9041  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-12] Cryptocurrency-Mining-As-As-Service Is A Future Tailwind For AMD on: October 12, 2017, 12:41:09 AM
I like Motek Moyen's courage by giving his fearless forecasts in this article. He predicts that the total cryptocurrency market capitalization will grow to 400 billion in 5 years. We are now at 150 billion.

Then he predicts that this will also make AMD grow expand its business outside GPU manufacturing and will start going into, what he calls, Cryptocurrency-mining-as-a-Service or simply cloud mining.

That is very brave of him to say that.

Cloud Mining Services Can Go Mainstream

I look forward to AMD eventually supplying its EPYC servers processors and Vega/Navi datacenter GPU accelerators to crypto money trading operators like Coinbase. My fearless forecast is that there will be more operators of Cryptocurrency-mining-as-a-Service [CMaaS]. Opportunistic capitalists in countries (like China/Russia) where there are cheap electricity rates and/or abundant sunshine and wind, will operate CMaaS cloud platforms.

Genesis Mining is currently the largest CMaaS operator. Once Microsoft (MSFT) Azure starts offering CMaaS to compete with Genesis Mining, other top cloud computing firms will probably follow. If you don’t have space and/or the patience to build/maintain mining rigs and solar/wind energy systems, you can just buy a two-year crypto mining contract for Ether.

Stripping down from their worldly belongings is a commendable move but they have 3 children. They could have bought a smaller and simpler house and make themselves more comfortable. I reckon that they are taking too much risk, we do not know when the next bitcoin boom is.

9043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many Bitcoin forks can we expect to see? on: October 10, 2017, 01:15:59 AM
@jrobi4life. If government regulators start coming after ICOs on 2018, then I reckon there will be more bitcoin hardforks. Why? Because ICOs will stop and the scammers will turn to other ways to make easy money.

I reckon bitcoin gold is the first scam fork of bitcoin out there. Let us see how the exchanges react. If they react to it favorably, then expect more hardforks to come.

If everyone did not know, be informed that there is a premine in bitcoin gold.
9044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 10, 2017, 12:57:08 AM
@sammy007. It might be an impatient whale who cannot wait to get all the Aeons he can buy. There was one in Bittrex who bought it up to 45k satoshis on June. I reckon we are witnessing the same whale buying like he does not care in HitBTC.
9045  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-08] Bitcoin Mining Next Frontier for Japanese Financial Institutions on: October 10, 2017, 12:46:24 AM
@btcton. Why not? Of course Japan can make some profit in mining. The price is high and they are more technologically advanced than China. I speculate they are developing their own asics that might be more energy efficient than Bitmain's.

With their technological advantage, in 2 years time they can produce the best asics in the industry if they wanted to.
9046  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-10] Mastercard CEO Attacks Bitcoin, Finds Solace in Government Cryptos on: October 10, 2017, 12:34:08 AM
Take a look at the image below. That is the face of a man threatened and scared, and his turban is not helping.

Today, this is the second article I have read that someone from the banking industry has tried to discredit bitcoin. He says any cryptocoin that is not backed by a government is junk. I reckon he does not get it or he is refusing to get it.

For anyone of you who still does not get it, go back to the basics and read Satoshi's white paper.

Ajay Banga, CEO of Mastercard, has leveled a scathing attack on any and all cryptocurrencies that are not government mandated, calling them “junk”.

Digital currencies are almost direct competition for a company like Mastercard, and when asked his opinion on the futuristic technology, Banga was not complimentary of how things stand at the moment.

Knowing that digital currencies are big disrupters in the traditional money market, traditional investors, and now even established money movers, have been scathing.

Banga was not totally against the idea of Blockchain-based money and tokenization, however, his big caveat was that it needs to be government backed.

“If the government creates digital currency, we will find a way to be in the game. We will provide rails for moving currency from customer to merchant. The government mandated digital currencies are interesting. Non-government mandated currency is junk,” he said.

9047  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-10] Investing in Bitcoin is Like Betting on Internet Companies in 90s on: October 10, 2017, 12:20:08 AM
The title alone says everything. Matthew Goetz did not read Satoshi's whitepaper and it is clear that he does not know what he is talking about.

It would have been better for him not to talk about something that is beyond his expertise. I am not saying I am an expert myself, but the people who can comment what is good or bad about bitcoin are the very people who have a background in cryptography. Not retired bankers who's expertise is scamming the people.

Former Goldman Sachs vice president Matthew Goetz believes that investing in bitcoin is comparable to investing in internet companies in the early 1990s: it’s clear this technology is disruptive, but it’s impossible to know whether bitcoin will be usurped by another cryptocurrency down the road — perhaps one that hasn’t even been invented yet.

Goetz, who co-founded cryptocurrency investment firm BlockTower Capital earlier this year, compares the current state of cryptocurrency to the development of the internet during the early 1990s. Even at that early date, select forward-thinking investors rightly forecasted that the internet would usher in a digital revolution, but virtually no one could have identified the specific investments that would benefit most from this technology.

9048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar (STR) what do you think? on: October 09, 2017, 12:40:25 AM
@faaty. You may be correct. Ripple and Stellar have shown to be pumped side by side by the whales in the past. If you buy one, you also have to buy the other to not miss a sure profit opportunity.
9049  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-08] Bitcoin Mining Next Frontier for Japanese Financial Institutions on: October 09, 2017, 12:33:19 AM
Why would any financial institution want to get into bitcoin by mining it? Obtaining a significant amount of hash power to mine against the network is not going to help them secure a foothold in Bitcoin. Instead, if they actually care to invest in Bitcoin, they should be buying in and managing bitcoin themselves directly, albeit I doubt any of this would seriously happen given how it doesn't really help financial institutions at all other than by being a means of investment like any other from their perspective.

What other reason is there but to make profit and gain some degree of control on the protocol. Because if they really wanted to invest in the future of the cryptospace, then they should invest in its very foundation. Mining.

I reckon they will also be accumulate and hold bitcoin and other promising cryptcoins.

9050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 09, 2017, 12:24:30 AM
Bringing it back to the subject of Aeon Speculation for a moment...

Looks like we're about to engage in a mini-buying frenzy.

With Poloniex adoption likely so close, how long is the price likely to stay so low?

The price can be "fixed" any time and AEON will reach its deserved $100 million market cap for the start. Just look at the all useless shitcoins in top 100, it's easy to realise how AEON is unfairly cheap.

Don't forget that leading AEON dev is one of the founding fathers of Monero, both coins has bright feature, will share all scientistic research in privacy tech which is funded by community, not by shady premine or other misleading techniques.

That is very true. There are many people in this thread who are waiting to make a quick trade for bitcoin and when they lose, they start creating FUD and blame Aeon for its lack of development, which is far from the truth.

But I hope they dump because I would be very happy to catch the Aeon falling knife hehehe.

@swogerino. Yes, this is Lewis' season once again, and I reckon he will be again next season as long as he stays with Toto Wolff and Mercedes. I reckon their dominance will continue until the new engine specifications on 2021.

By that time I hope to see Lewis back at McLaren before he retires.
9052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 216: Ferguson vs Lee Info and Prediction Thread on: October 09, 2017, 12:04:41 AM
Tony Ferguson fought Kevin well but he got hit a few times with strong punches in the head because of his carelessness. He cannot be that overconfident versus Conor if he gets a real title shot. Conor can knock him out in the 1st round. I see some people in the thread are making the mistake in thinking  that Conor is avoiding fights in MMA after his boxing match.
9053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 216: Ferguson vs Lee Info and Prediction Thread on: October 08, 2017, 02:09:29 AM
@notserp. Why Kevin Lee? Are you only guessing and choosing blind or is there something you saw or know that made that decision?

Tony is the best in the division and will not lose to someone like Kevin Lee, I reckon.
9054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 08, 2017, 01:54:23 AM
I do not know why there are some Aeon holders thinking of dumping them now. This is the highest price range that Aeon has ever reached in its history. We should be celebrating and put smooth on a chair, lift him up and walk him around like what they do in Jewish weddings.

9055  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-08] Bitcoin Mining Next Frontier for Japanese Financial Institutions on: October 08, 2017, 01:36:49 AM
China's intolerance on bitcoin and other cryptocoins has opened opportunities for Japan to go in and shake their dominance in the mining space. China was in a good position to dominate the stage and would have continued to do so if they had a supportive government.

I speculate that China and the PBOC will retract and change their statement by the end of 2017.

According to Asia Nikkei, the Japanese financial sector is considering a very surprising plan of action as of right now. More specifically, it is looking into setting up its own cryptocurrency mining operation in the near term. This initiative was apparently fueled by sudden decisions made by GMO Internet and SBI Holdings. No one can deny Japan has become a regional hub for Bitcoin-related activity, as the country successfully took over from China in this regard.

Setting up a mining venture is not all that easy, mind you. There are a lot of requirements which must be met in order to do so, let alone do so profitably. Without access to proper mining hardware and cheap electricity, not much will happen. Thankfully, it is possible there are some solutions in this regard, even though we may not see a Japanese ASIC manufacturer pop up all of a sudden either. It would be rather promising to see some more competition in the ASIC space, though.

9056  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-06] Over 10 000 people want BTC and LTC payments in Amazon on: October 07, 2017, 01:13:51 AM
The petition does not mean anything. It can be cheated by hiring a service like the same service that has been farming bitcointalk accounts.

If you really want to start buying items online with bitcoin, use Openbazaar. I heard version 2 is good.
9057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar (STR) what do you think? on: October 07, 2017, 12:18:40 AM
There was some rumor floating around that a big investment group/newsletter said that it was a good buy.     I think people are just buying the rumor.     I hope it keeps going up,  but it's been pretty flat for a while.    Kind of seems like a pump and dump - but who knows.

Rumors always pump the price but what we are really invest in is the technology behind a cryptocoin. So what makes Stellar a better investment than Ripple? I reckon those 2 platforms have the same codebase in the beginning. But what has Stellar been doing that is different? How does both reach consensus and who does it better?
9058  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: October 06, 2017, 11:57:40 PM
Before the update, I never had any problems with them. I am sure the delays have something to do with the new version. Maybe they are using mixin 0 when sending the coins, they should be using mixin 2 as recommended by smooth.

Try sending a message to their support to inform them to use mixin 2.

@jbmustaq. Please be mindful of the request smooth made to the exchanges to require more confirmations. In some cases, your transaction might take +5 hours before they appear in your account.

Did HitBTC give you a transaction ID?

Do South Korean exchanges and traders really lead this rally? I reckon it is Hong Kong based Bitfinex who is leading this rally. Most of the pumps are coming from them and they lead all the other exchanges in volume.

It could be that Chinese traders have now started using Bitfinex.
