Take it off.

Run another miner, but change device 0 to device 1 for the second.
883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Issue with bitcoin GUI - Suddenly greyed out on: June 09, 2011, 09:10:56 AM
Hello,

today I opened the Bticoin GUI again, as usual, but the balance is showing 0.00 and all the transactions are suddenly greyed out and marked as unconfirmed.

What is wrong?

(Could not attach the screenshot: upload folder full)

Delete blk0001.dat and blkindex.dat and wait for the blockchain to redownload.

/offtopic Fail Quote

/ontopic.

I don't see how that would work, as I would need the new link hardcoded into the program. I -might- be able to work something out with dropbox and my no-ip. I'll have to see.

Eta for v3 - 1 hour (hopefully)
886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Difficulty Installing - Noob on: June 09, 2011, 08:52:47 AM
Ok I installed the AMD sdk but still the same problem.
Do you think I should un-install everything and re-install in the c:\ directory rather than program files ?

Do you have teamviewer or something? I can help over that.
887  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New Release! BitMiner - Advanced Miner GUI - Beta 2.1 on: June 09, 2011, 08:44:48 AM
will there be an ubuntu version?

If somebody donates a reasonable amount to me, it shouldn't take that long, but it will still take a bit of work to get it working with Mono.
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Difficulty Installing - Noob on: June 09, 2011, 08:23:34 AM
Ok I have tried those and others ways around, now the black screen just flash up. So I enter these into cmd direct and get this:

Import Error: No Module Names linecache
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "poclbm.py", line 3 , in <module>
Import Error: no module named pyopencl
....

You need to install the AMDAPPSDK to get OpenCL support.

could you please move away from the windows aero dependancy? i hate having it on. other then that, great software.

Just download the XP version. All that's different in that is I've disabled Aero for it Smiley

Cant see a download link for xp V2.1   Huh

Ah, dammit. Sorry I didn't update the post for it. Im gunna release Beta 3 in about an hour. Hang tight.

Haha no problem. What about integrating a small auto update, or atleast semi update that would notify the user about a update + link for it?

Not sure how i'd implement that, as I need a server for it for a static version file. If anyone reading this has one I can use, PM me.
890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would the network handle a sudden drop in hash rate? on: June 09, 2011, 08:04:33 AM
Hashing power dropping in half is not a sign of a healthy network.

If Bitcoin is still around in a year, I plan on investing in hardware that will only be used to mine in response to a drop in the network hash rate (most the time, it would be used for other things, or even sit idle).

If I write a nice script, other people may do the same thing Smiley

Edit: SomeoneWeird, difficulty takes 2 weeks to adjust.

Where did I say it would be immediate?

Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\poclbm\ poclbm.exe --host=mining.bitcoin.cz --port=8332 --user=*******.***** --pass=***** --device=0

I have replaced sensitive with stars **

Also I know this is not the exact code as suggested for the example, since I am not using 'start /DC:/' and instead using cd to change directory first.
I have to do this because of where I have installed bitcoin, as I believe spaces in the directory at 'Program Files (x86) causing problems.
I have also tried to seperate the lines and same issue.

Thanks for your help..

Try:

Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\poclbm\poclbm.exe" -d0 --host=mining.bitcoin.cz --port=8332 --user=*******.***** --pass=*****
893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would the network handle a sudden drop in hash rate? on: June 09, 2011, 07:56:27 AM
How much of the current hashing power of the network could be lost overnight without compromising the usability of Bitcoin for transactions? If everyone but me left, for example, it would probably take me months to find each block, and many years to find enough blocks for the difficulty to update to a more reasonable level. In the interim, transactions would go unconfirmed for months on end.

The network would probably get by OK with half the current hash rate, with blocks coming about every 20 minutes. But would a block an hour be acceptable? It would take almost a business day for transactions to confirm.

No, you would find block quicker as the difficulty adjusts itself accordingly.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: what is the formula on: June 09, 2011, 07:53:52 AM
that the online calculator uses to determine your btc a day based on your hash rate?
TIA

I like this calculator: http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator.php

He wants a formula. Not a calculator.
895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Difficulty Installing - Noob on: June 09, 2011, 07:44:18 AM
Hi, I have gone through the very thorough installation guides to joining the pool and getting the rig set up.

I feel I am almost there but I have a problem:

I am able to run the bitcoin server client correctly.
I have the poclbm files extracted and put into a new folder within the directory of bitcoin folder.
I have created the .bat file to run the poclbm pool thing and used my correct username and password to connect with the server, all is set up correctly at the website as well.

However, when I try to run this the screen just flashes up and goes away instantly. It does not appear to be the command prompt because it is a white screen, at least I think so.
I have read about this could be an issue with the driver and not having OpenCL installed corectly....

So I downloaded the GPU caps viewer, which indicates OpenCL is installed.
Also I have just updated my driver for the GPU I have. But still this problem happens.

My system is:

windows 7 64bit,
GPU Nvidia GT240
Intel i5 3.20Ghz

There was at one point an issue with a file being missing, that was the poclbm.py file, but I have since installed that from gimphub. Now it has this screen flash up...

I suspect that it could be a driver issue with my GPU, but I am not sure what to do next.
I have also tried to change the driver=0 to driver=1 in the .bat file.

Any help appreciated..

What's in your bat file?

Any other suggestions for Beta 3? Pretty much finished the stats page.
898  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New Release! BitMiner - Advanced Miner GUI - Beta 2.1 on: June 09, 2011, 02:46:11 AM
on a side note, to avoid tons of "whatever" + str1 + "something else" +str2, use string.format, it makes the code much neater Smiley

I am haha, as I said it's the reflection on the code that looks bad
899  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Downclocking 6970 Memory! on: June 09, 2011, 01:56:55 AM
In afterburner, lower the memory speed all the way down, click apply.  Then close afterburner and restart. You should then be able to decrease the memory even further.

Did exactly as you said. Brought it down to the lowest. Applied, closed out. Restarted. No cigar though.
Same minimum clock as before.

He means restart after burner, not your pc. If thats what you did.
900  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New Release! BitMiner - Advanced Miner GUI - Beta 2.1 on: June 09, 2011, 01:26:12 AM
suggestions:

ENCRYPT the file that has all the user data. not doing so is EXTREMELY dangerous.
------------
Code:
private void Form1_FormClosing(object sender, FormClosingEventArgs e)
    ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo("taskkill.exe", "/IM poclbm.exe /F");
a better way would be to use process.start to start the miner, and use process.kill or something to end it.
------------
Code:
private void p_OutputDataReceived(object sender, DataReceivedEventArgs e)
                StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(client.OpenRead("http://blockexplorer.com/q/getblockcount"));
it's better to cache the results. loading a new page every time the console outputs something (at least once per second) is just wasteful.
------------
Code:
public Miner(int Device, int framerate, bool vectors, int work, string Nickname, Pool p, MinerProgram mp, string PoolUser, string PoolPass, string host)
        string str2 = (((((("-d" + this.DeviceID) + " --host=" + this.pURI) + " --port=" + this.pPort.ToString()) + " --user=" + this.pUser) + " --pass=" + this.pPass) + " -f " + framerate.ToString()) + " -w " + work.ToString();
why so many brackets? also, you're missing some spaces in between the args.

1) I suppose I could do that, but then the person could just reflect the program and get the encryption key. May as well do it for v3.
2) Yeah I know it's a bit sloppy, I havn't been able to add the processes to an array, but when I figure out whats wrong there I can just go through the entire array calling kill().
3) It doesn't call it everytime it recieves output, it calls it when a new block has been started, I'll change it though.
4) The actual codes not like that, thats a result of reflecting it, I was like wtf when I saw that too haha.
