901  Other / Meta / Re: best replies should appear first in a thread. on: September 27, 2023, 10:03:06 PM
And who or what decides which are the best replies? Because it's clearly neither the length nor the rank of the poster that could be added into the equation.
We cannot apply such a rule or feature that is very subjective. Some are not native English speaker, that may say less but is worth reading.
I don’t think the language thing do count much as, that would allow account for difficulty in expression or making a good point on a subject. In a way it could result in the post not being merited of which, the proposal of implemented would dish such posts and these could be of great concern to the user who had made the comment.

I hope that you don't expect somebody (moderator?) would read every post and give it some points/ranking, right?
That's a lot of work to do actually.
The traffic on the forum and volume of posts made on the forum is so high that, even Albert Einstein wouldn’t be able to meet up with that sort of work load. It would be so much to read and moderate. You would hate such job if given as it would take literally, life out of you!
Without any system for forum up on this, it ain’t worth implementing as it would undermine the quality of some posts which might be of value to others.

903  Other / Meta / Re: Do discussions always have to be serious? on: September 26, 2023, 11:56:46 PM
Come on buddy... sometimes we need a little humor to face difficult realities  Grin
You could as well see moderators having to deleting of your post as a part of the joke, the other end that complements it.

The forum has been designed to accommodate just anything and when something isn’t in its best place, you could expect a move or have it deleted.

On the whole, I think it depends on the type or should I say level of humor you brought in on your post. As much as you intend to divert attention, you’ve got to do that very lightly not to shadow the idea you’re replying to. It makes the jokes the focus or point of discussion and that would count for off topic and consequently, you could expect it to be deleted.

You could have a free hand in the off topic board with almost zero moderation.
904  Other / Meta / Re: best replies should appear first in a thread. on: September 26, 2023, 11:49:22 PM
Is merit an absolute determinant of what a quality post might have been or identifies best replies, let alone a thread?

I think not. Most of the things we work with here on the forum are subjective and time bound. You wouldn’t expect a reply made at 12noon just to be repasted at an earlier time let’s say, 9am just because it had merits on it while others didn’t and it’s perceived to be the best response.

If is boiled open your year a little I’ll say, merits attracts more merits and people tends to merit posts that already had merits on them. Also, users as well do follow up certain users posting style and merit based on discretion.

That doesn’t make the posts any better from the rest.
It’s just normal to scan a thread by reading through in such for response of interest and when satisfied, you’ll be good to go unto the next.
905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: September 26, 2023, 11:32:55 PM
Imagine someone you know telling you that it will take him 12 years to pay off his debt,
12 years! That’s a lot of debts and come on, how do some gamblers really get it this far and still continue… oh! Don’t tell me. The singular idea that they would win and get to repay most of the debts incurred through gambling from gambling.

It’s often sad when some reckless gamblers don’t realize how they got there in the first place. July thinking of many possibilities and they ended up accumulating more debts. Well, some of those debts could turn out to be bad debts.

Which makes me think that Credit card is far more helping to fuel gambling addiction more than anything else, you don't actually have the money, but you can still gamble, this alone will make people to lose their minds and gamble anyhow.

you should stay away from using Credit card to gamble online, it sure would easily throw you out in the street, homeless.
You’re not supposed to gamble when you don’t have money to fulfill this desire. People ought to realize that, gambling from loans, credits, and from money your given for safe keeping or anything of that sort offers more risk than when you use your funds as, your pressured for a win and that could make you take more risk as per the wins and this could end badly.
906  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which games offer the best chance of a big win? on: September 26, 2023, 11:14:12 PM
Slots has a high house edge. (chance to lose is higher)
Crypto games aka classic games e.g. dice, keno, etc has a low house edge. (chance to lose is lower).
I was going yo ask like Oshosondy did on what are crypto games as, my thoughts puts me about just any game that the base of its stake is cryptos.
So I ask this instead, is that really a thing? (Crypto games AKA; Keno, Dice and what have you). Is that a collective name for games that fall on the category or it’s just a made up name.

Haven’t played dice, I think it’s one game with a probable course and as such, you could have several turns that could turn into wins but, the it’s often about you taking more risk and without any algorithm to support. You simply submit yourself to luck of which, your over or under settings plays a major role to how far you could come. I’ll go with dice but really, just any game could give you some good wins.
907  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: September 26, 2023, 11:02:52 PM
As you can see in the image above as well there are two matches for Luton and Burnley on September 30 and November 3.
I am only awaken to the situation just now and I must say, the price lies in Burnley but Burnley,,, that’s Kompany with some defensive strategy and can’t say the team has been doing great at there games but, Luton Town haven’t proven there better either. Would be looking into getting a player from either teams later but, didn’t really have my eyes on any player on both sides.

I was thinking of using Wildcard however I have decided to wait for now because the value of the players I want to transfer has increased. I hate making transfers in exchange for points. But I had to spend 4 points to remove Jackson from my squad.

It wouldn't be a surprise for me if he makes a hat-trick after his suspension. Cheesy

Well its only 4 points to remove him and we all know that Chelsea is in deep shit right now so isnt it actually a good decision to remove him unless you have other subs on the bench that could get decent points
Try telling that to Igebotz that, ‘Chelsea is in deep shit and see if he believes you’.
I don’t think 4 points is anything just in the FPL except in the case of a double game week where your sure to profit from your sacrifice of 4 points as you can easily cover up from 2 games. Again, if you used it to get a player like E. Haaland. Other than this, you just might not be hitting the mark.
908  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: chart reading and prediction on: September 24, 2023, 10:36:00 PM
everyone on twitter, insta reel and youtube is making prediction related to different cryptos based on chart lines. Do you still believe these chart reading?
Would you rather believe in your guts or expectations and just jump on a trade without having any logical explanation as to why?

The charts is what we’ve got. Getting to define those support level and resistance level to the candles, using your trend line and RSI to determine direction and strength of the persistent side in the market (bulls or bears). At least, it makes more sense than just jumping in and placing trades based on sentiments.

I don't understand how there are people who follow these analyzes without them learning/understanding it first.
Being able to deduct the codings in an analysis simply means you understand it. At least to some level but, the point should be, you having to be the one that comes up with the analysis.
Those that might just follow without understanding are traders and it could easily be an issue of the blind, leading the blind.
909  Other / Meta / Re: It may be a silly question on: September 24, 2023, 09:09:59 PM
Please take the time to look around the forum for answers before making a thread for each question you might have or at least put all your questions in 1 thread.

Your merit question has been answered.
I didn’t want to respond to this thread as I feel no further value could be added to what is already said but,

Your sense of politeness or approach to the behavior and thread is something worth noting or commending.
As a legendary, while most would just be direct in response to the matter, you took a rather gentle approach and seal the deal.

I hope the deal is sealed though and OP understands what needs to be done in other situations rather than creating threads for just a single line question.

Be curious and sort means to satisfy your curiosity but, don’t abuse privileges. In essence, be creative with your approach @OP.

Took -12 hits to have a dream team! What's stopping this team from 80 points this weekend?

I had to trip back to look at this again and now I think I have the answers,
Douglas Luiz, Marcus Rashford, J. Rashford and Raheem Sterling. They all did justice to your wet dreams 80 points, lol!

Shared in your faith with J. Alvarez and I can’t stop looking at Rodri with a bombastic side eye.

You know, I sort of took you up in what you said about Isak. Well, it was almost true that he was to catch the bench for the entire game but, since Sheffield United was sharing goals today, it was only right for the striker to come in and make one count for him. Some plus on the bench!

Speaking of which, A. Ramsdale did zero out on my team and so was my second choice goalkeeper yet, I’ve got Isak and Tarkowski on the bench with some good points. Do I expect either of them to count in place as it’s done with other positions on the team or the choices for goalkeepers are left with goalkeepers. I really do need that 14 points for catch ups.
911  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Elon Musk keep what he said or not? on: September 24, 2023, 08:24:34 PM
But now, because of this article from 5 days ago, over 50% of the energy used for Bitcoin mining now comes from renewable sources. Because Elon Musk mentioned in 2021 that they will only accept bitcoin for payment again "once miners were using roughly 50% energy sources" with a positive future trend.

That said, Bloomberg analyst Jamie Coutts, CMT,
I wonder why this article to have been published just 5days ago from thread creation to have been so when, we are expecting a halving in months.
What could have been the plan? If any.

Well, I think anyone in the cryptospace wouldn’t look towards what Elon Musk has yo say or not. He might be the world’s richest man for his ideas and choices of investments but, having to follow him up on every shit he flushed down the toilet isn’t what any wise person would be doing after his scandal at the time.

He’s a business man and as such, you could expect him to create wealth using whatever means, even as statements and truths be told, he could as well withdraw his statements and nothing would change for him.

Don’t be hinged on that and have no expectations from Musk.
912  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: September 24, 2023, 05:27:36 PM
There are a lot of people who are waiting for the Bitcoin halving next year, so it would be very reasonable to expect a price drop if there is an intention from many people to buy more Bitcoin.
How is that any reasonable expectation on…
That an expectation of a halving to account for a price drop? The opposite is usually the case and what should be expected. Halving counts towards reduction of block reward to miners, Bitcoin investors tend to hoard at this time by hodling on wallets in airgapped device and many other means to hodling, hodling leads to scarcity and scarcity leads to buy pressure on bitcoin. That becomes relative to altcoins as well so,
How should we expect a price drop again…?

Quote
But personally, I just don't want to see more price drops in Bitcoin because some people only talk about wanting to buy more Bitcoin when the price drops, but in reality there are still people who are afraid to buy when they see another price drop in Bitcoin. But if it's only a drop of $25K, that's still pretty good because it's not too different from the current price.
Yeah. The idea would be a price drop to open up a buying opportunity but people always anticipate for further dumps and tends to wait but what happens, price pushes back up and in there continued anticipation on further dumps, they miss what they had been waiting on.
That’s why, yo DCA when you have the funds to invest is always a more acceptable option.
913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My first knowledge in Bitcoin/Bitcointalk on: September 24, 2023, 05:12:30 PM
So if I make any mistake in any of my writing, please correct me. I am open to correction.

It’s Bitcoin not bitcion same goes for Bitcointalk not Bitciontalk.
These are mere misconceptions and typographical errors. In terms of corrections such as the first case involving Bitcoin with an upper case ‘B’ and that of bitcoin with a lower case ‘b’, pointing out the difference would do more clarification to what’s wrong with it and in turn, bring about the consciousness for OP and users when they come across or what to say the word than just laying it out there.

It’s a common mistake and even I could make such mistakes but, if I would like to say something to OP on typos, I’ll say, you should do a run down on your composure after writing and you might see a few things to correct.

when someone send bitcion to a recipient, a minor must mine the cions in the blockchain before the recipient will receive the coin.
A little something here. Miners don’t get to mine already mined bitcoins. Like, just how does that happens or sounds to you. Like these coins are already in circulation and what happens yo initiated transactions is a confirmation on them into the blockchain. No further mining is required.
914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: September 24, 2023, 04:52:20 PM
I wanted to go for Son, but my friend who really follows football and knows what he's talking about told me that he thinks Rashford will be in top 3 league's goalscorers.
Therefore I chose him instead of Son - but to be honest neither one of them is worth 9 points. The problem is that Son at least got the price upgrade, while Rashford went the other way.
Rashford only found his way into my team because of the health challenge on Bowen. Saw that he was will and Rashford felt like the next best option but, I was surprised Bowen actually featured for the West Ham United game and even got more points than i can say for Rashford.
Son was on the list of options but, mixed feelings and price difference didn’t let me make the pick.

Nobody rates Rashford except the English media. I remember him scoring 30 goals last season and the media comparing him to Mbappe, and then he started ghosting in games for months.
One word on the ratings, ‘England’. Like I can’t even imagine how they would come to that comparison. On how one man can and that’s Mbappe could carry a whole country (France and PSG) and the weight doesn’t seem too weighty for him and you compare that individual with Rashford!

Rashford's selfish behaviour in the 18 yard box makes it difficult for him to have a clear chance for goal, always trying to run in-between tight spaces instead of playing with his teammates. I'm keeping close tap on him.
I don’t blame him for that, he’s been top dog for his team through last season and it’s only natural to have him have much expectations on himself, trying to repeat the same thing this season but, at the expense of his team not making there chances count.
915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Satoshi have known? on: September 23, 2023, 11:28:51 PM
Maybe we are wrong to think that Satoshi never had the thought that bitcoin was going to become very volatile and people were going to be able to make money from how the  price of bitcoins changes easily. Satoshi is someone that has insight and was able to make this system that has been able to survive and is doing well after a long time of creation, do you think that it never occurred to him that people may start investing in bitcoins instead of really using it for buying and selling?
To infer into what Satoshi Nakamoto is thinking or could have thought at the genesis age of bitcoin would be to ask the shapeless or formless figure.
You’ve already said it yourself, Satoshi Nakamoto had a long insight and the bitcoin innovation and all that is happening now could have been considered. I mean, economics and statistics has been around and having to create a limited 21million bitcoin for a world population without putting a price mark on it,,,
Satoshi Nakamoto has got to understand that the innovation would choose the way it would go until it attains some worth price that could serve a world population and even then, the volatile nature, the fluctuation in its price would not be totally vanquished.

Investors might do as they please but, this isn’t any disappointment and people are out there using bitcoin as they please.
916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gives the poor an Opportunity. on: September 23, 2023, 11:18:53 PM
Opportunity to earn? Yes, but it has limitations. With Bitcoin as an investment, obviously you’ll need money to earn by holding and waiting for its market price to increase. Indeed there are ways to earn from this industry in particular with services or projects but there are also limitations in particular with requirements to participate. Maybe if it was 4 years ago, there were so many options and requirements weren’t that hard to comply. I remember the first projects I have worked and participated with which really have helped me to make a start in this industry.
Opportunity to earn are everywhere and you remain qualified when you’ve got a skill set to offer. Bitcoin just veined an addition to the lots of varieties that exists in our world. Even writing in itself is a skill and that some of the most exploited on the forum, writing!

For one to be able to make some good profit from bitcoin, you must have either the finance to invest by buying and hodling for a long term which is something most of the people we regard as poor (practically those who feed from hand to mouth if you know what I mean; having to live day to day) can’t do.
Just how do they get that spare cash to invest when that’s fund to feed with for the day!

When you have a skill set of value and could be hired for it, then that’s a different story. Even then, you need other resources like technology to meet up the ends.
It’s not a complete haven that doesn’t asks nothing of you, you’ve got to have some level of resource and what to offer.
917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What was the idea behind the creation of Bitcoin? on: September 23, 2023, 11:08:44 PM
I don't think people are still don't understand what is Bitcoin and the use cases, after all you're keep repeating a common discussion over and over.
At the level of you ‘not having to think’, the statement is indeed valid but then, maybe you, I and the host of other experienced forum users that shares this space don’t care much about this piece of information but, with the number of users that registers in the forum everyday, the info could prove useful to them and it obviously opens the thread up to new replies as not very often are old threads being bumped for update.

We’ve been seeing threads like this and we just might have to be accustomed to seeing some more because, it ain’t stopping soon. You can always expect users to act their level of understanding as to what is perceived to be necessary or not.

Quote
32 posts you posted in this forum are consist of 22 threads and 10 replies, there's no one force you to keep creating a new thread.
This part to your comment got me diving into OP’s post history to see what’s been going on and his got some good threads to show for it. Like the one that talks about Airgapping an old desktop device. His merit to post ratio don’t make him exactly a bad poster and you aren’t saying that either but, I’ll understand with you on OP having to reduce the way he or she creates thread and try searching out informations on the forum as well.
918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Earnings on: September 23, 2023, 10:53:07 PM
I am a newbie in bitcoin I want to learn a lot about bitcoin I want to do marketing and trading with bitcoin if any of you are expert or if someone is more skilled please give me some suggestion so that I can do something good and my future is good.  can shine through bitcoin and i can stay away from casino and gambling games and without these two means i can earn money in my life and i can work hard to earn bitcoin everyone.
Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies don’t assure you of a future, your skills and how you apply them is what gives you that assurance. It’s a good thing you wish to learn with hopes of earning from cryptocurrency and I’ll urge you to stay the path, acquiring as much knowledge as you can and develop schemes that would aid you in archiving your goal.

Know that bitcoin is a currency and not entirely an investment although, it’s volatile nature is one that provides its hodlers with some profit for hodling over time, it is in itself a currency still.

I would also like to advise that you keep off trading in your early days and interactions with the cryptospace. It’s a highly sophisticated space that doesn’t recognize beginners and have a very unfriendly environment.
Instead of trading at the moment or seeking that for a goal, be focused on learning about bitcoin and its technology, how it operates, what moves it, how to analyze its market conditions and how you could use it safely and securely.

When your grounded in these, then you could move on to practicing trading and be ready for some disappointments before the wins.
919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: September 23, 2023, 09:32:01 PM
Liverpool has been the bone of contention on this thread as they stand to be the favorite for almost everyone, but then let's not forget that Liverpool is also participating in the premier league and the Europa at same time although they failed to qualify for the UCL they are still hopeful they will next season.participating in this two leagues could be tasking at some point.
As far as we would like to look at the EPL as one (if not) the toughest league on the planet, I would like to add that it is so because of the type of teams that is present in the league of which, Liverpool is by far one of the very best. Now, coming to Europa which happens to be what they’ve got for now in the absence of the UCL, it’s only natural that we have a lot of expectations on them.

I expect of them to have easy games and easy wins in this Europa but, no. What we see is a struggling Liverpool, even with the top coach and world class players.
Put Manchester City in same situation and you would see a second 11 coming on the pitch yo make a huge difference. We aren’t placing expectations that is more than Liverpool can handle on them, we are simply asking them to show there worth and quality.

"Perfect" FPL day, everybody brings in Alvarez he gets one pointer. Now it is time for Jackson to haul. My transfers Edouard, Botman and Mbuemo also look like total miss. Botman is probably even injured and that also means Chilwell will haul tomorrow.
He’s been on my team for a while now but, it’s really disappoint what how Rodri got to mess the whole game plan up today. I was already expecting an over 4.5 goals in this game judging from the way it started, with Foden and the early goal, E. Haaland did good to extend the lead and Nottingham Forest playing like scared little girls but, just seconds into the second half, Rodri thought it was wise to over react and caught a straight red! Like, it was an out of the blue reaction and just like that, the whole game was messed up, Manchester City came under pressure, Pep had to sort for a more defensive approach and there was my dear Alvarez having yo pay the price on the bench.
Rodri did this one today!

hope to see Botman on the bench tomorrow
have Jensen and Tarkowski on my bench, and hope to see two players from my line-up on bench, Botman is first pick, Gusto second pick
I so much don’t wish to see Lamptey on the pitch for Brighton tomorrow. Just how did I get to get Tarkowski off the pitch to the bench and brought Lamptey in at the least minute! Like, how am I doing this to 11 points that could have easily gone to the bag.
Lamptey better does something more or close tomorrow or better still, catches the bench and zero out.
