8901  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 217: Bisping vs GSP Info and Betting Thread on: November 15, 2017, 07:35:46 AM
@thejaytiesto. I reckon Michael Bisping will be announcing his retirement after Fight Night 122 whether he wins or loses. There is no other explanation why he is taking a fight this early especially after failing to defend his championship.

I also hope he wins. He is one of my favorite talkers in the sport.
8902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] TRUCKCOIN: For the fastest decentralized global market on: November 15, 2017, 04:03:53 AM
Mining guide will be available after ICO. We are also waiting for mining too.

Thank you. I would also like to point out that Cryptonight Light coins are better mined by CPU. That is good news for decentralization and for the community who cannot afford expensive mining rigs.

Another question is, will Truckcoin use LMDB from the start? We at Aeon have been waiting for it to be impelmented, but if not, you have to inform all possible miners that they will need at least 8gb of ram as the blockchain's size grows larger.
8903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ‘Your money is safe,’ Tezos broker tells investors on: November 15, 2017, 02:45:16 AM
How can you trust them to say that your money is safe when you cannot get a refund? Once a regulatory institution intervenes there might be a possibility that all activities connected to Tezos' development could be suspended. I also reckon that there is another possiblity that exchanges might avoid listing XTZ because of the pending lawsuit filed by one of its contributors.

This does not look well for the the highest funded ICO in the cryptospace.

The Zug-based Tezos Foundation sits on top of a stockpile of cryptocurrencies now worth some $500 million (CHF496 million). It is supposed to spend this hoard developing the blockchain-based smart contract system, but its president, Johann Gevers, has been accused of misrepresenting the size of a bonus he wanted to give himself – a charge he denies.

The public spat between the Breitmans and Gevers has sparked intense debate on social media channels. Bitcoin Suisse has broken its silence to reveal that it has the responsibility of counter-signing every transaction that the foundation makes. In other words, the foundation cannot spend a cent unless Bitcoin Suisse agrees.

“The Tezos Foundation put this arrangement into place to protect contributors and the funds contributed towards the project,” Nikolajsen told swissinfo.ch. “If any individual, for example, would try to send crypto assets to the Bahamas, then we as a third party could bring this to the attention of the foundation board and prevent the transaction."

But any investor now clamouring for a refund in the light of the foundation governance dispute will be disappointed.
“The terms for contribution in the Tezos Crowd Contribution to which each contributor agreed in order to participate […] specified that refunds post-contribution and after the close of crowd contribution would not be possible, due to both regulatory reasons as well as practical reasons,” stated Bitcoin Suisse.

8904  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-14]Bitcoin moving in on Monero Confidential Transactions (CT) on: November 15, 2017, 01:32:00 AM
If it is going to be implemented via a soft fork or protocol upgrade, I doubt if anybody will publicly voice support for it. Already bitcoin's pseudonymity causes issues for regulators. Anything enhancing anonymity won't find support from those favouring regulations.

It is not just about that. It is also all the technical difficulties that will come with CT if it does become implemented. In Monero, some people in their community have been annoyed with the fact that CT has made the block size bigger and heavier than they should be.

There is also the problem of technical debt. It would be better to implement it through a hardfork to make the code cleaner. But in my own opinion, it would be best if the community would start using Monero if they really wanted confidential transactions.
8905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 100 Coins CMC Minus Vaporware Shitcoins on: November 14, 2017, 08:09:06 AM
Some of those cryptocoins included in your list should arguably not be there. You said you removed the useless ones, but some people in the community would say that Dash and Ethereum Classic should be there and Dogecoin should not.

I reckon that you should make your basis for useful clear.
8906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any advice for a newbie? on: November 14, 2017, 06:36:48 AM
Hi guys,

Newbie here trying to set up a crypto profile. 1 month ago I had heard the name Bitcoin but didn't know what it was other than a digital currency and had not heard of any alt coins so bear with me  Undecided

I don't have a huge amount to invest, thus far i have 0.13 BTC and 2 ETH, 2.6k XRP AND 50 OMG. I want to keep adding to this and keep it for as long as needed, i  am not really interested in trading as i don't understand this space enough to do that.

Any ideas or thoughts? Should i move any of these around? Concentrate on adding to bitcoin? Add to XRP/OMG etc etc???

Also i have a ledger nano s en route to keep my coins.

cheers

Here is my advice, keep the bitcoin and get rid of the rest. By the time you are done with your research you would find out that the ETH, XRP and the OMG are not really good cryptocoins to begin with. There are competent developers in Ethereum and Ripple but they are not telling is that their platforms might have characteristics not suitable for decentralized cryptocoins.
8907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC FN 120: Poirier vs Pettis Info and Prediction Thread on: November 14, 2017, 02:21:13 AM
@Baofeng. I do not know what fight you saw because I reckon Anthony Pettis looked and fought ok to me. But I agree that he is not championship material anymore.

Also calling him a paycheck fighter is unfair. He has the type of mindset that he can still go challenge for the championship again one day. He might prefer to retire than becoming a paycheck fighter.
8908  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-13] Darknet Markets Are Back – But With the Blockchain Bloated on: November 14, 2017, 12:47:05 AM
@BitHodler. But Monero is becoming a more popular alternative. There are darknet vendors who are starting to accept Monero only because of their concern on their privacy, but also because it is cheaper and faster.

I agree that the transition is slow, but I reckon we will see it accelerate on 2018 when more users learn that there are features in some altcoins more suitable for their needs.
8909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH or BTC? on: November 13, 2017, 08:30:59 AM
@Everyone. Whatever happens and whatever they say, bitcoin will still remain no.1 in the cryptospace as long as there are good developers behind it. Bitcoin cash, on the other hand, will always be a 2nd rate altcoin because they have the worse development team. How can you trust them to maintain a +billion dollar blockchain?

Invest in the developers, not the coin.
8910  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-13] Darknet Markets Are Back – But With the Blockchain Bloated on: November 13, 2017, 06:42:57 AM
I reckon the sudden increase of unconfirmed transactions will affect not only transactions in the darknet but obviously also the transactions in the clearnet. It would be good to know how clearnet transactions, going into services like gambling sites, are badly affected by long confirmation times and also if bitcoin only gambling sites are now willing to accept altcoins.

There are good alternatives out there but Ethereum is not one of them like what the article mentioned.

Users on r/darknetmarkets complained of transactions sent to Dream, the largest DNM, that were unconfirmed after five hours. The Dream forum is filled with similar tales of woe, including dozens of complaints filed in the last 24 hours. Customers of the darknet, who are often in a hurry to get their goods, think nothing of paying high confirmation fees – even when those fees are approaching $10, as has been the case with bitcoin recently. Even with higher fees selected, however, transactions have still been slow.

Privacy Coins Prosper

It wasn’t transaction issues that spurred many DNMs into accepting alternative digital currencies, but rather privacy. Law enforcement are becoming increasingly adept at assigning bitcoin addresses to real world identities, as a number of deep web vendors have discovered in the past year. Nevertheless, when the bitcoin network is under strain, altcoins provide additional benefits, facilitating quick and low-cost transactions.

Dream has yet to accept alternatives to bitcoin, but Point Marketplace (formerly Tochka) and Aero do, the former taking ethereum and the latter accepting monero. Then there is Libertas, which is a monero-only marketplace. Monero has risen in value over the past week, though how much of that can be attributed to darknet adoption is debatable.

8911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: November 13, 2017, 02:18:56 AM
@cryptojac17. Mercedes might also be ahead of them in chassis development. Look how dominant they are in the last 4 years. I reckon even if they are behind in aerodynamics and other engineering aspects, their engine advantage will still put them on top.

McClaren is a good example of a car with a good chassis but the engine's power is so low it cannot finish in the top 10 consistently.
8912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cash will confuse the people who are new to the cryptospace on: November 13, 2017, 12:40:43 AM
If bitcoin cash takes over as the top cryptocoin in market capitalization, I reckon it would be bad not only for bitcoin but the whole community as well.

We know bitcoin cash is the altcoin, and it does not have the best developers working on it. I also reckon some miners will start mining BCC because it would be more profitable for them. What then should the basis be for calling either BTC or BCC as the real bitcoin?

Is it the developers, the price, or the hashrate?

Well as long as they exist, this debate will continue.

Both sides will claim that they are the real bitcoin with the best intentions and whatever. For me personally, the deciding factor would really be in terms of market capitalization. If BCH can exceed BTC in market capitalization(unlikely), then it could claim as THE bitcoin.

It definitely will cause a lot of confusion for newcomers. Had a couple of friends ask me lately about what the hell was bitcoin cash.

But what about the community? What if we still want the original bitcoin because we know it has the best development team working on it? If the price is your only basis in deciding which bitcoin will be called BTC then you are easily manipulated by the people on the top.

I agree with @8270thNinja.

8914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-10-07: update to 0.9.14.0] on: November 12, 2017, 03:47:02 AM
Hi guys, i have been doing my research on AEON, has their been any movement on the roadmap? With all the changes/additions to the crypto market, it seems a lot of the items that AEON was looking to implement have been met by other coins.

What direction is this moving in? Curious as i was thinking about allocating some mining resource to this.

Apologies if this sounds stupid.

It does not sound stupid at all. The roadmap was expected to be announced by smooth last month but he has been silent since releasing 0.9.14.0.

The rebase was also expected to be released this year but more tests should be done before smooth can make sure that everything is ready. It might be finished by March 2018, I reckon.
8915  Economy / Speculation / Re: 'Maybe bitcoin is a kind of a bubble,' Goldman Sachs CEO Blankfein on: November 12, 2017, 02:13:34 AM
It's because bitcoin has been outperforming stocks and other investments and their clients are giving them a hard time because Goldman never recommended the trade of the year.

Things might change if they end up actually setting up their trading platform, which will allow their wealthy clients and institutions to enter this market. That might be the reason he isn't completely writing Bitcoin off like other CEO's of notorious wall street banks have been doing. Important factor is the constantly increasing demand from their clients that are likely bombing Goldman Sachs with Bitcoin requests, now they realize that this market offers far more profit than the traditional markets. I at some point expect every bank to at least allow their clients to buy themselves into Bitcoin directly, or through various financial instruments tied to Bitcoin's market - this is where the money is.

Do you really reckon that the wealthy Goldman Sachs clients want bitcoin investments? I reckon not. All they want is a stable investment, not a highly volatile something that they do not understand. They became wealthy because they made smart decisions, not because they went to invest in the next big fad, which is what cryptocoins is for them.

They are partly correct because the cryptospace is full of untested and unused technology and scams.

@cryptojac17. No, the Mercedes always had and will still have the engine advantage. Their dominance started when the sport decided to use the much criticized V6 turbo, and I reckon it will not change until 2021 once the new engine rules are out.
Yeah agree on you that when they started using v6 turbo with the team up with petronas they were able to made it on the top  they were able to find the exact engineering design. But the compition still on for sure Ferrari engineering team will come out with exact design to  compete Mercedez superb engine.

Again I disagree with you. The engine change to the V6 turbocharger engines was implemented 4 years ago, I reckon. But until today, Ferrari and Renault have not created an engine that is as powerful as the Mercedes engine.

Mercedes is ahead of them in engine development and research. Ferrari can copy their design, but Mercedes will create a better engine for 2018.

8919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XSPEC vs XMR vs ZEC vs XZC on: November 11, 2017, 12:44:45 AM
What can you do? Xspec is a low volume coin and most probably a pump and dump. You should know that among the cryptocoins you mentioned, only Monero has the developers who have proven themselves as one of the best in the cryptospace.

Theymos has made a thread about different altcoins and their ratings basing them on his experience, and he was rated Monero very highly.

Spectrecoin uses a wallet which is fully integrated with the Tor+OBFS4 layer for network privacy which means that XSPEC can be transacted anonymously within TOR blocked countries such as Iran and China. Additionally, it also has an encrypted P2P messaging feature which enable it to act as a private payment network.

Furthermore, XSPEC is the best performing ICO of 2016 and so has already proven that it is not merely a pump and dump but will be a serious competitor to Monero in 2018.

Sorry but I shall reiterate that only the Monero development team has the knowledge and the experience to create an anonymous and private cryptocoin that really works. Most the the rest have security vulnerabilities and are traceable.

But Xspec has a good chance to outperform Monero because it is easier to manipulate.
