Power seems to be my biggest enemy....

I am using a RaspberryPi 2 with an external powered USB hub. Even though it has 12 powered ports....It was too much to fill all the ports with the USB ASIC Miners. I was never able to get more than 4 running at a time because lack of power. Well today something happened to that hub and I need a new one.

I now know not just any powered USB hum will do.... What powered USB hub will someone recommend without breaking the bank?
Even if I have to use 2 powered USB hubs I would like to get more than 4 running from a single RaspberryPi.

Thank you

I like the Gearmo 10 port hub the best.  It runs 9 BE's and one fan just fine.

You do know your not going to make anything on BE's, right?
862  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Best pool for mining during night hours only on: October 24, 2015, 09:10:50 PM
Hello, I'm looking for a suitable pool for mining during night hours only. (e.g. 10pm - 8am, rest of hours miner will be completely stopped).
I had it running on eligius but I was only getting very few bitcoins each day...

Your getting Bitcoins each day by mining 10PM to 8AM??  How much hash rate do you have?

Any pool should be fine as you get paid per share submitted.  The different payout systems spread those payments out differently but you still get paid per share.  With the exception of the method Elegius uses.  They cap the maximum payout when luck is good to make up for bad luck and limit the risk to the pool which is inherent in PPS pools.  So that being said I wouldn't recommend a PPS pool of any type.

CGMiner let me down back in block erupter days. I really think you didn't give much of a hoot

I have always used CGMiner with my block erupters with no problem.  And I'm still using it with a handful of BE's.

Now that 49 port hub of theirs was total crap and never worked right for me.

Why would you still run those?

I going to get my ROI out of them and my Jalapeno OR ELSE!!

Naw just kidding.  Just running them because I can and they still work.  It's getting cool at night but still warm during the day so I run the Monarchs at night and the BE's during the day since they don't generate much heat.  When winter hits I'll be running the hotter machines full time and probably solo mine the the BE's and see if they ever hit a block, which they most likely won't.  But if they do you'll definitely hear about it Smiley.

{"hashrate1m": "212", "hashrate5m": "525", "hashrate1hr": "1.3K", "hashrate1d": "1.48K", "hashrate7d": "1.48K", "lastupdate": 1445379464, "workers": 1, "shares": 1000, "bestshare": 2264.6737130500615}

I don't get what 212, 525, 1.3k means.

That's your hash rate.  It's probably very inaccurate at that point as you mining at 1K difficulty.  As your difficulty adjusts the hash rate will be more accurate and make sense.

I have a simple question regarding cgminer that I failed to find an answer to in README and other sources.

I'm experimenting with my hobby project with the following setup of 7 ASICs:

- ASICMINER Block Erupter (x4);
- Avalon Nano3 (x1);
- Antminer U3 (x2).

All these devices are supported by the same driver (icarus). However, I would like to use different driver options (like timing) for each specific vendor. Do I have to run three different instances of cgminer (manually restricting each of them with --usb option), or it is possible to specify separate set of options for each group of devices within one instance?

--icarus-timing <arg> Set how the Icarus timing is calculated - one setting/value for all or comma separated

So deleting the zip versions of the cgminer archives was enough to appease the stupid google system into not seeing the files that it was complaining were malware. Only .7z archives for windows binaries are now available for download. Now the firefox warning should have gone away, though the google search is yet to show the correct cgminer site.

Yep, Firefox 41.0.1 for Windoze is happy, for now.

I still not able to get a copy of messages from working cgminer's cmd window, it starts with the message of "fatal JSON error in configuration file" (the same file on another machine works perfect), then "no hotplug usb devices detected", then 5-6 minutes it stays calm and after this pause come LibUsb Errors reset/success...

Never got a fatal json error before.  Hopefully someone else can chime in on that one.
Good Luck,
Sam

-ck,
Did you know that Firefox is now blocking your web pages?

I'm throwing some U3's over here for a few days for fun.  Figure it will be a fun way to test my results without using to much money in gear.

I'm looking forward to trying this pool though.  Always found it intresting to say the least when it has great time with blocks.   Looks like last few blocks have not been to friendly though.

Don't forget this pool reward at full potential  only after 5x the total share of the current difficulty.

That means you may have to let your u3 1+ week before you get the full reward on your payout!

Happy mining Smiley

Thank you for this!  I would have wondered what was happening.  Guess I missed that.

Is this to reward those who stay long term with pool?  Or what is main reasoning?

The main reasoning is to prevent pool hopping.  That is the purpose of the PPLNS payout system.  You will still get paid the same over time as you would have with proportional.

I am not sure I can copy-paste from cmd line. But in words some results -

In the dos box go to properties and check the quick edit option.  Then just select the text and copy it to the clipboard.

2. When I start with .bat file from previous post it still quiet as well, but after a few minutes starts to send messages Libusb attempting to reset and libsub Success every 5 seconds. No more information.
Unplug and replug your miners.

3. If I start by entering full path to the .bat file into cmd line it says - "cgminer.exe is not an executive file"
You must have your path wrong.
Maybe it will be helpful to set the WinUSB to all listed devices from the zadig's dropdown menu?
I would not do that.  Just do it for your miners.  How many miners are you connecting to WinXP.  XP has a limit of 12 or 13 devices.

Yes, I did. I did install 2102 usb to uart bridge controller and change driver to WinUSB using Zadig (with plugged U3 as it's written in the instruction to U3
)... Should I reinstall the driver? Or install the controller again?

Run Zadig again, select "list all" and verify that all your miners are using the WinUSB.  Also copy and paste the error your getting so we can see what you are getting.

Thank you! Adding "pause" to the .bat file works perfect, cgminet starts with .bat.

There is another problem I found trying sugestion #2, using full command line in cmd - it says that devices found: USB 0; BUS 1 (and this is my u3!)
I am confused... It works perfect if I plug U3 to the desktop, U3 is recognized as usb device. But when I move it to the laptop it is recognized as BUS device and I do not understand why there is no connection to usb port. Both computers are with XP and have similar tree in device manager...

Did you install the WinUSB driver via Zadig for WinXP?
874  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: October 11, 2015, 02:40:50 PM
If I start the batch file the cmd window appears and drops in ½ second.

Could you give me any suggestion?

Put a pause after your command line so that you can see what the error.

such as

cgminer.exe -o *** -u *** -p *** --au3-freq 250 --au3-volt 850
pause

Or open a command line dos box prompt and then type in your complete command so you can see why if failed.

solo.ckpool.org has it's own thread.  Please post in there instead of creating new and redundant threads.

KNock off the high guesses. Stop jinxing the system.  Angry

Hi guess! I wish they were all 88! We would be running 112% luck all the time

I was going to guess 31.950% too.  No really!!!
878  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining 100 blocks solved! on: September 25, 2015, 10:45:57 PM
Is there any way to set the minimum or maximum difficulty on the client side? Every time I start my U2, U3 or Compaq's, it takes almost 10 minutes before the diff comes down from 1000 to where I can start getting blocks?  This happens with both CG Miner and BFG Miner for me.

That isn't going to have any bearing on your finding a block.  The current difficulty is 59,335,351,234, which is way more than 1000.

But, if your using CGMiner you can use the suggest difficulty command line argument.  Again that will have no bearing on your finding a block.

where is the official place to downoad the cgminer?

The link is in the top post of this thread.

and what exactly will show when we find a block is that someone that can show to us one image? printscreen check mine bellow please
CGMiner displays "Best Share:" When that number is equal to or larger than the current difficulty, 56,957,648,455, then you will have found a block.

At 30 GHs it will most likely be years if not century's.  But hey you may get lucky.  I'm currently running 18 Block Erupters for a grand total of 5.9 Ghs in the off chance I may find a block.  But I'm not holding my breath either.  Smiley

Good Luck and have fun.
