any recommendation for newbie like me, i mean totally newbie  Huh
buy something in hand pay a premium for it like but in hand means ready to go. setup and working

Any SHA256 miner,  will not get you ROI.

Your best bet right now is to go with an ASIC Litecoin miner.
agreed them scrypt aisics are mental. saw a guy in a pool pulling 4btc a day from a lowly scrypt clone. was all wtf!!!!! how can he get so much.

Now is this just mining bitcoin? Or ANY sha256?

Scrypt

863  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Technobit HEX8A1 -260 GHs Coincraft A1 board-547 EUR May on: May 01, 2014, 02:29:52 PM
Hello,

A bunch of AMT customers have received AMT systems that are non-working.

Would it be possible for us to send our boards to you to be re-assembled into TechnoBit boards?

You will just have to remove the surface mounted A1 chips.

Is this something that is viable?
864  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 01, 2014, 02:27:37 PM
Also check out the "Terminator A2" by Innosilicon. its for scrypt mining though...

Looks promising, just like the KNC based litecoin miner.

However, I have been burned so badly with this mining business that I'm give up on this entire endeavor.
865  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 01, 2014, 02:26:24 PM

I might do the whole technobit thing. That sounds like a viable option. Hopefully not an expensive one. Can you link it? Or PM it to me? I would be interested in going that route. Thanks for the potential solution and contribution Cheesy certain poserkos I won't name by name do nothing to contribute help its nice to have people who do contribute solutions Wink

Here is the assembly service for an 8 chip board,  209 EURO:

http://technobit.eu/index.php?id_product=67&controller=product&id_lang=1

The owner (marto74 )  is in BTT.  So we can ask if we can send the AMT boards and they can 'mine' it for parts.

Please reach out to marto74  to see if he can accomodate this.

I agree with FrictionlessCoin, which is the one who convinced me to buy a few iXcoins a few months ago.  Grin

Well, let's rewind a little bit. Let's start from the last roadmap offered by Luke. I put it as google drive document: you can modify it as you want. Please add or delete ideas, change the order, put dates, proposals, etc...

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BLNjYJkN8p3oioHshXRTD9ky9O97H57muMRrfpfBq8k/

Let's considers it a white paper. I am curious to know if there is something this community can agree on.

Thanks for setting this up.

I talked to the owner of the exchange cryptoczar.com.  They are FinCen compliant and are in NYC.

I think we should pursue trying to get IXC into cryptoczar.com.  The platform is designed to make market making much easier.   One of the biggest issues with IXC is the lack of liquidity.   cryptoczar will reward large IXC holders that provide better liquidity of the coin.

I think if large IXC holder just want to hoard the coin, they therefore should allow some level of liqudity to the trading and be rewarded for it.

I think as a first step is to request Vircurex to de-list IXC from their exchange.   That will first consolidate IXC trading in Cryptsy and lead to a more transparent market.  The Vircurex market is a complete farce in that it is more of a bait and swithch,  enticing folks to put in their BTC only to get it confiscated.   I will send a request to Vircurex to de-list IXC.
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: May 01, 2014, 01:41:54 PM
iXcoin is actually doing quite well relative to other coins that have come and gone.

It has a marketcap of 1,306,212, which is much 500,000 more than DEV Coin.

Other more well known coins like TRC (traded in BTC-E),   DigitalCoin have fallen off the map.

IXC is soon to catch up with WorldCoin, MegaCoin and even NovaCoin (NVC).

So folks that keep claiming that this coin is dead should take a look at its performance relative all these other junk coins.

If we can raise enough bounty, we can pursue more advanced features.

Also note:  i0coin... only traded in insolvent Vircurex... has completely fallen off the map.

Update: White Paper is Out

First Draft of Skycoin Distributed Consensus Whitepaper is on Github

https://github.com/skycoin/whitepapers

I need feedback. I feel like it should be trimmed down a bit.

I want to point out that the stuff about Mt.Gox being a victim of maleability attacks is complete bogus.  You probably want to strike that out of your text.

Is there any official announcement date? or the project is dead

Apologies, we've encounterred development delays.

We likely will reduce scope of a bit to be able to release sooner.

870  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 01, 2014, 01:28:20 PM
It's interesting but I see bitmine having alot of the same issues AMT has been having. Altho it seems less so. Refunds issues, delivery issues, all of the same. Like I said....seems like anything/anyone using A1's designs is having a ton of issues. Companies using other chips seem to be ok in terms of delivery. Something worth noting if you are looking for vendors. Just seeing a common thread here with the hardware is all. There is this race for a 28nm process, but at the same time with all the problems, it almost seems like the stable and already mature 55nm process or 40nm chips based solutions are better at this point to go with. They work they are stable....and most of all they are shipping and largely on time.
Realy Grin
My technobit boards A1 are working non stop. And same is happening to other A1 hex8/hex4 technobit clients
So do not speak bulshit please.
You can always asume that everyone has issues but facts are different Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
Never tried designing a higher density packaged version of those stand-alone boards have ya?  Roll Eyes
Sure the A1 chips can run but making things run in a 1 board setting is entirely different than making a *system* of them work. ALL of the system builders are having the same issues simply because they had not planned on the chip being so off advertised spec when it was finally placed in their hands to do something with.

I don't recall the Dragon Systems having trouble?

The Technobit boards appear to work.  It may be worth the effort to remove the cointcraft A1 chips from those bad AMT boards and sending them over to Technobit to get a new system.   Drastic, but what other choice do we have?
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: May 01, 2014, 11:14:38 AM
Here is an example of the kind of promotion of a coin (ZenithCoin) that I had helped to create:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16MhYDfgr3E

Why can't we get this kind of effort for IXC?

We can't because people who own IXC are just in it to hoard the coin and not to contribute to invest in it.

IXC is a good coin with good technical fundamentals,  I have those details documented here:  http://www.ixcoin.co/?page_id=80

However, we have stingy investors.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: May 01, 2014, 11:07:35 AM

no real hard work, happy to contribute, since I was studying the source code to this and iO to learn more about merged mining ..... alas.... i learned some things however BlueDragon747 (the blake coin developer) is way ahead and we will probably have merged mining of photon and blake coin out in a few days,   a little off topic here ,

Blake coin isn't even a SHA256 coin, so how is it going to be merged mined?

Never heard of photon.

IMHO, this is some B.S. to get you folks to invest in blakecoin or photon.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: April 30, 2014, 08:46:52 PM
It could just be as simple as ixcoin was a test case for bitcoin to see what will happen to the network once max coins are out.

Bitcoin is more like ragna lothbrok and ixcoin is like rollo

Haha, that's a possibility and if that's the case then give us the medicine straight or leave the project since you can't bother to show up or answer questions even once per month.

Even the busiest person can check in once per week for 10, 25 minutes.  These devs can't be bothered with that.

I will say however, Friction has shown up once per week and sometimes more often, but it's just not the kind of behavior you get from any devs I've seen.  Almost intentional hiding from everyone and avoiding questions.

I'm trying to understand under what circumstances and to what end would someone do that with their own coin.

Maybe you don't realize that Thomas Nasakioto is not very technically adept and simply is unable to update the coin by himself.

As far as his holdings,  it also may not be very much to be worth his time to make an effort.   If you notice that every time he shows up, its a signal to start selling IXC.

I also don't have a lot of IXC and probably will do work only if there's enough donations to justify the time spent on it.

IXC does have its niche, but unless people are willing to make a serious investment,  the I doubt that it'll move forward much.
874  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: AMT users thread. on: April 30, 2014, 04:19:51 PM
My returned damaged AMT 1.2T Bitcoin miner is just sitting there at:

FEDEX GROUND
14300 TOWNSEND RD
PHILADELPHIA,  PA  19154-1015 (800) 463-3339

AMT, Please go pick this up. Everyone is concerned why you are not picking up your packages anymore or answering the door.

FEDEX can always send to the closest FEDEX store for pickup.

If indeed AMT has trouble having someone to receive the package (which is absolutely strange) then they should not have a problem picking up the package at a FEDEX office.
875  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 30, 2014, 03:16:20 PM
Great news! As promised I called the police on these guys within 24 hours of my demand email. The Lower Merion Police said because the amount stolen from me was enough to press charges against AMT miners. Everyone who wants to file charges go to your local police stations, and Lower Merion township will follow up on the charges you press at your local police stations.

Lower Merion?

Anyway,  what exactly did you tell the police?

That you bought something over $X,XXX and the company is not delivering the item?
876  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 30, 2014, 02:15:32 PM
Power...if you dont have the space, or power in your home or facility then it makes sense to host it somewhere that can. Thats actually a bargain to host it at that price.

It is if you only have one unit.  I just got a full rack at a nearby colocation facility, very secure large data center in Naperville, Illinois for $600/month which includes my first 40 amps of power (after that its metered but at a lower rate than I would pay at home).  I could theoretically fit 27 Spondoolies SP10 in there (assuming I could afford 27 of them, which I can't alas).  Power draw for 27 SP10's would be about 300 amps .. but my first 40 amps are included so i would only pay metered power for the remaining 260amps.. but considering that hosting 27 SP10s would cost well over $5,000 a month, you can see that a DIY rack in a good data center is still a much better alternative (granted my colocation deal is very good .. next best quote was over $900 so YMMV, but still if you have a lot of units paying a per unit hosting fee is probably never going to be a good deal vs a DIY rack).

The future will be apps that support  'collaborative consumption'.. uber, bnb, bitcoin (transaction verification), safecoin (storage)...
877  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 30, 2014, 01:53:18 PM
TOTAL BRICK here also for both orders:

1. Parts missing
2. They require 2 power supply in which I received 1 instead of 4.
3. Both Rigs are dead
4. Josh wont pick his phone up
5. Im down $12K
6. I feel like going and brake  his legs, but don't want trouble with the law.
7. Still paying towards loan that I took.

Josh - Jim, you are a Peace of work, i think best bet for you is to go and Hide in Russia like Snowden, because you have a huge lawsuit coming after you.

you took a loan to buy mining hardware??? *facepalm* you should never do that. use only disposable income. i.e mining profits

If they would have brought my rigs in time, I would have paid my loan and other money that i have invested that was no loan.

Does not matter where the money came from to buy this stuff, its still lost money.   I paid BTC for my unit when BTC was near the peak,  however I'm still considering this as a $6,000 loss.

878  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 30, 2014, 11:43:54 AM

In my case I avoided the shipping issues. But I still have blown cards that I am working to address on my own before sending it back. I have not had success yet mostly because I have not had alot of time, but if I have some sort of fix for cards that can be plugged in but wont power up I will post the fix. This is for my own benefit as it would be for everyone elses. The DIY kit is not something I recommend for anyone without an advanced knowledge of Linux and electronics in general. Not just computers as this is not a typical computer system. There is calibration and other aspects involved in making this hardware work. If you are waiting on your hardware, check in with them again and see what happened. You might want to get it sooner at this point rather than later.

Huh?  You are still optimistic that they are delivering?

Where do you ship this stuff back where there's an actual person accepting delivery?

I'm stuck here with a $6,000 ($2000 at depreciated costs) brick and AMT keeps promising parts but never delivering.  I'm waiting on a backplane.... AMT can't even deliver that.  How do you think they can deliver an entire working system?
879  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 30, 2014, 11:35:09 AM
Well my raspi doesn't seem to show any video when plugged in by itself.

Looks like I pretty much have a toasted system.

:-(

I got another raspi somewhere in the house, but can't locate it right now.  Damn frustrating.

Talk about worst customer experience ever.

(1) Damaged shipment.
(2) Customer support that deliberately ignore pleas for help.
(3) Missing parts.
(4) Broken parts.
(6) No Instructions
(7) RMA that nobody receives.
(Cool Promises to delivery but never happening.

Sigh!

880  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: April 30, 2014, 10:41:18 AM
I need a wiring diagram for this!

I got the Rhasp Pi hooked up to the GPIO cable and the power supply.

I got the board hooked up to a PCI-E power connector.

I got the backplane hooked up a floppy disk power connector.

What else do I need hooked up?  How does the Raspberry Pi turn on?  I don't see any switches.  There is a red light that comes on.

Anyone can help here.

AMT you are the worse supplier ever... can't even help a customer out.

micro usb is there but i dont think its powerful enough. im not using it anyway

floppy connector
pcie 6 pins in cards
2 fans in pi in the loose pins not socket
24pin mobo connecter in pi
plug in a hdmi cable into the pi then turn on tv to hdmi channel then turn pi on. ul get a rasberry logo and your in business

log in with user as root
pass as amt
type killall cgminer
then ifconfig youl see an ip in the first few lines 192.168.1.xxx thats pi ip.
take note of it
go on pc typ thee ip into firefox or chrome not i.e
log in with
admin
admin
and then click cg miner
add pool details to all 3
click save and start
then home
done.

all cards should mine and show in r/h side.
if not go back into the pi. type killall cgmine then
cgminer -DT this will show card specs your looking at the bottom for it to say found x chips xxx active cores.
if familiar with putty use that its easier because you can scroll each card. your looking for 8 chips 256 active cores.

fk it iv been saying for a week il do vid/tut tomorrow and never do. so i will make one. i expect 1million btc in donations :-p

How do you turn the pi on?  There's no switch.
