8981  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc next support @1,800 $ ? on: July 16, 2017, 04:43:26 AM
The only positive is to think bitcoins are on sale and time to buy

We still have not reached August yet. I believe Jeff Garzik will not risk rushing his Segwit2x-BTC1 software update. He knows he will be the guy who could break Bitcoin if he does and this will again fork back to Core. We will be in a wild ride because UASF will be first out in the internet.
8982  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is sliding down because of the Fork. What will happen today? on: July 16, 2017, 04:40:05 AM
As you all hopefully know, if miners adopt the Segwit2x/BTC1 client until July 23, there won't be a fork nor a chain split in August because Segwit will be activated. So the delay probably added a bit of uncertainty, and so some decided to take profits.

Not that long ago, Core developer Luke Dashjr stated that SegWit2X hard fork will fail. Is that according to you a hopeless attempt to ignore the fact that the economic majority supports SegWit2X, and thus he can't admit his "loss", or do you see some sort of a valid point in his reasoning? Other than that, this might indeed have been a major driver for the price to go down. I was looking for a specific reason, but couldn't find any sort of justification other than people being afraid of a potential hard fork, and thus liquidate their coins.

You call all those merchants, services and exchanges who joined the Silbert Accord the "economic majority" of Bitcoin? It is more like an Oligarch. No one in the community should encourage that type of control on Bitcoin which is supposed to be a public and permissionless network.

Your beliefs are twisted.
8983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is sliding down because of the Fork. What will happen today? on: July 15, 2017, 08:06:35 AM
OP, yes I believe it will breakdown below the $2000 level. Market participants both pros and amateurs are now short selling Bitcoin for profit as opposed to buy and hold, this means the bearish trend is already starting.

I also believe that all the ICOs that have collected hundreds of millions are now starting to sell heavily pushing the price down further.
8984  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc next support @1,800 $ ? on: July 15, 2017, 06:55:56 AM
You are right ,may be bottom reached for today

For today, maybe. But what about on August? In the middle of all the confusion when UASF starts and the possible split on the blockchain we might see the price below $2000. We also have not seen the last of the mempool flooder. When they were spamming the network they have created a lot of very tiny UTXOs. What would happen if they started moving them again? That would surely be strain in the network.
8985  Economy / Speculation / Re: My first short :o on: July 15, 2017, 06:50:36 AM
This is definitely bad news when amateur traders find it in themselves the courage to do short sells on Bitcoin. Short selling is a form of betting against Bitcoin and this does not bode well in the coming months.

What happened to "buy and hold, and buy the dips"? Do you not believe in the technology anymore?
8986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Poll. UASF or Segwit2x? on: July 15, 2017, 06:40:31 AM
This should be a fun poll. I want to find out what all of us collectively think is good for Bitcoin overall backed up by our limited knowledge on the issue. So imagine this. If a core developer came up to you right now and asked "What do you support, UASF or Segwit2x?", what would you answer?

It is ok not to read up on the issue, just use what you know now and answer as best as you can.

My answer, I vote for the UASF. The miners should work for the network, not rule and control it.
8987  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy crypto or buy a mining contract? on: July 14, 2017, 08:28:15 AM
Saves yourself from the hassle and just buy crypto instead (at the same time, your money is completely in your control). Most websites that offer mining contracts (there's few that so far are good but I won't list them), turn out to be scam websites (along the road) and you'll end up on the losing side (stay away from such websites).

Thanks for the advice. I am looking for cloudmining sites to invest in but I have a hard time finding which one is good. A lot of the comments here say Genesis Mining is good and also Hashnest. Can you give us your assessment on them?
8988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: COULD SATOSHI NAKAMOTO BE HOLDING 2.2 MILLION BITCOINS? on: July 14, 2017, 08:16:38 AM
again this thread, it was already debunked the holding of satoshi which was initially estimated to be 1M, not 2.2 which is impossible, because to reach that amount you must mine for year alone

ant his was not possible because after few month other joined the mining activity

He will if the blockchain splits this coming August. Hehehe. That is why I raised the argument why keep talking about his holdings? We should be worried about the Bitcoin whales who are willing to take sides and are not fearful of dumping their coins on an opposing chain.
8989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Retailers Turn Their Backs On Booming Bitcoin: Trade Magazine on: July 14, 2017, 08:08:20 AM
Who cares, only a portion of Bitcoiners will use the currency to buy retail items from them anyway. The dark markets are another matter. If you are a drug addict and you want the safest way to buy drugs then you will NEED Bitcoin.
8990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: COULD SATOSHI NAKAMOTO BE HOLDING 2.2 MILLION BITCOINS? on: July 14, 2017, 07:55:04 AM
Forget Satoshi. Worry about the people who can dump. What of the Bitcoin whales like Roger Ver or Mircea Popescu? If the blockchain splits, will we have a dumping war happen? Does anyone know where they stand and what side they are on?
8991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How strong is Bitcoin compared to others cyptocurrency? on: July 13, 2017, 05:51:02 AM
Hi Everyone,

I am new and doing research on Bitcoin and some other cyptocurrencies. Just wondering if i were to invest, will Bitcoin be one of the safest to dump my money into?

Thanks and hope to hear your opionion soon people! Smiley

It is the strongest. It has the most hash power making it very secure, the developers are among the best in all of cryptocurrencies and it still has a lot of room for developing further.

The negative part is the politics. There is too much infighting and too much drama from within the community. The group of people that will destroy Bitcoin are the people from within.

If you plan to invest, wait for what happens after August 1.
8992  Economy / Speculation / Re: Experts! is it time to sell or buy? on: July 13, 2017, 05:22:41 AM
I believe it it is time to diversify. I have always been looking for a buy and hold type of cryptocurrency but I have not found one yet. I wanted to invest in ETH but the fork discouraged me to do it. Then I started looking at ETC but that is the DAO hacker's way of cashing out his "earnings". LTC is another one I like but Jihan Wu has his fingers in it also. The final worthy choice I have is Monero, the development team is smart and I believe some of them is qualified to be Bitcoin Core developers. Small dark markets have started accepting XMR for payments which is good for utility. But the price is too high now.

I might end up holding Bitcoin until August 1. Please advice me.
8993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] DDF - Digital Developers Fund: Profit From Digital Assets on: July 13, 2017, 05:10:50 AM
With all the breaking news exposing that Ethereum has worse scalability problems than Bitcoin and that, according to some experts, most of those dapp ICOs will not be successful because if the limitations of Ethereum itself, do you still have a rosy projection for the platform? If not, do you have plans to change your allocations of the investments to better cryptocurrencies?

The asset allocation strategy does not limit us in terms of which crypto currencies to invest in. All the major currencies are considered.

With your expertise in choosing what altcoins are good, I want to know what you think of Monero. I have always been looking for an altcoin to invest in and hold for years but I have a hard time choosing which one is the best.
8994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New release of Bitcoin ABC: 0.14.2 - Difficulty adjustment on: July 12, 2017, 08:10:05 AM
This is beginning to become a joke with all the other implementations around. If one fails to gain support from the community on they go with the next. I am not an expert by any means to make a technical comment but the experts like Peter Todd that make technical arguments are brushed off as FUD with no technical rebuttal. Also if there are bugs in their release they blame someone else.
8995  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can u turn 25$ to 5000$ in 6 months trading cryptos? on: July 12, 2017, 08:04:03 AM
Is it possible to turn 25$ to 5000$ trading cryptos for 6 months?

Hell Yes! Smiley
I started with 19.16 USD deposit on 27.05.2016
I'm way-way past the 5000 limit.
If you take any advice from me here is my shortlist:
-trade for small profits. 3% earning on a transaction is good. Make that 79 times and you just have 10 times more money.
-small orders. Split your investment on at least 10 coins, put small orders, they will get executed a lot faster than bigger ones.
-trade without feelings. Don't attach to some coins that might go to the moon, stick with the earth and bring a small profit hour-by-hour, day-by-day.
-learn to loose. Sometimes you get it wrong, it is OK, market recovers, coins get pumped, time will save you.
-no ICO-s. When you enter in an ICO, you'll lock your coins for a time (technical errors, audits, token emission, exchange listing, bla bla). With small amounts it's not worth participating.

When you get to 5000 you'll need to change your trading strategy, but until than you'll get wiser and experinced.

Good luck with your trading!

I will believe it if I see it. But the general answer is no, that would be hard to do and you would have to be very lucky to acheive that goal starting from $25.

There is no replacement for hard work to make money, OP.

8997  Economy / Speculation / Re: the next few months....my predictions on: July 12, 2017, 07:51:39 AM
We will see the uncertainty around the various transitions of USAF ... FORKS 2MBSegwit and whatever will see BTC price drop alot....then a winner will appear and go to 10K each or a market cap of circa $200B on its own within the year.

The question is, that winner BTC, ETH, LTC, IOTA, NEM or DASH?

If Bitcoin see a very big price drop then all of the other coins will go down in market capitalization. That is the nature of the market. All the altcoins you listed do not have real world usage except for BTC. But if I had to choose then I believe LTC has a good chance only of BTC is not in that list.

I also like to add that I believe XMR is better than all those altcoins in your list.
8998  Economy / Speculation / Re: Preparing for the BIG FEAST! on: July 12, 2017, 07:42:13 AM
Feast?
You call the destruction of a revolutionary network and its ecosystem a feast?
You realize recovery is extremely unlikely with the complete chaos that is coming.... maybe a small bounce but after that its finished, just as i predicted so long ago.

Here he is kwukduck again. This is a signal to get ready and buy. He will start spreading FUD again and encourage us to sell every coin we have "because Bitcoin is dead" as long as the price is falling.

I guess you should be the last to say that

A little over a year ago (or was it in fact less than a year ago?) you were preaching yourself that Bitcoin price would never rise over 600 dollars per coin (well, not until the end of 2016). Now you seem to have changed your stance? If you have, it may turn out that you shouldn't. I'm not very familiar with this dude's prophecies (though I think I can safely guess what he had been professing), but this time he might prove right after all. Bitcoin has never been so shaky as it is now (not even after the Mt. Gox catastrophe)

Well at the very least I know it will not go below $1000, but if it does then I will be happy to buy those coins from people who do not want them anymore. Bitcoin will be stronger and better after August 1.
8999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit2x agreement with >80% miner support. on: July 11, 2017, 07:34:50 AM
Basically them right now:

https://twitter.com/petertoddbtc/status/884534547202940928

Things are getting ridiculous.

...This needs to be stopped and making 1 MB the minimum size is a good step in ensuring that.
There it is, the dumbest thing I've read in 59 pages.  Undecided
I fully agree. The idea to force blocks bigger than 1 MB is inherently flawed. Anyhow, this place is full of idiots that post their worthless opinions.

That is funny. Obviously there will be attackers when Segwit2x is deployed. In my opinion, it would be better for them not to rush things and make the release after UASF, just in case it is not successful.

Sometimes it feels like someone on the top is protecting and working directly with the miners.
9000  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [newb] Buying Bitcoin strategy on: July 11, 2017, 07:17:19 AM
Hello everyone

I just started with Kraken and have a few questions.
I have bought some XBT at a price of $2000 usd before and it is dropping quite a bit today (11 june)

My question is..
1) Lets say the $2000 has dropped to $1000 and i foresee that it will drop even more.
Wouldn't it be wise to tell all XBT now and wait until it is actually at its lowest (to my point of view) and then buy in XBT again with $1000?

That would be good to save you some fiat losses. But the better strategy is to get more fiat and buy more cheap Bitcoins to hold.

Quote
2) When people say they are holding onto their XBT regardless of the price, does it mean that they are just letting it ride and hope it just picks up later?
So for example, someone bought it at $2000 and they just let it sit there even if the price goes to $1000 or $0.01 cents (i know this won't happen but it's an example:) )

Thank you

Yes. Most of the holders here do not care about the fiat value of Bitcoin. All we want is more Bitcoins. If the price goes down to $.01, I would buy and be the happiest man on Earth.
