Maybe maybe not. Depends on if someone is doing it for fun or trying to make a profit off it.

it's more about another option for a client, maybe give someone an idea on how to improve current clients.
You could use your argument against the people running 2 6990's vs the people running 4 boxes+ of 4 6990's.
That isn't stopping people from doing 2 5830's either. See what I'm saying?
Moar options are always good and maybe it won't even be useless Tongue

No thats wrong,
If you are significant too slow it makes no Sense, that should but clear.
If it is fun to Waste Energy, Money, Calculating Time - ok that must be a rare fetish ;-)

If you are in the midfield with your hashrate (average) it is Ok,
More Speed is better but not nessessary to make Profit.
Logically the More Speed the more you get (but the Card is also more expensive...)

So my guideline is the Mhash per Watt Ratio.
My Advice 2 or more Mhash per Watt.
905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Odd Mining and OCing Problems on: June 23, 2011, 10:29:37 AM
Ok, than i dont know - it
just can be fine adjusted by trying diefferen parameters,
and then try different Clock speeds i tryied it the same in 15Mhz step up which is not to big and not to smal.
Later you can superfineadjust in 3Mhz Steps.

These two things, there are no more things you can do.

For the Noise, of the 78% Fan
i made a trick,
i reduced Fanspeed of the Card to 60-70% and added a 120MM Silent Fan which sucks (not blow)
the hot Air away from the Card. So the overalnoise is less because ea 120mm Fan is more effective than
the built in Fan.
906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hardware mining question ATI on: June 23, 2011, 02:53:35 AM
It is not worth for mining because it is to slow.
Just sell your Card/s on Ebay and buy a better card you could afford like 4xxx or 5xxx :-)
Dont try to race with your Shopping-Cart against an Army of tuned Ferrari's ;-)
907  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Odd Mining and OCing Problems on: June 23, 2011, 02:48:47 AM
What is your coreclock?

Waht is the temperature and fan speed in Percent?

I could give tipps for GUIminer because it doesnt work for me.
But do you installed the Standart Pakage?
-newest graphic driver,
-ATI SDK 2.4
-OpenCL

Notice when you overclock and restat windows sometools resett to factory default.
908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it OK to join a pyramid scheme if you're in early? on: June 23, 2011, 02:41:21 AM
In the US, at least, pyramid schemes are generally illegal whether everyone knows it or not.  Whether a charge would have any traction with BTC, I dunno...but people have been charged under postal laws, wire fraud and tax evasion for the old "send $1 to the first 5 people on this list and..." schemes.
Again, the US Government trying to protect people from their own stupidity.

If people are stupid, let them be stupid and suffer the consequences.  Then maybe they'll learn something and no longer be stupid.

Wait - that reason is not the only one!
They want to protect their own fiat money pyramid system!

wich collapse every 70-80 years.. that that a Human Lifespan so the most dont recognice the pyramid charcteristics....
909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Low rewards from Slush's mining pool? on: June 23, 2011, 02:34:32 AM
It's to do with their score based system.

Try a proportional pool like https://mineco.in

Could you explain? Exactly why is their score based system so unfair? If my results are lower than expected then I'm assuming someone else's results are higher than expected..  how can a biased pool like that exist?  Huh

It isnt unfair or biased, it mostly depends on your hashrate.

So if your hashrate is lower than the Pool average you get IN SOME POOLS less then you expect.
So it is usefull to try several pools for the best performance.
It is the same taks like you try the best parameters for your miner or the best OC Rate of your GPU,
Trial and Error :-)

Try each pool for exact 24h and notice your payout (total Bitcoins includet the "unconfirmed")
So you will find the best.
I do so tomorrow, i will try deepbits it is better for me.
910  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Once the Exchange opens...What are you going to do? on: June 23, 2011, 02:20:28 AM
SELL! SELL! SELL! BUY! BUY! BUY!

Option1: switch the order
Option2: if the price is too low good bye ;-)
Option3: make a Stoploss @ 16,5$ , plus an pending ordner buy at 5$
Option3B: for insurace make a pending order sell at 1$ when finbonacci indicator is in position and the Pivot point indicates that action is needed xD

LOL nice finance nerd speak, i noticed that some forex users play Bitcoins xD
911  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: June 23, 2011, 01:58:22 AM
298,5Mhash = Ati Asus 6870 OC on 999Mhz (fan is on 60%, because i use a 120mm 10db Silent Fans as support which are more effective)

System needs only 234 Watts overall
912  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why all the bitcoin haters? on: June 23, 2011, 01:42:24 AM
I don't see anyone actually tackling the problems that bitcoin is having.

What exactly are some of those problems?

1. User friendliness. (which is a *very* large topic, ranging from the banking system to the security built-in in the client). Just one random example: when you are on a website, how do you guarantee that the bitcoin address is valid and redirecting well to your seller? Answer, you don't know.

Nobody seems to work on it.

2. Real market.

Nobody seems to work on it. Every single bitcoin webshop looks like it was designed in 1997 and tested on Netscape 3. Not to mention the fact that there's very few things to buy and that the process is really complicated, you have to understand a lot of things (including escrow) but this goes back to point 1. Well, let be honnes

3. Professionnal look

Between a "Bitcoin show" where you can see people trying to launch skype for 48 minutes or interviewer saying ah… hum… ah… with a non-fonctionnal microphone to anarchists who advertize well that they use drugs and are proud of it, it is difficult to make something look less serious than that. ( http://thebitcoinsun.com/post/2011/05/28/Welcome-To-The-Bitcoin-Community ;-) )

The weusecoins.com was a very good try to tackle that problem.

So, basically, people are very enthusiast because bitcoin *might* be the foundation of something very big. A lot of early bitcoiners are euphoric because of the quick money they did.

But most of us are just uneducated, unexperienced new rich. The MtGox story is just one more example.

We forgot that foundations are not enough. If you don't have the wall, the roof, the window and a shiny layer of paint, nobody want your house.

We are now at one of the many turning point. Either nobody really invest in Bitcoin and it will die, either someone decide that it worths investing 1 million of $ in this and hire professionnals. He build a complete banking protocol on top of bitcoin, built a network of market maker to stabilize the price and build trust with the traditionnal online merchant, offering for example an API which allow them to accept bitcoin but converting them instantly, at a known rate, to dollars or euros.

If I had 1 million of dollars,  I would do that. This is much needed. Just to give you an idea: I'm a professionnal web hosting maintainer. And I decided to not host any bitcoin related service long ago because, as a professionnal, I knew I was not good enough in security for such critical services. It looks like I was right but that nobody else was. I'm also an usability engineer and I can say that bitcoin is doing *everything* as wrong as it can be in that aspect.

If you have 1 million of dollars to invest in a bitcoin startup that would foster definitely bitcoin, contact me. If not, like me, wait for someone to tackle the problem.

We need walls, we need roof, we need shiny paint.

Very good explanation.
I also think that there are big Problems to solve.
Bitcoin was Designed as anonymous "money", but is now more like an Prepaid Creditcard,
easy to steal with the security number inculsive ;-)

I think it could be changed if the community
spends some Tenthousand Dollars (like an Kickstarter project)
To improve, Security, and usability and maybe to Start Selling things and so on.
every Bitcoin user would spend because this would make BC more worth....

With around 100Mhash/s, I'm getting about .09 BTC/day at BTCmine, so it should be a good option for you as well.

and how much is your Profit if you subract the Energycosts?

i get 1 Btc in 3 Days with 300 Mhash, 0,25BTc is for the Energy
so in germany 100Mhash is = Energycosts (+ or Minus(!) 0,50eur "Profit")

100% profit because I don't pay for the energy costs. Smiley

That is cheating, :-)
does your Dad pay?
how much costs 1Kilowatt/ hour?
914  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Bitcoin Porno on: June 23, 2011, 01:13:26 AM

Hello,
i have about 300Mhash and get 0,36 BTC per Day at Slush pool
before i was on Bitclockers where i got 0,16BTC per Day.

I you have a such low income, switch imiatly and dont wait 10 Days :-)

Try out the bigger ones first:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools

after 24H switch so you can compare each pool.
tryout 2 or 3 others and them choose the best.
(slushs and bitclockers are not good for your hashrate)
