861  Other / Meta / Re: Too Many Forum Boards - Outdated Threads - Let's Delete Boards on: September 10, 2023, 10:28:05 AM
The problem is that in the small and outdated forum board, can be also important thread, which can be missed.

Actually, it's the opposite – on smaller boards, you can easily find important threads because they stick around on the first page for longer. All these boards you mentioned serve a purpose and should stay, even if they haven't been updated for a while. Take "Important Announcements," for instance. If you read the description, it says, "Only VIPs, global moderators, and administrators can post here." So, it makes sense why there aren't many new topics, but every new post will definitely get noticed.

Why we need in Archival board Chinese students with majority threads in 2011 ?

That's exactly what the Archival board is for.

By the way, it's considered disrespectful to write whole replies in a different font color and avoid making multiple consecutive posts. Read the forum rules.

Imam isti vibe kad obilazim šaltere (zato ih i izbjegavam), ali uvijek sam to pripisivao potplaćenim zaposlenicima. Iako, to nikako nije oravdanje.

864  Economy / Services / Re: Need help running signature campaign for Deteriora.com on: September 08, 2023, 12:04:14 PM
There are several good informational threads about campaign managers offering their services on the forum:

[ list] Campaign Management Services
Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers

And if you need other services like graphic design or escrow services, you can check out this topic from tranthidung:

[Overview] Bitcointalk Services from Bitcointalk Members

But, OP, my first suggestion is to create a well-crafted announcement (ANN) about your service (assuming it is at least somewhat related to Bitcoin) in the Service Announcements section.

I recently created a post asking if I should buy bitcoin now or wait for the dip,
<cut>

I saw your topic and noticed that the thread is now locked. I'm not sure if you locked it or if the moderators did, but generally, you don't need to create a new topic for every thought you want to express, especially if it's related to a previous discussion.

Reason for all these questioning, I have a dream of becoming a long term bitcoin holder but, dreams aren't achieved with words alone, an action is needed for the start up, so I have decided to sell one of my less used phone for the purpose of buying bitcoin.

You start every journey with the first step. When it comes to investing and buying the dip, it's a bit like setting off on an adventure. Nobody can tell you for sure whether it's the right time or not; that call is all yours to make.

I hate usernames and passwords. I'll keep the idea on the front burner.

I'm totally cool with email OTP login or using an authorization URL; I'm not a fan of usernames and passwords either. But have you thought about including more social login options? I mean, Google and Facebook are pretty hot choices these days, and there might be a few others worth looking into as well.
867  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚠️ Crypto.Games ⚠️ Account Closure and ~8.38 ETH Confiscated on: September 06, 2023, 01:08:02 PM
There is another thing that has been bugging me with the way some casinos request for KYC. If I don't agree to the KYC terms, is it in order for the casino to hold my funds as ransom until I provide the said documents?
What about sending the funds back to me and they just close/lock the account and I never get to use their platform again?

Some exchanges do this all the time. If you don't agree to their KYC terms, the only active option you have in your account is the withdrawal button. I think casinos should adopt this too instead of this endless rope pulling.

This is a valid argument and definitely something we should discuss more. We have seen numerous cases of casino operators changing their terms of service 'on the fly,' transitioning from No-KYC to Full KYC, disregarding the fact that these were not the terms under which users initially entered into a relationship with them. At the very least, casino operators should allow users to withdraw funds from their accounts before imposing the full KYC verification requirement. This would provide users with a fair opportunity to access their existing balances without being subjected to sudden and unexpected demands for personal information. Users who initially joined the platform under different conditions should not be trapped in a situation where they cannot access their funds.

The thing is, some platforms are all about making a quick buck and raking in short-term profits. They don't seem to realize that their shady actions could seriously mess up their rep in the long haul within the community. I've been thinking, maybe it's about time we put together a list of those platforms that, well, they're not exactly scams, but they're not too far off either. You know, the ones that don't play fair and don't care about ethics, but only care about their own pockets.

The problem I'm facing at freebitcoin is that the email containing WoF from email subscriptions hasn't loaded properly in the past few days, so the banner can't be clicked and that's been happening for almost a week, only one or two where I can claim the prize in the rest of Wof. becomes expired because Wof from email subscriptions is only available for 48 hours or 2 days.

Are you sure that the issue isn't on your side? Perhaps something else is blocking the loading of the email newsletter or clicking on the banner? I just opened a few emails from my end and didn't encounter any problems. All WoF links are working, except the expired ones, of course. Maybe you should try opening the email with a different email client?
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HALVING IS GOING TO CAUSE A GENERAL EFFECT ON ALL IN THE ECOSYSTEM. on: September 06, 2023, 08:38:07 AM
How will the BTC mining difficulty level affect validators (btc miners) due to 1/2 reduction in reward after the next halving and possible backlash on general ecosystem?

Halving in mining rewards is predictable and all miners are aware of it. What is not predictable and what significantly affects the profitability of mining is the increase in the difficulty and price of BTC. Investing in mining equipment always involves a bit of gambling.

By the way, mining difficulty has nothing to do with halving. At least not directly. However, halving can have a secondary effect of reducing difficulty, as albert0bsd described.

We will have a chat tomorrow morning.

I don't want to sound insensitive, but I think this is a legitimate question. Have you considered the possibility of his health deteriorating or, even worse? Aside from the risk of investing in such a gambling venture, I believe you also need to think about what will happen to your investment if the worst-case scenario unfolds.

Well, I genuinely hope your friend makes a recovery and manages to find some enjoyment in the rest of his life.  Sadly, based on my own experiences, it can be quite challenging to bounce back from such an illness, and often, the condition tends to deteriorate over time in most cases.

It is definitely inappropriate to call it racism. The problem here is that you did not follow the rules. I don't think there is any smell of racial discrimination here.

Nice shilling! Here's a cookie!

873  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Stake.com Hot wallet robbed for 40Million + usd (Confirmed by stake) on: September 05, 2023, 03:13:53 PM
And for all the coins stolen on BSC, could Binance not just reverse those transactions since BSC is 100% centralized?

CZ's best bet is to freeze those output addresses and have Stake negotiate with those hackers (Ramson, as usual), since I don't believe it's feasible to reverse already confirmed transactions (which I haven't seen before).

There is no need to reverse already confirmed transactions, as Binance can simply freeze the funds and use the BNB Auto-Burn feature to cover the hacked funds back to the Stake. I believe they have already taken similar actions following some major hacks/exploits on the BSC network.

Keeping such a large sum in a hot wallet is a rookie error for an old casino (Stake). It appears to be an insider hack.

I agree. I don't know the exact daily withdrawal numbers, but seriously, did they really need that much in one hot wallet? And it wasn't even a multisig, apparently. I mean, every large transaction from the platform goes through a manual verification process anyway.
874  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔴Your Guide to Registering at ⚡ Vave.com ⚡ Crypto Casino 🔴 Free Spins*🔴 on: September 05, 2023, 12:14:01 PM
We have reached out to you, even after the rules violation, and returned the amount of your last deposit. Any funds exceeding that sum were voided. Also, we strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the rules regularly to avoid any misunderstandings or situations like this.

In the spirit of transparency that you claim to uphold within the community, I suggest you shed some more light on this case. Changing your terms of use after a player has deposited funds and gambled is a concerning practice and the circumstances surrounding this case demand a clear and thorough response. Please provide clarification on this matter.

To start, could you please provide a detailed timeline of events related to this particular case? This would help us better understand the sequence of actions and decisions made.

Furthermore, when exactly did you include the provision restricting Russian residents in your Terms of Service? And why does this provision appear only in the English version of the Terms of Use, rather than being consistent across all languages? Could you clarify this discrepancy?

Moreover, did you make an effort to inform all your players about these revised conditions when they were implemented? If so, how did you communicate these alterations to your user base?

One particularly concerning aspect is whether you continued to accept bets from players, including Russian residents, after introducing the new terms. If so, why did you not enforce the updated conditions consistently for all players?

Lastly, why was the decision made to cancel only the winning bets for the player, rather than all of them, and return their entire deposit? This raises questions about the fairness and consistency of your actions. Could you explain the reasoning behind this selective action?

Evo, ispravljen propust s moje strane.
876  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: September 04, 2023, 03:52:58 PM
We have registered another account back in 2014 named "eXch" which has no posts and was locked due to inactivity, however we still have its password:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=317539

Code:
Your account is locked because it sat inactive for years after the password hashes were leaked in 2015, and was therefore at high risk of being hacked. Email reactivate_2019_bgbs5[at]bitcointalk.org to get it unlocked.

Maybe the forum administration will consider deleting that account to rename this one.

Why not consider unlocking that account instead of requesting its deletion? Given the account's age, there might be some value in doing so.
I'm not sure about the exact requirements and what needs to be done, but have you tried sending an email to the provided address?

878  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to check for historical prices for coin years ago at exact time? on: September 03, 2023, 10:06:13 AM
Is there a way to do this for altcoins?  And how?  I know coinmarketcap you can check the history and what the high, low and closing price is for each coin for many years ago but what if you want to know the price of that coin at say 8am West Coast USA time?  Or say 5pm West Coast USA time?  Is there a way to do that or not before it is too long ago?  Now if it is recent, obviously you can check this.

CoinMarketCap is not an exchange, right? So, where does the price come from?

You will get the most precise data from the source itself. Find the exchange with the highest volume for each particular coin and check the price there for any specific date and time. Many large exchanges also offer an API that allows you to automate the process with a little bit of scripting. Here's an example:
How do I get all the prices history with binance API for a crypto using Python?

Can someone who has an account post a screenshot of how it looks?  Example you want to know the price of dash on January 3, 2022 at say 8am and 5pm USA West coast time.

Here is an excerpt from an example of the DASH-USDT trading pair on January 1, 2022. You can view the entire CSV on pastebin.

https://pastebin.com/XksE5JN0

Also it only gives hour by hour right?  You can't know the exact price at say 8:27am USA West Coast time?

No. It gives you a price per minute. The timestamp is in UNIX format.
879  Other / Meta / Re: Trust flags on: September 01, 2023, 03:57:32 PM
In this case I suppose that we should have a consensus that if conditions which led to a problem which was a reason for a supported flag were not solved, then the flag should not be revoked not depending on the efforts made for the exact victim.
How about (red part is new):

Or, how about leaving the text as is and just replacing "AND" with "AND/OR" ?

Quote
decodx alleges: whirlwindmoney violated a written contract, resulting in damages, in the specific act referenced here. whirlwindmoney did not make the victims of this act roughly whole, AND/OR it is not the case that all of the victims forgave the act. It is not grossly inaccurate to say that the act occurred around August 2023. No previously-created flag covers this same act, unless the flag was created with inaccurate data preventing its acceptance.

Members still have the discretion to decide whether or not to support the Flag, and in cases like this one, we wouldn't have to argue over semantics.
