8521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin on the brink on: April 11, 2014, 03:46:54 AM
Dogecoin is by far the best coin right now.

People are actually using it.

Everything else is just one speculative circle jerk.

How does a currency get value? It get's value from people using it, not from people holding it.

k sock puppet.

People are using Bitcoin too and always have. I don't know what rock you've been living under for the past few years.  Look at the price of Bitcoin today. It is down because people are "using them".  The market doesn't just magically move up and down idiot.

DOGE did well at first because it was Bitcoin friendly and trying to bring people into digital currency.  Jacksons wet dream is for the government to regulate his shit... mark my words.
8522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: April 11, 2014, 03:39:22 AM
Can Doge rally?
Stay tuned......

What is the fact about Doge inflation?
I don't think "5 Billion/ year forever" is correct.

5.25 billion per year I believe after thinking about it.  That is correct and it is forever.

The reason being is because think off all the DOGE that will be lost on hard drives that die Wink and how else would you keep miners mining if they don't get 10,000 per minute for ever Wink *rolls eyes*

Edit:

Doing math now :-| I'll update this.

10,000 coins per minute so,
600,000 coins per hour so,
14,400,000 coins per day so,
5,256,000,000 coins per year.
FOR EVER and ever!

You are correct, and it seems like an insane amount.

It is... I believe the OP said that this coin had a cap (I am like 100% sure of this, but I will work on confirming it.)

The worst part was is that the developers knew that it was set up like this, but they still made the post of a "cap".  Billy told me that Jackson described telling the truth about no cap like "ripping off a Band-Aid." (I'm happy to post a picture of the message.)

Jackson is on his FB this evening saying that people shouldn't invest in bitcoin.... This is going to turn into a shit show I fear.   I spoke to Jackson about this months ago about this:

Me:
Hey man, when you get a chance if you could please explain the thought process behind not capping dogecoin and do you feel like people were lead to believe there was a 100,000,000 cap in the first place. If I recall that word was on the bitcointalk ect.
.

Me:
if your busy no worries of course. I think no cap will cause serious problems. *shrug* who the fuck knows! Hope life is good for you man and tyvm for you time
.

Jackson:
hey man
.

Jackson:
the code has always been that way, it was just misunderstood
.

Jackson:
the 10k block rewards past block 600k will be incentive for miners
.

Jackson:
you notice how every altcoin dies after a while?
.

Jackson:
that's because there's no incentive to mine
.

Jackson:
even Bitcoin/Litecoin will face this issue eventually
.

Jackson:
also, people lose coins
.

Jackson:
so 5B a year isn't that much in the scheme of things
.

Jackson:
when you factor in hard drive crashes, lost paper wallets etc.
.

Jackson:
lastly, it's not a 5% inflation rate
.

Jackson:
it's 5% the first year, then 4.7% and so forth
.

Jackson:
as it's a fixed 10k Dogecoin reward for each block
.

Jackson:
not % based
.

Jackson:
the goal is that dogecoin gets used as a real currency online and not hoarded for profit like litecoin/bitcoin
.

Jackson:
and that it'll give miners enough incentive to keep the network running with their hash power
.

.

Me:
eh... I think you should reconsider and remember than most bought in with the belief of a market cap. If this doesn't work I think there could be legal ramifications against Billy and yourself for misrepresenting it.  I am not saying this in a dick tone or anything like that I just really want to see you guys make it and I think dogecoin could be great, but no one is going to use it if it is a bottomless hole and no one is going to build on a bottom less hole.  I was planning on blending dogecoin with my bit coin offshore banking system, but knowing that my clients holdings are being diluted 5.256 e9 every year forever is irresponsible.  Best of luck with your ventures and I'll buy back when/if there is a cap established! Thank you so much Jackson. You have honestly changed my life man and I will always be grateful for that! When you make it to SF feel free to hit me up! I'd love to go have a beer!
Heres to such profit! *cheers*
.

Jackson:
I never sold anything that's legislated as currency, so there's no legal implications

___

Notice how to two underline things kinda seem like they relate.

He never "sold" anything as currency... only marketed it Wink If the OP said there was a cap and there wasn't a cap from the start . The DEV's knew that there wasn't a cap from the beginning... it seems to be they bull shitted the early DOGE investors (which luckily worked out well for me at least, but still shitty.)

GOAT may have been right

You can't really have too many coins. Doge is not infinite and it is mined at right amount.

Bitcoin have completely opposite problem hehe Wink

There is no cap on DOGE. There will be like 5 billion something new coins per year for ever.

Beware... your coins are not special. It is like "currency" (so Jackson says), but you can't wipe your ass with DOGE or burn it for warmth.
8525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much money you've lost due to SCAMs? on: April 11, 2014, 03:00:57 AM
Well lets see:

1 BTC - buying QRK, pretty much worthless now
1 BTC - buying NXT, not worth as much as before
1 BTC - buying EAC, pretty much worthless now
1 BTC - buying WDC, pretty much worthless now
1 BTC - buying MZC, pretty much worthless now

Buy shit before other people are buying it and sell a bit when the buyers start coming.  Be a capitalist.

Jackson was on facebook today bashing bitcoin...

Really?? Do you have a quote?

I was on my cell phone.  I wrote 3 comments and removed him.  He has done nothing but fuck up since the start.  You can add him on FB and see for yourself.

https://www.facebook.com/jacksonpalmer

He "doesn't care about the price".

And look at what happened when Charlie Lee took him at his word! A pack of wereshibes erupted at Reddit when they heard about the merged-mining suggestion...

I suggested this to Jackson long before good ole Char Char via FB.

Hey Jackson, things are going well!  I've taken a look at the wallet above and I do not believe that is doge-dice. I will do a little more block crawling and see if I can locate the owner for you.  Fucking things a monster hu?! Have you ever heard of "merge mining"?
____

Jackson doesn't feel any responsibility to the coin holders and doesn't give a fuck about the price.  Probably not the best dev to buy into. When I bought DOGE I spoke to Billy mostly, but Jackson has taken over for the most part. Billy was wonderful to deal with. Jackson is a bit of a "redditor".

There is a person with enough scrypt power right now to fuck DOGE all to hell like they did AUR.  I've just come to terms that 99% of redditors are fucktards. (no offense)
8527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: April 11, 2014, 02:27:26 AM
bay you bastard! Where have you been!

Quietly buying the fuck out of Huntercoin Cheesy  How's life been man?! Are you in this turd coin?

The speaker did a good job though TBH.  Kept my attention the whole time and seemed like a nice a nice enough dude from a far Smiley Good job dude
8528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much money you've lost due to SCAMs? on: April 11, 2014, 02:10:56 AM
Don't buy pre-mined country coins! FFS! Not Iceland, brazil or any other shitty country! If their president endorses it... maybe... but till then. Fuck em
8529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dogecoin creator Jackson says people shouldn't treat Bitcoin as a investment... on: April 11, 2014, 01:42:53 AM
This was via his facebook... The kid doesn't get it. Dump this shit.

https://www.facebook.com/jacksonpalmer

For being a pretty bright marketer this seems pretty fucking out there.  Why take shots at Bitcoin when it was Bitcoin is the reason your ass has any following at all.
8530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much money you've lost due to SCAMs? on: April 11, 2014, 01:30:18 AM
I made a bunch off DOGE Cheesy Wink

I've lost about 20BTC in scams though over my bitcoin career. Mostly from being a dumb fuck.

He "doesn't care about the price". In other words he knows it is a turd.... Frustrates the fuck out of me because I was a DOGE supporter at the start.

Then once they released the fact that there was no cap Billy said Jackson described telling people the truth like "ripping off a Band-Aid"....
grrrr

I don't understand why you would bash the foundation of your coin.  I told him he should stick to marketing Pump n Dumps rather than economics or investing advise. (this is not word for word... hopefully someone can post a screen shot here.)

Edit:

My post may have removed off his page when I removed him as a friend. Not sure how that works because I can't see what I wrote on his wall in my history.
8532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin on the brink on: April 11, 2014, 01:04:06 AM
Jackson was on facebook today bashing bitcoin...  I'd say DOGE is done.

The same people who own hundreds of millions of DOGE own hundreds and thousands of Bitcoins.

Why would you take shots at the coin that made your coin popular.... We may never know... Fuckin redditors! Cheesy

I'd say DOGE is a STRONG sell at this point.

AUR got forked by some monster miner who has enough power to fork DOGE too.

David Lio of the Auroracoin project gives his speech at the 1st CryptoCurrency Convention
About an hour ago:

Awesome stuff. Kudos to the team

If anyone has a video link, transcript, notes, impressions.. Please share!  Smiley

hopefully you can hear me ask about the recent forks... If I was the speaker I would have been more prepared or included it in the speech...

Also, the phone wallets are very important. Ideally all major handsets should be supported so that as many people as possible can transact easily.

I agree. Ideally receiving the airdrop would've been integrated into the wallet app, too. That's not a must, though, but it would make Icelanders carry around at least some of their AUR "by default".

by airdrop you mean the developers selling into the pump right?
8536  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 100BTC Casascius bar S1 Hologram error--- 500BTC bar 1 of 2 ever made by Mike C. on: April 08, 2014, 08:37:59 PM
not sure what you're expecting here.  Nobody is going to pay 300 BTC for a 100 BTC bar - the added value of the hologram error is maybe worth 2-3 BTC *at most* (if that) - so a max price of 102 or 103 is far more reasonable.  You've already had an offer of 102.5, maybe you should take that and accept the 2.5 BTC profit.

Will

my client has already made a sale of a series 1 hologram error for over 335btc.

I do sympathize with what you're saying though, but he is in no hurry to sell these and is happy to hand them down to his family
8537  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Little Rock, AR meetup Sat., March 29th on: April 08, 2014, 07:45:27 PM
There were 4 of us at each meeting. 19 have joined the group, which isn't too bad considering that it started up on March 23rd. Everyone is welcome to join regardless of proficiency.

wonderful! I can't wait to meet you guys
8538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Human Mineable Crypto Currency - Update 4/4/14 on: April 08, 2014, 07:27:43 PM
Been watching the HUC order books for a long time, and someone is soaking up a LOT of HUC.

This has been going on for a while.

Where? Not showing up here ? https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_huc

0.00088 to 0.00018 in a couple of weeks is a little more than a 50% reduction too. Bear in mind that BTC also tanked over that period so it's worse than it looks in real money terms.

Be nice if people were buying, not much sign of it ATM tho Sad

Yes - at Poloniex.

I've been watching it very closely for, oh, since Poloniex added HUC. Smiley

People aren't buying up into the sell depth. Orders are being placed lower as buyers let the sellers dump into the buy depth.

There is no reason to buy a market order right now because sellers are simply dumping. Right now the buying fights are all ranging around 0.00014001 up to 0.0002 (give or take a bit).

There's a large buy-wall at 0.00014 right now for 30,000 HUC. If that wall gets taken out, HUC may go into freefall even lower. However, that will depend on if buyers decide to let it fall more in order to buy it up cheaply, which is exactly what buyers have been doing for a while now.

The sell depth is very thin, so any upwards movement could happen very, very quickly. But, that also depends on whether or not hoarders start to sell. I've got a feeling that most hoarders don't want to sell for less than $1 per HUC. We'll see though. I'll continue buying up more as it drops down into my orders. Cheesy

nom nom nom Cheesy I wont sell shit for a while. Still a ton of development to go before that. I believe in snail!

I was poor last month, I'm poor this month and the chances are I'll be poor next month, but one day we will get the respect we deserve.
