902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats up with LTC? on: July 05, 2014, 08:09:21 AM
Either price is crashing or people are not supporting it
Litecoin past has similar problems but it has always come back still largest by far
207 million to NXT at 57 million but changes happen.
903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting a Person on a Block Chain on: July 05, 2014, 08:04:29 AM
Not quite sure the blockchain would be the funnest place to have your mind trapped in
Maybe a MMORPG playing a game forever or three dimesnional reality but Jepoardy bot is the closet we have (Watson) in AI
But if a robot passes the Turing test then it can be seen as intelligent.
904  Other / Meta / Re: Question about signature campaigns (definition of a constructive post) on: July 05, 2014, 07:56:56 AM
As long as the post contributes to the discussion
Does not get to far off the topic and people agree or comment on it positively since it contributes to a discussion then it is constructive.
905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happening with DOGE? on: July 05, 2014, 07:49:26 AM
Doge has good community but I think days of doge are over as its also  happening with many other altcoins.

It will only be over when the community will have went away. As of now, there are still thousands of active users in /r/dogecoin, and they show no sign of willing to go away soon.

Maybe they can survive its a battle of endurance and education
Hopefully Doge doesn't have cancer but if it does then it needs to beat it and we are in for rougher times now but maybe not later.
To the moon much wow much win
906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: July 05, 2014, 07:47:13 AM
I think in the long, long run Amazon may have some type of a payment system in the works. It may seemed far fetched now but eventually their market share is going to plateau and Ebay may be the final frontier. I could even see an acquisition...again in the far distant future.
They will likely eventually sell items that they sell directly for bitcoin. I would doubt that anything sold via 3rd parties on the amazon website will sell for bitcoin, or if they do that the merchant would be able to get paid in bitcoin.

Well Amazon will need to worry about outmoding from other groups developing Bitcoin and stores that may emerge from it's own ecosystem
Bitcoin also has good retailers like overstock that use it now so it's likely something they will seriously consider or they can risk that they may be left a bit behind or give way for something strong to appear.
907  Local / India / Re: How can bitcoin penetrate rural India? on: July 05, 2014, 07:37:36 AM
Today I met with a head of a Organic farming co-operative initiative in Tamil Nadu and was trying to see how bitcoins can fit into the picture.

I was focused on two things
1. To encourage distribution of bitcoins
2. To encourage people transact with bitcoins

So I asked them if they could issue a very small portion of the profit (say 0.5%) as bitcoins?
They were willing to experiment.

As I was discussing how money can easily be transferred across wallets. The fundamental question was
1. Most of the people in villages do not have access to internet or smart phones. So how are these people going to hold or transact in bitcoins?

So are bitcoins only for literates with a understanding of technology and who hold sophisticated gadgets ?

Maybe an idea like 37coins coins as johba pointed out would work best
It can be stored on dumb phone people incentivized to use it with commissions
https://www.37coins.com/

Just one idea though paper wallets would be nice as well but mobile phones seems most logical.

Thats my issue. I don't see how Bitcoin helps the farmers as opposed to Gandhi cash?

It has utility I think
http://bitcoinfilm.org/documentaries/ in Uganda one for Argentina and farmers as well
908  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: July 05, 2014, 07:35:27 AM
Isn't the 80/20 split done after the power is paid for? That way it is the profit you are splitting. It doesn't make sense otherwise.

Hell, no.

If the split happens after power is paid for, cryptx would be on this in an instant.

As long as all the hashpower gets sold or deployed, it is in AM's interests to restrict the franchise program to those with cheap electricity.

Now, the thing I don't understand is - if AM is able to ship real miners (not just chips) to franchisees, surely they should have fully deployed in their immersion cooling facility by now?

AM does not have enough and cheap electrical power to deploy all devices.

Think they are working on more options why containers exist and are being developed
The chips are for now I guess to save them hassles of doing both
909  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gas supply cut-off deadline of $1.95 billion by 06:00 GMT on Monday. on: July 05, 2014, 07:33:30 AM
Ukrainian Ministry of Finance found 8 alternatives to Russian gas, including biodiesel and synthetic gas.
Another alternative is building an LNG, where Ukraine will receive gas at a market price of $380, though the question of who will deliver the gas is not decided (reminding that Russia, after mediating from EU, was offering a price of $385)

http://www.bfm.ru/news/263973

They still need to pay that debt back one way or another
Perhaps with Crimea lol....
Then again Ukraine says let there be war!

Daily mail is funny sometimes
UKRAINIAN ASTRONOMERS NAME STAR 'PUTIN IS A D***HEAD'

Ukrainian astronomers have named a star 'Putin is a D**khead' in a jibe aimed at the hated Russian president.

The star was adopted and named through the Pale Blue Dot Project, which allows anyone to adopt and name a star for just $10, with the money going to fund the hunt for Earth-like planets.

The co-ordinates of star which is officially named 'Putin Huilo' are: Celestial Star: right Ascension: 18 h 59 m 47.09 s Slope: 46 * 26 '44', 'magnitude: 11.

The term Putin Huilo is belived to have been coined by football fans and was widely chanted at matches, before being picked up by rock bands and becoming a popular internet meme.

It was widely shouted during the Maidan protest in Kiev which resulted in the ousting of President Yanukovych and his government

910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you USE your BTC? on: July 05, 2014, 07:30:55 AM
My job  boss is paying for servers with BTC every month. He payed before with paypall, but paypal banned his account after 8 years for no apparent reason (nothing changed since 8 years).

Paypal is an evil company for doing those things to people
Heard many many many similar stories about people having their accounts shut down for no reason.
Glad he uses Bitcoin now
911  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] PETAMINE - 1,150 TH/S HASH RATE (15GH/S per Unit) on: July 05, 2014, 07:26:05 AM
If I understand correctly the debt is added as part of new shares
So diluting the share price in theory
Convert the outstanding loan of 342.9 BTC to 4,650 PetaMine units (or 0.0735 BTC/unit) which brings the total outstanding units to 82,142.
But offset then by the share strucuture change to 100%
Change the dividend payout to 100%. This gives the opportunity for everyone to choose their own reďnvestment level by purchasing additional units with their dividend
Then do a stock split not a reverse split of 14:1 (Reverse is when 1000 shares become 100)
Do a reverse stock split were each unit will be replaced by 14 shares, so 1 unit represents 1 GH/s of hashing power.
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/reversesplit.asp
If a company has 200 million shares outstanding and the shares are trading at 20 cents each, a 1-for-10 reverse split would reduce the number of shares to 20 million, while the shares should trade at about $2. Note that the company’s market capitalization pre-split and post-split should – theoretically at least – be unchanged at $40 million.
And daily dividend like Basic-Mining
Pay dividends every day at 12:00 GMT.

Exchange no more hashing power price drops
But many factors involved here price dillutes then dividends pay more price up but shares increase as well decrease price tricky to tell what happens.

917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: June 29, 2014, 12:05:10 AM
Amazon will never consider btc as they have their own payment services

Bet on it then I dare you.
They would likely be able to increase profits by accepting bitcoin by a greater amount then what their payment service will potentially generate.

He meant make a betmoose bet and put your money where your mouths are ^_^
918  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] PETAMINE - 1,150 TH/S HASH RATE (15GH/S per Unit) on: June 29, 2014, 12:01:59 AM
im pretty sure the drop is coming from people who are aware of the imminent BTC valuation boom, its happening consistently across all stocks on havelock.

i would not touch PETA until its at 0.001BTC/share, that puts 15GH at 10$, consistent with cost of GH in august, 1.5TH for 1000$

yes bitcoin is going to 10000$ if not more depending how the population of earth reacts this time around. (to the media boom that comes with value boom)

Perhaps its probally also partially related to how much they owe still in BTC
With the difficulty steadfastly rising the debt portion that needs to be paid off is still larger when the amount of BTC generated by the investment is decreasing.
Simply put not much for reinvestment yet.
919  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: June 28, 2014, 11:58:38 PM
Shouldn't someone mark him with negative trust for not monitoring his campaign and paying out properly?
Most people will remember the name but for new users it might be helpful.

Well the default trust list should start looking at this campaign soon
They are likely waiting a few more days on this just in case he appears at the beginning of july
920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My bitcoin wallet is broke on: June 22, 2014, 06:46:54 AM

I have balance

In that case would recommend asking etotheipi the answer to this question
Don't want to make a mistake for you so best be careful
Can send him a message here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=31239

Goatpig is an armory dev as well he could help
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=7811

(One more idea though)
You can rerun the installer and choose "Repair Installation".
If it finds the problem it should fix it. (Unless your virus scanner destroyed it)

Or ask in this discussion thread from someone who knows more about it they may be able to help
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=56424.3840

Sorry I wasn't very helpful on this.

Edit: I did see that the bug says WERInternalMetadata.xml not sure what this does but maybe this is the problem
