As a real crypto fan, a steady price makes me nervous, because I'm not used to it.

Stability ( steady growth, which is what BC is showing over the wider timeline ) is the only way we will take this technology out to a wider audience.

No merchant is likely to bet their business on a widely fluctuating currency, if there's a chance that the money they make today will be worth half in real terms tomorrow.

To achieve stability we need to broadcast far and wide news like Coinkite adoption etc etc etc, and stop with the hope that we'll be rich in 5 minutes. If you need to take profits, take what you need on the highs, plus maybe a bit more to plough back in on the lows, but make sure you leave some in for that 'who knows what might happen' moment in the future.

A slow steady climb is much more preferable

Exactly, which is the whole point of the experiment

NSF Explained

The NSF is designed to act as a speed bump - when things get out of hand in either direction the NSF has the ability to step into the market. As with all systems the NSF has a flaw too - it can be overwhelmed.  That is to say if a miner decides to dump, the NSF can only buy so much...alternatively if merchant and investment interest create tremendous demand the price can move rapidly higher.

The speed bump nature of the NSF is a way to gain acceptance, just like Hayek concluded.  The NSF does not prevent the price from appreciating significantly, it just aims to make the pace reasonable so end users of the currency will be attracted.  At the same time, the NSF cannot prevent the price falling to zero as it does not have enough fire power to buy every NAUT in existence.

-BK

I'm assuming that the speed bump was introduced at a couple of key points yesterday. The price looked like it was heading south of 18/19, and all of a sudden buy orders of several thousand were introduced at key levels. This forced (some) buyers to shift their orders above that level, and the price shifted north again.

If that was your system in play, then it worked, congratulations.

As a potential investor, doing my due diligence of this coin and deciding if and how much I am going to invest in BC I have to say that it is very annoying to read about "IE" and his actions all the time. I want to know if I should invest 20 BTC in BC or not, but if I see that this whole tread is dominated with personal remarks about "IE" I am really wondering if this coin is any good as it seems just one individual can influence the future of this coin.

I want to read more about the BC community, future plans, new ideas etc.

It is not only IE, I was in same position like you.....liked BC very much but the comunity is killing the coin with their bitchfights.
Instead of co operate, they fight wiht each other. This scares potential investors for sure, but they dont wanna see it.

It is very sad to see all those thread here on Bitcointalk only full with negativism, instead of happy people working together for the coin.

Watch that cast-thing and decide if you want to put your money in the hands of some youngsters, jumping in swimmingpools and smoking cigarettes during a this so important cast........

Any parent who wishes to do due diligence while considering schools for their children does not spend too much time standing in the playground at playtime. The playground will always have corners where spite and immaturity will occassionally surface. The playground is an area for letting off excess energy. Spending time talking with industrious students in class, and with their teachers, is much more instructive.

Find businesses accepting Blackcoin !

http://www.blackcoinmap.com/

If you're in charge of this do some cleaning or require people to have the accept BlackCoin on their website to get listed there.

http://www.watchesmontreal.com/ this guy is on the map but he is listing only btc and doge.

I know they are using mostly coinpayment for this but... put the damn logo there if you want free advertising.

I put this together. There are a number of people who don't have the BC logo on their site, but who do take payment in BC. It might be that some are, at the moment, hitching a free ride, but the way I see it is they may well be testing the idea, and, should the site generate traffic, decide that BC is worth taking payment then. Better to have the site populated with a few undecideds than none at all, especially at such an early stage.

That aside, I really don't have time to police something like this to that degree, having, as most of us do when contributing to the project, done so in my spare time without taking payment.

I appreciate your work and I know what pain in the *.. is to remove spam from such a project , having to check each and every one.

I just didn't want this one to end up like the map of auroracoin for Iceland where there are business listed on top of the mountain with no association whatsoever to Iceland or the coin.

Thanks, yes, I know what you mean, and do run a cursory check when new listings are added to try to make sure nothing ridiculous is added. I'll keep an eye on it as things progress.

kinda nice to be the leader and not the follower

Which reminds me ... anyone have any thoughts on BC slogan / tagline ? See here ...

BlackCoin Globally Accepted:

Do you have a business? Do you Accept BlackCoin? Add your business today!

http://www.blackcoinmap.com!

You saw this? http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/251hge/api_data_for_crypto_terminal_locations/

Would be great to merge the coinkite locations into the blackcoinmap.

That's a great idea, yeah. Damn. As soon as they go live..

Yes, that was mentioned a little while ago, and after releasing the API, I'll try to find some time to build this in. The intention is to have it ready for when we go live with Coinkite

EDIT : Coinkite's API wasn't mentioned, the idea of integrating their locations was. Many thanks for the CK API tip, that will make life a whole lot simpler !

Hi everyone I have been watching BlackCoin for some time now. I'm a representative of Crypto Jeweler.

We were contacted by a representative of the BlackCoin community interested in getting us to start accepting BlackCoin. We are interested in what the community response would be if we were to begin accepting BlackCoin.

You can check us out at: http://cryptojeweler.com

We are always open for feedback and look forward to your opinions.

You should just go ahead and start accepting payment by BlackCoin. Sign up for a https://moolah.io/ account and use their system to do so ( BC will be added 'imminently', they were aiming for Monday ).

Then plant your flag on www.blackcoinmap.com

Then tell everyone what you're doing

Then congratulate yourself for being one of the doers

I must have asked IconicExpert 10 times what he has on me as I am named co-conspirator, he just ignores me. I'm going to get on with the fund raising effort for the summer PR campaign. I believe we will see BC at more than $1 by end of summer Cheesy

Given the reaction so far, I wouldn't surprised to see BC at $1 by the end of the week

This from www.bandcamp.com ( in reply to a message sent  16th April )

"Hi there, sorry about the delay in responding - your message was lost for a while in the ethers of spamland. We are looking into other payment options for the future, possibly including Black Coin, but there aren't any concrete plans yet - please stay tuned!"

If they need more information, I could help them set it up.. Possibly also we can use a solution like Coinkite so they dont have the risk of liquidating to $$ where needed. (as long as BLK is not closed loop^^)

I've PM'd you. Bandcamp adoption would be something worth actively pursuing.
