8981  Economy / Services / Re: Fully working site - finding the next level on: March 14, 2014, 08:49:38 AM
Seeing all the comments made me curious
This is an interesting idea I can see it working as a neat venue for artists in cryptocurrency and a meeting place to discover new work
Hats off to you

Not enough evidence aka proven data to confirm it but they have paid out their sig campaigners the question I was requesting was addressing the fairness of the Casino itself through people who know what they are doing not whether he censors threads and acts unprofessional

If you claim you're "provably fair" and your response to "prove it" is to censor the thread and act like an asshole, you are probably not provably fair and you are probably a fucking fraud.  This site should be listed as a scam site and so should you for advertising it.

Opinions are fine and all and perhaps you are correct but I prefer evidence instead of speculation and that I have not seen yet
Although I am admitting you have a point there
I put more trust in data than users Mircea has proven that may be a flaming raging troll at times but she has valid points and well trilema keeps a nice ledger of the activities Tongue

But I am observing as well

Personally my Decision is not set in stone either but for now my sig will stay until proven verifiable information from a trusted community member clearly shows otherwise

That said I do take your opinion seriously and with a grain of salt since Mem's thread is fairly quiet on this sent a PM to B!Z requesting a review of the site and perhaps a thread on bitcoin reviewer

If you want to help out feel free to also send them a contact message to prove this with hard data one way or the other
http://bitcoinreviewer.com/

Edit In: B!Z got back to me and said he will review the site but if you don't trust that this happened feel free to do it yourself as well and not just take the face value of the message below ^_^

Hi Swords,

I'll take a look at the site and write what I find on Bitcoin Reviewer. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Cheers,
b!z

I guess I should argue since I see it above

What will the media think of the largest bitcoin forum supporting ponzi schemes and how does that look for Bitcoins reputation
We are supposed to be representatives are we not
As I get a giant bong from the old silk road  Wink

Exactly.

I get that the forum needs money, and without it, well... Yeah. But don't just accept money from everybody, and everything. Bitcoin's reputation is already terrible. But that's basically telling people that we support scams/schemes of that type. If we accept ads for that, than we should basically accept ads for scams.

And of course, we should get the scammer tag off of Dank.

The forum really doesn't actually need that much money the Advertising pays the moderators who run the forum but donations from way back means the forum has a huge surplus of cash

It's the reason Theymos went and made a million dollar forum project, in this case the decision to support ponzi sites is just based on them paying for the exposure more than any other basis.

8986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs. XBT on: March 13, 2014, 10:34:54 PM
XBT (Guess we are stuck with it)

Only if we want to conform to a standard that was not designed for cryptocurrencies nor with cryptocurrencies in mind (because they didn't exist).

The X is applied to everything

Guess LTC would be
XLT
Powercoin
XPT
Namecoin
XNC
SexCoin
XXX (Xsc)  Grin

Stuck with the X lol

XBT does not indicate anything about "non-standard". In fact, it is the opposite, it indicates following the established international standards. XAU is gold, XAG is silver, those are not non-standard currencies, they are just currencies that were not issued by any national government. Likewise, bitcoin was not issued by a national government, so its code should start with X.

Are you saying gold and silver are less significant than government fiat? X means non-government, therefore universal. Therefore, these should be regarded as more significant.

In normal usage, like where you would use $, BTC is fine. For places like exchanges where USD would be used, the term XBT should be used to conform with accepted standards.

8987  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: March 13, 2014, 04:45:44 PM
do people sell in $ amounts but get paid in bitcoin, or actually offer a bitcoin price?
I can't imagine allowing the bitcoin price to change the fiat value of my house by 30%+!

Actually it could be 500 - 600% volatility

If you recall last year the price was stable at 90-250 dollars when the house was put up for offer
By the time it completed its now at the $600 range with the upper range around $1000
So its definitely and interesting investment but one that makes sense if you don't mind movements
Sell enough to cover house cost then keep rest is a possibility
Inverse as well Smiley
8988  Economy / Goods / Re: Oil Painting For Sale on: March 13, 2014, 04:37:02 PM
+1 to E.exchanger and stonerdyke.

The price is pretty high, and you should really give us a pic of your paintings.

One cannot judge art if one cannot observe it
Unless this is abstract art and even then people need to look at it  Wink

It might be an offer for painting a portrait?

Perhaps that's what it meant then I guess some may be interested in a self portrait not sure how much a good oil painting of yourself goes for actually or how long it takes so can't tell if its a good price

Around $650 USD/BTC * 15

Self portrait on oil canvas roughly 10,000 ($9750)

Maybe ok  Huh

8990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs. XBT on: March 13, 2014, 04:26:46 PM
bitcoin should not migrate to conform to the 'old type' of system i agree fully. but the old type of system is not about fiat. after al there are codes for wheat, poultry gold.. all of which are not fiat.

Yes, but they are "non-standard" types of currency, hence the X__ assignation. XBT might be acceptable as ticker symbols for mainstream trading sites as they add Bitcoin, but do we want cryptocurrencies to be relegated to some "non-standard" category? Obviously not.

I guess I would prefer it to be XBTC but I guess they need to be three letters and Bitcoin is not an element on the table so it has more letters

XBTC  (Too short)
XBTC (Too Long)
XBT (Guess we are stuck with it)

8991  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-3-12 Zero Hedge: The Complete Annotated Price History Of Bitcoin on: March 13, 2014, 07:47:05 AM
I actually enjoyed that coindesk chart was fairly accurate if not the article itself
8992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction reversability would be a BAD thing on: March 13, 2014, 07:41:30 AM
A more than complex question reading through the replies I see some good points so not really going to put anything up

Just more of a note that while we haven't even scratched the surface of the protocol, it is possible to build a system onto the current one that can address these issues, including contracts and timed confirmations

Anyways this is a timeless issue going back to the beginning of bitcoin so sooner or later an idea will emerge to solve it whether people use it or not will depend on if they see utility in it
After all it would be part of a voluntary system

Well I'm advertizing Ritz for my sig campaign so can someone do an independent evaluation of it

https://www.ritzgrandcasino.com/
They are a proven scam, see here

Not enough evidence aka proven data to confirm it but they have paid out their sig campaigners the question I was requesting was addressing the fairness of the Casino itself through people who know what they are doing not whether he censors threads and acts unprofessional

Why I sent out a request in this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=490702.msg5475757#msg5475757

Same thread

As an aside the forum advertises ponzis now proving a casino is legit seems like a good enough concern to check out as well

How about too many thoughts in general? But can I change the subject?

No, not unless you know how to do so and why should you?

Because at times things change even if we don't expect them to do they not?

I would say Oui Oui but that seems a bit bias
So will say absolutely worth trying if the verifications are easier over there
