i have a new S5, i could not reach 1.15t ?
max that i get is 500-800
using thermaltake 730 psu
updated to latest firmware
picture attached

Do you happen to have a different PSU you could try?  I have a feeling you are trying to get the ~ 590 W (at the wall) from two pci-e cords looking at that PSU online.  If you happen to have a PSU with 4 different PCI-e cables (not plugs) and has enough watt's as well I think that will fix your problem.

But after PSU i would look at the following:

If it's hashing around half this is normal guide i would suggest - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S

And after that checking connections/pcb - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204875015-How-to-diagnose-S5-hashing-PCB

But again I think this is going to be about PSU just from first glance.
8702  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Choosing a PSU on: June 17, 2015, 06:05:14 PM
Also remember that the Corsair CX750 only has 2 x pci-e plugs and the S5 needs 4.

In all honesty you're better off going for a branded psu with minimum 4 pci-e connections or a server supply with the same.

If you're thinking about getting another S5 in the future then the EVGA Supernova 1300 or 1600 look just about perfect for the job as philipma1957 mentioned a few posts back as they both have 8 pci-e connectors.
I've seen other people mention this here that the CX750 only has 2 pci-e plugs, this is wrong. As per Corsair's site it has 4 plugs - http://www.corsair.com/en/cx-series-cx750m-modular-atx-power-supply-750-watt-80-plus-bronze-certified-modular-psu

I also don't like using Dogie's guide. Reason being he gives his rating but doesn't state why for example EVGA Supernova 1300W gets 93.0 rating, while the exact same model in 1100W version gets 78.0 or something similar  Huh Huh.....No explanation and it doesn't make sense. Also, he states the CX750 has 2 connectors, which is probably why people don't realise it has 4.

One last comment, what constitutes a no-name PSU? Corsair/Thermaltake/Cougar/CoolerMaster/EVGA/Gigabyte , is it safe to say these aren't no-names?

I can't tell for sure but the CX750M almost looks like it has 2 pci-e cables with 2 pci-e plugs on each which would be listed as 4.   But since if it is really just using 2 cables it's not the same as having 4 different pci-e cables.

I would try to find someone on here who has that model to see if it's really 2 cords or 4 cords.
8703  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Choosing a PSU on: June 17, 2015, 04:24:16 PM
Also remember that the Corsair CX750 only has 2 x pci-e plugs and the S5 needs 4. You could probably use molex to pci-e converters but I'd be wary putting that wattage / amps through them because they can get hot and even melt which is obviously a fire risk.

In all honesty you're better off going for a branded psu with minimum 4 pci-e connections or a server supply with the same. Please take a look at Dogies psu guide if you need any help with an atx unit: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=486121.0.

If you're thinking about getting another S5 in the future then the EVGA Supernova 1300 or 1600 look just about perfect for the job as philipma1957 mentioned a few posts back as they both have 8 pci-e connectors.

Don't even attempt molex to pci-e.   On wattage like this it's not if there is a problem but when.    Converting to pci-e cables normally are also not very good gauge cable, add that to mix as well.

Avoid this just like no name low quality PSU's.

Yeap i double checked the connections and switched cables around Sad

Using a Delta 2000W thingy.

I took it out and also saw the wet pastes and even reapplied it as well.

Looks like the board is truly dead?

I would check the PSU as final thing i you have another S5 to make sure psu is working (you might have done this already).

If you have done that it's not looking good for the board, sounds like it's likely having a problem.   You can start a ticket over here to talk to Bitmain Support about the troubled board.  Tell them all you have done to troubleshoot in ticket, I'm guessing it is likely needing replaced. - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us .
8706  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: June 17, 2015, 08:51:22 AM
The easiest way is enroll signature campaign. If you lucky enough..try to find fixed campaign like Bitstar , Dadice , Luckybit , etc

For example Dadice can earn 0.2 per month if your reach Senior rank. You will able to reach BTC 1 in 5 months

But if you have additional skill like drawing skill, designing, coding , even having something to sell ...you can promote all in service and good section

you can earn 1 bitcoin just in a minute with gambling...

Yeah if you have luck enough, you will get rich with instant but just don't get addict for it.

Depending on your amount of post's some campaigns can be better then others.   Don't spam always have a post with substance or good chance of temp ban if you have sig spamming.

But if you post a lot one that allows higher per week might be better for you.   It very much depends on the poster and how active they are.   Also some will depend on what sections you tend to post on.   Off-topic and other's some do not count in some campaigns.
8707  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best investment place? Mining or Investing or Trading? on: June 17, 2015, 08:46:10 AM
I would have to say trading in altcoins is a good way to make profit and also to lose quickly, it does take a bit of time to keep an eye on the coins and the movements and scams and so on but the profit is there, you do however need to invest a decent amount of time.

This is very true on investing.  It can be a good profit or a bad loss.  I would highly suggest starting off slow on investing in altcoins.   There are just a lot of pump/dump coins that have made the alt coin market a little harder the it was at one point in my view.   Just really go slow don't dump your entire budget at once and jump in.

If right conditions mining can be done well.  I personally am a miner at heart and enjoy it.

I would say part of it is finding what you enjoy.   I hold a little in altcoin's just for fun, so you can mix the two.  But I by far keep BTC as my main investment over alt coins.  Its a huge YMMV field on investing on altcoins.

Looks like a double post Smiley.   I put my 2 cents in on how to find the IP - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1090973.msg11639847#msg11639847

I would try to find IP and set it up.   The SD card reset is a possible solution mentioned above will reset the unit.  But reading your post I think you should be able to do it just by finding IP.  I would look into this a bit before jumping to resting.
8709  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Trouble connecting sp31 spondoolies on: June 17, 2015, 08:34:27 AM
What's an sp31 spondoolie?  Is this related to bitcoin!?

Yes it is, i am mining in btc guild but it is shitting down and i want to change pool

Is this miner located with you (ie on your home network).   If so should be pretty simple.  It is hit/miss on this but if you open http://myminer.io/ it sometimes show's the SP gear on your network and current ip.   If not you can go to your router and look at connected devices and find IP there for the miner.

You will need to sign up to another pool.   Enter pool information on configuration page.  Look at status after to make sure it's working.

This period has been really nice as far as BTC pricing.   It's settled down some from earlier jumps, currently a little over 250.

And with bitwisdom looking like this it could be a very nice time during this change:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    49,692,386,355
Estimated Next Difficulty:    50,998,155,506 (+2.63%)
Adjust time:    After 1596 Blocks, About 11.3 days

Getting half hash speed and one board full of dashes

Miner suddenly went into this mode and it's always the same board.

I tried running it in one board mode and the other board works well. Sometimes when running in two boards, the hash rate will drop to 0

Tried reflashing firmware, hard reset and also reflashing with Keep Settings unticked. Double checked all wirings. Tried changing PSU also.

It sounds like you have eliminated software as cause with re-flashing.  Here is the guide for hashing around 1/2 speed but it sounds like you already did what it suggests - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S

What model PSU's are you using?  Also I would go through this to check all PCB/cables look good/snug - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204875015-How-to-diagnose-S5-hashing-PCB

Price jumped to over 250....  so very nice day.
8713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: June 16, 2015, 03:45:15 PM
First thing... the power source is the one recommended in the tutorial Corsair CX750M @750W. In online shops here this PSU has 4 PCI-E plugs with 6+2 pins and from the pictures I've seen there are 4 separate cables... that's why I asked cause was confusing. Now I understand what I have to do if I'll go this way.
Secondly... I totally get the idea of independence. It doesn't work like the ones on USB but having more machines will each produce the same amount in the same time.
But for the time being I'll reconsider the whole concept of mining, cause from what I see you must have powerful machines of over 2TH that can actually produce some profit. The S5 is no longer powerful enough at actual difficulty rate.
I was also looking for more powerful machines like S4+ but they are very expensive and to make it count one should have at least 2 of those. Also looked for second hand ones(S4+) here in my country but they are sold for the price of a new one which doesn't make sense.
So I'll take my time to think it over.
Thank you guys. You've been very helpful.

It is easy to get sucked into looking at looking at number of TH, but depending on electricity price the more efficient as far as electricity might be a bigger deal.  You don't have to start huge. Nice thing is you can always start with a S5 and add more if you want to.

Both the S5 and S4+ have their own advantages.  One thing to keep in mind with S4+ is the needing of (205V - 264V AC).  So if you have 120 not really the one for you.  You can get 220/240 installed though, I have done it in my miner area.

In my eyes either one you mentioned is a nice way to get into mining.

8714  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: June 16, 2015, 12:15:52 PM
Hello guys.
I have one question regarding the PSU for the S5 cause I've been looking around on online shops here in my country and most PSUs come with 6+2 PCI-E pins and the S5 has only 6 pins PCI-E. Enlarging the pictures of PSUs and the S5 to see if the 6 pins plug can go into the 6+2 plug of the PSU noticed that the round and square pins differ. Is there any adapter from 6+2 pins plug to 6 pins plug?
The PSUs I've been looking for are 750W, one 12V rail, at least 4 PCI-E plugs (but 6+2 pins plug only) and gold standard.
Also in terms of productivity for those using this machine... How long does it take for this machine to make 1 BTC? I'm asking this question because I want to make some calculations according to energy costs to see if it worth to use it at home or in a data center.
Thanks!

What brand/model is the psu?  You might check and see if it's 4 seperate cables, and not two cables with 2 adapters on each.   Nubminer is right that the 6 pins are all that is used.

As far as how long here is my favorite ROI calculator - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty .  It varies since difficulty changes no one can give you an exact anwser on timeline to get to 1 BTC.

Thank you for the info. That helps alot.

Now one more question... a friend of mine suggested that he would buy one as well and we should connect them both over my place to use the same IP address... Now having 2 machines connected at the same pool from the same IP address will work the same as USB ones that are connected over a USB hub? I mean will their hash rate multiply some how or split the work between them so that they finish faster?

You can have multiple machines but they will need diferent IP's they cannot share IP's.   As far as doing it you will be connected to a pool and use different pool worker names.   The S5 has a controller board on it that does all the work it does not use a usb hub to mine.  Having more would just give you more hashing speed.

They are pretty simple to be honest you log in and set it up to mine.   After that you only  use the PC to check on it.  The S5 mines without usb/computer being used.
8715  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: June 15, 2015, 10:55:57 PM
Ok I tried something else.
I made a antenna from old wireless device I had.

I connected the S3 to my PC via ethernet, I had to change my my laptop PC adresse to 192.168.0.X to 192.168.1.X to access the S3 because my router is 192.168.0.1

After doing that I changed the LAN Ip adress of the S3 to 192.168.0.101 to make it accessible via my laptop without changing my ip address all the time.
I setup the wifi connection which worked the S3 is connected to the network.

Then I tried to setup the wwan interface, both with DHCP or static address and I just cannot access the S3 after deconnecting the ethernet cable from it.

I even see the device in my router DHCP list addresses but it remains unaccessable and doesnt hash...

And I changed back my laptop IP address to DHCP

Any tips here ?

No need to keep using 2 threads pick one Smiley

Again my 2 cents - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=702653.msg11627684#msg11627684

Hi all,

I am wondering if it's possible to use antminer S3 plugged with ethernet to my laptop which is on wifi ?
Any idea how to configure it this way ? because for some physical reason I can't plug it directly to my router.

Thx !!

Yes look up window's connection sharing.  But you should be able to use it with your router.

If you are having trouble with network maybe post screenshot of network page on S3 and tell us your network info.  Or use DHCP and it will set it for you, and find it connected to your router.

I would dive more into the networking issue then trying to use a laptop 24x7 just for networking.   If you mean you only have wifi you can get networking adapters that take wifi and provide a lan cable connection.

I even see the device in my router DHCP list addresses but it remains unaccessable and doesnt hash...

And I changed back my laptop IP address to DHCP

Any tips here ?

I see 2 options either static or dchp.   If you show us the network screen on your S3 we can try to help say what settings need changed.   With this we can try the static route.

But without seeing it it with your router would be something like following:
Static
IP Address: 192.168.0.X  (enter an IP that is not being used on X)
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

(The above assumes some guesses based on what you have said but it will be something like that)

Other option is turn S3 to DHCP and it should configure it on its own.   Just see devices after.  You might need to set a DNS  I personally use google normally very easy to remember 8.8.8.8 .

Either one should work.

Price is 236 and rising nicely.  Could be a good week if price keeps going up.

Early in this change but might see a 5 again.
8718  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Choosing a PSU on: June 15, 2015, 05:06:31 PM
Hi, take a look at Dogies PSU guide with specs: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=486121.0

I mentioned the Corsair modular PSU's which I have used to power S1's & S3's and they worked fine. I haven't had an S5 though.

I think you'd probably need the RM1000 from Corsair to power an S5 adequately and safely because they require 4 x pci-e connectors ( 2 for each board ).

Alternatively look at the other brands or server PSU's that people have mentioned.

As far as PSU's you cant go wrong with RM1000's, EVGA Supernova 1300, even have one Rosewill Lightning 1300W.   None of these have ever given me a problem.  I have quite a few of the RM1000's at this point.

Keep in mind I use these as I had them here.   If your buying PSU's the current trend is to go for server grade ones over standard ATX.   If you have 220/240 this new wave will be especially beneficial to you.
8719  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cooling Costs for 50KW of Miners on: June 15, 2015, 01:59:01 PM
*snip*
Anyone know what kind of decibels your operations are creating outside the facility?  My other concern is the noise factor even though it's zoned industrial.

Are your concerns about the noise of your mining equiptment, the required fans or both?

I'm not sure where you live, but I think even in Industrial zones (in most countries) there are regulations about the maximum amount of decibel allowed. If so, I think you should already know about this regulations. Otherwise contact the municipality, or simply contact (loudy) neightbours in the Industrial zone that have to deal with the same regulations.

Depends highly on your location.   I am lucky and have my miners located in a area for regular crop farming.  There is just not a lot of regulations as far as noise and such.

Go down the road a few miles into the town and there are tons of regulations.   So varies on where your located.   Very much a YMMV thing.
