Well resetting a civilization usually requires a lot of bloodshed and violence and some people saying these people are crazy don't they realize what they are doing and saying.

But in reality it really is as series of steps and hopefully we learn and get stronger as a species through the lessons we learn from those experiences.
Not pro war mind you but pro change even if its not of the violent type of reset.
8785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wow! This is kind-of an exciting way to look at bitcoin on: March 30, 2014, 04:12:39 AM
TCP-IP for financial transactions - I love it.  But the protocol is presently very weak and disorganized with a bunch of loonies running the foundation.  I don't think the foundation in the present state is strong enough to protect and advance a protocol for something so important as money.  I think the foundation - rather than a technical defect will be the ultimate demise of bitcoin.  Now let's try to imagine what the second embodiment of 'the foundation' could be?  UN, US government?, Private company?, a new replacement foundation of better quality? Whatever it is, it will be forming itself pretty soon.

I agree with the article and the points above Bitcoin is definitely like the internet in many regards and the same with money

Topic of this thread is stupid. His family has nothing to do with it.

Agree even the mafia has a rule not to mess with families or declare a vendetta using omerta

Bitcoin will only be embraced by politicians and government officials when they learn how to use it to collect campaign contributions or fund their own retirement plans, in a way that has significant advantages over cash.

The process varies in different countries, but the principle is the same.

well yeah it's a good thing for cryptocurrency as a whole but there bitcoin community should take notice and start doing real stuff with all the millions$ some have

They are hosting conferences, petitioning the governments of the world, launching ATM's and building banks, even Goat has his charity thread and Dabs had one for the Philippines before its just that we don't notice them as often because there is a lot of stuff going on in Bitcoin while doge being smaller can make its efforts a lot more visible to its users.
8789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just so you guys know, altcoins isn't the reason for bitcoins price dropping on: March 29, 2014, 11:56:30 PM
Been hearing this a lot, its called the news and all the negative reportings surrounding btc thats dropping this

Stop putting the blame/excuses on altcoins or shitcoin (not defending shitcoins but it will sort itself out)

8790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: White House Petition to AMEND IRS NOTICE 2014-2 Taxing virtual currency/Bitcoin on: March 29, 2014, 11:55:42 PM
I like it the way it is;

Bitcoin is property and each coin can be individually tracked by its hash.

You can design a wallet that will spend newest hash first to reduce your tax liability below where it would be as a currency...

You cannot be required to sell one property before another because property is not fungible...

That sounds fairly proper for treating Bitcoin what is the alternative suggestion or approach then
8791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name something you've actually BOUGHT with bitcoin on: March 29, 2014, 11:49:52 PM
I feel like the vast majority of people are investors right now. Is anyone actually using bitcoin to buy things? If so, what? I've purchased other cryptocurrencies with it, but that's it so far...

8793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Built to Last a couple of decades? Will other altcoins rise up? on: March 29, 2014, 07:54:37 AM
What are your thoughts?

The alt-coin bubble is popping but it is what will emerge from the survivors should be some decent small cap coins with a possibility of a future
The rest end up cryto-trashed.

As for Bitcoin itself in five years

The ethereum project a concept right now and the Mastercoin project should be well underway so levels on top of the current bitcoin network will probably enhance and diversify it away from other crytpos.

That said their may be a differentation model and first gen alt coins like the ones presently will be super seeded by a handful of second gen coins with enhanced features like the ones mentioned above

Five years ago bitcoin was just an idea and not the revolution in finance it is today five more years and this period we are looking at now could be the 1990s internet innovative in its own right but something that can be built upon and improved to look like todays internet in comparison

So the future is still bright the stage may be set with a few more contenders small scale that will compete for number 2 or 3

8796  Other / Meta / Re: Top Posters [UPDATED CHARTS] on: March 29, 2014, 07:49:57 AM
I'm a bit confused on the second chart

First one is total users on X axis and number with a certain amount of posts as Y

But what does the second one measure?

8799  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: March 29, 2014, 07:41:16 AM
OP: I hope you took my advice:

1) Figure out your actual cost/BTC (starting with what you would have wanted for the house, and estimating the fees), i.e. How much would you have now if sold the normal way?
2) Now sell at least ~10% of the BTC (this week!) for a very small profit and ~10% when up ~$100/BTC
3) Buy back for a profit when BTC falls.
4) Sell on rallies and repeat, since you are increasing your number of BTC.

The Bear Market could get nasty + by selling only 20% you are not risking "missing out" on a huge Rally.
Take this advice or you may later really wish you had, good luck.

EDIT:
OP gone since March 15th....On vacation?

Probably doesn't want to hang out on the forums when he has BTC that or it might tempt him to much to do irrational things
8800  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How can I get 40 btc per day? on: March 29, 2014, 07:38:51 AM
40 BTC a day is a lot of money, the only ways to do that is to really get lucky in Altcoin trading or to have a large capital base. That said I don't think the second point applies here so pretty much either produce a product and get enough sellers to do that or suicide gamble lol.

As for acquiring them well ATM if your lucky a bitcoinstore is really rare, so best route is to use an exchange or localbitcoins if you do not want to verify. Can get a bit of change from quickbt as well.

Best of luck
