The best solution to date is to not run from ASICs. Rather, include them all ingeniously. See: MyriadCoin.

where are most of you buying DRK? I bought my first amount today with mintpal, but am probably going to purchase more and am wondering if there is a better exchange out there. I'm looking just looking to buy and hold.
Cryptsy and/or Poloniex

MyriadCoin on BTC38? Is this real life? The trading pair isn't opened but they made a page for Myriadcoin! I need confirmation that this will soon lead to Myriad being exchanged.

Is that screencap just showing the database of cryptos, including those that can be submitted as applications to go on the exchange?
I also see MyriadCoin in that screencap....I will giggle like a schoolgirl if Myriad is also added.

What is the volume like on BTC38? Is it a big deal?

I don't see it on BTC38.com yet??
Anyways, what is the volume like on BTC38? As big as Cryptsy?

I saw this on Twitter and was wondering if anyone could help me understand?
"For everybody holding #Darkcoin - Google 'Sybil Attack'"
I don't have the technical background to understand a Sybil Attack. Could someone explain this to me and if it negatively impacts DarkCoin's future at all? Might end up being nothing but I would like to know.
Basically a Sybil Attack is an attack on peer-to-Peer network in which the attacker uses multiple nodes to establish that they are "trustworthy" and then proceeds to use that node "trust" to influence the network in some way. The type of influence depends on what type of network it is that is being attacked - it might be just disruption, injection of bad data , or capturing other user and/or node information. The name Sybil refers to the girl with multiple personalities. I'm not sure how this would affect the Darkcoin network, except that a 51% attack is somewhat the same principle. Thanks. So this isn't anything specific against Darkcoin, this can theoretically attack any coin? I'm not worried about it then.

shame price sucks so much patience young myr shibe Yep. I didn't get in when it was under 200, but close! I'm actually rooting for it to go down a little more for another buy-in. After that, I'll just ride the mining. I personally think anything under 300 is a golden price.

What if I leave my DRK in a really old wallet version, will I lose my DRK after wallet update? If so, that would be very disconcerning as it means that I will have to keep checking threads like these to make sure I update in time. I have about 10k DRK sitting in a 1 month old wallet. Will my dark remain safe in there forever? Does anyone know?
It'll be fine if you open up the wallet but I wouldn't send any Dark before checking for the latest wallet version. Most updates just add features, rarely are there forks. But with that much BTC invested in any coin I would always practice safety and check for new wallet upgrades. Takes 2 minutes of your time.

Anyway, did you noticed how things are moving in scrypt disfavour? Lot of coins like Dark coin, and Myriad coins are gaining huge popularity as everyone is scarred of 100 MHs KNC ASIC we should promote this coin hard way! But you do know that this coin is asic friendly ? +1 sha3 asics exist. I posted proof a few pages ago but nobody bothered to read my post. I like myr but of it gets any bigger basics can be developed to mine it easily. and I'm talking skein, keccak and groestl not just scrypt and sha256. Long time lurker (myriad coaxed me out of the shadows) and first post in the BTC forums so please be gentle! You are definitely right and it was an interesting paper. They will be months even years away as the profitability is in scrypt right now but no matter what algo is developed an ASIC will eventually exist given the profit motive even with punitive N-factors (although they seem somewhat effective in the medium term). So going forward this coin will need some way of adapting the 5 algos to ensure it keeps a healthy balance between hash rate/hardware cost/transistor density/asic friendlyness. To ignore this issue would be to ignore the innovation this coin brings. I welcome the discussion of how to face this exciting future. As in nature and business we must evolve or die. ivanlabrie you seem well versed in this subject, what would be your suggestion going forward? Nice.

Please add MyriadCoin. It's the only innovative coin along with Darkcoin.

I think there should be some serious consideration about switching the hashing algorithm before the Scrypt ASICs come out.
While the community is still young and we are on minimal exchanges we should do a hard-fork to Scrypt-N, Scrypt Jane, or X11 since we won't have to do a mass effort to reach out to a bunch of exchange operators or an overwhelming community base. Everything is tight-knit right now.

well, i think it might be actually time to start some promotion.
what do we need? i'm a freelance motion designer. i'll do the work (mostly) for free, but voice over costs money.
How about a 2minute video showcasing how Myriad works?

Read this just now and it's a great introduction for users new to Myriad. You cover the flaws with single hashing coins and the consequences of centralization. Myriad definitely mitigates centralization better than anything Ive seen and that is the intrinsic value I see. Once enough other people see it having intrinsic value their investments will help drive the development and marketing of this coin

Request for Reddit Tip Bot: Can we make it so it's easier for someone to figure out how to use when they visit /r/cypherfunks? Maybe some sidebar info? Right now it took me a while to figure out how to even load the bot, and I've used other reddit bots before. We need some clear documentation Totally! Been talking too n00bnoxious about it. neuro, I added you and n00b as wiki editors. http://www.reddit.com/r/thecypherfunks/wiki/tipbot [if someone else wants editing permission, just pm me!] There's the page where we can add information on the tipbot. Just a bit swamped with stuff atm, otherwise I would've helped right now. Here's a good reference point? http://www.reddit.com/r/ALTcointip/wiki/indexI would like to stress to emphasise the importance of tipping is not the tip itself. It must always be seen as a bonus. So first give constructive criticism (if you are going to use it to tip other musicians). That wiki page can then be appended at the end of each verification. ie "What is this?"-type link. Cool, thanks!
