The currency of many countries will start to default, US included.
Banks offer a "Global currency" deal that no one can refuse.
The global currency is introduced and soon after a global government. everyone's paper money / politicians are the same.
The Bank has successfully taken over the world.
The government start issuing new laws and basic human rights start to get squashed.
The people in some parts of the world want to separate from this new Global Government.
These people are quickly "taken care of"
Everyone on the planet now fears authority, and start to conform to the way they want us to live.

Bitcoin will survive until the Singularity... unless the AI decides to continue using it as its currency (and why not?!)  Ohhhhh or maybe the AI itself actually created Bitcoin as the first phase in the Singularity.  it is far and away the most powerful computing effort yet I, for one, welcome our new cybernetic overlords |

Something I think needs to be said.
There exists motive to cast doubt on BFL's intention/ability to deliver. Current miners with significant investment in GPU, or even FPGA, infrastructure show increased return on investment for every SC order that is NOT placed.
FUD pays in this case.

A question I thought was serious from the other thread;
What of those who deposited BTC, either manually or automated, after the hack? There was, as far as I have heard, no email notification, and the website message was ambiguous.
Starting a thread on this forum is not exactly a high standard of damage control for your users.
