8981  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallet protection on a online computer on: May 27, 2021, 09:34:42 AM
Am I missing something?
The two most important elements to the security of your coins is the seed you generate when you first fire-up your hardware wallet and the private keys derived from that seed, which sign transactions allowing you to spend your coins. In the case of Ledger, the seed is only visible on the screen of your hardware wallet. It's native software, Ledger Live, never sees the seed.

The private keys are kept in a sealed environment known as the Secure Element. The keys only get used when you need to sign transactions to spend coins. For that, you need to physically allow your device to sign the transaction by pressing the two buttons on top of it. No software or third-party can see your keys or broadcast the transaction for you.

You can test that yourself if you have a Ledger hardware wallet.
If you use Electrum, create a new wallet for testing purposes. Run the software, click on Wallet > Private Keys > Export. Enter your password and Electrum will display the private keys of 20 receiving and 10 change addresses by default.

Try the same with your Ledger. Plug in your Ledger and connect it to Electrum. Open your bitcoin wallet and try to view and export your private keys. You will see that it doesn't work because Electrum can't access them.
8982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to adjust and work with the bet365 live streaming on: May 27, 2021, 08:59:38 AM
Going to try this for sure but recently they have made a rule such that you cannot zoom the window otherwise it will just disable stream.
Check my opening post. I have described how you can adjust the stream window however you want by using Mozilla Firefox, or using the Maximize Flash Video add-on available both for Chrome and Firefox. If you don't like installing unnecessary add-ons (I know I don't) just stick with the Firefox method. It's easier.

...as we can remembmer at 2015 when ICO's where really popular campaigns which had some celebrities on them got some preety nice prices after the ICO and even I joined them, but they all went down in price unfortunatally but really obvious the expect that to happen time and time again media are really impactfull right now
Think about it: Why did those campaigns hire famous actors, athletes, or musicians to advertise their brands? It's because they are targeting people who follow the likes of Snoop Dogg, Floyd Mayweather, or Steven Seagal to tell them what is good, how to be trendy, and what to do. A powerful coin would focus on the strength of its services and use cases, not on the social media reach of its ambassadors.

Back when McAfee was popular due to his challenges that he will eat his...thing, though I know that's just a joke, I never even thought that he was like pushing  or hyping people to invest in Bitcoin.
I wasn't talking about his statements on bitcoin. McAfee had something like the coin of the day where he tweeted about ICOs he thought (or promised) would change the world Roll Eyes.
8984  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: May 27, 2021, 08:24:08 AM
There is an update from Coinroyale few weeks ago that they have one time free withdrawal per week as per below post:
Thanks for the tip! I have updated the info in the table in OP.

Anyway, this is a good list of fees and this is a good reason for me not to withdraw my money on those casinos using BTC or ETH.
Unless the exchange has an in-built cryptocurrency exchange or swap service (and must don't), you have no other choice than to withdraw the coins in the original currency you once deposited them in.

though there are sites that didn't have any options aside from BTC and ETH hope to have some updates with them too.
^ What kind of update do you want to see? I saw it is a perfect gambling list thread, you can also have a comparison of both of them in which altcoin do you like to use.
I think CSquared Collective wasn't talking about an update of this thread. I think he was trying to say that he would prefer that crypto casinos which only support BTC and ETH introduce some other altcoins as well.

@Rikafip, @shahzadafzal
I understand what you guys are saying, but I wasn't talking about bottom of the barrel altcoins (shitcoins), Jesus Coins, and those CumSwap platforms.

But Matic Network advertised on Bitcointalk for example. Solana has a short ANN thread created back in February. Not sure if the OP is a team member or just a supporter of the project. I think Tron advertised on the forum as well, but I could be wrong about that.

Cosmos (ATOM) has its ANN thread on Bitcointalk. Havven, now rebranded to Synthetix announced its ICO and held a bounty campaign here. I remember NEXO as well. There was a decentralized VPN provider, but I forgot their name. Etc., etc.

Whether or not these are considered shitcoins or not, is a different topic of discussion. But Rikafip is also right when he says that Bitcointalk doesn't have such an importance anymore as it did in the past. I don't follow the altcoin scene as I did many years ago, but I also remember seeing Avalanche and we can't forget about Grin either.

Baš me zanima kako će ići ta provjera?

@FortuneJack
I don't have any bitcoin in my betting account right now so I can't test it, but is it true that you have lowered your minimum withdrawal limit from 0.04 BTC to 0.02 BTC? I have created a thread where I keep track of withdrawal fees and minimum withdrawal limits of popular crypto casinos, and if your limits have changed, I'd like to know, so I can update the data in my thread.

Also, every newbie who comes along because of Elon has a chance to evolve into a lifelong holder. In the short term, it can be annoying but in the long term, it'll strengthen bitcoin.
I like that part of your post that I bolded. Every newbie who gets inspired by Musk to purchase his first coins might like his new financial independence and decide to hang on to it and get more involved in crypto. People like Musk are manipulators. As soon as people understand that they are using you as a tool to increase their own wealth, you will understand why my statement is true. They need you and the masses to buy, so that they can sell. When you sell due to short-term losses, they will use the profits from their previous cycles to buy back your coins.

Look at John McAfee for example. People were hailing him as a crypto mastermind whose goal was to help the regular Joe earn a living with ICOs. Turns out, he was paid by those same ICOs he was shilling to bring them closer to the general public. Manipulation of the masses.
8990  Other / Meta / Re: Whats the point of this website? on: May 26, 2021, 09:11:37 AM
i am sure that 100% of all crypto coin developers in circulation have accounts here.
No, that is not true. Many have, but certainly not 100% of the developers. If you take a look at this thread, you would see that many bitcoin developers use IRC and mailing lists to communicate with each other. GitHub is also high on the agenda for them.

When it comes to altcoin projects, Bitcointalk is a great place to advertise those especially if the company has plans to run ICO and similar advertising campaigns. But I have come across news headlines mentioning various projects who have never done any advertising on Bitcointalk. For that, they can use Reddit, YouTube, Twitter, Discord, and other social media.

PS
Does anyone knows what the heck is going on with images from my post showing Data Migration in Process?
hostingkartinok.com seems to be migrating to a new hosting provider, that's why your images aren't being displayed on the forum. According to what they explained on their homepage, all images that don't violate their terms and conditions will soon become available again.

It's an off-topic question, but why aren't you using Imgur for example? I don't remember that I ever had issues with my images from Imgur becoming unavailable as long as they are https.
8992  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: May 26, 2021, 08:52:17 AM
Neka kombinacija poštenja i naivnosti.

Navodim primjer svog oca.

8993  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: HW Wallets & SW Wallets are a Scam - They & Exchanges are Main Theft Vector on: May 26, 2021, 08:28:12 AM
@btc-room101
You are welcome to back up your claims with some proof, but based on your post history and trust ratings on Bitcointalk, you wont and you can't. Trusting any service blindly isn't recommended and I don't think there is anyone who wouldn't agree with you on that. But baseless claims like the ones you are bringing to the table have no value.

You should stop posting multiple posts in a row and reply to the users you want to reply to in just one post. Use the "Insert Quote" button for that.
8994  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whales and the bull/bear market on: May 25, 2021, 12:54:33 PM
A coordinated sale where whales dump thousands of Bitcoins around the same time coupled with a series of negative events that impact the price of bitcoin can significantly hit the price. There have been various reports that big investors did just that in the recent few weeks. I usually don't pay close attention to stuff like that, but if we consider that the majority are in it for the sole goal of making as much money as possible, why wouldn't there by coordinated sell-offs? Sell at a high, wait for panic to spread for the value to drop even more, and buy back when prices drop to a point you feel comfortable to step back in.
8995  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: May 25, 2021, 12:45:36 PM
I don't worry too much about withdraw fees on crypto casinos because I only deposit!
Does that mean you don't have any plans to win something and later withdraw your winnings to a private wallet? Are you playing until it's all gone?

The problem with withdrawal fees is that the prices are fluctuating at an bemusing pace so you will either pay really low or really high at a given day, if there is a way where they update the withdrawal fees in consistent with the current prices, that would be good.
There is a way, and some casinos have already implemented dynamic fees that take into account the current state of unconfirmed transactions in the mempool and change the required fees accordingly. In some other places, players are given a choice between a faster or slower confirmation time. Other platforms have static fees and you pay the same amount no matter the conditions on the blockchain.

Crap, you are absolutely right. I didn't pay attention to the years the two threads were written in at all. He started his ban appeal thread on May 17 2019 and the thread we are writing in now on 18 May but in 2021. I made the wrong conclusion that he was pardoned and returned after just a day in the penalty box.
8997  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: May 25, 2021, 09:36:25 AM
10- 20 $ tjedno?

8998  Other / Meta / Re: Finally got full access of my account on: May 25, 2021, 09:22:37 AM
I have been banned for 2 months (full ban) and 2 years for signature ban.
You were?  Why do I see a bunch of posts made for the last few months?  I'm not accusing you of anything, just confused a little bit.
shasan appealed his temporary ban on 17 May. My guess is that he was banned for a day until one of the admins saw his appeal thread on Meta and unbanned him. He could have also contacted the admins via private messages and got his account reinstated that way. Since he is wearing a sig, his signature ban got removed as well.
8999  Other / Meta / Re: frodocooper nolonger a mod, what could have happened? on: May 25, 2021, 09:07:29 AM
I also think philipma1957 would be a great candidate but he will probably decline.
Don't be so sure about that. I remember that philipma1957 was one of the members who complained in the past that some of his posts and threads were being deleted in the mining sub. If he was offered or applied to be the mod of the mining section, he might accept to show a more lenient approach and don't go straight to post deletion.

phantastisch can also be safely removed from the list of staff members. It was mentioned previously in the thread that another user has taken over moderation of the German local board. Also, phantastisch hasn't been active on Bitcointalk since September 08, 2019.
