8741  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: November 21, 2016, 03:58:00 PM
I'd like to add btcrocket.biz and btcrocket.net (those two are the same) because I didn't find it in the list on page 10, I'll be posting pics for reference but here's the thing:

I've deposited minimum to test it out, after a few days, tried to withdraw, withdraw pending for a few days, support is not answering. Also I've accidently typed .net instead of the .biz that I've tested and the same page came out, everything's the same but the database is different.

I'd like to add in 3dayinvest.com SCAM !!! deposit $5 ... can't withdraw

Both websites you guys mentioned are ponzi schemes and as OP said in the notice :

"I have removed any obvious ponzi sites (E.G "Double your bitcoins in 2 days") from the list and they will not be added; everyone should already know to avoid these and adding them will only unnecessarily inflate this list. Faucets will also not be added to this list."

So he won't be adding them any time soon.
8742  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit HD and SegWit ? on: November 21, 2016, 08:31:20 AM
I understand, however I would prefer to stay on Multibit classic if possible. I see that 0.5.18 release came out on September
https://multibit.org/releases/multibit-classic/multibit-0.5.18/
so maybe an updated version for Segwit comes out?

Github is probably the best place to know when the version was actually released : https://github.com/keepkey/multibit/releases and as you can see , It got released last year and once again Multibit Classic development is no longer supported.

as for the URL you posted , It's probably the day when It uploaded to the website and not the release date as If you change the version in the URL , you will see the same date and hour .
8743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gradma knows about bitcoin. on: November 21, 2016, 07:54:22 AM
So I was watching pranks last night and came accross MagicRahat channel.
He was pranking to pay apple pay with a real apple here  https://youtu.be/-BP6880VzfM
then there's this grandma said, you know about bitcoin? It's untraceable.

Just gonna leave it here to share. There is also a couple of it bein mentioned in other videos.
Imo it kinda help to make people aware of it.

Nice share man but from what I understood , she didn't mean it with a nice way. "you know about bitcoin? It's untraceable... and now this (paying with a real Apple)" , for some reasons I felt like she is against it. Still , those who don't know about Bitcoin and watched the video will probably google about it. so It's a win win Grin
8744  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum crashes on Windows 10 on: November 21, 2016, 07:24:52 AM
I had that issue once and It got fixed by deleting the config file on the %appdata%/Electrum directory as shown here :

8745  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit HD and SegWit ? on: November 21, 2016, 06:57:04 AM
What about Multibit classic? If SegWit kicks in, will my bitcoins be available or I will have to move to another wallet?

Multibit classic is no longer supported and If you check the repository , you will see that there was no commits (modification in the source code) since 2015 : https://github.com/keepkey/multibit and If you check Bitcoincore SegWit adoption , you will see that It's not even listed there : https://bitcoincore.org/en/segwit_adoption/ so I suppose you will have to change your wallet once SegWit kicks in. But no worries , as long as you have your private keys , you should be fine.
8746  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase asked to provide info from 2013-2015 to IRS. So far they are hedging. on: November 21, 2016, 06:39:36 AM
As an update , It seems like Coinbase refused to give information's to the government  and they are taking this case to court from what I read : https://cointelegraph.com/news/coinbase-will-take-irs-to-court-over-consumer-privacy-attack
8747  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: November 20, 2016, 08:56:43 PM
OP has been updated. Thanks all! Wink

what about maximum amount available in post/weekly   | post/monthly campaign column ??
What do you mean exactly?

He means maximum amount of posts that the campaign is going to pay for. It could be a good idea but I'm not sure how the table you made is going to fit for more columns at this point.
8748  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Manipulation is real on: November 20, 2016, 07:32:54 PM
Dont see why the markets have any influence on bitcoin at all or any other that involves fiat.
If you can tell me otherwise I would be grateful.
Isn't bitcoin supposed to be independent from Fiat currencies?

It is but Bitcoin is also based on supply and demand , If (for example) governments makes something to their citizen and don't allow them to withdraw most of their cash from banks etc... people will eventually want to switch for something else where they have more freedom (Bitcoin in this case) and the price will logically increase as there is more demand. As for the manipulation by millionaires as I said then they are Bitcoin holders themselves.
8749  Economy / Speculation / The Manipulation is real on: November 20, 2016, 07:04:17 PM
I came back from school like 3 hours ago , I first checked preev.com and the price was 747$ or something now It's currently 715$ . I now know for sure that this definitely some manipulation by some rich millionaires and It has nothing to do with India cash news. Feel free to share your thoughts !
8750  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore all local boards option? (And altcoins to a lesser degree of importance) on: November 20, 2016, 06:03:07 PM

Oh. I should write this out a little more clearly.

I know you can ignore boards but to ignore all of the local boards you literally need to go through and check ~100 boxes off. I think there should be a way to just ignore every local board with one click of a button. That way if new local boards are created they're already blocked.

That won't be fair If you ask me. You are asking for an option to ban all Localboards but that only fits you and some other members on the forums.
Other members would like to ban other low quality sections such as Micro earnings,Investor based games , Legal , Meetups , Press , Politics and society with one click. I know those aren't too many but I'm just trying to proof a point here , If you have some sections that you dislikes , you should understand that other users dislikes other boards and would like to ignore them with one click... but implementing what each user wants is impossible.
8751  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: hyipshop.com is scam 100% on: November 20, 2016, 05:18:13 PM
As a start , this website is not even using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) while they are taking payments which means they don't give a damn about their security and customers privacy.
Now , I don't mean to be rude but your friend was probably going to scam people with HYIP (which is a type of ponzi scheme) so he probably deserve it somehow.
8752  Economy / Exchanges / Re: List of bitcoin debit cards on: November 20, 2016, 04:50:44 PM
It has to be because of sanctions, sucks for the people like you. I hope that not being able to use bitcoin debit cards hasn't been a huge issue for you. Are there any alternative ways to cash out your bitcoins or use them to shop online?

I never had any issues honestly , I don't really shop online , If I do It's only for buying from Steam (they started Bitcoin as a payment method since a few months now) I also know some people who I sell them Bitcoin for my local currency so cashing out isn't hard. Another alternative would be to trade them for PayPal,Skrill or Neteller and shop online.

8753  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy bitcoin? on: November 19, 2016, 06:19:02 PM
Do i buy bitcoins or wait?

If you want to make a quick profit then you shouldn't buy , If you want to invest for the long term then you can definitely buy. Some might advice you to wait till the price goes down but I don't as no one knows what's going to happen and If it's the price is going to decrease or stays the same.
8754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Korea, Dubai Move to Regulate Bitcoin on: November 19, 2016, 05:53:04 PM
In looking to follow the legal frameworks set by the United States and Japan, Korea is set to become one of the few countries to regulate Bitcoin and its use.

The country’s financial regulator, The Financial Services Commission, said on Thursday Nov. 17 that it would introduce regulatory guidelines for digital currency exchanges by the first quarter of 2017, in response to the growing popularity of Bitcoin and other digital currencies traded online in Korea.

As for Dubai , A regional publication, Trade Arabia, has also reported a similar regulatory move by the Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) of Dubai. It says that the most populous city within the UAE is holding a workshop on Nov. 20 to discuss the present and future legislative policies and legal frameworks for Bitcoin.

If 2017 is not going to be "the year of Bitcoin" then I don't know which year would be.
8755  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: bitcoin.org "choose your wallet" on: November 19, 2016, 04:32:30 PM
Unlike Coinbase and other services , Blockchain.info don't control our private keys and don't have our password stored in their servers but It's hackable , anyone with access to their servers could try to crack the wallet.dat and get some $$ in his hands with no effort as some passwords are weak.
I have one question could someone can also get hands in the bitcoins that was imported in blockchain.info if they crack wallet.dat file? And even getting access to wallet.dat file from blockchain.info server hacker will have hard time to crack individual wallet which they even don't know how much bitcoin it carry.

However it is true that no any web wallets should be considered as safe place to store bitcoins.

If by importing the wallet.dat (private keys) means swapping them to other private keys on blockchain.info servers then the imported wallet will be useless but If someone puts his hands on the wallet.dat on the servers on blockchain then cracking it would be possible. wallet.dat contains a lot of information's[1][2][3] and there is some tools to read them[4] so I assume It's possible to read the addresses + balance without the need of cracking it, after having the addresses that contains a lot of BTC , the cracking begins process begins.

A few days ago , elitepvpers introduced their new bumping system : http://www.elitepvpers.com/news/en/4180313-bump-like-you-have-never-bumped-before-new-bump-system.html so I'm pretty sure your tool will no longer works as they have new rules now and they won't allow bumps unless you use the new button If I got it right.
8757  Economy / Exchanges / Re: List of bitcoin debit cards on: November 19, 2016, 03:22:26 PM
This could be a web-dev mistake. Knowing that most bitcoin debit cards are in fact issued by the same bank I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, because the same bank would naturally pose the same restrictions. I guess that the best way would be to email them in order to confirm.

I'm from Algeria and I did some research and I can confirm that they don't ship to Algeria.
This was also confirmed from : https://www.cryptocompare.com/wallets/cryptopay-usd-verified/ and from the official support page as well : https://support.cryptopay.me/hc/en-us/articles/206366353-What-countries-does-Cryptopay-issue-cards-to-
This is valid for all Bitcoin debit cards out there , Neteller is the only thing that was working but It got banned once again a few days ago AFAIK and only way we was able to spend the BTC is by transfering it to another individual as spending them online or ATM was impossibel.

8759  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: bitcoin.org "choose your wallet" on: November 19, 2016, 02:42:18 PM
So if blockchain.info isn't considered an secure wallet, why a lot of people use this wallet? Dumb?

There's a lot of wallets there, if one day this site got hacked, the bitcoin price will go to the ground...

People use it because they are used to it and they don't want to switch until something bad happens to their funds , It's human nature.  Blockchain.info was probably the first online wallet that got first created , with time , people was recommending others to use it because It's easy to use and have a good interface , without forgetting that gambling websites was giving blockchain.info as an option to store their funds .And now It became a habit and no one gives a damn about their security anymore.
Unlike Coinbase and other services , Blockchain.info don't control our private keys and don't have our password stored in their servers but It's hackable , anyone with access to their servers could try to crack the wallet.dat and get some $$ in his hands with no effort as some passwords are weak.
8760  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Ups and Downs ! on: November 19, 2016, 01:25:31 PM
What do you think about the ups and downs of the currency Bitcoin ?
Whether it's an advantage or a disadvantage?

With everything going on in India with cash and stuff , I guess It should be safe to say that this is an advantage as the price is increasing for a "reason". As long as the price increases with stability and without manipulations and pump-dump from big whales , It should be considered as an advantage otherwise It's a disadvantage . Experts in trading will still manage to make profit either way .
