investment is the new kind of gamble

Gambling is betting on random outcomes (except sports betting), investing is betting on economic success of chosen company, which is less random, because you can take some factors into consideration. Same with trading, you can try to predict price change basing on some information. Professional traders and investors have more chances to win than to lose, unlike gamblers, who are always under pressure of house edge.
8942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ONLINE GAMBLING WILL BE BANNED IN THE PHILIPPINES on: August 18, 2016, 09:40:46 PM
Anyway it was source of making money for site owners not common players. I think this is your opportunity to stop gambling or get rid of this gambling habit and should be thankful to your government. Real players have land casinos where they make money. Online gambling is for small level gamblers like us. You should be happy or keep loosing money using some vpn services in gambling. You still can have access through many ways.

Brick and mortar casinos have significantly higher house edges, meaning players lose there even more than in Bitcoin casinos. But there are lots of other online gambling sites that are not provably fair, so their owners are likely to cheat. Anyway, Philippines government have no right to tell people how to live their lives, today they hunt gamblers and drug addicts, tomorrow it will be opposition, bloggers and just people who happened to tell a joke about the president.
8943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is their any safe methods to gamble? on: August 18, 2016, 09:15:53 PM
If you try to be safely you will see very small profits, so you might decide to increase your bet, which will increase your risk, because you might be risking thousand of dollars to win  $100. If you will decide to increase numbers of bets you will increase chances of losing. So, there's no way to bet safely and be in good profit in gambling, it's better to invest big sums somewhere with low risk, for example in bitcoin casino bankroll.
8944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When gamble small amount i win and when i gamble big i loose. on: August 18, 2016, 09:05:33 PM
A thing like this always happened to my bet, rofl. I also don't know why it can be happen, especially on dice sites. This shit always happen to me when i gambling at dice sites,

This mostly happens in dice sites because people mostly use strategies on dice like martingale or many others and those strategies mostly make you bet bigger amounts when you lose just to recover the losses and at the end you will have nothing to make your bet double because you will lose everything.

yes, this happens in a dice game, I often experience this. but if the dice game I felt a little strange if this happens. but very likely the site owner can commit fraud. but if on the other bets such as sports betting, I never felt strange, when betting big or small it is just the same.

Check if your sites are provably fair and use manual client seeds every time you make a big bet to be extra sure. If your gambling site is not provably fair, that it may be likely that they are cheating. Also, there are way to for casino to cheat in some provably fair games, here's a thread about it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1494470.0
8945  Economy / Gambling / Re: Investing in btc casinos on: August 18, 2016, 08:32:22 PM
Investing in bitcoin casinos is very risky, because i had a very bad experience in gambling, i had lost all my coins in many just due to my greediness. So it is not a right place to invest your money because winning chances are very low, so invest your money in trading instead  of wasting your money and time in gambling or casinos.

You misunderstood the topic, we are talking here about investing in casinos bankroll, not gambling on our own. When you invest in casino that has proper bankroll management you won't see any significant loses in short amounts of time, the biggest threat would be casino owners running with money/getting arrested or hacked, which is very-very rare.
8946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gambling Investments on: August 18, 2016, 08:19:37 PM
I think if we wanna make Investment on website gambling more safe we make website gambling by our self, because if we make Investment on website gambling own another people. It is high risk.
but I think if you want to create a new gambling sites. you have to prepare a lot of things. such as large capital, you can not create a gambling site if you only have 10 BTC alone? surely you will lose money or lose if you're undercapitalized. and after making a gambling site you have to do promotions. because it is not directly your site will be famous for?

I think it depends; as time goes on, the bitcoin community becomes more and more innovative, and things become easier eventually. For example, when faucets started, they were hard to set up, and there were no guides to help you out. Now, it is easy to set up a faucet. It's the same for gambling sites; moneypot has made making gambling sites really easy to create. You don't even need a big bankroll to get started! However, it's a different story if you don't know how to code.

If you know how to code, go for it! Setting up a gambling site can be very profitable if you have the right vision, and can code.

Good point, accessibility of bitcoin gambling engines triggers the competition for gettting more players, which turns into lower house edges and new interesting games, as well as overall service quiality increase. So, potential investors should look for casinos with active and innovative developers that know how to attract players.
8947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: August 18, 2016, 07:52:39 PM
In gambling things go good as long as you take it as it is like on chances because if anything was working casinos owners were bankrupted long time ago. Whether it is martingale or any strategy nothing works in long term because house is designed to remain profitable always in the end. Martingale is just waste of time and a way of loosing money by sticking for long time. I don't believe this work to gain profit in dice especially as player.

Very very fond thoughts of you, I am also thinking that a gambling is definitely designed to keep getting benefits. If there are users who win 0.1 BTC from gambling then the Casino will take 1 btc from another user. Then the Casino will definitely be much more profit when we defeat

That is why bitcoin casinos will never be bankrupted. They are not losing money but rather they gain more. But people still plays there having the desire to win some amounts and dreaming that someday they will be rich which they think impossible if they just work forever in their life.

Bitcoin casinos can be bankrupted and it happened in the past. If they have small bankroll some whales with a bigger bankroll can just ruin the house, if casino owners allowed winning significant percentage of their bankroll in 1 bet.
8948  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To Gamble or To Invest? on: August 18, 2016, 07:24:32 PM
suppose you purchased bitcoins worth 10000 dollars when the price was at its peak ($1200) and currently market value is around $575 that would be a bad investment unlike gambling which might give you a return in a short period...so gambling wins

It's stupid to buy when the price have been increasing for weeks, it indicates that the crash is coming soon. But with gambling in casinos you have absolutely no way to predict your outcome, the only thing you know is that odds are against you, because of house edge. If you want to gamble, the best you can do is play poker or bet on sports or other things.

8952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gambling Investments on: August 16, 2016, 08:32:42 PM
Took a massive hit on SafeDice today 1BTC is down to 0.83573261BTC

I like that 1BTC is over 1% of their bankroll so anyone gambling will have a big impact on my bankroll investment. However, the 0.5% house edge makes the swings huge.

Wow, 12,5% is really huge swing. but they allow 10 BTC wins with Bankroll of 103 BTC, which is very stupid, even with they varying HE. Investing here seems very risky, whales have the best chances here.
8953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do any people gamble under the age of 18? on: August 16, 2016, 08:17:14 PM
Yes, there are a lot of gambling sites for CS:GO skins, and those skins are very easily traded for real money. So a lot of kids gambled on those sites and some of them probably used real money to buy skins for gambling, probably money of their parents. This is one of the main reasons why kids should never be allowed to gamble, they don't have income so they are most likely taking money from their parents or even doing something bad to get them. Also children might be more vulnurable to gambling addiction.
8954  Economy / Gambling / Re: Investing in btc casinos on: August 16, 2016, 07:52:32 PM
So after some times I invested a coin in crypto-games. Gotta say until now the investment is quite profitable, around 0.2% of interest daily on average.
It's  good one with details about the investment, so I'd advise it.

I totally agree, it's also good to learn about investing in casinos, because of all details they provide. After you get understanding of how it all works you can try investing in other sites.

By they way, they also provide Emergency Adress option, so if something will happen to them they will send all players and investors money back.
In my opinion i think its still risky to invest in  casino gambling because we dont know if they are telling the truth that they are lose if your invested are already gone.. or drain.. so better to don't invest.. or better to change plan to invest it in trading instead.

There are very small chances of this to happen, gambling sites bring constant profit to their owners, so they try to keep their reputation clean and don't scam their players and investors. But investing in altcoin trading is always very risky, prices are going up and down by huge percentages in a minute.
8955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To Gamble or To Invest? on: August 16, 2016, 07:43:50 PM
If out there have an investment that safe and have huge interest i will invest it for sure, but i don't find one until now. So, i prefer to gambling for now.

Safety and huge interest don't come together, if you want profit you have to invest big amount somewhere safe but with low interest. Investing in Bitcoin casinos falls into that category.
8956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LBRY.IO CPU/GPU MINING POOLS AVAILABLE (DISCUSSION THREAD) on: August 16, 2016, 07:39:05 PM
Block reward is going up every couple blocks for about the next 2 months until it reaches 500. Right now it's at 246. So I would expect the price to go down in the emission is going up.  After 2 months, it will start going down from 500 logarithmically.  That's when I think people will start to panic and begin buying again.  HODL!
If the block reward goes up - the price will go down because of inflation.

The network difficulty is 3x times higher so is like block reward=82 so the price should be around 100k

Difficulty affects only supply of miners, network supply stays the same, so it doesn't affect the price.

Is GTX 1060 supported in version 6.1? I have very low hashrates (3.83 for ETH and 38.393 for DCR), while my system is freezing. I have Windows 10 1607 and 372.54 drivers.

Can I use ccminer with 372.54 drivers or should I wait for update/downgrade drivers? (sorry for noob question)
8960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Owners of GTX 1060, what is your hashrate? on: August 15, 2016, 06:18:45 PM
Thank you for sharing it. While on Neoscrypt I'm well suprised, I have to say that in LyraRE2V2, it sucks Undecided... I'm glad of the purchase of my 1070 finally !

That's Lyra2v2 on the screenshot, not Lyra2Rev2 (on which GTX 1060 has 22.5 MH/s).

Anyway, congrats on 1070, great card! I was buying my GTX 1060 mostly for gaming, and it's very good for 1080p, GTX 1070 would be an overkill.
