8481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Now FREE to JOIN] IPL 2019 Prediction Pool and discussion on: May 09, 2019, 12:46:06 PM
By the way, question to you and also to Haunebu: Since we are only three and there is a prize for forth position too. Clearly there are no one for that to clam. What do you guys think the best will be for the amount we had for 4th position.

1. Split equally to all three of us.
2. Give it to a charity. I have seen a member is working hard to raise fund for charity. I have them in mind.

Let me know.
Easy decision. Number 2 all the way since I personally had fun predicting along with you guys through out this IPL 2019 season and donating the funds to a legit charity would be great.

Also, I hope you come up with another betting game just like this one for the upcoming World Cup.
8482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is irreversible: strength and weakness on: May 09, 2019, 12:40:23 PM
Irreversible transactions are a huge advantage ,if you compare crypto to the paypal scam.In PayPal,you have to rely on the mercy of their dispute resolution process and the mercy of your customers.
I agree. Paypal chargebacks are a menace and have affected me and many people so many times and Paypal does not care most of the time which is why I personally support the irreversible nature of BTC.

There is no guarantee that there won't be any more scams even if BTC TXs becomes reversible in nature.
8483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How blockchain technology is changing the world on: May 09, 2019, 12:38:00 PM
The entire world is really aware of the immense contribution that the blockchain technology could offer to our world but due to the green and selfishness of men most governments are calling it something bad and not worthy of accepting. The blockchain technology offers full transparency and this could really help reduce corruption in various countries.
Have you been living under a rock? The governments around the world have openly expressed their admiration for the blockchain tech powering Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market though only some of them support crypto. Examples:

8484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Now FREE to JOIN] IPL 2019 Prediction Pool and discussion on: May 09, 2019, 10:54:16 AM
Here is my prediction for the playoffs and finals:

Qualifier 1: MI vs CSK: MI win, since CSK is not in great form
Eliminator: DC vs SRH: Win for DC
Qualifier 2: DC vs CSK: Win for DC

Finals: DC vs MI: MI wins the tournament.

Till now, both of my predictions were accurate.

And for my 3rd prediction, I had favored the Delhi Capitals for the second qualifier, which will take place in Visakhapatnam. Here are my points:

1. DC is in very good recent form, while CSK has lost 5 out of their last 7 matches.
2. Talking about the top order, Shane Watson looks very much out of form as CSK is struggling to build opening partnerships. For DC, Shaw/Dhawan are doing OK.
3. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are in good form and strengthens the middle order for DC, while apart from Dhoni the CSK middle order looks very weak.
4. However, in bowling CSK is having an advantage with Tahir and Harbhajan in good form.

Great points. DC seems to be in a better position at this stage and I feel that they can win against CSK and MI unless their batting order collapses which is their primary weakness this season. For example, they almost lost against SRH because of this issue.
8485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 Cricket World Cup - Discussion & Analysis on: May 09, 2019, 10:51:53 AM
Teams such as India are going to struggle during the first 2-3 matches while adjusting with the conditions. I won't be very surprised if there are a few upsets during this phase.
Not expecting any upsets because what you said goes both ways. The current Indian squad are capable of adjusting to foreign conditions pretty quickly and their recent performances in Aus and NZ proves that.

Teams such as West Indies, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be touring England this week and taking part in triangular ODI tournaments. So obviously they have the advantage when compared to the other teams. I guess two warm-up matches are scheduled for India, but it may not be enough. Playing the IPL in India (where the temperature can be up to 45 degrees) and then coming to England where the night temperature can fall to 10 degrees can be tough.
Exactly two warm-up matches are not enough for the Indian team. Because while playing in India the team has to experience a warmer environment and in England, they are goanna experience the lower temperature which gives them a completely different scenario and these thing impacts on players performances. As well, not only temperature but also pitches are in England are very different from Indian pitches.
Shoud be enough in my opinion. You think this is the first time they are playing on such pitches? They have tons of experience in this area which is why this is not an issue. They just need to adapt as quickly as possible.
8486  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance #safu fund on: May 09, 2019, 07:57:11 AM
remember that we are talking about $40 million dollars not a small amount that a business like Binance can easily recover from. i seriously doubt that they are going to cover all the losses, not any time soon anyways. but i don't think they are going to go away either. it will probably be something like what Bitfinex did. they will first give back some un-withdrawable tokens to their users as compensation of what they lost and force them to come back and continue to trade and slowly over the long term pay back small amounts of it. and to do that they probably are going to manipulate using their centralized token (BNB) with some pumps and other methods to earn that money to pay back.
I disagree. Binance is easily the most popular exchange on the market right now which is why 7000 BTC is not a huge amount for them, but it is a pretty big amount for individuals like us.

They can easily earn it all back in less than a month in my opinion and SAFU will take care of the customers.
8487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Hack and The Rollback on: May 09, 2019, 07:50:03 AM
ethereum network tried that once before but they failed hardly, (search DAO)
this situation is just $40m and surely no miner will try that but if it happens on a $4b fund most miners and maybe all miners may accept the bribe to help the roallback and make other suffer
$4 billion? No hacking group has ever managed to steal that much at once and the increasing security measures will make sure that no such thing will happen in the future.

Coming to the main topic, a rollback would complicate things in an insane manner which is why I don't support it. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction which is why it would probably cause more damage than intended.
8488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you protect your digital coins? on: May 09, 2019, 07:45:16 AM
I personally utilize a Trezor to store majority of my assets which I am confident will protect my funds from all hacks and scammers basically. I store my remaining assets in a paper wallet which I keep in a safe area. Also, you should always disclose details regarding your wallets to your close family members just in case.
8489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please help urgently, usdt cheated to a cheating usdt address on: May 09, 2019, 07:41:50 AM
100 freaking K? What in the world were you thinking op? The only thing that you can help you now is if the scammer is a dumb person who filled in his KYC which could help in tracking him, but the chances are quite low here.

Don't give up though. Try your best to cooperate with the local authorities and catch the scammer even though the chances are slim.
8490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what we can buy with bitcoin ?? on: May 09, 2019, 07:38:46 AM
If you like using Amazon, you can shop on Amazon while paying with BTC through 3rd party services like Purse[1]. Yea, you're not paying BTC straight to Amazon, but I don't think it matters that much. You pay with BTC, you receive your item. That's what matters anyway for the casual shopper.

[1] https://purse.io/
Heard that they give some kind of discount upto 10% too which is great although it would be awesome if Amazon properly provided BTC as a mode of payment helping adoption rates go through the roof.

They could change their mind and implement it in the near future as BTC volatility continues going downwards and becomes a lot more stable in nature.
8491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 09, 2019, 07:20:17 AM
~snip~

Bangladesh is much weaker than a full-strength West Indies team. But they have advantage for the tri-series, as the best West Indian players are playing in IPL and are not available for the national side. Even then, things can get tough for Bangladesh.

~snip~
T20 and ODI is totally two different format. WI is very tough competitor (I guess they are current champion) in T20 but in ODI they are below average team. On the other hand Bangladesh team has decent achievement and recent performance in ODI matches. This team improved a lot in the last few years.

I will predict Bangladesh to win the tri-series.
I agree. The truth is that the top quality West Indian batsmen don't have enough patience to stay on the pitch for a long period of time which is why they tend to perform better in T20 leagues when compared to ODI tournaments. Bangladesh is a much more balanced team in ODIs overall if you ask me.
8492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pakistan tour of England, 2019 (Cricket Series) on: May 09, 2019, 07:16:26 AM
Pakistan were 80/2 before the match had to stop and it ended in a draw. I think Pakistan team got lucky yesterday otherwise they would have lost the first one day international match also.   Cry
Yup. They were struggling to post a big score. England bowlers were bowling really well. Jofra Archer seems to be in another league when compared to other bowlers in the England team. He is the best bowler in the England team currently in my opinion.
8493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Now FREE to JOIN] IPL 2019 Prediction Pool and discussion on: May 09, 2019, 07:13:30 AM
I honestly am rooting for DC for their first ever IPL win, but their batting collapses are their biggest weak point. If they get rid of that, they will most probably lift the cup this season.

If DC fails, I am expecting MI to lift the cup unless CSK players show drastic improvement.
8494  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Wash trading with crypto exchanges on: May 08, 2019, 07:30:17 PM
Fake volumes could deceive traders. It's just disappointing that most trading volumes that we see are already manipulated but as long as we stick to our simple trading strategy, we would still be able to trade and gain without being deceived by fake volumes.
Its not that simple. Fake volume is not a threat for most people and everything in the crypto market is manipulated and centralized to an extent which is why investors won't just pull out their funds just because of manipulation in this aspect.
8495  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why P2P Escrow Exchanges are gaining momentum - for all payment modes on: May 08, 2019, 07:27:03 PM
Rightly said , In P2P the control is generally in users hand as compared to other platforms , Also securities like 2fa, google authentication , otp login , all these paramaters are quite difficult to break at the same time.
I disagree. I do believe that P2P platforms are less likely to be hacked when compared to big exchanges like Binance, but this in no way means that they are 100% secure and all trades will be risk free.

For example, LocalBitcoins is the most popular P2P OTC platform, but there are plenty of cases here where people lost their money due to scammers.
8496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit and tainted coins on: May 08, 2019, 07:24:38 PM
This topic is kind of like black money and white money, but this is digital crypto instead. Hilarious. Firstly, its hard enough differentiating between black and white FIAT which is why differentiating Bitcoin in this aspect is simply not possible.

Also, I feel like Bittrex is next unless they ramp up their security measures.
8497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Now FREE to JOIN] IPL 2019 Prediction Pool and discussion on: May 08, 2019, 07:19:34 PM
LOL we need to give award to Thampi as game changer of this match. From the 6th over match on the hand of SRH. This fellow turns the match his own team because of his 25 runs. Kane was crying finally nothing else infront of their own crowd.

DC was lost their wicket rapidly but one side their opener was knocked good play but few turns the match and this was that example for it.
This is what many posters failed to mention. That Thampi over basically screwed SRH completely and it was the final nail in the coffin. As usual, DC collapsed like dominoes when 14 runs were required from 14 balls.

I have observed some of the worst bowlers of this season were from SRH(Thampi, Kaul and Sharma) who were the primary reasons behind SRH losing, but still ended up qualifying.
8498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency: lives or dies? Part 1 on: May 08, 2019, 03:38:12 PM
First I'd like to thank OP for posting the information. Very helpful since it is detailed.

It's sad knowing a lot of people lost that time when the market went down after climbing a new peak. And at that time, I did not have any holding in me so I was not affected. Thinking those sudden investors buying BTC at $19k did sure hit them a big lost but we don't know if they sold their holdings or they continue to hold them until now waiting for bitcoin to rise again above their purchase price.

Hoping for Part 2 as I don't have the whole picture regarding what really happened.
Part 2 is already available.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5140551.msg50946733#msg50946733

The big problem here is that op should have condensed the wall of text and organized it in a better manner making it easy to read. That would attract far more readers in my opinion.
8499  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best way to store physical copy of Key weather & tamper proof on: May 08, 2019, 03:29:21 PM
I think that's too much. Being responsible and mindful of your private keys is enough for you to keep it well. It's a good idea that you're doing everything to secure your earnings but I don't think sealing it with epoxy and paint would help. Just keep it in a safe place and that's enough.
Op is just trying to be extra careful. Imagine forgetting the safe place. What then? I personally use a hardware wallet which I feel is enough for me. Op could store his paper wallet in a bank locker which only and his close family has access to. This would provide that extra layer of security.
8500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Now FREE to JOIN] IPL 2019 Prediction Pool and discussion on: May 08, 2019, 03:13:48 PM
~snip~

Majority feel that MI will lift the title this year though I am one of the minority that feels that SRH will lift it.
While I have doubt if MI or CSK (if they reach final) will lift the cup but I am certain that SRH is not going to be the champion team. I lost them when their two key player left the team for the world cup.

In today's match my bet is for DC.
Guptil seems to score a big one today. SRH needs at least 180+ in order to have a competitive match, otherwise, Delhi will easily win the match, I think. Guptil need to hit a big score and play the role of Warner or Bairstaw.
The pitch is filled with cracks which is why getting 180+ won't be easy which is why anything close to 160 would be competitive in my opinion. At present, they are playing slowly and they may be able to reach 160 if they accelerate from here on out.
