901  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Verify your funded items*Cant HoDL if you ain’t GoTL* on: January 19, 2023, 01:14:27 PM
[...]
One thing with the chainz site, is that someone pointed out to me recently that sometimes is seems as though it rounds up the amount in the address...
Think the one they pointed out the load was 0.025xxxx and it showed as 0.030xxxx
Hopefully that person sees this post and remembers...  Tongue

Indeed rounding seems to happen on mobile devices. Probably a tiny bug.
Unfortunatelly, if the amount is 0.0005 it will round to 0.001 - which is an error of +100%.
I think things get rounded to 4 digits. So MJ's example was probably "0.0025xxxx and it showed as 0.0030xxxx"

However, the full (real) amount can still be seen on the bottom of the page.
902  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Verify your funded items*Cant HoDL if you ain’t GoTL* on: January 19, 2023, 11:05:43 AM
There is also a "Helpful Resources" part in my coldkey-scam summary: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3315347.msg61612749#msg61612749
Including links to wallet-apps that provide address observation.

You can also find your full address with first bits here… if it’s funded lol

http://walletexplorer.com/

if you go to mempool.space and start typing the firstbits - it will show you all addresses that match each value you enter, as you enter more characters the list shrinks accordingly.

Thanks Mopar - I did not know this

I'd recommend switching to chainz. With walletexplorer, sometimes (rarely) it is unable to find the full address by firstbits - MJ recommended chainz to me and it works perfectly.
Also, a big plus: you can find firstbits for almost any shitaltcoin, too.

Mempool.space is new to me for firstbits but seems to be working great for Bitcoin.

905  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Influencers, affiliate links and scams on: January 17, 2023, 10:36:04 PM
One of the most common and easy ways to profit in crypto industry is to promote affiliate links to online platforms such as casinos, exchanges and micro earnings websites. Probably most of us have already done it in the past, or still do this during the present moment.

However, what if you had the reach of 1 million subscribers? Millions of views? And if you endorsed a platform to all those people which turned into scam?

[...]
What do you think about these people? Do they have any responsabilities when promoting companies which turned into scam? Should they be held accountable for that? Is it right to profit over your audience's losses? And is there more responsability involved when it's an influent person promoting affiliate links, instead of random crypto enthusiasts sharing their links in social medias?
All I can say is, it was very interesting to see the different ways people that promoted FTX dealt with its implosion a few months back. It is as you would expect: The whole spectrum from not-even-mentioning a thing to their subscribers, via blaming FTX and SBF but instantly continuing with other promotions to the very rare "I will not promote any CEX from now on" reaction.
That being said, yes, if you promote something and create any kind of revenue from it, you have at least the responsibility to check if it is not an OBVIOUS scam / ponzi etc. And as soon as you get any info that things could be shady it is also your responsibility to immediately stop the promotion and inform your viewers/listeners etc.

If you do your due dilligence before accepting a promo-partner you'd probably need to rule out 95%+ of potential partners in crypto space from the start on.
You will probably lose some of the most lucrative deals. Which is why too many influencers and youtubers don't do exactly that.
906  Economy / Collectibles / Re: My Cold Keys Just Got Swiped! All Halving Sets!! on: January 17, 2023, 10:07:40 PM
Both addresses that were swept to (`3BBNmksdPw63ghuNEeFsfPkwXaiqYJH9e7` and `3BZDT1rhf7vnabzASuiLzDBBbgDfHivdRd`) are now confirmed HitBTC addresses, as both were transferred to the HitBTC cold wallet. Looks like Yogg is going to cash it out/has actually sold it.

I've messaged their legal team, which probably won't help, but it should at least get his account shutdown. Feel free to contact them as well. The more the better IMO. Smiley

Well, there goes the narrative that he was a degenerate gambler.  He's just a plain old run of the mill scammer that made a bunch of fake friends to rugpull them with his collectible.  Otherwise, he would at least contribute whatever is left to his "friends" aka victims.

I would find it troublesome if HitBTC was willing to act upon random emails, but maybe in this case there is enough evidence for them to do something.  Likely not, but I applaud your efforts for trying and would encourage others to do the same.  Providing pics and as much information as you can will likely help make it seem more real for them also.

Nice investigative work.  I hope some of the stolen funds are able to be recovered.  It would be a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

HitBtc is run bye the Bytecoin scammers so don't expect anything from them.

I heard a handful of *very* bad stories from people in crypto space that I trust regarding Hit-BTC. Beware!

Quick info:  I updated and moved my scam-summary: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3315347.msg61612749#msg61612749
I'll try to update / edit as good as possible when new / more things come to light. Despite that will probably try to be a littles less involved in the topic for now - it was kinda soul-draining over the last few days. (and I wasn't even close to Yogg and didn't own too many ck cards).

Coldkey Scam Reference

NOTE: THIS IS MY ATTEMPT TO BRING SOME STRUCTURE INTO THE CHAOS CAUSED BY YOGG AND HIS SWEEP-SCAM.
THIS POST IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION but mostly done for now

Approximate Timeline
- prior to the sweep: unfunded cards, loans from various folks, website down, massive delay in delivering cards, attempt to give away responsibility by giving CEO position to cygan: in retro looks like a clear forshadowing of the sweep-scam*1
- Jan 12, 2023, 11:22:00 AM (UTC/ New York Time +5): First Sweeps Appear on the Blockchain - Link (Transaction)

- GENERAL: More info on the timeline of swept funds by LoyceV

*1: Please note, all this data was never in one place. People giving loans were not aware that other loans were already given but not paid back to Yogg.
The unfunded cards were never noticed. Yogg time and time again made excuses for deliver-delays. The website shutdown was supposed to only last a short time.
Only after the sweeping of funds happend on Jan 12, people started bringing the pieces together, slowly uncovering the full extend of the situation.

*˛: some cards' funding had to be triggered via the website - which is now unavailable. - I believe that some cards were never funded BEFORE this new web-funding-mechanism was implemented.
However, since the webpage coldkey.eu is now unavailable, this part is at least on the same level of a SCAM as Titan mint (no access for 2FA coins).

c) Other Losses:
- loans that should have been returned long time ago (to Mopar, Polymerbit, Agrawas, DarkStar, Becassine and possibly others) - Ref 1, Ref 2, Ref 3: loan address

Important Info
- all coldkeys' private keys are potentially compromised -> It is strongly recommended that you sweep your coins into a secure wallet that only you can access

Personal observations
Despite the monetary losses including loans, raffle-funds, sweeped cards, never-funded-cards and the huge amount of premiums that coldkey-collectors suffered from, this event has left some scars.
Yogg was once regarded as a highly trusted, friendly, tech-savy, innovative maker and innovator in the collectible space. His exit scam came as shock to many in the collectible community and especially those once close to him.

Please continue to do so. I will not reply until I start the shipping process. This is planned for end of next week - waiting for some tiny prints I ordered to arrive by then.

915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin AI Generated Images on: January 15, 2023, 01:24:21 PM
I just want to say that op's images are amazing. My  Internet connection is very weak right now, but I think I'll try playing with AI later. I tried it before with some online services where you could also give prompts and choose styles, but the images, while sort of beautiful, were often too bizarre, usually because of objects not being fully there, faces and bodied generally being muffled or overstretched, etc. Yours are much better. I'd love to hear more about these results. Like, how many tries does it take to make a good image, or how many minutes/hours it took to get all the images in the original post? I see you've mentioned a free trial of 25 images, but also that you've purchased a subscription.
I can only say what I experienced about 3 months ago. Things are changing very quickly, so take it with a grain of "probably already different".
- As you cannot directly influence the composition of these images (at least with MJ) but only indirectly by tweeking some parameters and adjusting your prompt, it usually took between 5 - 25 tries (renders) to come close to what I had in mind. Sometimes it also seemed impossible to really get there
- Rendertimes depend a lot on activity, servers were often overwhelmed so you would wait between maybe 15 seconds to 10 minutes just for one image
- it's a lot of trial and error but also needs some knowledge on advanced parameters to get to the desired result. Back then there were already some decent guides and a good discussion forum, so you should be able to find a lot
- imho postwork (in PS, or Gimp etc) is necessary almost always if you want to use these images in a professional context
- don't expect to get too much done with the free version, 25 renders are gone in no-time
- have fun
916  Economy / Economics / Re: what is the key to your success investing in bitcoin.. on: January 15, 2023, 01:14:47 PM
First response was:
Buy low, sell high dont't sell at all (aka hodl).

There is more to it however:
- Don't chase quick gainzzz. 99% of projects and coins etc are vaporware, scam, total bs or just unecessary.
- Have a "strategy" that you stick to. In this way, you can and should resort back to it when you are tempted to make a quick, possibly irrational decision. Just generally, unless part of your strategy (for example "buy if below xyz $") don't make any quick decisions at all.
- Don't try to be a trader (unless you enjoy paying rent for the 0.x% of actually successful traders out there) - have a good doller-cost-average buying strategy over a longer period of time. You can slightly adjust whenever there are dips - but neither panic-buy or panic-sell. It all comes back to my previous point.
- Have at least a real job or better yet several sources of income and don't put everything on one card/coin. Only put a tiny percentage of your earnings into crypto. Diversify.
- Be patient and use your brain. FOMO and FUD should be identified quickly and avoided.

918  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How long should I wait on a seller to respond? on: January 15, 2023, 12:21:19 PM
So it is a maker or just a collector you purchased your item(s) from?
If it's actually several months you could try and ask some forum members that are well connected to some makers and many collectors to try and reach the them directly for you (via other channels).

Sucks to be in such a position but hope it'll be rectified soon.

Personally I think depending on the timeline of messages and missing response you can also call them out here. If it's a single mistake - things happen and it will be sorted out.
But if others are having similar issues but until now decided to keep silent it would help ring some bells early on.
919  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [RANT] Can we stop with the coins / wallets / collectables with private keys on: January 14, 2023, 03:36:46 PM
Just wanna jump in real quick and say this a very interesting, important and maybe fruitful-for-all-of-us discussion to have.
A ton of (partly conflicting) thoughts on this topic have been swirling around my head since two days ago.

Pretty busy for the rest of the weekend, so I'll probably come back here during next week and try to write it all down.
Short version: DIY-coins/products should receive more focus and it would be important to time-and-time again explain (especially to new people in the collectible space) the potential dangers of maker-funded items.
But also, there are merits of pre-funded collectibles and even though I thought so at first, I don't think demand for them will ever seize to exist for a few reasons (will explain later).
Some improvements of transparency are necessary for any reputable project in the future creating funded items, though.

Hey KW, thanks for the combined info thread.

Here is the IOS app that alerted me to the rug pull to add to your references…

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bitcoin-address-tracker/id1465853490

I asked the developer to look into a feature that will send you an alert if your balance drops… I’ll let you know if he’s able to make that happen.

Thanks!
Wow, such a feature would be DOPE.
Still, I never wanna face such an alarm. Ever.
