8861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinfido CEO that disappeared with investor money lied about his employment on: November 26, 2017, 12:53:29 AM
@deathwish. It is good to see that you understand the message and the argument. I reckon most of the people in the cryptospace have stopped caring who the development team behind ICOs are, for as long as they can make more money.

@timikulit. Scammers would use that very reason to appear more legitimate. Paying fees would be not a problem to them.
8862  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: November 25, 2017, 12:34:18 AM
@everyone. I tried to find season 8 leaks on Youtube and I was shocked that there were a lot. They all said that they were unconfirmed leaks but all of them had the same storyline and ending. Why is that?

In the end of those videos, they had Tyrion Lannister becoming the king regent of the 7 kingdoms after the death of Jon and Daenerys.

Could these leaks be real? I am afraid if they are, the sportsbooks might lock our accounts for cheating hehehe.

I had read conflicting scripts in some it is said denerys dies, in some she's send to the island, as of now to early to believe that this would be true, this could be a plot to sell you to see the video's advertisements, as far I know got stars don't know the script yet, and it's been guarded well this time, we shall see some clear picture by next mid year, till then all speculations, I don't believe in any one of them.

Another trick HBO should do is to leak the scripts themselves and then change the story based on a secret back up script.

In any case, HBO as already identified and charged the hacker, he is an Iranian military man who specializes in hacking nuclear software systems and Israeli infrastructure.

8863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I find Monero the most appealing crypto? on: November 24, 2017, 05:22:01 AM
Here are some lines telling my take on Monero.

Monero has bitcoin-rich people with connections
Monero has trolls spreading FUD - it tells me how the trolls feel the threat
Monero has excellent name
Monero's emission curve is currently very appealing for investors
The devs do not control the currency but investors like you and me

Why do you like Monero, please share your thoughts why Monero is the number one crypto (potential even replace bitcoin)?

Adding more to your list and I hope you include it in your post hehehe.

Monero has one of the best development teams in the cryptospace.
Monero does not have a premine, ICO or a developer's tax.
Monero is maintained by the community by means of their donations.

8864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinfido CEO that disappeared with investor money lied about his employment on: November 24, 2017, 04:29:13 AM
called those icos project that already or owned by the unknown developer will include the suspicious project. But what will become the best way for now to learn more about that? The scammer just tries to hide by using the fake information regarding itself.

Throw those icos with the anonymous developer.

Then we have more causes to think that those ICO developers who have declared their identity and making themselves appear professional have more to hide.

In any case, anonymous developers who have refused to make their identity public have no choice but to prove that they are ethical by working hard on their projects. I am talking about the anonymous developers in projects without ICOs and premines.
8865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coinfido CEO that disappeared with investor money lied about his employment on: November 24, 2017, 03:28:17 AM
Will we be back to the presumption that cryptospace developers who are hiding in anonymity are more ethical? I reckon all the developers who try to look very polished and professional are the people who have something to hide.

Scammers want to defraud you while anonymous developers have nothing to prove.

On Confido's website, which has also been deleted, a man called Joost van Doorn is named as the CEO. His biography said that he previously worked at eBay, PepsiCo and Zalando.

But two of the companies have no record of him.

After being contacted by CNBC, a PepsiCo spokesperson said that its human resources department could not find him. And German online retailer Zalando said that his name could not be found on any employees or freelancer list.

Confido managed to raise just under $375,000 via an ICO on a platform called TokenLot. On Monday, TokenLot, the firm that hosted the ICO, put out a statement saying the Confido team had "pulled an exit scam." The company also said it had lost all lines of communication with Confido.

8866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe Betting Odds on: November 24, 2017, 01:51:46 AM
Pretty interesting, betting on pretty little things. I never knew this was a thing. Quite curious though how they have rated each contestant, since there is really no stats on each girl since likely that would be their first time joining Miss Universe. Maybe they base it on previous wins of the country the girl represent? That's the only viable reason I see. I'll definitely look into betting on this.

I reckon they rate each girl with their vital statistics, how pretty they are, the overall impression you have from them and how smart they are.

But I also think choosing the winner has something to do with the present political and social situation.
8867  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-24] Bitcoin Gold Wallet Scam Nets $3 Million in Illicit Earnings on: November 24, 2017, 12:55:46 AM
I am starting to think that this might be a convoluted scam by the bona fide members of the bitcoin gold development team themselves.

In any case, can someone post a guide on how we get our share of BTG, and is this site safe to use?

https://btgwallet.online/

In an interview, victims blamed the association of the website with the official bitcoin gold project as a source of the effectiveness of the operation.

One of the victims, Mikel Martin, explained to CoinDesk:

"I reached this site by following the link at [the] bitcoingold.org official website so I trusted it. Yesterday afternoon I noticed both my BTC and BTG stored in that wallet were gone."

Before the thefts became apparent, the team behind bitcoin gold – an effort to create a new version of bitcoin that would restrict the types of hardware that can be used for mining – promoted mybtgwallet.com on their Twitter account, assuring users that it was safe to use on multiple occasions.

The person behind the service was, to an extent, ingratiated in the nascent BTG community, including its Slack channel. The website was developed by a user named John Dass, though it is unclear whether this is the developer's actual name or a pseudonym.

8869  Economy / Speculation / One of Wall Street's biggest bears just doubled his bitcoin forecast to $11,500 on: November 23, 2017, 02:20:03 AM
I reckon this is the news everyone in this forum wants to hear? Hehehe.

But I still disagree with his affirmation, and whoever else, that a futures market for bitcoin will increase the cryptocurrency's legitimacy, thereby expanding its potential user base. I reckon it will only encourage gambling on bitcoin and other cryptocoin derivatives by Wall Street.

Tom Lee, the managing partner and head of research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, has almost doubled his forecast for bitcoin. He now expects the scorching-hot cryptocurrency to hit $11,500 by mid-2018, up from his previous estimate of $6,000 released in August.

The adjustment comes just a few weeks after Lee turned neutral on bitcoin, when it was hovering around the $7,400 level. At the time, he felt that there were simply too many "weak hands" holding the cryptocurrency with low conviction, leaving it susceptible to a sharp drop at the first sign of turbulence. In his mind, the appropriate level to start loading up on more bitcoin was around $5,500.

And sure enough, bitcoin fell last week to $5,600, which Lee says wiped out those fickle holdings and allowed him to resume his bullish view.

Looking beyond bitcoin, Lee is one of the most bearish analysts on Wall Street when it comes to the stock market. He sees the benchmark S&P 500 ending 2017 at 2,475, which puts him in the bottom quartile of strategists surveyed by Bloomberg. The average price target is 2,524.

8870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe Betting Odds on: November 23, 2017, 12:45:14 AM
@SaShiRaJaVu. Donald Trump was never the favorite before and during the US presidential campaign, I reckon. Everyone already thought Hillary was set to win.

But in any case, I agree. It is hard to predict these things. That is why my bet is for Miss USA +1600!

@NitrogenSports. Will you add more betting markets like which candidates will make the top 5?

8871  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe Betting Odds on: November 22, 2017, 03:18:54 AM
I love betting on these! Thank you for making it available.

At first look on the odds, I like France, Spain and the USA. I reckon Trump will want to pull some strings to make America great again hehehe.

I hope you also open Game of Thrones betting on 2019 for season 8. We have a lot of GoT fans in the forum. Sadly, only Bitsport has made it open for betting.

8872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AltCoins that have huge potential (in 2018 ) on: November 22, 2017, 02:23:01 AM
@bestbiz9. I see that you have Monero in your list. I would then like to recommend that you start doing your research on Aeon. Smooth as you know is part of the XMR development team and has done a lot to make the coin's anonymity one of the best in the cryptospace. If you do not know, he is also the lead developer of Aeon.

In any case, Aeon will have a code rebase on 2018 with minor differences from Monero, like mobile friendliness, faster confirmation times and a lighter version of XMR's blockchain.
8873  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-22] A Hacker Warning for Bitcoin on: November 22, 2017, 12:57:02 AM
Articles like these that are written by oblivious columnists should be taken down from Bloomberg. He is essentially saying that hacks that happened on a centralized system like Tether can also happen in bitcoin.

What is he trying to do? Scare everyone or is he that ignorant about proof of work and the blockchain?

Here is the author's Twitter account if some of you want to send him a message.

https://twitter.com/LionelRALaurent

Saying Bitcoin is un-hackable is of small comfort to those who've lost money through cracks in its ecosystem of exchanges, intermediaries and money-raising schemes. The latest theft in cryptoland is a reminder that the promise of security and liquidity is only that -- a promise. This isn't a systemic shock in the same league as the Mt. Gox bitcoin exchange collapse, but it's a warning that transparency and trust are rare commodities in this world.

But the Tether raid shouldn't be dismissed. It's one example of how quickly a cryptocurrency's glitzy promise of instant liquidity and top-flight security can be shattered. Tether is a Top-20 digital currency, which built its name on combining both cryptographic security and real-world monetary value.Every Tether is supposed to be backed "1-to-1" by a corresponding hard currency, meaning that crypto exchanges and traders can trade it as a U.S. dollar proxy, safe in the knowledge that it will always be redeemable if the need arises. The "best of both worlds," as Tether put it.

8874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: November 22, 2017, 12:00:28 AM
Thank you for the new thread. Hopefully AP will get the account back, but unfortunately in similar cases this often doesn't happen.

He still can if he can prove ownership of a bitcoin address that he has posted here in the past. I really hope he recovers it. That account is already a part of Monero's history.

But in any case, here is another chart update for Aeon.

It is in a good spot again, with or without of any talk of a code rebase.

8875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: November 21, 2017, 03:49:41 AM
It would be a major step to make a truly user friendly wallet. Monero, even with all it's other problems, has a nightmare wallet.

Aeon has always been the respectable cn coin and it's wallet is okay but should be easier on new people.

I would have to disagree about Monero having a nightmare wallet. Did you try their GUI? They have developed one of the cleanest and nice looking graphic interfaces in all of the cryptospace.

I also disagree about rushing to make Aeon easier to use. Like what smooth did with Monero, he should ignore the rest and concentrate on the core of the project.
8876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: November 21, 2017, 02:58:27 AM
FYI the americanpegasus account that started this thread (and has control over self-moderation) has been hacked and is no longer under control of the actual AP.

We may need to abandon this thread and start a new one.

8877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: November 21, 2017, 02:42:58 AM
@americanpegasus' account has been hacked, so that means the self moderated thread he started is under the control of the hacker. Let this thread be the new Aeon Speculation thread until he gets his account back.

I will copy the original post of americanpegasus' thread and his rules will continue in this thread.

Self-moderated thread for discussion of Aeon trading and price speculation.

  • Off topic posts will be removed. Off topic includes any extensive discussion of other coins, promoting other coins, or posting of promotional materials from other coins.
  • Non-substantive comments such as Aeon sucks, Aeon is a scam, Aeon is great, Aeon to the moon, etc. are considered off topic. Every post and reply should add to the discussion.
  • Hostile trolling (which includes but is not limited to use of "meme" pictures to attack or demean) especially by sock puppet accounts is not allowed.
  • When quoting posts, please remove any large charts or other images unless the quoted post is at least one page old. Please shrink (or remove) large images in replies in all cases.
  • When I am speaking as the moderator, and only then, I will write in red. Other messages using red text are not permitted.

People speculating on Aeon may be out of their mind, seeing as how they are worth half a cent each (as of posting), and it was essentially a blockchain-on-lifesupport until recently when smooth breathed new life into it as a testbed for innovative cryptonote ideas.  I have no connection with smooth, but don't think he should control both speculation topics (as well as being a core dev of both coins) so this will put some neutrality into the ecosystem.

edit, 10 November 2015:
All cryptocurrency should be considered extremely risky, and Aeon is a new and development stage blockchain based on Cryptonote.  As such, it should be considered insanely risky.  In the past month I have bought a significant amount of Aeon, but I consider that money "gone".  If you decide to buy any Aeon, you should too.  No statements in this topic or elsewhere myself or others should be construed as any sort of investment advice because Aeon should never be considered an 'investment'.  It is an experimental cryptocurrency project, regardless of how euphoric this topic may become at times.  Make your own decisions and never believe anything you read without proving it to yourself first.
8878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: An Ethereum Startup Just Vanished After People Invested $374K on: November 21, 2017, 02:03:23 AM
Joost van doorn is not a real name Cheesy They collected $374K just like that and now you think that they will refund the investors? A linkdin account and a signature campaign is not enough, Millions of easily earned money by so many shady ways, They are lost just as easy.

I reckon the names of the developers in the team page of their site might either be fake or are stolen identities. It is very easy to find people on social media these days, know their professional background and download their pictures.

Then there are the few developers that can really be trusted who are not given any support anymore. Why?
8879  Economy / Speculation / FUD From All Sides: In Defense of CME's Bitcoin Futures Plan on: November 21, 2017, 01:11:02 AM
This essay is a counter argument of the previous bearish ones that I have posted last week. Read it and see if you share his opinion or not.

I also saw that some of the readers in the forum were angry at me for posting them. Please understand that all of us have our own opinions. I am on the bearish side when it comes to the CME group's listing of a bitcoin futures derivative, but not because I hate the idea, it is because I do not trust them.

I'm a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. I've also been a bitcoiner since 2013. So, when CME Group announced its intention to launch bitcoin futures in the coming weeks, I thought, "Great! Way to go, CME."

The first exchange to offer a futures contract on bitcoin is good news for my CME friends: more trading volume and and speculative opportunities. And it's also good for my bitcoin friends: the legitimacy and access is sure to help with adoption and higher bitcoin prices. Win-win! Right?

Well, that wasn't quite the response I got.

Instead I heard just about every negative stereotype about both futures trading and bitcoin, from both communities. Let's try to put these misperceptions to rest.

8880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / An Ethereum Startup Just Vanished After People Invested $374K on: November 21, 2017, 12:15:06 AM
I am sure some of you found out about Confido and made an investment, I saw their signatures worn around the forum.

In any case, how is the mood in the Confido community and what are the investors' plans to force the people responsible to give them a refund?

A startup on the Ethereum platform vanished from the internet on Sunday after raising $374,000 USD from investors in an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) fundraiser.

on Sunday, the company unceremoniously deleted its Twitter account and took down its website. A company representative posted a brief comment to the company’s now-private subforum on Reddit, citing legal problems that prevent the Confido team from continuing their work. The same message was also posted to Medium but quickly deleted.

“Right now, we are in a tight spot, as we are having legal trouble caused by a contract we signed,” the message stated (a cached version of the Medium post is viewable). “It is likely that we will be able to find a solution to rectify the situation. However, we cannot assure you with 100% certainty that we will get through this.” The message was apparently written by Confido’s founder, one Joost van Doorn, who seems to have no internet presence besides a now-removed LinkedIn profile.
