Why are you so concerned? Just live your life to the fullest, not thinking about pointless stuff like that  Smiley

Voting is only there to distract you from actually doing something that could change the culture.  Once you vote you think you are done and someone else will do the hard work.  Instead go start a business, learn some new things and teach someone else not to be dependent on the government.

"We are a generation of men raised by women" -Tyler Durden

Blasphemy! It is written "What you see at fight club is a generation of men raised by women." which the Prophet Tyler peace be upon him said to his disciples when imparting the 7 Rules to them.

Religion is nothing more than a masking tool that enables those who use it to spread Racism, Hatred, Fear, Sexism and every other '-ism' that is normally frowned upon in polite society.

On that note I am joining this wicked religion.  Which believes:

The Pyramids of Egypt are, among other things, electromagnetic antennas that create standing columnar waves of tachyon energy to prevent the wobbling of the Earth.

The Koran called the Holy Qur’aan or the glorious Qur’aan as held in the hands of Muslims today is a product of Jewish scholars and the Catholic Church’s branch of the Jesuit priest under Pope Augustine.

Women existed for many generations before they invented men through genetic manipulation.
904  Other / Off-topic / Re: Revolutionary Agorism ebook, Alongside Night on: May 13, 2012, 08:16:08 AM
If you have not read this book I highly recommend it.  It is a story of how revolutionary [market] anarchists (I know I know, don't laugh) undermine and destroy the fiat currency system by using gold for a currency.  I think in a modern context (it was written in 1979) bitcoin can be seen in the same light.

http://www.alongsidenight.net/

The political philosophy is fun but too bad it is such a terrible read.  I would recommend just reading Samuel Edward Konkin III's New Libertarian Manifesto and then read some of Robert A. Heinlein's work such as The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

Please tell me each of you had active accounts on bitcoinica.
after this message both of you are getting ignored.

unignored.
I take back the homo comment to you, the other guy will just have to break his neck now.

I must say today is becoming a good day.

906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica security discussion from last years Hacker News. on: May 13, 2012, 07:36:56 AM
Stumbled over this interesting and somewhat ominous exchange from last year.

...

Ah well, hindsight is 20/20.  Undecided

You only did your research in hindsight?  I read this when I was searching about Bitcoinica when I first learned about them.  Measure your risks first before looking at the possible return.
907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Emergency ANN] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: May 13, 2012, 07:30:32 AM
^^^^^^

Very good point. The fact that the website is STILL offline, there are no status updates nowhere and there wasn't any email notification is just plain ridiculous.

People better come to terms that they are not getting their money back.  None of Bitcoinica's customers even know who runs the business.  The death spiral started with the theft of 40,000 bitcoins and then the transfer of responsibilities to other people was just a reminder of where Bitcoinica was heading.  This recent negligence in securing their customer's accounts is the nail in the coffin.

Important Disclaimer: I'm not a partner of Bitcoinica LP after the corporate reorganisation. Therefore, I have no financial obligation in this matter as I'm only an employee of Bitcoinica LP responsible for daily operations (no shares, no voting). However, I'll do my best with the team to resolve this problem as quickly as possible and minimize the impact for the community. I appreciate your patience and understanding.

wow did you get out of bitcoinia's ownership position at the perfect time.

Betcha he didn't sell it for cheap either.

But I don't think he's responsible of the second fiasco, save for the stubborn, braindead decision to keep sensible data in "the cloud" or anywhere outside of his exclusive control. Because the fatal vector here was "multiple emails with access to admin pass"+VPS hosting structure.

909  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Dividend Returns - updated weekly on: May 12, 2012, 06:38:07 AM
BDK dividend is doubled in the table for some reason. I paid 0.002134BTC/share, not .004268.

Though... I wouldn't complain much if it were left that way on the table.  Grin

Thanks for spotting that bug.  For some reason it was pulling BDK and BMMO twice.
910  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] 2,500 PPT.D Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: May 12, 2012, 06:07:39 AM
Here's a question to those busy bidding and buying - if you're only prepared to pay 1.10 at auction, why do people pay 1.15 immediately after the auction?  Wouldn't it be better to bid higher with greater certainty of having your order filled versus the regret of not having a high enough price.

I presume you bid at a level where you become indifferent between winning and losing - despite the problems with the auction today, it sounds like people were not indifferent between the two possible outcomes, and that was a deliberate strategy.

That does not make sense.  You expect people to bid higher just for a little convenience and lose a potential 5% more return?  That is like not bothering going to the petrol station across the street that sells petrol for 1.10 while the one you are at sells it for 1.15.  People could bid low (1.10) before the auction for the chance of getting a low price.  If they fail to get the asset and they still want it then they can bid higher (1.15).  PPT should worry more about buyers remorse than regret.

I wonder if those New Zealand police can crack the case.
912  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] 2,500 PPT.D Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: May 12, 2012, 02:24:47 AM
really needs to be on an automatic timer set by GLBSE. okay I lied but it did jump from 1.095 to 1.099(which it went off at) after 10pm. So it was more like .05 which does make a difference

edit: you beat me to it. auto timer is the way to go

What kind of timer is it now?
I believe one of the PPT guys probably just issues a sell order for 2500@ 1BTC as close as possible to the time, but I could be wrong.

That sucks.  When I was playing around with the dev site I thought the issuer could pre-release the set number of securities then when the IPO time occurred they would be released.

If more people boycotted voting then maybe we could get a "none of the above" choice.
915  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] PPT Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: May 08, 2012, 09:23:02 PM
However, we are seriously considering moving the date and time of the sale from Saturday morning at 2 AM UTC (that is every Friday evening at 7 PM PDT, 8 PM MDT, 9 PM CDT and 10 PM EDT) to something like Saturday evening at 5 PM UTC (that is every Saturday morning at 10 AM PDT, 11 AM MDT, 12 PM CDT and 1 PM EDT).

I'm on EDT.  Mid-day on a Saturday?  I'm not around then for sure.

I really liked the idea about splitting the sale up.  You'd see with just one test how successful (or not) it is, and get an idea of when your buyers are available.

From the data I looked at a few weeks ago, it looks like most trading occurs during Wednesday, but I did not do any deep analysis of it.
916  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Dividend Returns - updated weekly on: May 07, 2012, 10:22:04 AM
Oh damn...

This messes up my own dividend data too! Thanks for bringing that up, hopefully soon(tm) there'll be a "history" function available at GLBSE other than that twitter feed!

It was pretty simple to add.  PUREMINING was the only asset that was missing.  I put a downloadable csv in case anyone wanted that.  Eventually I wil get this in my own database but for now I am too busy.

Didn't you knew that Mark offered himself and his company to be DEA snitches?
Or is it bitches instead of snitches? I always get confused... Roll Eyes

All financial institutes are snitches whether in the US or not as if they don't comply with US financial disclosures then they will be cut out of the US financial industry.  It may also be illegal under US law to tell a customer they are calling the police or submitting a SAR.

Hopefully the Bitcoinica/Intersango thing will eventually turn into a new full-fledge spot exchange.

Don't hold your hopes for Intersango... Haven't you seen the thread where they locked the bitcoins of a dude who told them he wanted to withdraw the BTC to a silk road address?
Yeah, that was stupid of him Grin

you're joking right lol and the award to the worlds dumbest criminal goes too....

Well the only real hope is to get a network of hand to hand exchanges....
918  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Dividend Returns - updated weekly on: May 06, 2012, 08:42:23 PM
Meni just informed me that the downloadable table in the OP is not correct for his asset PUREMINING.  Doing some research, it looks like GLBSE only returns the last 10 dividend payments.  This won't affect many of the assets except those that pay more than 10 dividend payments in a specific time period.  It looks like those assets are PUREMINING and MATH.  I thought I could just pull the data from GLBSE but instead now I need to just make my own databases.

Monthly returns for April has been updated.

Can you please add RSM to your weekly list?  We paid our first weekly dividend of 0.00209389BTC per share was paid last Thursday (2012/05/04).  3.42560434BTC over 1636 shares.  We will now be paying a dividend every week which should rise with the delivery of board #2 and again once we have sold enough shares for board #3 to a minimum of 0.0040BTC a week per share.  Thanks.

Sure, just like I said for ZIP, it will be on the next thing.  If you click on the downloadable link on the OP, RSM should be there. Next week it should be up on the OP table too.
