8641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 220: Miocic vs Ngannou Info and Prediction Thread on: January 23, 2018, 01:27:31 AM
Those fans must be the casuals who only want to see big knockouts and action. Stipe's performance was one of the best I have seen in MMA. It was an example of how a martial artist can defeat a stronger opponent by using good technique, skill and fight IQ.

8642  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-21] South Korea’s Second Largest Bank Supports Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: January 23, 2018, 01:20:30 AM
Kookmin Bank's loss is Shinhan Bank's gain. The cryptocurrency pie is too big for all banks to ignore, especially if there are no signals from the regulators. The biggest banks might shy away, but you will have some younger tech-friendly banks jumping in. If cryptocurrencies really take off, then these banks could get a competitive advantage.

Correct. This is where we might witness big, gargantuan banks and other dominating enterprises fail to adapt with the emergence of the cryptospace while smaller, more nimble companies taking advantage of it.

In 5 years, I reckon cryptocoins will be so ordinary that we will all be ignoring it hehe.

8643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: January 22, 2018, 02:31:48 AM
Hello Aeon lovers, some of you might be starting to doubt if our small little coin will follow the footsteps of Monero. In truth the answer to that is I do not know. I am sure that most of you do not like to hear the truth but someone has to say it and it is for you to decide if you still want to be with us in our journey.

But there is some good news. Aeon is still in its longterm range and it always finds its way back in that range whenever it either goes too much down or too much up. I reckon we will see it touch the lower trendline once again in a few weeks.

8644  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-21] South Korea’s Second Largest Bank Supports Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: January 22, 2018, 02:01:28 AM
Banks are always in competition with each other, if one bank does not want to accommodate a market segment then another bank will take advantage of it and take them in.

I reckon Kookmin Bank will be forced to accepting those customers again as more and more banks start accepting cryptocoin related virtual accounts.

What kind of system do they have in South Korea? Can you make an exchange account tied to a virtual bank account and send and receive fiat between the accounts seamlessly?
8645  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-01-22] Cryptocurrency Markets Aren't All the Same on: January 22, 2018, 01:22:13 AM
After reading this interesting perspective on the cryptocoin markets, I reckon that there might me a start of a paradigm shift in the cryptospace. Market data sites will order their data into more categories like what they do in the stock market. We might soon see Bitcoin in a different category from Ethereum, and the 2 might not be considered as competitors anymore.

Bitcoin's direct competitors would then be litecoin, bitcoin cash and the rest of the store of value coins. While Ethereum will be in another category with a different set of competitors like NEO, Ethereum Classic or NEM.

In essence, this will create a new and more positive view in the cryptospace. Not just one place where there are full of scams because not all of them are. Unlike how bitcoin maximalists view them.

There are two other broad categories of cryptocurrency among the biggest "altcoins": Those launched by platforms designed for "smart contracts" and initial coin offerings (Ethereum, NEO, NEM, EOS), and those "minted" by projects working on blockchain-based transaction processing for the finance industry (Ripple, Cardano). Stellar, the nonprofit project whose cryptocurrency is called the Lumen, falls into both these categories.

Over the last 30 days, the currencies launched by Ethereum competitors have showed the strongest price correlations with Ether, Ethereum's currency. And they haven't been moving in unison with Bitcoin.

One can be skeptical, like my colleagues on the Bloomberg View editorial board, that crypto — decentralized or harnessed by central banks — is the future of money. In that case, it makes sense to stay away from Bitcoin, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. But that doesn't rule out believing in other applications of the technology. For example, if one holds that initial coin offerings are a sound way to attract investment and that the blockchain is good for registering property rights and storing contracts, then Ethereum and its competitors are worth watching and perhaps backing. Deciding which ones depends on whose technology or market one likes best: There are different arguments, for example, in favor of China-based NEO and for EOS, with its focus on fast processing.

For a believer in the blockchain as the ultimate replacement for the current money transfer infrastructure such as the Swift system, Ripple's and Cardano's digital currencies make sense. But these investments may be particularly risky, since it's not quite clear whether the currencies will ever gain broad acceptance as part of their creators' increasingly popular money-moving solutions.

8646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports content writers wanted on: January 22, 2018, 01:08:45 AM
Try asking some of the tipsters here if they are interested. Some of them might be good in making sports analysis and previews. But I cannot say the same about their predictions hehehe. Sportsbetting is a very deceiving game.
8647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 220: Miocic vs Ngannou Info and Prediction Thread on: January 22, 2018, 12:36:10 AM
Last night I am itching to place a bet on Miocic when  saw the odds and I should have done so. Miocic looks pissed at Dana White and grabbed the belt before Dana strapped the belt to Miocic's waist. UFC hyped up Ngannou and make him look like the next cash cow of UFC, but Ngannou's power is no match with the fight plan of Miocic.

When Dana White was interviewed by Fox Sport, Dana mentioned something about Ngannou going to France for a vacation and that 2 weeks prior to the fight. Who would go on a vacation 2 weeks before a main event. But Nganou is graceful at defeat and accepted what happened to him tonight.

There are 2 guys right now that is in line for the next match of Miocic, Cain Velasquez and Daniel Cormier. But UFC will ahve 2 problems to think of before that book either of the two. cain Velasquez has gone surgery after surgery and his body may not be able to deliver what is being expected for him to do. Daniel Cormier needs to step up as he is currently at Light Heavyweight.

Stipe felt he was disprespected by Dana White and the UFC. Did you see that he moved the Monster energy drink can away from him during his press conference? That was their sponsor and that should always be visible to the audience. Stipe wittingly moved the can away to show his aversion to the UFC as an organization, I reckon.

Also, Francis Ngannou has shown that he has more to learn about the game. I was so mistaken to think that he was the next great champion in the UFC.
8648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: January 20, 2018, 03:18:17 AM
@boomboombazookajeff. I agree. I speculate we will see a wave of sellers caused by disappointment from the slowness of development of the code rebase. Smooth has said that he is auditing the first candidate submission. I predict that it will not pass the smooth standard and we will be back to nothing all over again.

@comp. Was the slb the first one to do a code submission a candidate code rebase? I reckon it was another developer.
8649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What Is The Future of BTG ( Bitcoin Gold) ? on: January 20, 2018, 03:06:23 AM
@magecoin88. One sure outcome for bitcoin gold.

It will not have a future as a real payment system or a currency being used by a critical mass of users like bitcoin. BTG will be nothing but a forked coin that will not be taken seriously. Trade it if you must, but I am sure you will be trading them back for bitcoin in the end.
8650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 220: Miocic vs Ngannou Info and Prediction Thread on: January 20, 2018, 02:59:27 AM
@eaLiTy. That would be Stipe's plan, but I reckon Francis Ngannou will be ready for it. Francis will barrage and pressure the champion for the whole 2 rounds, and with his speed and his physical strength, we may see him connect 1 punch and knock out Stipe within those rounds.

In any case, we are seeing the beginning of a new era in the heavyweight division.
8651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Gas fee just reduced to 1 GAS? on: January 20, 2018, 01:49:07 AM
@puremage111. Maybe users and developers are slowly reducing using it because it appears to have the same problems as bitcoin hehehe. Speaking for myself, I know the high fees and slow confirms have made me stopped gambling with bitcoin.

How are the cryptokitties activity? I reckon it was the kitties that caused all Ethereum's high fee problems.
8652  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-19] Hong Kong Bitcoin Trader Robbed of $180,000 on: January 20, 2018, 01:41:43 AM
The ironic thing is the businessman should have agreed to talk to those people only if the meeting took place in a bank. I know it would be funny and contrary to expectation to some of you, but banks are among the safest establishments the world.
8653  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-19] NYSE Parent Company Launches Cryptocurrency Data Feed on: January 20, 2018, 01:36:04 AM
@AK47. It also would mean that if mainstream traders and speculators in Wall Street and other trade center cities want cryptocoin data feeds, then I would confidently say that the cryptospace is here to stay. Also, it shows that it is slowly being interlaced in mainstream society.

I reckon in 5 years, little kids would know what bitcoin is and it would be very ordinary to them.
8654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Oscar Awards 2018 Betting on: January 19, 2018, 01:52:23 AM

Update on rebase bounty

I have received one submission of (claimed) working code for the rebase bounty. I'm evaluating and testing it and expect to be opening it up to wider community review and input shortly.

Can you tell us who the developer is? I assume it is not slb from the tone of your announcement hehehe. If it was him, you would have said it already.

In any case, let us see. I am not that optimistic it will pass the smooth standard however.

@Steve_Sanders. It is more recommendable to connect your client to a public node.
8656  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-01-19] NYSE Parent Company Launches Cryptocurrency Data Feed on: January 19, 2018, 01:21:53 AM
What does this piece of news should mean to us? It means that cryptocoins and the cryptospace will be always here to stay, no matter what the regulators in China or in South Korea, or in any country say.

I boldly speculate that in 5 years, bitcoin and the top 20 altcoins, excluding the rest, will be over a trillion dollars in market capitalization.

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE), a leading operator of global exchanges and clearing houses and provider of data and listings services, and Blockstream, a leader in blockchain technologies and financial cryptography, announced today the launch of the Cryptocurrency Data Feed. ICE Data Services’ new feed offers real-time cryptocurrency information and will initially include data from more than 15 cryptocurrency exchange venues globally. The exclusive agreement between ICE Data Services and Blockstream offers extensive coverage of prices and order book data for bitcoin and several other leading cryptocurrencies.

“With the broad array of cryptocurrencies and exchanges, and given the price variances between exchanges, it’s critical that investors have a comprehensive source of pricing information,” said ICE Data Services President and COO, Lynn Martin. “We’re excited to work with Blockstream, which is focused on bringing institutional-quality data to the market, and we look forward to expanding the feed and our strategic relationship with Blockstream over time.”

The Cryptocurrency Data Feed is a multi-asset and multi-venue data feed capturing the majority of cryptocurrency exchange trading volume for leading cryptocurrencies measured against the U.S. Dollar and other major currency pairs. Blockstream works with cryptocurrency exchanges around the world and consolidates the disparate data sets into a normalized and standardized data source that includes real-time and historical trade information, as well as other relevant order book data such as quantities, prices, currencies, and timestamps. This is designed to enable ICE Data Services’ customers to receive global market representative trading data in a real-time feed with high quality information.

@LTU_btc. On Robert Kubica, I reckon the sport has left him behind. Formula 1 cars are very much different 10 years ago compared to what we have now. Not only that, tire compounds are also different. It was something Robert has not adapted to yet during his tests in Williams.
8658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: January 18, 2018, 02:11:24 AM
A Robert Kubica comeback would have been good for the sport and would have also made a nice Formula 1 fairy tale story, but if his skills are not good as they were years ago, then what for?

I reckon Williams did their best for both the driver and the team.
8659  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-17] Korea Blocks Access to Crypto Trading for Soldiers on: January 18, 2018, 02:02:09 AM
Cryptocoin trading could harm the soldiers morale? Have they made studies behind that claim? Because if not, then it is the responsibility of their journalists to do some investigative journalism and place the issue to the public eye. Their government cannot be allowed to release FUD after FUD just because they can.
8660  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-1-17]Cboe's First Bitcoin Futures Contract Expired Today on: January 18, 2018, 01:43:52 AM
@BitHodler. Also no bitcoin really changes hands after expiration of the contracts. The CME Group's futures contracts function more like contracts for difference. All that does is trade the movement of the markets without really holding the asset. Therefore it is useless manipulating the real bitcoin market.
