Op, you forgot your redtext. It's The 13 inbred European Bloodlines of the terrorist organization Illuminati. Not sure who you are talking about, but just keep reporting.
Seriously? How can you not know who he's talking about? Actor_Tom_Truong https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=79689No, I read about .5 posts of him/her and ignored everything following that ever since. Apparently my intuition was correct and the BS is strong with this one Edit: also the majority of the posts are in pol. & soc. and I usually dont go there

I was at a meetup yesterday and a girl was there I think day by day involvement of girls are increasing. What do you think? I wish every girl on this forum could feel comfortable enough to post "I'm a girl" on this thread without fear of being judged. None have come forward. What does that tell you? I will be watching you actions, I will call you out if you do something shady. Yes, officer *saltues* Please continue your good deed to the community. It's nice how you keep all the newbies on close watch.

While its hard to argue FUD I doubt anyone was jailed for saying bitcoin in france. Its been a while since Ive been to paris but while I dont like police with machineguns they seemed very friendly no matter what crazy stuff I said.
The changing value part is basically a mixture between a foreign currency and a stock. Bitcoin as a foreign currency changes usefullness all the time for different people thus it goes up and down within a certain range (400-600USD atm). This is basically because Bitcoin is the local currency of the internet, but noone is actually living here. So we all have to go back and pay rent, gas etc. and yes some lucky few can pay thsoe bills with bitcoins and even get paid in bitcoin. Bitcoin as a stock is a good running firm, its long term trend is up and it looks like it keeps going.
Just because its virtual does not mean it can just disappear. An online bank account is virtual, yet noone is afraid it will be gone just like that. To kill the entire blockchain is even harder. Every copy would have to be deleted, every backup etc. The private keys to spend the bitcoin are a different matter, but with a little preparation this should be no problem as well. E.g. electrums mnemonics are very nice as a backup system. Write it down, put it away safely and be fine.
What I often read and experience is that its best to not explain to much, but rather wait for questions. E.g. I had family over today and one was asking about my magic internet money so I explained a little and promissed to send some links via Mail. If more questions arise I can answer in more detail via mail or phone or in person.

Well, I don't think a wallet should just take your funds without asking you. I don't want to call it theft, but it seems pretty much on the borderline of legal.
Its not for the wallet or Andreas Schildbach, you pay the miners to include your TX. If they do not include your TX your bitcoin will be almost impossible to spend until they do. With your wording that would be "holding hostage". Maybe for a week. Would you have understood this consequence as a newbie? I dont think so. Several people that use bitcoin do not understand the importance of fees and try to cheap their way out of them. There is at least 1 post per week in tech support or similar subboards. Also some post in this sticky [1]. The app does what is best for you or at least for most users. Also, 7% is way too much. Make it at most 0.01% of the funds transmitted, and I won't complain. Also, ASK or at the very least TELL me about it first!
There is an ongoing discussion how big a fee is enough. A percentage fee makes no sense, but as it was pointed out this should not be discussed here. [1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=232979.0

uh where does it say so? I didn't agree to something like that. Especially if it makes up 7% of the whole transaction value!
Usually the wallet does not ask you for it, but just does it. The alternative is that people start complaining that their TX does not get confirmed. It might take up to a week for a TX without fee to get a confirmation. See also here: https://github.com/schildbach/bitcoin-wallet/issues/18

Is there a chart somewhere showing the time it takes to get the 1st confirmation as a function of transaction fee % or transaction amount?
1st confirmation is the next block your TX is in. It has nothing to do with the fee % and very little with amount transfered*. As long as the fee in comparisson to the size (in KB) is reasonable (according to miners) - which currently is 0.0001 per KByte - your TX will be in the next block (which on average are mined every 10 minutes). What is the average BTC transaction time and what other factors influence it significantly?
Transaction time (as in the other party knows about it) is almost instantly. Confirmation time depends on the time it takes to find a block. This time is regulated via the difficulty to match 10 minutes on average. * there is something called mature inputs which might allow you to send a TX without a fee. The idea is that big inputs (much btc spend) that did not get moved a long time need no TX fee.

I like how there is allready proof in the 1st reply that this can easily be hacked but none of you bothered to read it because you cant understand the language. Here take a video [1] the hack was figured out within 48 hours of the release of the phone Less than 48 hours after the iPhone 5s went on sale, a group of German hackers claimed to have lifted a fingerprint and created a fake finger that could spoof Apple's "advanced" biometric technology. But anyone who's been paying attention to biometrics wasn't surprised.
source [2] and uses no special equipment. The phone can "detect whether" its a "real finger" all it wants, because there is an acutal "real finger" behind the plasticprint. The name of the wallet file is wallet.dat search bitcoin data dir for the path on MacOS. In the same dir (or a subdir) should be a log file, what does it say about the crash? Does it crash with a msg? If so which? You cant should not send if your wallet is not fully synced.

Why should mods do that? They have no way to verify your story in the first place and IMHO your trade is your "problem" be it good or bad. so that I can somehow make up for my losses
Can you rephrase that without using the word "somehow"? selling the accounts

Fingerprints are bad for 3 simple reasons #1 cant change them (well, 10 times) #2 you leave them literally everywhere #3 easy to fake, CCC iPhoneX fingerprint hack took hours after release. edit: link for 3 www.ccc.de/de/updates/2013/ccc-breaks-apple-touchid note: its in german, duh.

Also, 250 BTC was probably lost when treasurer paraipan died, unfortunately. Recovering that BTC is maybe still possible, but it's probably unlikely. The forum currently has about 5568 BTC in reserve.
Have you considered offering a bounty of 5-10% of the total amount for anyone that helps in recovering the 250 BTC? I had the impression that paraipan was a semi-public figure in the Bitcoin world -- or at least in Spain, so maybe there are some Spaniards that got to know him well enough to know how to reach out to his family. Maybe give them some time before you release the bloodhounds?

Had a longer reply, got a call all is gone Anyway. You only sync with 1 node (getpeerinfo from console, look for sync:true) make sure its a fast node with -listen=0 (dont search for others) -maxconnections=1 (so you sync with it) -connect=IP pick an IP from the fallback node list (google it) or take mine (see link in profile, 100mbit/s) and launch with the above commands (google running bitcoin for help w/ that)
