8981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tezos leaders ask for patience over dispute on cybercurrency project on: October 26, 2017, 02:02:59 AM
@bigdude. The people in the Tezos community are still supportive of the project which they should be. There is still a chance that everything will be put in order and then put this problem behind them. But they might also be bordering in denial.

In denial? https://www.reddit.com/r/tezos/comments/78o1zh/the_tezos_controversy_is_exactly_why_crypto_needs/

Tezos' development will depend on how close the government is in starting to intervene.

I reckon it was Chael Sonnen who said that steroids do not give fighters super strength. If a fighter does not have the power to knock out someone, steroids will not help.

What steroids do during training is to help with faster recovery, stamina and a little strength. But they do not transform you to become a power puncher like Mike Tyson.

Thank you. Is there a chart for the total hashrate of Aeon since the beginning? I want to see its progress from a mining viewpoint, and compare that with its interaction on the price.

8984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins Killed By Cryptsy on: October 26, 2017, 01:14:43 AM
If a cryptocoin depends on an exchange to make it live or die, then it does not deserve our time and bitcoins. A cryptocoin should depend on its own community. Without it a real community, then it should die.

Developers should also be dispensable. Read about the history of Monero. It became more progressive after smooth and others deposed the founder.

8985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tezos leaders ask for patience over dispute on cybercurrency project on: October 26, 2017, 01:02:22 AM
@CryptoBry. This is the biggest worry that might unsettle both the regulators and the ICOs in the cryptospace.

In the Tezos fundraising, participants were told they were not making an investment, but a “non-refundable donation” to the Tezos Foundation, which is seeking not-for-profit status.

If the Tezos foundation and the Breitmans, pictured above, do not solve their conflicts from within their organization, then they should refund all the investors of the ICO. But according to Tezos the investors are really donators and do not have the right to claim for a refund.

They carefully planned this to protect themselves but not their investors.

Will Tezos then become the biggest scam in the cryptospace?

8987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 25, 2017, 02:09:32 AM
Aeon holders, I want to know your assumptions about Aeon's price support. Is the new support now on 25,000 satoshis or do you see it going back beneath 20,000?

I am buying more bitcoins now to invest in Aeon but I do not know at what price to buy.

@americanpegasus. Please come out of your cave.
8988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Tezos leaders ask for patience over dispute on cybercurrency project on: October 25, 2017, 01:59:49 AM
This is a type of situation that will force the SEC's hand to make a decision that will be unfavorable for all ICOs. What happened to Tezos and their foundation? They had a successful ICO and their platform is on the way. What else are they looking for that caused the dispute? More money?

I speculate that the article is not telling everyone the whole story.

The creators of an embattled cybercurrency technology project called Tezos expressed regret on Tuesday about their ongoing dispute with the head of a Swiss foundation that controls the $232 million they raised in one of the largest “initial coin offerings” ever.

In the Tezos fundraising, participants were told they were not making an investment, but a “non-refundable donation” to the Tezos Foundation, which is seeking not-for-profit status.

@ralle14. The only tipster that I have seen making a profit here is Carlespuyol. He also posts his betting slips as proof that he made the bets. The rest are there to spam the forum and making bad advice and betting tips.

Someone should record their win/loss ratio and expose them.
8990  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-25] NYU's dean says he'll be 'OK' with the price of bitcoin. But on: October 25, 2017, 01:02:30 AM
I reckon Aswath Damodaran's analysis on bitcoin is fair, unlike the other comments from Jaime Dimon and the Saudi prince. At least Aswath did his research and due diligence.

I am also ok with his analysis in classifying bitcoin as a collectible, as long as it is a collectible we can use to buy, sell and trade like a currency.

"I think the better path for bitcoin is to actually make it a digital currency, a currency that you and I can take on our travels and use actually to buy stuff and sell stuff. If that happens, then I'm OK with the pricing," said Aswath Damodaran, a professor of corporate finance and valuation at New York University's Stern School of Business.

"If that doesn't happen, I don't see how bitcoin can have the staying power of gold. It could be just another fad. Another digital currency could replace it," he said.

In giving bitcoin a chance, Damodaran said he disagrees with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, who called the digital currency a "fraud" in September.

Separately, in a blog post on Tuesday, Damodaran laid out why he sees bitcoin as a currency without investable value.

Damodaran said he sees three possible paths for bitcoin as a currency. Listed from best to worst, they are:

Global digital currency
Gold for millennials
The 21st century tulip bulb.

8991  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-23] Saudi Prince Al-Waleed: Bitcoin Is 'Going to Implode' on: October 25, 2017, 12:24:01 AM
With all the wealth he has, I think it doesn't make sense for him to criticized bitcoin. However, bitcoin is now very popular, every individual has its very opinion on it. hahahaha. Every one that you are going to interview has something to say about bitcoin. I hope you are not investing on it Price, otherwise you are just getting into the popularity and riding with it all along. We can understand Dimon's attack because he is a bankers, but you sir with your billions of pesos just sitting everywhere, doesn't makes sense to bash bitcoin at your level.

It does make sense for him to criticize it. If you did your research, you would know that the prince and Jaime Dimon are on the same side. JP Morgan will be doing the underwriting for the Saudi Aramco IPO.

You also do not have to take his words seriously. A person who compares bitcoin with Enron is not bright.

How many new mining pools have been coming online in the last 2 months? I was lurking /r/Aeon and I saw that there were maybe 4 or 5 threads promoting new pools ready to take miners.

I reckon that is a sign of a growing community. It starts with the technical people and the miners, then spreads out to the investors and speculators, then finally the merchants and consumers.

8993  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1XBet - Best odds, free streaming, livebetting ... with BTC - Bonus for you on: October 24, 2017, 12:26:15 AM
@1Xbet_fra. Is your sportsbook run by the same people behind 1xbit? There were problems with withdrawals from 1xbit, resulting with the moderators giving negative trust on the account of its representative here in the forum.

Can you explain what your connection is with them?

If I remember it correctly you were in 1xbit signature campaign, weren't you? I think they are behind the same people and as I know 1xbet is the older site before they launched 1xbit. Even if they are no more issues but I dont think bitcoin gambler will be interested in this site because of their bad history and now it requires personal information.
No points to join this site unless you wanna risk your money.

Yes, I was in the their campaign, but until Yahoo stopped the campaign and the red negative rating by the moderators, that was when I started thinking that they might be purposefully locking accounts of some users, but not all. I reckon some sportsbooks do that if they know that a user can beat their odds.

Personally, I used 1xbit with small deposits and I never had problems with withdrawals.

I reckon it is another instance of over hyping a fighter. 3 years ago, Cowboy was supposed to be the next dominant champion in either the lightweight or welterweight division. The UFC has tried to market him is one of the future greats in MMA, but the results did not back it up.

But Conor has been very lucky to get the results.

@LTU_btc. There is a conspiracy against Max hehehe. Kimi himself has said in a post race interview that he had no idea why Max was punished. Or it might only be another instance of wrong decision making by the race stewards.

Redbull should still be proud. Max is an amazing driver.

8997  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-22] Two South Korean Bitcoin Exchanges Announce Hard Fork Plans on: October 23, 2017, 12:37:56 AM
I think it would be great to Bitcoin if both alt coins fail in less than one month. If this doesn't happen, more people will try fork Bitcoin and claim that they are the real deal.

Bitcoin gold is just a scam. And should be treated this way. Bitcoin 2x is an attack on the core team. This just confuses new users and make all the community look bad.

True. I reckon the scammers in the cryptospace will now try to pivot from ICOs to forking known and legitimate cryptocoins on 2018. So coins like Monero, Litecoin and others should be ready to fight this to avoid splitting their community and their coin's market capitalization.

Bittrex does not have the privacy feature of allowing users to generate new deposit addresses. But can they allow multiple accounts linked to a single identity?
8999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Cash Poker Pro presale - decentralized poker room on: October 22, 2017, 01:39:50 AM
@CashPokerPro. If your ICO is successful and has raised more bitcoins than you expected, are you open to the idea of expanding your site to also have a sportsbook?

I reckon one of the cryptospace's biggest markets is gambling on sports and we have only a few good ones available.
9000  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-22] Two South Korean Bitcoin Exchanges Announce Hard Fork Plans on: October 22, 2017, 01:03:22 AM
Coinone and Cointest of South Korea have already declared their intentions to make Segwit2x the altcoin. I hope the rest of the exchanges in that region follow soon so that we all avoid any kind of confusion on November.

Coinone’s bitcoin trading volume has recently surpassed another leading South Korean exchange, Korbit, according to Coinmarketcap. The platform has gained more popularity since it launched a physical exchange early last month. Citing the “possibility that a new virtual currency will be derived from the existing bitcoin,” the exchange wrote:

Coinone will do its best to support the creation of a new virtual currency, which is generated from a hard fork in the existing blockchain in the future, and to quickly support deposits and withdrawals.

The exchange currently ranks fourth by bitcoin trading volume in the country, according to Coinhills. However, its volume is about one-third of Korbit’s and less than a quarter of Coinone’s at the time of writing. In its announcement on Thursday, Coinnest CEO Kim Byeong-hwan said:

We have completed the technical preparations for the hard fork for the first time among the domestic exchanges.
