PLEASE REDEEM YOU NEMSTAKE! REDEMPTION ENDS 26TH(TOMORROW NIGHT)!

REDEMPTION WILL NOT BE EXTENDED THIS TIME!

Wanna bet with 50/50 odds that they'll be at least 50 unclaimed stakes with me betting that there will?

Redemption won't be extended. We went so far as to message every holder of NEMstake assets via NXT messaging, so we have done our best.

Will we get a message sent to confirm they have been received upon redemption?

No but you'll find a usefull link in my signature.
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 26, 2015, 09:28:44 AM

Why would anyone need an exact time ? Do you honstly believe you're going to trade to the last second ?
Nothing but bullshit.
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 26, 2015, 09:20:53 AM

What makoto posted is what happens with the rest of the stakes. The stakes controlled by that account will just be destroyed.

Yes. After today, all those NEMstake assets will be worthless.

What's the deadline? Also just to confirm if 0.1 NEMstake = 100,000 XEM??

0.1 NEMStake is 10% of a stake. Since the number of XEM changed I'm not sure of the exact number that amounts to.
Deadline is today. Better hurry up !

Well, I just finished the redemption process. The whole thing took me 12 hours and I'm sure many others have also done the same tonight. Not sure if redemption will be extended again or if this is the final one but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I guess the only thing I have to do now is wait for the launch. Smiley

[...] what is meant by the word "password" in the box below? When creating an address, does the password equal the same thing as NXT's passphrase (which should be very complex) or Bitcoin's wallet encryption password (which can be simple)? I'm guessing it's the latter, right?

NEM uses wallet files like Bitcoin, so your private key is saved in the wallet file, but of course encrypted. To decrypt it, you need the wallet password, which you choose in that picture you posted.

This means: Without your wallet file a hacker can't bruteforce your wallet password, so this is a more secure way compared to NXT's brainwallet system (assumed people take care of their wallet file and dont publish it).
This also means: To be really safe, your password should still be very strong, because if somebody is able to get your wallet file, a bruteforce attack will find weak passwords fast and then your funds are gone fast as well.

BUT: The wallet you create with the current NEM software for testnet (before launch) should not (maybe even can't) be used later after launch. So for now its not really important to have strong wallet passwords, but people should learn that strong passwords are very important to secure your funds after launch!

It cannot be said often or loud enough that you have to save your real account data (to be precise: the private key of your account which you use for redeeming your NEM stake) really secure. Don't save it unencrypted to your hard disk. Don't save it in cloud storages like Dropbox etc. Don't send it via email or any other channel which is not heavily encrypted and really safe (if you are not much into cryptography, just don't send your private key via ANY communication channel). If you are not sure how to handle it, try this tutorial: https://forum.nemcoin.com/tutorials/guide-creating-and-saving-real-account-data/

... I knew NEM is based heavily on NXT ...

Completely wrong. NEM isn't based on NXT at all. Maybe the same spirit but not a single line of code is shared.

@ devs: what will happen with all the stakes which miss the deadline on AE?

They will be lost, so hopefully no one misses the deadline!

Yes i know but what will happen with the xemcoins of this stakes?

Hey guys,

I'm really not familar with this, I was told by a friend about this at work and he helped me pay for a stake.

Ok so I'm an idiot. I rememeber doing something a few months ago to register and I know I saved some account stuff for the NEM wallet?

So I just deleted the account info I had saved on my work computer in a folder. I checked and I still have a Token in my messages.

So am I screwed now? This tech stuff hurts my brain.

If you still have that token that you got via pm you're not screwed. If you have completed phase 1 you can still register until tomorrow (guide: https://forum.nemcoin.com/nem-news-alerts/updated-redemption-guide/)

Worst case is you have to redeem after launch. Keep that token safe !

No I already redeemed, im on the final list. But I don't have any accoint details and passwords i made, completely gone! Can I go throught the whole process again? Please tell me cause i better do it quick if possible.

https://chain.nem.ninja/stakes/registered

Send me a new address via pm and I'll exchange it. I suggest you keep the priv-key safe his time.

The "phoenix" looks a lot like a swan to me and that isn't epic at all imho.
870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best way of initial coin distribution on: February 23, 2015, 07:50:42 AM
That depends on what you want to achieve with your distribution.

Is it supposed to be as easy as possible i.e. not much administration ?
Do you want to reach as many people as possible or is the generated funding more important ?
Would socks be a problem ?

What is the best always depends on the desired outcome.

i just dont get it why for gods sake we need logo change again...? because nem is technically awesome and not okay? sorry jabo, i dont want to seize anybody here, but thats not a vaild argument to unroll the whole logo discussion again. people are sick of that me included.

Don't worry too much about it. People were saying that we could have a better logo. So a part of the community went ahead and made that contest on 99d. So partially I'm actually happy that finally the community is getting something done. On the other hand it's - like you said - another freaking logo discussion and it's nothing but useless to me.
Unless 99d comes up with something really fan-fucking-tastic there will be no logo change though. So it's basically just a sideshow that imho doesn't really deserve that much attention. Especially right now when we're closing in on launch (so yeah, timing is also terrible imho).
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 23, 2015, 07:26:47 AM
REDEMPTION ENDS ON THE 26th (that's this Thu) - DON MISS IT!
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 23, 2015, 07:21:07 AM
please release the coin first and then we will see how "awesome" nem will do in the wild.
Logo change after launch is a bad idea.

Logo change at all is a bad idea. Imho it's not better or worse before or after launch. Luckily it doesn't look like 99d will come up with anything worthwile.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 22, 2015, 12:54:20 PM

What do you think about this one?

not much worse than the ones on 99d.
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 22, 2015, 11:19:41 AM
Grey shade look fine to me.Rest is also good.

Any logo that is picked imho should be adapted to match our current colors. They are somewhat unique and there was also a reason for choosing 3 different colors. Not to mention that our styleguide would pretty much go to waste otherwise.
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 22, 2015, 11:15:02 AM
This one is slick, better than the current one.

...

I like the visual with the triangle but the font is imho awfull.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 22, 2015, 08:51:33 AM
WTF, Who have decided to change a logo Huh

Stupid move. Stick with a current one.

We need a launch before anything.

The community decided to give it a try. It's not decided that we will change the logo. It's merely a test to see what 99d can come up with.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 22, 2015, 08:50:11 AM
is it ok to use the Web Wallet?  safe enough?   i can't get the wallet running locally.

im hoping BTER withdrawal will be available soon and i need a wallet to move the coins if that chance comes.

where did you find a webwallet ? There is afaik no official webwallet.

But this means a 2 of 2 multisig doesnt make sense at all, because 1 account has full power (indirectly... by deleting the other cosigner account).
I dont understand the sense of this feature.

That is no feature. That's just how the implementation works. You shouldn't have a 2 out of 2.
Most usecases will become way better covered once m out of n is available.
Well ok then call it implementation. It still dont get why it makes sense.
In fact the current implementation is a "n of n transaction multisig" and a "n-1 of n can delete cosigners" multisig.

Yep. It is. But the problem you're having dissapears once m out of n comes into play. You can just make an extra key for security and make it n-1 out of n.
880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 20, 2015, 12:37:23 PM
When i have a multiaccount with 2 other cosignatory and 1 account will be hacked, then my nemcoins are not available for me and i loose them right?

You can remove the third (hacked) one with the 2 other signatures. [...]
how?

I think right now the gui is not supporting it, but NIS does. So in principle it could be done with a script.
Ok.
