes everyone will agree, hopefully in 2017 is better than 2016. I hope in February 2017 the price reach $1,000 and December 2017 reach $2,000. It's time time to buying bitcoin.

I think the price will go down after January 2017 and after that will continue to increase slowly.

I`m not such optimist about reaching $2000, but bitcoin is still strong.
8425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling be considered a "high risk investment"? on: December 23, 2016, 06:56:54 AM
I know it isn't an investment, but in the last few years some "high risk" investment funds have appeared, and in them you can either lose it all or earn a lot of money.

Isn't this basically the same as gambling? Wouldn't it be faster to just deposit the amount in a casino? At least you'd be able to spend your earnings much sooner Cheesy

Yes and no.Real investing is about  lowering the risk with diversifying the accets.

Never keep all your eggs in one backet.

Real gambling is about waiting for the right time to play your cards and playing all in...

Alibaba’s Jack Ma: “Everyone Should Have a Bank Account.”

https://news.bitcoin.com/techfin-alibabas-jack-ma-bank-account/

What do you think about this?

Yeah, everyone should have a bank account to buy Alibaba products with his/hers debit/credit card.

This is Jack Ma point of view.

Alibaba will never accept bitcoin as a payment method.
8427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for effective methods? on: December 23, 2016, 06:47:06 AM
I'm a new person involved in bitcointalk forum, I want to make Bitcoin, the method to get Bitcoin on the internet that I have read as:
1. typing to make Bitcoin free capcha => has been very little, your computer vulnerable to viruses invade
2. Investment in the website => almost all are scams
3. gamble => this is a violation of law
Please share with me what do I do to get Bitcoin?

Gambling isn`t a violation of law.It depends of the country you live.

Sell goods and services for btc or join a sig campaign. Those are the most legit methods to  get

some btc.
8428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: December 22, 2016, 12:41:41 PM
Bitcoin is being used widely in porn sites, gambling and drug dealing sectors. Is that why the btc made for ? I have seen a lot of members in this forum discussing about buying drugs, gambling and enjoying porn with bitcoin. Is not it a misuse of a currency ? Block chain tech is a awesome tech and btc is getting popular. I hate these misuses of precious btc. It hurts me. This will lead into unhealthy society along with unhealthy future generation.

Unfortunately bitcoin is still a sort of underground currency.

People are free to use their money for whatever they like.

If they like porn, gambling and grugs that`s their problem. They will use either bitcoin or fiat money to buy

this.
8429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC38 hot wallet got hacked and lost 1.5 million on: December 22, 2016, 12:38:06 PM
2 hours later, another 8btc thread  gave out the true reason: BTC38 was hit by a hacker with approximate loss of 1.5 million RMB.

“As a result of the server logic problems on 21st Dec, more than 10 million Bitshares, over 10 million NXT and some BTC/LTC were stolen from the exchange’s hot wallet (estimated total loss of  1.5 million RMB). We shut down the server immediately and stayed up all night to fix the problem. We have reviewed our wallet deployment plan and made new adjustments. We will take full responsibility for the total loss of the digital asset (market buyback).” The most important assurance is that all funds are safe in the hands of BTC38.
BTC38 explained the delay to calm down the market:“As we are currently redeploying the wallet, the service for certain coins will be resumed gradually.”

http://news.8btc.com/exclusive-btc38-hot-wallet-got-hacked-and-lost-1-5-million

Every time when the bitcoin price  increases and hits the roof(like today) there are some hackers who

steal X million of btc from some exchange platform or wallet and btc price does down.

Next year i`m waiting for the next bitfinex.
8430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do any people gamble under the age of 18? on: December 22, 2016, 06:40:33 AM
I want to know if anyone here gambles or have gambled under the age of 18, I feel like there are many kids who do this and I am interested to see how many people actually gamble under 18, if you have any friends that gamble or have gambled under 18 include them.

EDIT: I mean mostly kids online, its hard to be a kid and gamble physically. I feel like the gambling rate for kids is increasing a lot and is gonna be a problem in the future, especially with the CS:GO situation.

EDIT2: Another question to ask, is what is your opinion on the topic of kids gambling, do you think it is a growing problem or a problem alone for that matter?

EDIT3: What is the best way to counter this problem without websites having to know your exact identity?

Do online casinos allow people under 18 to gamble?

Are there any restrictions?Perhaps the legit casinos should require at least ID verification.

Kids could very easy fall into gambling addiction...
8431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trump picks "Bitcoin Congressman" Mulvaney for budget chief among others. on: December 22, 2016, 06:36:18 AM
Trump picks 'Bitcoin Congressman" Mulvaney for budget chief among others. Mulvaney has been a consistent Bitcoin proponent and while some do not agree with Trump's policy, his picks can do extreme good for Bitcoin.

https://mulvaney.house.gov/media-center/articles-op-eds/sc-republican-among-founders-congressional-bitcoin-caucus

Mulvaney,
"Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize the financial services industry, the U.S. economy, and the delivery of government services, and I am proud to be involved with this initiative on the ground floor." He also praised bitcoin as a currency that is "not manipulatable by any government."

Here are other Bitcoin proponents in Trump's movement,

Peter Thiel (Trump's advisory board), investor in Bitpay and vocal supporter of Bitcoin.

Elon Musk (Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum), publicly said that Bitcoin is "probably a good thing"

Indra Nooyi (Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum), publicly supported blockchain, called it "the technology that could profoundly impact the way we manage issues of trust, security and privacy for years to come"

Ginni Rometty (Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum), a vocal advocate of blockchain: “The blockchain will do for transactions what the internet did for information.”

Musk said that bitcoin is "probably a good thing"?

I can only laugh.... Grin

Anyway, this might be good for bitcoins and the other cryptocurrencies.
8432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is not supported in some countries? on: December 22, 2016, 06:33:42 AM
I have heard that bitcoin is not supported in some countries. But why ? Is it because bitcoin is risky ? Some countries even declare 6 months jail if her people use bitcoin. Is it fair ? I mined few cryptos and have left mining. It was fun and challenging too. But I never got any clear answer. What does my gpu actually do ? I pay electric bill, my room temperature goes high and I get paid. With actually no skill on pc hardware and software. Whole thing is still pretty unclear to me

You have a Senoir member account here at Bitcointalk and you still don`t understand

how bitcoin and the other cryptos work?Really?

Politicians and government clerks who don`t understand bitcoin usually ban it.
8433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers Have Stolen Millions Of Dollars In Bitcoin -- Using Only Phone Numbers on: December 22, 2016, 06:30:33 AM
Article at link:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2016/12/20/hackers-have-stolen-millions-of-dollars-in-bitcoin-using-only-phone-numbers/#3e024ad522db

Lessons learned:
2FA using SMS is badly compromised.
You can't outsource your computer/cryptocurrency security to a 3rd party like your phone carrier. It's a recipe for disaster.
Hackers are targeting prominent bitcoiners - but it's only a matter of time for the rest of us.
Thieves are impersonating prominent bitcoiners, asking friends for "loans" of BTC (etc) - which just means more victims.
It's not just bitcoins - bank accounts and everything else are vulnerable. (And you can't fix those with a Trezor or paper wallet.)

What else?

Let`s just stop using bitcoins and stop online banking because of the hackers. Grin

Let`s use only gold and silver coins for trading purposes.

Hackers can`t hack gold and silver coins. Grin Just kidding.

Hackers are a serious problem.
8434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the location affect when we gamble? on: December 21, 2016, 12:02:04 PM
I still wondered after watching one dice gambling tips on youtube. she suggested to use a vpn American countries. Do you think the state and affect our current location to gamble? , please give your opinion

I quess that gambling is forbidden is some US states and there are more liberal gambling laws in other states.

Other than this,i don`t think that the location will affect anything.
8435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What gambling method are you using for Dice? on: December 21, 2016, 11:59:33 AM
i have been playing dice for a very long time and all this time i have been trying so many different gambling strategies.

1) martingale strategy (the common way)
the normal/common way of using the 2x multiplier and increasing the bet size 100% on lose.

2) martingale strategy with different multiplier
the same thing but with different multipliers hence different increase on lose.

3) Anti-Martingale
also known as reverse martingale. which is the same thing as martingale but you reduce the bet on loss and increase on win.

4) Random bets
whenever i am tired or just want to have some fun i make random bets. i choose some random amount, multiplier and click roll and this is actually pretty interesting strategy because the outcome always surprises me.

5) if you have any other strategy please share it here with us.

Edit: i am not talking about a dice method for 100% win rate! that would be absurd. i am asking which method you like better, and enjoy using or have better results.

The martingale method and all it`s twists never works.

I don`t know why do you suggest it.

I place random bets and depend on my intuition.
8436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your pain and problems in the bitcoin world on: December 21, 2016, 11:57:00 AM
I would like to know what is your pain and the problems that you face the most with the bitcoin technology?

For myself, when I started was how to send and receive bitcoins. Also, took me a long time to understand the value and the difference between the Satoshi and Bitcoins.

For me the biggest problem is the risk involved with buying and selling bitcoins for fiat.

There is always a fear that the other guy will chargeback and you get scammed.
8437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Bitcoin ransomware report- 11.9% victim pay to recover their files on: December 21, 2016, 11:54:39 AM
Qihu 360, the leading IT company in China, releases an annual report on the development of ransomware in China and predicts 10 times growth of potential victims or 50 million in 2017.

http://news.8btc.com/chinese-bitcoin-ransomware-report-11-9-victim-pay-to-recover-their-files

I know that bitcoin payments are irreversible, but there should be a way to refund those nasty

ransom payments. This creates a bad reputation for bitcoin.
8438  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: LONG TERM BITCOIN BUYERS on: December 21, 2016, 11:50:50 AM
In traditional investments, long term is most often considered to be a minimum of 5 years. But bitcoin seems to live its life in hyper drive, hence the question to the bitcoin world, what is long term to the average bitcoin investor?

For me the long term bitcoin investor holds his bitcoins for more than 1 year.

It depends of the  bitcoin price, not the time people are holding their bitcoins.
8439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: December 21, 2016, 07:12:39 AM
Go guys!
In many cultures and countries is gambling consider as a bad thing which only the poorest and silliest ones do. Many gamblers try to hide that they gamble from their friends and families and feel really shameful for that. Do you consisted gambling as a bad thing? Do you feel shameful or proud for being a gambler? If it is shame what you feel what do you about it? How do you hide you're a gambler and who do you hide it from?
Let others know!

If i gamble with my own money-no.

If i had to borrow money from someone to gamble-definitely yes.

But i will never borrow money to gamble,so it`s ok.
8440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin Proof on: December 21, 2016, 07:09:43 AM
Is wallet the only proof one has of his bitcoin?
Can it be owned or kept in any other way? Like in literal or real rather than currently available only virtual way?
So all the bitcoin one owns is actually the wallet/s he has?

No,bitcoin can be printed.You don`t always need a wallet.

Why are you asking such question?

If you ask me,i don`t want to keep btc on my PC.I can lose them if the PC gets broken. Sad
