881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin CEO on: November 05, 2015, 06:50:28 AM
Bitcoin is a peer to peer network and there is no CEO of Bitcoin. I dont understand why they write "Bitcoin CEO". This prove that those reporter did not do their research and quickly publish their news. Not to worries. As time goes on, more and more people will know about it - Bitcoin have no CEO, those editor did a bad job.

If the president of Delta Airlines raped a little alterboy, the writer could write: "Airline CEO raped boy".   Of course, there is no CEO of all Airlines, but it does technically make sense.  So, same for Bitcoin.  There is (was) a Bitcoin company and the CEO of that company is in jail.  'A Bitcoin CEO is in jail'  The article 'a' is implicit when writing 'Bitcoin CEO...'  Just like 'Airline CEO'.
i was thinking exactly this, but when some of these articles write it as:
Quote
Bitcoins's ceo
it just shows a lack of understanding on the writer's part.

Because the sentance is technically correct, even though it is incredibly misleading. And the news media outlets are not experts on bitcoin, they're just trying to write a story. So they may genuinely believe that  bitcoin has a CEO.
that's just bad journalism, to write what should be informative articles on a topic without the sufficient knowledge to actually make an accurate, resourceful article.

883  Other / Meta / Re: Insane sig spam in gambling section? on: November 04, 2015, 08:12:30 PM
I didnt want to open another thread but i also noticed a lot of spam in the lending section, like if you are not going to give a loan you shouldn't be posting anything at all in the first place. Everytime a newbie asks for a loan, 10 posts appear within seconds telling him he needs to use collateral, im not saying it's bad but with 1 person saying it, it's more than enough and it's obvious the ones that are posting there are doing it for their signature campaign, pretty sad.
it's a lot more wide spread than you think, there's similar stuff going on in the digital goods section too. plenty of "vouch please," "do you have a signed message available," "pm me the account so I can look at post history," etc you get the idea. again, it's not bad that a person asks these things, but is apparent people are spamming these questions when 10 or so people ask the same question within minutes. it's probably just as bad in several other sections too.

edit: currency exchange section: "no reversible payment," "bla bla bla paypal bla bla 180 days reversible," etc. beginners and help section is the same; a question is asked and a near-identical answer is plastered all over the thread at least 40 times.
884  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POLL: Do you vote in your local, regional, and National elections? on: November 04, 2015, 06:54:02 PM
Politics is all about choosing the least evil candidate
this is exactly why I dont vote; if i vote, i want my vote to go to a candidate that I support, not the candidate that i think is not as bad as the other leading candidate. call it apathetic if you like, but i have no interest in perpetuating the pathetic state of politics, especially in america. if a great candidate that I actually agree with and support comes along, ill vote for them to break the cycle, but not until then.

So why don't you vote for the candidate you support? All ballots have the ability to write in a candidate. Don't settle for what the party nominations are, vote for you who you believe should be in office! By not voting you're supporting the  votes for all other candidates.
did you not read? i think all the candidates are shit, or at the very least, lacking. sure, i can say that i think bernie is the least evil of this year's candidates, but i do not support him. trump said something along the lines of "there is an epidemic of autism in the united states" at some point, and after watching that CNN debate, i have to wholeheartedly agree. and its not like about to go off and write in some obscure politician's name on the ballot either, it wouldnt matter without that person having enough support/votes. money and favors buys power in politics, and until that flaw is remedied, there will always be a scarcity of decent politicians.
885  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: November 04, 2015, 06:42:16 PM
Indeed it isn't ideal, but here it's a decision of whether to go for ideology here versus accuracy. While I understand it's a Bitcoin forum, if they aren't paying in Bitcoin...

If you really want to, it might be worth making a separate table for signature campaigns which pay out based on USD if more of them come out.
I rather have one thread to rule them all and accuracy, so if needed, I'll let go of my ideology and just add dollars to the table.
while i do support your sentiment on having strictly bitcoin prices listed on there, fact remains that this table is a helpful resource for others. instead of having a possibly confusing ** listed in the table, it would be much more helpful to have the USD values listed, and maybe have a note below in the description section that the payouts will be converted to bitcoin based on the price at time of payout.
or, this price fluctuation may come to pass within a week and they might have new stable rates, and this discussion might be pointless. who knows.
886  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POLL: Do you vote in your local, regional, and National elections? on: November 04, 2015, 06:30:56 PM
Politics is all about choosing the least evil candidate to run a city, state or country. If you stay at home, then the candidate who is supported by the religious nuts and the welfare rats will win the elections, and later they will drain the money out of your pocket by imposing more and more taxes. I have voted in all the elections (for which I am eligible to vote). Never missed a single election till now.
this is exactly why I dont vote; if i vote, i want my vote to go to a candidate that I support, not the candidate that i think is not as bad as the other leading candidate. call it apathetic if you like, but i have no interest in perpetuating the pathetic state of politics, especially in america. if a great candidate that I actually agree with and support comes along, ill vote for them to break the cycle, but not until then.
887  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: November 04, 2015, 05:18:19 PM
@marcotheminer: I would hope that if the pay per post is going to be lowered you make it effective on everyone's next cycle rather than screwing us for our current cycle. Just sayin'. Smiley
on the other hand, that will (more than likely) result in people spamming as much as possible in their current pay period to take as much advantage of the price rise as possible. some users were already spamming 400-500 posts, we might even see people 1000 this week if people realize theyll keep the previous rates for their current pay period.  Undecided its the most fair way of dealing with the price change though, if adjustments were going to be made.

Thorium - World's Powerful Stuff They Don't Want You to Know (Documentary & Discovery HD Channel)

Does not operate at high pressure and is self regulating and shuts itself down Its so energy dense its more efficient that Coal by factors of 1000 000 and uranium by factors of 100

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BcHx_9DMcc&list=LL2SUmeAzu4qXRc5uQe4eZCw&index=1

Along with uranium, thorium deposits are practically end less source of energy. But unfortunately, this industry won't get approval from coal & oil oligarchs.

at least not until its absolutely, beyond any lunatic's doubt, that coal and oil are running out (likely within years when this decision will come to pass) and wont be able to sustain human society for more than a few more years. wont even matter much then, as when the fossil fuel resources start running dry, most of the big players in coal and oil will be dying of old age (~25 - 30 years into the future).

by the time nuclear power research gets the backing it needs, we'll be on the brink of collapse due to energy needs.
889  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Campaings already cutting rates on: November 04, 2015, 03:25:14 PM
Sad, sad to see. Some even attempted to get away with cutting rates during an ongoing term (Coinut). Pathetic behavior. That's just a direct fraud. When the price goes up, your Bitcoins go up as well, so you can pay people what you said you would paid. No excuses.
magicaldice has also relaunched their sig campaign with USD based rates due to the constant volatility of the price right now, and its fair to assume that this price change is affecting the actual businesses that these sig campaigns advertise for.

Also notice that when the price was lower, they took a ton of days before (sightly) raising the rates. Hell, I saw raises of like 0.0012 to 0.0014 when the price was crashing from 400 to 200, now Coinut and others have gone from 0.0015 to 0.0008.
thats just business, minimize your advertising costs wherever possible. besides, a sig campaign, sure, its an incentive to post more actively, but its not something to really see as a job or constant, reliable source of income. theyre here to give people a little something extra while posting on the forum.

Don't let these fuckers fuck around with your time and money. Fight for your rights, posters.
cringe.
890  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the bitcoin price has been increasing? on: November 04, 2015, 07:31:39 AM

absolutely no clue, there really isnt a reason that i can see that the price is just skyrocketing right now. what i do know is, this price increase is likely going to cause people to start pumping and create a bubble. wouldnt be too surprised if we saw a small crash in the coming weeks.
891  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ MagicalDice Signature campaign - Earn up to 0.15 BTC per week! [Open] ★☆★ on: November 04, 2015, 07:11:04 AM
OK everyone we have an update for you. All posts from this point on will not count towards the campaign. This campaign is being paused for now. I will be rewriting the campaign in a few hours once i finish the payouts for everyone.

With the btc price going crazy like it is this campaign cannot continue as it is. I will be messaging every single one of you in a few hours so pay attention to your inbox

Just read your message what's going on ? Why change before payment ? Why should the price of Bitcoin matter since Magicaldice is earning in order to pay and not buying more Bitcoins.
well the price of bitcoin (in terms of fiat) has nearly doubled in the last few days, and im guessing its affected the owners in 1 way or another since im assuming they regularly convert between fiat -> btc and vice versa. if the recent surge in price doesnt settle or a small crash doesnt occur, lots of other campaigns will also lower their payouts id imagine. coinut has already done so.

So they as a company are not making any Bitcoin ? Surely Bitcoin in Bitcoin out ?
im saying that the recent price increase has likely affected them in one way or another enough that they decided it was necessary to pause the campaign. doenst necessarily mean theyre not making money. learn to read.

Cokirix sent me a spam personal message. It was an add for Bio Garden Seeds.

Just wanted you all to know, isn't spamming accounts with personal messages against forum rules?

Thanks.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm#msg4196142
we cant see the message by the way, theyre called personal messages for a reason. and yes, its unsolicited spam, you can just use the "report to administrator" button that should be around there somewhere. if the spam is widespread enough the admins will probably do something about it.
894  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NUCLEAR IS GREENEST TECHNOLOGY CLAIM 65 TOP BIOLOGISTS on: November 04, 2015, 06:13:44 AM
How fucking dumb are you!? Fukishima reaction is still GOING, poluted and poisining marine life... We dont control it, never have, we just use it like the foolish monkeys we are, also research the leaking radioactivity ALL OVER the globe, it isnt safe, it shall never be safe, wind and sun is all we need, please research...
the problem with wind and solar energy is, farms take up a lot of space, and natural energy alone wont be enough to sustain human society's energy needs. accidents such as fukushima and chernobyl are bound to happen, but that's because the technology isnt perfected yet; give nuclear energy research the funding and support it needs, and we might be oil-free within two decades with natural energy sources as a  supplement.
895  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NUCLEAR IS GREENEST TECHNOLOGY CLAIM 65 TOP BIOLOGISTS on: November 04, 2015, 06:06:03 AM
This is actually what Greenpeace lovers never understands.
Nuclear might be dangerous I understand but it does not spread pollution for sure.
thats mostly because of the stigma that is associated with the word "nuclear;" the first thing that comes to mind after hearing that word is likely "bomb." add in that the general population is not only uneducated, but ignorant, and its clear innovative ideas such as nuclear power wont get the backing they should have anytime soon. quite unfortunate considering our main sources of energy (oil, coal) are due to run out in a few decades. however, as for the second part of your statement, nuclear energy, as great as it can be, is not foolproof yet. accidents can happen, and the problem of managing nuclear waste from power plants is still a question that needs to be solved without extensive contamination from waste products.
896  Economy / Auctions / Re: legendary account on: November 04, 2015, 05:20:11 AM
23who23 is definitely a scammer. He sent me a pm telling me that he contacted SebastianJu for escrow, but SebastianJu would give HIM (not me) his wallet address and then 23who23 will give me that wallet address to sent the bitcoins to. That is pretty stupid 23who23, why wouldn't SebastianJu send me his wallet address directly?HuhHuh?

The moderators of this forum should definitely block 23who23 IP address to block all his accounts. This is the second time he tries to scam me.

Here is the message that 23who23 sent me:

definitely smells like a scam, dont bother with the op, ive passed the info along to someone on DT so they can tag the account with red trust. however, scams are not moderated, and anything even close to a ban will come onto 23who23 or any of his/her alts. good for you spotting that though.
897  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Detroit Public Schools 93% Not Proficient in Reading 96% Not Proficient in Maths on: November 04, 2015, 03:18:38 AM
That is pretty sad considering that American schools keep lowering the standards to pass stupid kids.
thats because if you lower the standard for kids to pass, you allow more kids to pass, resulting in better statistics for those schools, which translates into more funding. its a vicious cycle of negligence honestly, and nothing is done about it despite the fact that the people of america (a good portion of the population at least) are becoming noticeably stupid with every passing day.

I know this is a good excuse to blame african americans. Any family that grows up with jobless, drug addicted parents will have fucked up kids irregardless of their race.
that's a pretty negative stereotype;  id think its not the parents fault that kids are unwilling to get an education, in many cases the parents do all they can to push their children to receive an education, even in 'the hood.'

Inner city public schools for the win! Time to spend even more money and that will solve the problem for sure. Seriously tho, if parents aren't willing to watch over their kids doing their homework and make sure they know the material, there's not much you can expect from the teacher - who can't work miracles. Furthermore, this new common core way of doing things is only gonna make things worse. Time to burn the dept of ed to the ground and leave all the money and curricula to the localities so that they can better fit the needs of the students. One size fits all has been an abysmal failure.
the teachers are also a huge part of the problem; there was a documentary i watched a while back on the education system in harlem, and the biggest contributors were the teachers themselves who honestly didnt give two shits about the students as they were on tenure.
