882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 17, 2023, 09:57:01 AM
He's not and he never will be.
Well, I wouldn't say "he never will be" interested or involved in such a project.

I'm over 1,000% sure he will never mention this project, never touch it, never even sneeze in its general direction. It's basically ripping off another coin named PIVX. They didn't properly fork it in GitHub, they just cloned it, changed a few things, and said its a new coin. Even their website - which the developers are too lazy to finish - largely plagiarizes PIVX documentation:

He's not talking about that. He's talking about why the signup feature doesn't work, and I presume why the "Download Wallet" button does work; nor does the Contact Us link, or the Subscribe button... Also, if you manage to get to eloncoin.org/download, the Release Notes, Source Code and Wallet Guides buttons don't work. The "Why Eloncoin" menu item brings you to a quote by Elon that has nothing to do with why people should buy Eloncoin.

Not to mention the entire project seems to be an unattributed clone of PIVX with a few minor alterations.

I have tagged & flagged promoters of such irresponsibly stupid projects based on stuff like this in the past. To even pretend Elon may someday be interested in it is completely dishonest marketing.

884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to roll-back Ordinals? on: November 17, 2023, 04:31:04 AM
What is Binance getting from listing a BRC-20 pseudo-token? Oh yeah, trading fees.

They are tokens. "Colored coins" are/were considered tokens, and nobody has a problem with the nomenclature as applied to them. This is essentially what ordinals are.

I'm curious if $ORDI beats its ATH from May 08 ($28.52). It's quite close (now slightly below $27, but the last local high is around $27.50). If yes, then I almost feel my whole effort to keep people away from that BRC-20 bullshit was in vain, Sad. (And we can expect a couple of days more with record fees.)

It's a noble cause, but none of the people trading BRC-20 read the forum. TBH most people wouldn't read it -- its largely dominated by unintelligent shitposts. Nobody that isn't already here is going to sift through all the garbage to find the occasional nugget of interesting information. Outsiders looking to get educated only visit the forum when they want to read posts written by satoshi, Hal, Vitalik, and a handful of others.
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to roll-back Ordinals? on: November 16, 2023, 04:21:45 AM
I think the high fee issue is never going away.

It may never go away completely, but it won't always be this bad, and mark my words: degens won't always be this interested in ordinals/inscriptions. They will move on to something else once the easy money to milk has dried up. Because that's what degens do: move from racket to racket.

i don't know what's causing them but you think monkeys?  Shocked

Haha no. It is 99.9% BRC20 inscriptions. The real entity to blame now is Binance since they started listing $ORDI token.

how many us dollars is that? i'm lazy today.

Well, this is what one of my wallets currently recommends for a "high priority" fee:

not cool, unless your philipma1957, I suppose.
886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 16, 2023, 04:14:09 AM
I'm not sure we should have high hopes for someone who can't tell the difference from the mega.nz GUI interface and the desktop version of the Eloncoin wallet.  It makes me wonder if lightlord truly believe this kind of promotion is beneficial for his coin.  Cheesy

This is a good question... TBH, well I probably shouldn't say this, but I've never understood how 90% of signature campaigns are at all profitable for the project running the campaign. This particular campaign is paying for up to 60 posts per week -- that's 10 posts per day 6 days a week, not considering that at least some of the participants have alt accounts enrolled in the campaign. It adds up to several hundred shitposts per week. This renders the advertisement little more than a spam blast.

Back to the coin itself: its a proof of stake coin with 49.74% of all coins held by a single address. IMO you'd have to be crazy to buy this knowing that a single entity can earn half the staking rewards and dump the coin to zero any time they see fit.

Much of their GitHub appears to be copied from PIVX. For example:

wait a minute, it says there are "5 main aspects," yet only 3 of them are listed. what happened to the other two? oh, that's right, they never existed, because they copied the readme.md from PIVX:

I wonder how much other stuff they copied word-for-word I could find if I looked into it, probably a lot.
887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to roll-back Ordinals? on: November 16, 2023, 03:55:25 AM
wow guys this thread really devolved in to alot of bickering and drama.  Shocked kind of like it always does when ordinals is being discussed.

TBH I've put franknbeans on ignore; that way I'm not tempted to respond to him, even though I still end up talking about him  Cheesy it is indeed a minor shame

Dozens - perhaps even hundreds - of threads have been derailed by him over the years. Whenever he posts, discussion usually devolves back to the same tired blocksize debate and completely away from the topic at hand.

To get things back on topic, fees are totally fricken out of control at the moment, JFC.

888  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI Spam Report Reference Thread on: November 16, 2023, 03:44:37 AM
No, it's not possible to generate a Bitcoin address using a face share barcode. Bitcoin addresses are made up of a series of letters and numbers, and they can only be generated using special software. A face share barcode is simply a visual representation of information, and it cannot be used to generate a valid Bitcoin address. It's worth noting that some services may allow you to generate a Bitcoin address using a QR code, which is similar to a barcode but uses a different type of technology. However, a QR code does not use a person's face or other identifying information.

I think what you're asking about is something called "biometric identification" or "biometric authentication". This is a type of technology that uses physical characteristics, such as a person's face or fingerprint, to verify their identity. While this technology is often used for security purposes, it is not used to generate Bitcoin addresses. The reason for this is that Bitcoin addresses are designed to be anonymous, and using biometric identification would go against this design. Additionally, there are potential security risks associated with using biometric identification, as it could be possible for someone to steal or fake a person's physical characteristics.

Most of the recent posts this user has written are AI-generated and its kind of a mystery as to why the posts you mentioned above haven't been deleted -- did you report them? Here's a few more:

Here are a few pieces of advice to help you improve your financial situation with Bitcoin:

1. Educate yourself: Before investing in Bitcoin, it's crucial to understand the technology, its potential risks, and the market dynamics. Read books, attend seminars, and follow reputable sources to gain a comprehensive understanding of how Bitcoin works.

2. Start small: Begin by investing a small amount that you can afford to lose. Bitcoin is a highly volatile asset, and its value can fluctuate significantly. Starting with a small investment will help you learn and adjust your strategies without risking substantial losses.

3. Diversify your investments: While Bitcoin can be a great investment, it's important not to put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio by investing in other cryptocurrencies, traditional investments like stocks or bonds, or other assets such as real estate or precious metals.

4. Stay updated: Keep track of the latest news and trends in the cryptocurrency market. Stay informed about regulatory changes, technological advancements, and market sentiment. This will help you make informed decisions and avoid excessive risks.

5. Set a budget and stick to it: Determine how much you're willing to invest in Bitcoin and create a budget accordingly. Avoid investing more than you can afford to lose, and don't be tempted to exceed your budget in a volatile market.

6. Use secure platforms and wallets: Ensure the safety of your investments by using reputable cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets. Research their security features, user reviews, and history of any hacks or security breaches before entrusting them with your funds.

7. Have a long-term perspective: Bitcoin's value can experience significant fluctuations in the short term. It's crucial to have a long-term perspective and not get swayed by temporary market trends. Consider Bitcoin as a long-term investment that can potentially yield substantial returns over time.

8. Seek professional advice: If you're unsure about your investment decisions or need personalized guidance, consider consulting with a financial advisor who specializes in cryptocurrencies. They can help you create a tailored investment plan based on your financial goals and risk tolerance.

Remember, investing in Bitcoin, like any other investment, comes with risks. Only invest what you can afford to lose and always exercise caution.

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves reflecting on the choices we've made, wondering if things could have turned out differently had we taken a different path. As the value of Bitcoin continues to soar, you may be one of the many individuals contemplating whether you should have taken the risk of investing in it earlier. If so, let me offer you some consolation.

First of all, it's important to acknowledge that thoughts of regret are only natural in situations like this. Seeing others reap the rewards of an investment that you could have made can leave you with a sense of missed opportunity. However, dwelling on what could have been may only diminish your ability to appreciate the present moment and the potential opportunities that lie ahead.

The cryptocurrency market, including Bitcoin, has always been a tumultuous space. Its volatility is well-known, with drastic price fluctuations occurring frequently. While it may seem like Bitcoin has skyrocketed in value overnight, it's important to remember that its rise has been fueled by a combination of factors, including increased awareness, mainstream acceptance, and institutional investors stepping in. Hindsight bias can make it appear that it was a simple decision to
invest early, but the reality is far more complex.

Taking risks can be intimidating, especially when it involves personal finances. It's natural to seek guidance and exercise caution in such matters. Investing in Bitcoin early on required a leap of faith, and in reality, few were able to predict or foresee its meteoric rise. It's easy to romanticize the potentially life-changing returns, but hindsight can often blur the reality of the risks involved.

Moreover, it's important to remember that there are countless investment opportunities out there. While Bitcoin has undoubtedly captured the attention and imagination of many, there are other cryptocurrencies and investment avenues that hold promise too. It's never too late to educate yourself, assess your risk tolerance, and explore new opportunities.

Instead of dwelling on past choices, focus on the lessons learned and how you can apply them to your current and future financial decisions. Regret won't change the past, but it can certainly hinder your ability to make informed choices going forward. Remember that life is full of ups and downs, and investment decisions are no exception.
Lastly, keep in mind that Bitcoin's journey is not over. While its current value may be high, the future remains uncertain. It's crucial to approach investments with a level-headed mindset and not get carried away by market hype. Taking calculated risks, diversifying your portfolio, and seeking professional guidance can help you navigate the unpredictable waters of investing.

In conclusion, it's natural to wonder what could have been if you had taken the risk of investing in Bitcoin earlier. However, regretting the past won't change the present reality. Instead, focus on staying informed, learning from your experiences, and seeking new opportunities. Embrace the lessons learned and remember that the path to financial growth is not a linear one. Keep an open mind, and who knows what the future holds for you in the world of cryptocurrency and beyond.

Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin are often used interchangeably, but they're actually different things. Cryptocurrency is a general term for digital or virtual currencies that use cryptography to secure their transactions, while Bitcoin is a specific type of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is the first and most well-known cryptocurrency, and it has become the standard for measuring the value of other cryptocurrencies. Other than Bitcoin, there are more than 19,000 cryptocurrencies, also known as "altcoins," including Ethereum, Litecoin, and Monero. So while all Bitcoin is cryptocurrency, not all cryptocurrency is Bitcoin.

In simple terms, cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography to secure its transactions, while Bitcoin is a specific cryptocurrency that's decentralized, meaning it's not controlled by any central authority. Cryptocurrency can be created by anyone, while Bitcoin is limited in supply and was created by an anonymous individual or group known as Satoshi Nakamoto. Cryptocurrency transactions are anonymous, while Bitcoin transactions are pseudonymous, meaning they're linked to a public address but not to a specific person. Finally, cryptocurrency can be used for a wide range of purposes, while Bitcoin is primarily used as a store of value and medium of exchange.

But I think that not all moderators support such reports. For them this thread with our reports is not proof and a reason to delete such posts. At best, reports on such posts will remain unprocessed. I think so.

Ultimately it is their discretion whether a post is considered to be "spam" or not, but more often than not they mark my reports "Good"... sometimes it takes them a week or two to get around to them, but they usually do.

I definitely believe not with your negative trust-rating, ser. gmaxwell and achow101, both who are truly respected, honest, and trustworthy Bitcoin Core Developers wrote those NEGATIVE comments and it would be your word against their words. I DEFINITELY trust their words against yours after you and Jonald_Fyookball were misinforming the newbies of BitcoinTalk during 2016 - 2017. Some of us believed you and trusted you, and actually thought that following Roger Ver towards big blocks was the "answer" for the Scaling Debate. But upon DYOR, I learned the HARD WAY. You were lying, spreading misinformation/FUD, and gaslighting.

franknbeans certainly possesses several characteristics that render him and a run-of-the-mill troll indistinguishable, but the negatives left on him by gmaxwell and achow101 are not a correct use of the trust system. The trust system is for trustworthiness regarding trade or any type of exchange of money, not for punishing critics or trolls. Mr. Beans has made it clear he will never trade on the forum, therefore these ratings should be neutrals at worst. Furthermore, he rarely posts in sections of the forum where the trust rating is visible, anyway.

Even the forum's most prolific troll, BADecker, doesn't have a negative. What he does have is a neutral, which is the correct approach.

That's unfair.

I get a little too in character sometimes and forget to make it clear when I am being sarcastic.

894  Other / Meta / Re: What's AI Written Post? on: November 15, 2023, 03:09:26 AM
Well the reason why those posts are never deleted because you can't be 100% sure if the post is created by AI.

That's not exactly true:

And as for this exact case: how many human beings have a "knowledge cutoff in September 2021"?

It is accurate to say that Daniel Ricciardo currently competes for McLaren and not AlphaTauri. For the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Ricciardo is under contract with McLaren as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021. Future changes to a driver's team are speculative and subject to a variety of conditions, including team decisions and contractual commitments. Which team Ricciardo will eventually join is hard to foresee.

Most AI posters aren't dumb enough to include this text in their posts, which is a dead giveaway that its AI-generated, but every once in a while the infamous "knowledge cutoff date" makes an appearance. Besides, a post only has to be deemed as spam to be deleted, not AI.

Also it's very easy to fool AI tools too, just add to your prompt "Create a post that's hard to tell if AI wrote it, also throw in a few spelling and grammar mistakes"

Sure, and that does happen, I'm already seeing it in the Gambling section. Or more commonly the poster will change capitalization and remove spaces to make the text look more non-AI. But the thing is, shitposters use AI because they are lazy, which means they will likely be too lazy to come up with such a prompt.
895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 15, 2023, 02:55:40 AM
I am a Nigerian and I am not from where Elon Musk come from and I don't know how he is operating his company over there because I have not traveled out but I used my sense organs to think very well that you point of argument and that of your supporters might vague because Elon Musk might distance himself from the project probably because he want the project to be a decentralized cryptocurrency blockchain technology won't allow himself to associate with it by behind the scene, he is part of the project. And this is how bitcoin is also is.

What?? Your shill posts have 2 problems: 1) English is not your native language so they're hard to understand, and 2) the points you are trying to make are just bad. He is not part of this project in any way, nor will he ever be. The ways in which Bitcoin is superior to your silly memecoin are far too numerous to bother mentioning.

And now you are saying a FAN and not Elon Musk and that shows that the the blockchain of ElonCoin is automatically a decentralized cryptocurrency blockchain because it becomes unknown ownership and just a fan. Wow!!! I Iike the way he is handling the matter. And from my ordinary human being thinking, as the Op stated clearly, ElonCoin is going to be the second highest coin in the cryptocurrency ecosystem blockchain. From what I have seen, I don't have to go to a prophet to tell me that ElonCoin will be massively use like bitcoin.

You are completely delusional and not educated on anything that remotely concerns cryptocurrency. Nearly 50% of your coin's supply is held by a single wallet. Since its a Proof of Stake coin, this means it is massively centralized. Its quite obvious the team is just waiting for tards to buy this coin so they can dump their massive stash into any kind of pump.

If Elon Musk associate himself with the project then government will be on his neck to stop the project when the project finally make it to the top 2.

That will never, ever happen, not in a million years. You're basically saying this coin will replace Ethereum  Cheesy what a joke

How TF you got more than 10 merits is beyond me.

Even if Elon musk is not aware about his name behind this project, just as you u said, I still see chances of becoming reasonable arterall who knows.

There's no way Elon is ever going to mention this coin, not once, not in a million years. You don't need to be able to predict the future to know this.

When someone asked him how many SHIB he held, he replied "zero." He has never responded to whether he holds Floki Inu or any of the other shit tokens designed to catch his attention. He will never acknowledge this. I'd be willing to bet on it.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eloncoin will be massive. on: November 13, 2023, 05:00:19 AM
The only way this coin holds a chance of "making it" is by tricking other people into thinking Elon is somehow affiliated with it. He's not and he never will be.

Also, 1 wallet holds almost 50% of this coin's supply, and as this is a Proof of Stake coin, they have a massively unfair advantage when it comes to staking.
