I’ll give them a pass on the exhibitions because they probably weren’t giving it their best effort while their opponents likely considered it the game of their lives. The bottom line is that the US team has Kevin Durant so anything less than the gold would be upsetting. I think the next year could lead to a Durant gold medal, NBA MVP, and Finals MVP.

In the end, Giannis was just too much to handle.  Was funny hearing him talk about his brother winning a ring with the Lakers last year and it being awkward at the dinner table.  Amazing that he had such skill that he literally carried his brothers with him from poverty to the NBA and got them both championship rings.  His story has got to be one of the best ones in the NBA and this championship is well deserved for him.  When all is said and done for him, they're going to make one hell of a documentary about his life.
9024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: July 20, 2021, 11:58:02 PM
Oh man… I hadn’t heard about Scott Foster… I don’t know how to play this one. On one hand the NBA wants a game 7, but on the other hand Chris Paul has an 0-12 streak going with Scott Foster in the playoffs. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks this may be an opportunity for the NBA to get what they want while at the same time crushing the ‘Scott Foster / Chris Paul’ conspiracy and breaking the 0-12 streak. I’m guessing we’ll figure out which way the game will go by whatever star has to sit down in the 1st quarter with foul trouble.

I'm just glad he wasn't able to successfully raise funds to pull his planned exit scam before leaving here.

I'm running my new project in a separate corporation and will be fundraising to develop it.  My goal is to make $1,000 a month residual income, so I can get citizenship in a caribbean country, sell my house, and retire.

Say what you want about the "feud" which was really just him attacking me with lies, but at least it shed light on Vod's health, his efforts to flee his country, and his financial situation as a result of a dozen job losses over the last half a decade that caused him to sell off BPIP and then attempt to raise funds the same way hundreds before him were attacked by him for doing...  In the end, Vod attempted to become that which he claimed to fight against for a decade and he owes me thanks for stopping him from succeeding.

The time has come, we will know in few hours if the Bucks will be able to close out the series and win the Championship.

Suns has no answer in the last 3 games, Bucks should win this game, but anything could happen, Suns is a great team, they had some good games where they could have won the game, so the possibility of upsetting the Bucks in game 6 is possible.

The Bucks starters has to play their best game to finish the series today.

I hope not.  I don't want to see the NBA season end, and I'm hungry for a game 7.  I'd also like to see the Suns win a championship, but I believe the Bucks deserve it more.  They've had Giannis and have been building around him for years now, not being able to make it over the final hump.  The least they could do is take it to a game 7 for the fans though.  Maybe the NBA will work a little magic and we'll see a bunch of early foul calls on Giannis, Middleton, or Holiday.  I think we might need a little referee help today to get this one.
9027  Other / Politics & Society / Re: global abuse of cyber-surveillance weapon on: July 20, 2021, 08:50:27 PM
If there is one issue that Democrats and Republicans the world over agree on without argument, it’s that surveillance of their citizens is necessary. Funny how that works. When it comes to not respecting your privacy and thinking they are needed to keep us alive, politicians on both sides of the aisle agree that they need access to all your info and you should be thankful for their willingness to do so.

Yes, that does seem to be the general principle.

But in this instance it's a lot more specific, a lot more targeted. There is uproar in India now following further Pegasus revelations. Modi has been accused of treason as - surprise surprise - the phone number of opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is on the surveillance list. Actually two of his phone numbers, along with the numbers of at least five of his close friends...

My understanding is that it not only lists phone numbers, but those with access to the system are able to pull up any communications with the identified individual, every person they have come into contact with and every person those people have come into contact with.  All of this is stored permanently in data storage facilities and available for browsing by hundreds of thousands of people working with the right clearance.  Every phone conversation, every email, every selfie, etc...  It sounds like conspiracy stuff to most people, but this has been happening for 15 years now.
9028  Other / Meta / Re: How does evil fee makes sense? on: July 20, 2021, 08:45:34 PM
Actual newbies will be put off by this while the ones who were actually looking to make alts will pay those few thousand satoshi (or just use fresh ip or smth), what's the point?

The point is to inconvenience scammers and spammers who try to hide their identity using things like TOR.  At the same time, less educated newbies will likely then pay the fee leaving a trail to their true identity, or having to mask this payment as well, which you guessed it, further inconveniences them or possibly even doxes them via the blockchain.  It's one of the few processes that has been put in place to empower honest users by inconveniencing others and isn't an issue for anyone who isn't hiding anything.
9029  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Poll] At what point will you stop complying with Covid restrictions? on: July 20, 2021, 08:39:06 PM
C'mon man!  Do a real survey.  95% or more of the sheeple will NEVER stop complying no matter what is thrown at them.  That should be abundantly clear by now.

I was hoping this wouldn't be the case, but you can really see the brainwashed sheep on this thread.  It looks like currently 71.4% of people who have voted think it would be ok for the government to take someone's property and send them to jail unless they get vaccinated to slightly reduce effects for 8 months from a flu.  I get that it's likely idiots trolling, but maybe some of them actually believe this.  It's common human behavior.  Misery loves company.  If you're a sheep who is scared of the government, you want everyone to be a sheep scared of the government.  You might even steal from and incarcerate those who are free or in this case, hope the government does it for you.  I hope this is more a result of people trolling and isn't indicative of real opinions.  Otherwise, I vote that we permanently remove the laughable nickname, "The Home of the Brave" because all I see is fearful children begging for the government to save them from the flu.  Absolutely the most pathetic thing I've witnessed so far in my life.
9030  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: GPUs at MSRP? When will we see this? on: July 20, 2021, 12:21:36 AM
I just got an evga kingpin at msrp waited on list from 1/31/2021 got it last week.

1/31/2021 to 7/7/2021 is a long Time to wait for a card. but it is a fucking beast.

What list? I want to be on that list.

I’m glad to see cards starting to be in stock at high prices and hope I’ll be able to catch one at MSRP soon. I wish I had navigated this GPU shortage better. I sold off my GPUs from my gaming rig thinking I’d upgrade and was never able to find upgrades.  Sad

I've never run a Raspberry Pi before.  Can you tell me how necessary it is to have active cooling on one of those units if you were to use it 24/7 as a lightning node for example?  I'm not sure I've seen active cooling solutions like this before and it definitely looks cool.  I'm assuming it's also quite functional in that aspect, but I'm wondering if it's a thermal necessity or just a cool looking way to present your hardware to onlookers.  Either way, great work!
9034  Other / Politics & Society / [Poll] At what point will you stop complying with Covid restrictions? on: July 19, 2021, 08:39:36 PM
People seemed all too willing in my opinion to give up their freedoms based on their government's wishes surrounding this Covid flu.  At what point would you as a citizen decide enough is enough and you are not willing to comply with their guidance any longer?  Maybe you were ok with masks, willing to get a shot, think others should before going outside, don't mind a 'jab' every 6 months, but don't think people should be jailed for not doing so...  I'd like to see the results of where you as a citizen would draw the line, and feel free to post comments about what you would do once that line is crossed by your government.

Quote from: ignored user
OP, take a look at my trust history and you'll see that there are probably more negatives than positives.  Does that mean you can't trust me?  No (though I'm sure there are some members who'd tell you otherwise).  Most of the red trust I've gotten has been from members I'd previously tagged for various misdeeds like account selling or abusing bounties.  The same is true for many members on the default trust list, because a lot of them are or have been active scam busters and have thus gotten a lot of negative trust in return from members they've busted.
I have gotten a glimpse of how the trust system works. I have journeyed through your trust history, aswell as other reputable members. It looks like a cold war from your reply and what I witnessed. The revenge of the busted!
But I think it's risky, if there isn't a police to enforce or regulate the system, the negative people may overwhelm and hijack the system.

The negative users are definitely a cancer on the trust network.  A lot of them are unhappy with their own lives and use this forum as an outlet to attack others.  As more successful and positive members flee this place, we are left with an ever growing % of unproductive members who think that spreading negativity is somehow a good thing here.  They team up to get each other in the default trust network and take out their frustrations on those whose attention they seek to give them some sort of relevance here they are unable to achieve in their daily lives.  My advice is to add these users to your trust settings with a ~ in front of their name to exclude them and free yourself from their negative influence.

If you want to judge someone's reputation, you'd be better off counting the number of positive interactions, as trust envy is very real here.

Hope this is the legit way and there will be no blockage issue, as there are a lot of such offers available but at the end the user account will got banned.

I only block users who appear to be using their account for the sole purpose of getting into a signature campaign.
9037  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley on: July 19, 2021, 06:04:33 AM
This fight is already such a train wreck.  I saw them make a bet on the losing fighter getting the winning fighter's name tattooed on them.  It might be slightly interesting seeing if the production has been stepped up at all from the last Jake Paul fight, but I'll admit the mess it was made it bearable to watch.  I think I'm probably more interested in seeing how the event itself unfolds and which celebrities will be in attendance then who wins the actual main event.
9038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mtgox trustee and return of funds on: July 19, 2021, 05:49:05 AM
I received a packet from the trustee a few weeks ago, but didn't manage to sit down and read through everything until tonight.  As there was no good option available, I did vote 'Yes' to the rehabilitation plan in the hopes of having some BTC returned to me after all of these years.  It looks like it will be around 15-20% of the original amount in BTC returned in a best case scenario.  Considering the amount of price appreciation since the gox closure, I think most people will likely be relieved to have this come to a close.  Hopefully next year.
9039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 18, 2021, 10:42:15 PM
I really wanted to see a game 7, this doesn't change anything and there could still be a game 7 but I have to say that it is now a lot harder for Suns to end up winning at a road game, there is a good chance Bucks could end this in 6. ~snip~

The situation now favors the Bucks, they'll bring their biggest crowd in game 6 because if they'll win, they'll celebrate. I also don't see a scenario where the Suns will ruin this, if the Bucks will win, they deserve to celebrate the championship at home.

With this possible win, Giannis will be proven to be one of the legit NBA stars because his resume will go like this.

Regular season MVP
NBA Finals MVP
NBA Champion.

Don’t forget DPOY. He’s only the third to ever do that.

I wanted the Suns to win, but Giannis deserves it so you can’t be too upset. All the games have been pretty close though so for now I will be waiting and hoping like everyone else that we get to see a game seven in this series.
9040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 18, 2021, 08:42:04 AM
That first quarter was something to see. You got a glimpse of the Suns at their full potential. Giannis is just too much for them though. Ayton does a good job but he’s just not enough. I think the Suns have been playing great and this has no doubt been their best season since 1993, but with their back to the wall and the Bucks heading home it doesn’t look good…
