901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tips for fast investment growth on: December 24, 2023, 06:19:16 AM
I think what you need is a paraphrase of this post because it's quite obvious that you're flashing on buying cheap coins now and waiting till they grow. or go to the market and look at listed cheap coins with speculation of growth and gamble with your money. Hence, it's a matter of whether you profit or lose, because surely you are getting involved with shit.

Even if one looks at the white paper of a token or coin, it doesn't change anything; rather, it gives you a little hope because there are millions of pump-and-dump shitcoins that have a very good and promising white paper yet still crash and fail to raise again.

Obviously, AmoreJaz gave a better tip for investment here, but it holds the same thing as I said earlier: gambling rather than investment because no future is guaranteed.
902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA LIFT THE BAN ON CRYPTOCURRENCY IN NIGERIA on: December 23, 2023, 10:45:09 PM

It's good news that the ban has been lifted, but there is more to that than just a lift. Though this is a new government and crypto-related transactions were banned by the old government, I think the new government might see an opportunity in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large.

We are yet to know the real reason behind this decision; hopefully it doesn't get bad because it's just a mere statement that can be altered in no time.
I see people saying things about taxation, but I'm not worried about it because Bitcoin can be used with or without anybody's permission, so there is a way out of the taxation that they are anticipating.
903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one did you use to gamble with more on: December 23, 2023, 10:16:13 PM
I do gamble on three categories, but I still prefer to stake before the match starts because some time gives higher odds, while sometimes it gets higher when started already.

If I am betting on a match that seems to be between a high-profile club and a low-profile club, I just bet my stake before it states it and free my mind from the gamble. Most people prefer live matches, but I don't really do that much, and the part where I don't really partake in is virtual gambling; I have nothing to do with that.
904  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk vs. YouTube from an educational viewpoint on: December 23, 2023, 09:46:11 PM
Firstly, I will congratulate your efforts in putting down something to look creative though it's not creative enough as the nail point was set aside and kept beating around the bush.

Additionally, my point of view is quite different from what you have said about YouTube.
Let me buttress, Everything has its own purpose, YouTube, GitHub and Bitcointalk has different purposes and all serves it's purpose very well.
YouTube Is a visual educational ground that teaches alot of things including Bitcoin knowledge in diverse ways, it could be the positive or negative information in all depends on the seeker to focus on the information which he/she wants. YouTube is as important as the compared places to learn about Bitcoin because there are lot of people who don't understand much reading but learn faster when watching videos, that's where YouTube comes in to help.

GitHub Is more like a library where you can read to master Bitcoin. It serves it's own purpose just as YouTube too.

Bitcointalk Is a forum, or a global group conversation that Bitcoin fans communication what there might have learnt from both youtube and GitHub.

Hope I have made something clear a little bit....
905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A piece of advise to everyone. on: December 23, 2023, 02:55:49 PM
When two or more people want to show they're right, it's okay for them to have discussions, even if they start with disagreements. This happens a lot in a forum, which is like a place where many people with different ideas come together. It's good to see people sharing their thoughts.
Disagreeing to agree is always the best in any discussion but where this individuals deviates from discussion to reputation maintenance is what amazes me e.g Where Mr. A is saying I'm a professor so you can't correct me because I have 10 degrees and Mr. B is saying education does not matter here I have experience, I have worked for so so years so you can't correct me here. It's just so disappointing... To make matter worst it's L members that engage most this arguments.
906  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Give respect to your teachers and parents on: December 23, 2023, 02:39:26 PM
Surely give respect to whom respect is due that has been the old rule that abide with, PARENTS and TEACHERS should be accorded the respect due for for them. mostly this two categories of people has the life of children whether the child would be good or bad it depends on the actions of this set of people so I respect them so much.
Though this days evolution has changed alot of things making parents lack the proper training that are supposed to be imposed on their children leaving the whole issues for teachers to sort forgetting that the teachers too has their own children to take care of.

Looking the case of time you spoke about I think time has nothing to do with respecting teachers and parents.

Dude. Stop the clowning around. None of you respect any of your teachers. Schools are filled with violence. Universities promote violence. I was a professor, so I know. Universities refuse to apologize for promoting violence against me. Until they do this, I will assume that all students are always incredibly disrespectful 100 percent of the time and that they only want to promote violence against me.

-Joseph Van Name Ph.D.
With due respect sir, were you a student before you became a professor? if yes then. I think my statement has ended because you must have understood what I meant by now....
907  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the us dollar might crash significantly on: December 23, 2023, 02:08:30 PM
If this could be done to Russia another high profile country then smaller economy countries will be afraid hence surely find away to move there reserves else where because the effect of the action of Joe Biden can turn to other countries.

Since the world power can seize such an amount (assets) from Russia in the name of helping Ukraine it will surely get to other countries too so they will just have to move away the US dollar and Euros that might end up crashing the currencies as you said earlier.

I don't even see Joe Biden's action to be a way of disrupting the war rather I think is just for a selfish reason that has to do with the US itself.

Though Russia has been doing more harms than God to other smaller force countries from history but I don't see this to be a punishment to Russia. There are other ways to handle such cases.
908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is the #1 crypto currency in the world if it's slow and expensive? on: December 23, 2023, 01:22:35 PM
Bitcoin is first cryptocurrencies that is very much decentralized, bitcoin has been there ever since and because of the creators anonymity makes it more secured from law attacks, since his identity has not been revealed the central authorities has no evidence of suing it unlike Ripple that the SEC has succeed to bring down because of its centralization.
If Bitcoin was centralized it would have faced much challenges like Ripple, and might have falling now.

The answer to your question is simple, just like I have said before Bitcoin is more like the origin. every other cryptocurrencies was introduced because Bitcoin has been created considering the success it has achieved, shitcoins came into existence trying to fit in as Bitcoin too but must where for selfish reasons.
Bitcoin might be slow now but it's just a temporary issues that will be over soon from view but still going to keep on being the most expensive.
909  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ‘MS Drainer’ scammers used Google Ads to swipe $59M in crypto: Report on: December 23, 2023, 01:27:09 AM
Do no click on ads, especially Google ads. But people will not listen.
If you want to allow scammers and hackers to locate you to scam you or drain your wallet, continue to click on ads.
The problem is not that they stubborn most of this people who have been off their crypto assets are ignorant of this ads and how they might have gotten into it without knowing.
They usually click on ads especially when it's the first link to pop up when browsing, some times scam sites that are clone to look like the original sites seems to be the first to give result of search's hence making ignorant people go into it and by so inputting your wallet details to a scam site.

Google do not care about anybody than to make money from ads.
I feel like it's not even googles fault for this phishing site to scam people, google could not be aware of the activities of this sites. maybe the must have inspected an ad but found no threats at that point because scammers/hackers are always very smart after the inspection they can just go back and do there activities having being verified by Google for scam free ads. this what I feel might have been happening with Google ads.
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do people make money with this web3 on: December 23, 2023, 12:52:12 AM

911  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is merit necessary for my survival here on: December 22, 2023, 10:22:12 PM
First merit doesn't secure your account, the forum is a free conversational ground for everyone but due to spamming (posts that do not make sense) the merit system was introduced to stop people from posting anyhow, for you to earn merit you have to make good post.

You might not understand what we very body here will be saying as you are new here, so you should go and read the following threads, and try to understand them before you keep posting.

If you succeed in reading the three above you will eventually enjoy your stay in the forum and the merit your friend told you about will not longer be your problem.

Goodluck reading them....
912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another year is going to end. Bitcoin isn't dead on: December 22, 2023, 09:21:59 PM
One thing I know is that whenever people try to kill a particular thing it ends up being the reason for the raise, it could even be that the "Bitcoin is dead" has brought more adoption to Bitcoin because since it fall to works planned people must have looked at it critically, the said subject isn't dead as speculated that means its what investing on or venturing into speaking from my empathetic understand.

Bitcoin is never same as this Altcoins so the death of Bitcoin can't be speculated, if Bitcoin wasn't this decentralized or was an alternative coin, then the Bitcoin is dead concept would have gotten strong.
I will not still be surprised if it raises again after the halving, when it starts dumping again.
913  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If bitcoin is not decentralized currency what would have happen to bitcoin on: December 22, 2023, 08:49:04 PM
One thing dey certain say if you try know everything wey dey happen Dem fit kill you. for this naija eeh no be say our government dey against Bitcoin oh but na because say them just be representative of an external government na why you see say them dey follow do small things against Bitcoin. for other countries wey know the power behind Bitcoin them dey fight am weytin no nice, like them no want any thing wey get to do with equalizing force to exist.

na true say na because of Satoshi anonymity naim make them never fall bitcoin, if to say the guy show face him for Dom die or dey life imprisoned.
The criminal activities wey dey happen around bitcoin or cryptocurrencies at large fit still be this government their plan or Dem get group of hackers wey dey do am for them to give solid reason for them to push bitcoin away.

I get many theories about this case of Bitcoin and the world power and I go settle down write am out make everybody read one day.
Anyways I just pray make Satoshi no still show face till eternity because eh the charge him go face go too much for nothing.
914  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Inflation rate and Bitcoin. on: December 22, 2023, 08:26:57 PM
Haven read through the content of your post, I would say you have made a good point in some areas I must say it's a very good one but the country isn't what we are really seeing to be. we now know our problem but the root is still very strong that inflation can not be beating so fast.

Even from the concept of Nigeria it was just a business or should I call it investment of some business men who claim to be missionaries but I won't go deep to this. if you want to know more about Nigeria you should read one of the books from Micheal crowder (history of Nigeria). what I'm saying is the governments are trading the country for their selfish reasons.

External forces are the cause of inflation in Nigeria, the country is so blessed with natural resources that it has been recorded that it stands the chance of becoming one of the greatest if opportunities are being used. we have resources far more than United Arab Emirates but can't use them because some countries including world power are making alot of profit from goods imported here.
Anyways that will be a discussion for another day,, Individuals efforts can't make the country better but can contribute alot that is the exactly meaning of what you have been saying I get it all, but framing it to sound like individuals can change the country... it's a big NO to me. Haven seen the past election and other things you should have understood the way the federal government and it's elites manipulate things.

Among the 5 things you mentioned about I only see the farming to be a good point because Nigeria survive from natural farming and lived better than now that the so called civilization has take place by the selfish colonial servants (masters).
915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Secure your crypto wealth by not having it all in crypto on: December 22, 2023, 06:20:02 PM
Diversifying your assets or investments is a must. There is always a scene that we will never be expected to happen, even if we always make sure of the security of our wallet, the hackers will always find a way to breach our security. Even in our cryptocurrency holdings, we should consider using different wallets to avoid losing all of it if our wallet gets hacked.
Even thou I agree with you to some point that it's a must that we have to diversify our investment but it's not for the sake of wallet security but for a life time security, to protect ourselves from unforseen circumstances that might raise when we do not expect them.
Instead of regretting our actions investing in one  thing it's good to separate them into classification as one of the x members suggested.

I usually have such thought in mind head too, like how do I stay safe from this hacks when I get up to a high amount of assets in my wallet.

So diversification is required whether into a physical asset of virtual asset, my conclusion was hang around having different wallets and split this virtual assets into smaller pieces and move to different wallets to keep hackers eye off one big wallet with alot of cryptocurrencies in it.

I could also diversify into physical asset but taxes and other factors discouraged that decision.

One of the key thing that help to become a successful business man is the ability to diversify one's income. Diversification is just like having a plan B. Having multiple wallet to save your huge crypto asses insist as good as diverting part of your asses into a physical asses. Both can't fail you at the same time.
Thanks for your contribution.
it's necessary to diversify investment from virtual assets to physical assets which you referred to as plan B, it's also a good ideal from you. I have plans of investing into things like real estate as a physical asset but that won't be a fast decision as time factor is to be considered and income
916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argentina has officially approved the agreement to legalize the use of Bitcoin on: December 22, 2023, 02:00:08 PM
I see two different things here quoted in the articles.

1. Argentina To Accept Contracts In Bitcoin i.e. Contracts Can Now be Settled in Bitcoin.
2. Argentina Approves Bitcoin as a Official Currency.

The latter is wrong to be honest, it's not the official currency of Argentina at all. In the article itself, it says the same thing as point 1.
Just a click bait titles to get more views.
it's a normal strategy that news sites uses to get attention. I have seen all and I read through it, It all falls at the same point.
From my subjectivity Argentina might end up not accepting it as a legal tender because this politicians are usually strategic in attaining office after being elected they might just go against they promises. And its not going to be a one man's decision because it must pass through the law makers (legislature) where some people might oppose but if the majority supports then it's going to be approved officially.

Well let's hope for the best, it might be official legalized too and that will be another stand for other countries to take this step.
917  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A piece of advise to everyone. on: December 22, 2023, 01:38:13 PM
A better advice would be for them to do more research about that topic they are arguing about; the fact that a high ranked member is correcting a newbie in a thread does not automatically mean that “high ranked” is correct.
I have witnessed alot of newbies correcting x members here and that is absolutely good because nobody is above mistakes right?, I have done that too.

But the fact that people do not surrender to others opinion/ point as a result of maintaining a seniority or reputation is what I'm tryna specifical dispute. Most times I read and I just laugh and remain silent because I figured out that if the conversation continues it would lead to something else.
I have also witnessed x members using valor languages on themselves because they both feel they are right and never to surrender and exist the conversation. Anyways we all got the right of freedom of speech.

The reason why people argue blindly is because they are ignorant. If they know more they would accept corrections and move on.
I guess you understand my point correctly, I suppose they'll still have to learn this regardless of the forum statuses.

I have noticed when corrected by older member, some newbies simply take the corrections and move on, others feel their ego bruised and tend to respond defensively, they play victim and try to make it a personal attack on their person. They can’t take criticism from senior members. I will give the same advice someone gave me when I first came here…’grow thicker skin’.
I have also noticed that some x members starts this personal attacks on this people at times, like when someone makes a mistake you turn it to be a personal attack or make your correction sound like a mockery. It's just disappointing. BTW, I love your advise here. I have grown thicker skin already.

Instead of arguing foolishly, it's just better to look and learn, or perhaps say thanks, or just take note and move on.

I hope that many people will read and learn from what you have said, although I don't frequently read such arguments  Undecided.
Your absolutely correct Dr. B.S. I also hope they learn too.
918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Bitcoin will bring you hope and gambling will leave you destitute. on: December 22, 2023, 12:59:03 PM
Your friend is a victim of circumstances, your friend just ran out of luck this time because he had something in mind before venturing into gambling although it turn out to be a bad decision that lead to the extent of borrowing to gamble.
He made a mistake that could result to a big effect in his life and his family generally. Based on your country economy he is in a very big debt considering fact that his family is a middle class level family they could bring him out of that mess.
But before he got so attached to gambling to that extent of addiction, was there nobody aware of his gambling habit? because surely there must be someone aware of it. so knowing fully well that his going to gamble with all his money they should have stopped him but they didn't, even the people who borrowed him the money could have contributed to his down fall.

Any ways at this point there is no need to judge his actions, all he needs now is to be redirected towards a better life.
919  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make Una Avoid Ethnicity Here in the Forum. We're all One. on: December 21, 2023, 11:48:52 PM
Edited out
I wouldn't argue with you or anyone for any reason. I'm sorry if my comment got you annoyed but I guess you didn't actually understand my suggestion over that thread.

I'm not a Yoruba person first of all, and I just noticed that there is a thread or board that is called Yoruba language and I know too well that the language is most used by Nigerians, so I suggested that instead of it to stand alone it should be included as a sub board in naija local board as other sub boards will be created too.

Hence I apologize to everyone!

EDIT :
Agbe, You're trying your best to keep the forum together which I appreciate alot. Just as Igebot said stick to rule NO: 2 don't make things look like personal attack. The last thread you created to correct someones mistake you said "As na me be una problem" which sparked some reactions too as personal attack. While holding the rules don't break them too.

Igebot and Charles TIm I appreciate you both for contributing hope you guys understand me too. Abeg make una too no take to matter far make e just end before e go turn to another thing too oh.

Once again thanks to y'all my Kan3 pipo  Wink
920  Other / Meta / Re: 2FA added on: December 21, 2023, 08:03:52 PM
Well done! Theymos and Power Glove

I did a quick review on the new 2FA feature..
- I enabled the 2FA using the Authenticator app and it gave me a little had time to enable because of the time limit (Expiration of code) of Authenticator while imputing my password to enable 2FA.

- After enabling it was kinda hard too to login because of the same reason above. Though it might be my from my devices response.

-I noticed the pop up notification that warns for incorrect 2FA key (code)

- Also disabled it to find bugs but found non yet, I will key an eye on to find errors on it.

In conclusion using the 2FA you have to be a kinda speedy because the code expires every minutes.
Nice work 👍
