I've got a question but I don't know if it's relevant to Bitcoin or not.
 Maybe someone knows.

I came across an article about "illegal prime numbers" and I ended up at this wikipedia page
  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal_prime

and I was wondering if any of the Bitcoin code could be written as "executable prime numbers".
-snip-
If any other user has any input on this question feel free to contribute!
-snip-

Well this is a pretty broad answer, but since there are an infinite number of primes [1] and even an infite number of primes in the form needed for an illegal prime [2] there is at least one that can represent the current code of the reference client for bitcoin. But honestly, Illegal numbers are not a concept by mathematicians, technicians or programmers. Its an concept that originates in the wrong idea that information can be owned and licensed. Information is neither matter nor energy it is something different even though we need matter and/or energy to store it. The concept of secret algorithms that can not be known in order to protect something was outdated before the first computer was build [3] yet people still cling to that idea. The illegal prime is just another story that proves that humans will find a way to share information, even if that would require you to print the source into a book [4].

9044  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Friday - Ask All Your Bitcoin (Newbie) Questions Here! on: September 05, 2014, 09:28:48 PM
Ask away and I will attempt to help whoever I can, whenever I can.

You may ask anything thats on your mind related to bitcoin!

Can a full member ask as well?  Wink ... a hypothetical one

What happen if there will be no transactions in the air? ... Suddenly (reasons unknown), all users stop just sending bitcoins for a while.
No new blocks? ...  or blocks without transaction or ...?

Transactions need blocks for confirmations, blocks dont need transactions. There are plenty blocks that have no transaction even recently.
9045  Other / Meta / Re: Why did my reporting accuracy go down for this?? on: September 05, 2014, 07:19:46 PM
You got a good report for that, but looks like you did get a bad one earlier. What sub was the thread in originally?

Yeah the bad one was probably the one in games and rounds. Above thread was originally posted in service discussion, but with the [ANN] in the title it was a no brainer to report the move Wink
9046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Your full node info page on: September 05, 2014, 07:17:47 PM
[...] I found this script: http://pastebin.com/wKytLZmc but noone running it. [...]

I run it with some modifications, i.e. http://84.200.34.113
I plan to add server uptime and bitcoind uptime to it too, but haven't gotten around it yet.

Morbilas (he wrote the one you linked to, if I'm not mistaken) also uses it on the nodes he sets up: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582817.0

I came across this which I quite like too: http://176.10.116.242/
Yeah, I posted about http://176.10.116.242/ a while back, but nobody answered (so I guess it's not public domain)...  I imagine it's pretty easy to do, but I wouldn't know how to make something like that.

You could try to make a post in the german section.

Im still working on a rrdtool test setup, update on my traffic:

It looks like the peers launch bitcoin-core after work/school/etc and shutdown after the/over night.
9047  Other / Meta / Re: Why did my reporting accuracy go down for this?? on: September 05, 2014, 06:56:14 PM
yeah I reported that as well, no idea if the report was positive or negative. Honestly, if you notice a single report you dont report enough and IMHO it does no matter.

Its in the correct section know, whether its a scam or not can be discussed in service discussion.
9048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: "No block source available..." on: September 05, 2014, 06:51:27 PM
Threads are irrelevant, maybe you wanted to write connnections? Anyway, try adding one of the fallback node from here

 https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Fallback_Nodes#Nodes_list

with addnode IP add from console.
9049  Economy / Gambling / Re: DiceBitco.in | BE THE BANK ! | 1% House Edge | 7500+ BTC BANKROLL | INSTANT! on: September 05, 2014, 04:52:38 PM
I was just looking at my deposit address on the blockchain, and noticed that the amount was transferred to the address of https://btcgains.com/ central address. How is that site related to dicebitco?

The funds from your deposit address are most likely used as withdrawal for someone else, at least thats how its usually done.
Coldstorrage has ~BANKROLL-50 BTC

9050  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [GAME] Bitcoin Hidden Chest Round 5 special round [30 mBTC] on: September 05, 2014, 04:32:41 PM

public key https://blockchain.info/address/1HBwPeyUqDxXPQ3mQ7UDq835chhaNmWnCi
First hint : ruin

2nd hint was: You probably never been there. If you did I'm not sure you remember
3rd hint was: Chest

both on twitter, not here.
9051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Help]I need help to make bitcoind work with my site and accept transactions on: September 05, 2014, 03:39:25 PM
This either is a scam about to happen or the beginning of a great romance (story it success)
i dont know what you saw or read in my post that is a possible scam am just new to btc development and in need of help isnt this section all about?

What I saw is a Newbie offering help via Skype, which in my book smells like scam. Maybe I am just a bit paranoid. Take care, keep asking questions, nothing wrong about that.
9052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: "deserialize or I/O error" in reindexing on: September 05, 2014, 03:34:50 PM
Wasnt this fixed with v >0.9?

Anyway your DB is corrupted. -rescan* will not help here you need to make a new DB with -reindex

* it scans for missing TX, not your concern I think Wink
9053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core 0.9.2.1 crash on: September 05, 2014, 12:47:56 PM
bad_alloc usually means that you run out of memory. How much RAM do you have in that system? Did you test [1] your memory recently?

[1] e.g. with memtest86+

-snip-

Also, even when the site was having extreme lags, when rolls stopped working or took several minutes. The withdrawing usually still worked.

Dont know, I have been starring at that dice for days. I think I was able to play a little yesterday, but it felt like ages where I couldnt reach the site. Sometimes the connection broke in the middle of a roll which made it even worse.
9057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: FAQ: All About Unconfirmed 0 Confirmation Transaction Fee (READ before posting!) on: September 04, 2014, 07:07:21 PM

It isnt, but according to the link you paid no fee. This usually leads to your TX waiting for a long time till a miner finally takes a heart* and confirmes it.

* thats not techincally acurate.
9058  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice | Most Popular Bitcoin Game| 0.91% Edge| PVP | Jackpot | Faucet on: September 04, 2014, 06:57:52 PM
All day down for me.. still no good news on the fixes?

Clear, can you not access it through "https://primedice.com/play/" ?

Because I still can, ever since the main adress has been forwarding to twitter. Only the chatwindow loses connection.

This does indeed work, thank you Smiley For now, at least rolling is functional.

Welcome  Grin

Thanks as well, could withdraw, waiting for a confirmation now, but that has nothing to do with PD
