9081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: October 03, 2021, 03:26:02 AM
I would add game Croatia vs Slovakia. Croatia is currently sitting on top of the group with Russia second and both have 13 points. Slovakia is third with 9 points and for Croatia this is a chance to increase the point difference. Ideal outcome of this round for Croatia would be to beat Cyprus on Friday and that Slovakia beat Russia on that day. Of course, then Croatia must beat Slovakia on Monday.

We will see. Things are getting interesting as the end of qualifications is approaching. If I'm not wrong, there is only one round left (with two games for each team) after this round.

I believe that Russia is a stronger team when compared to Slovakia. So it is possible for Russia to get two wins from their matches. Now Cyprus is a team that is well known for making upsets, so it is not going to be easy for Croatia. Both Russia and Croatia are having 13 points (Croatia having a one goal net difference when compared to Russia). So how these two teams perform next week will decide who will top the Group H. I don't think that now it is possible for either Slovakia or Slovenia to garner enough points to climb to the second position.
9082  Economy / Economics / Re: China Is making Fuds Since 2017, But BTC Always Gone higher on: October 03, 2021, 03:15:04 AM
I have read reports claiming that after three decades of experimentation with capitalism, the CCP want to go back to pure socialism (like the one which exists in Cuba and North Korea). Their adoption of capitalism resulted in an improvement in the living standards for 99% of the citizens, but some of the CCP officials believe that it has resulted in weakening of their power and dominance over the population. They believe that the economy has reached a point where it can sustain even under a socialist system. Only time will tell whether this is going to be a massive misstep or not.
9083  Economy / Economics / Re: E-Naira: CBN to launches Nigeria’s digital currency on: October 03, 2021, 03:05:20 AM
The only way the E-naira can get adoption massively is if the nigerian government force an adoption plan on the citizens of Nigeria, If not I don't think it will be adopted, nigerian aren't fools we know how bad the leadership is, at least to the level of not trusting the potential of the E-naira for now, but an excited for one thing the government noticing nigerians are crypto-enthusiast and even after a ban we didn't become any less than we were, so I think the E-naira is the government failed attempt on controlling our enthusiasm in crypto-currency.

The most important thing to remember here is that the e-NGN is not supposed to replace NGN. On the other hand, the Nigerian government is hoping that it will replace Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The government is definitely going to force it's imposition upon the users (if not today, then it is definitely going to happen at some time later). The governments in third world and authoritarian nations have this false thinking that if they force someone to use a particular asset, then they would do that. But what they are forgetting is that times have changed and people are not ready to accept such directives from the government.
9084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 03, 2021, 02:55:08 AM
This was totally unexpected from RR. I was confident that this would be a one sided match after CSK scored 189. RR were able to reach that score with 15 balls left. Jaiswal scored 50 runs in just 21 balls, great batting.

The two CSK opening bowlers failed miserably (Sam Curran and Josh Hazlewood). They conceded a combined 109 runs in their 8 overs. Shardul Thakur bowled well, but he didn't received any support from the other bowlers. The absence of Deepak Chahar (rested?) made the difference in yesterday's match. He was the most reliable bowler for CSK and they depended on him to take early wickets. Also, yesterday it was surprising to see Samson scoring runs (relatively) slowly, while Shivam Dube blasting the bowlers from the other end.
9085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 03, 2021, 02:45:32 AM
Pakistan is not even competitive in Test and ODI, in T20 they can be competitive. I would like to see a series between Bangladesh and Pakistan and that would be a competitive match, but if they play against Australia, New Zealand and England there is no competition Cheesy.

Australia is a shadow of their former self. I agree that India, New Zealand and England are at the top now. The gap between them and the smaller boards like PCB and WICB are increasing because of the stark difference in revenues and the lack of availability of players due to their role in franchise T20 leagues. But for Australia, the plus point is that they probably have the strongest domestic cricket system in the world. On the other hand, for teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the domestic system is very poor.
9086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Suggest Me some altcoins which could be 40x to 50x within next 4/5 years. on: October 02, 2021, 04:27:50 AM
If you want that sort of returns, then I would strongly suggest you to invest in some of the fourth generation blockchain projects that are currently in development. I don't think all of them may be successful, but those which makes the cut may return you anywhere from 100x to 1,000x returns. A few that comes to my mind are Tezos, Enigma, Oasis, AvaCoin and AlgoRand. I have no idea how much will be the success rate. But hopefully if you invest in 10 projects, at least 2-3 may give you good return by 2025.
9087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Dogecoin Is Crypto's Most Dangerous Joke on: October 02, 2021, 04:15:05 AM
I agree with all of the major points put forward by the OP:

Quote
1. Almost no one's using Dogecoin, but the currency still undergoes huge swings.
2. A very small group of large holders have outsized influence over Dogecoin's price.
3. Investors who buy in chasing monster gains may come to regret it.

Personally I don't know anyone who has used Dogecoin as a mode of payment. On the other hand, I know people who have made payments with BTC, BCH, ETH, USDT, ADA, BNB, ETC, XMR and XLM. But not even once I heard of anyone making payments using DOGE. And I have been using cryptocurrency for more than 7 years. I am yet to come across any online store, that accept Doge as a mode of payment. The current valuation doesn't make any sense, and IMO it represents an overvaluation of 1,000x.
9088  Economy / Economics / Re: Chinese loans leaves many countries in "hidden debts" on: October 02, 2021, 04:05:09 AM
China has been playing the long game for decades, and this is just another chapter in it.  They're attempting to remake the world financial order by developing the satellite economies that will be tightly aligned and reliant on China, as a counterweight to the US-dominated financial system that the US has used to its geopolitical advantage for the last hundred years.

China is just doing what the colonial powers have been doing since the mid 20th century, when the former colonies got their independence. These newly independent countries need investment and China has been able to provide that at rates and terms which are much more attractive when compared to those offered by the western countries. Americans and Europeans are complaining, just because they can't get access to the natural resources from these countries at dirt cheap rates, like they did before.
9089  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: October 02, 2021, 03:50:45 AM
Covid makes it difficult for everyone, in my country there is often a lockdown that makes the economy stop, many companies are closed so unemployment continues to grow, the presence of a vaccine has not been able to overcome covid, I'm afraid if this is not finished this year there will be bigger economic problems.

With every passing day, it is becoming clear that vaccines have only limited efficacy against the COVID 19 virus. Countries like the UAE, Portugal, Spain and Singapore have vaccinated almost all of their adult population (~100% coverage). But all these countries are reporting large spike in new infections and deaths from COVID 19. The perfect example is that of the United States. 55% of the population fully vaccinated, and yet they are reporting ~2,000 deaths per day now. They haven't given a breakdown of how many of these deaths are among the fully vaccinated people, and that makes me even more suspicious.
9090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Arizona has legalized fantasy sports betting! on: October 02, 2021, 03:35:26 AM
I thought that sports betting was legal across the United States. So I was wrong about it. But then another question arises. How they are going to calculate the tax, if the sportsbook is not mandating KYC for its users? Unless the user himself mentions about it in his tax return, the IRS may be unaware of these transactions. And it gets really complicated, because many of the sportsbooks are based in off-shore tax havens such as Dominica and Cayman Islands and they are not required to provide any information to the US authorities.
9091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 02, 2021, 03:25:08 AM
There were no death threats and nothing anything serious related to this all just all hype on social media and some internal politics of few countries because now recently ECB chief already apologies even it's all now just formality but good thing Pakistan announces now they will never play on neutral venue, Right now talk of town is Afghanistan as few countries feeling serious humiliation with their defeat and using their own tactics but this all will end soon. Pakistan is good for cricket because few cricket boards already announces they are ready for tour of Pakistan, but now authorities will announce all details after Twenty/20 world cup.

The Asian countries (I mean Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and definitely not India) may be open to the idea of touring Pakistan. But after the pullout by both CNZ and ECB, I don't think that any of the SENA nations would agree to tour Pakistan. PCB is back to the position where they were one and half decades ago, when they had to organize tours from smaller countries like Kenya and Zimbabwe to show that it is safe to conduct cricket matches in Pakistan. I don't foresee a quick resolution to this crisis any time soon.
9092  Economy / Economics / Re: E-Naira: CBN to launches Nigeria’s digital currency on: October 02, 2021, 03:15:36 AM
To be honest Nigeria has a lot of other problems that need solving before people can trust it enough to run a competent cryptocurrency system. There is little need for yet another altcoin and it might be vulnerable to outside manipulation because it does not have the scale to thwart attacks. It would have been much better to simply focus on building a competitive crypto exchange that allowed people to store and withdraw funds, without trying to cash in on a new clone. I have a feeling that this will fade into obscurity, however the original founders will obviously cash out a portion as soon as it is available. Unfortunately the government in this country has a long way to go before it is trusted to manage such a program.

They could have just followed the example set by El Salvador. Millions of Nigerians are working as expats abroad, and they face crippling commissions while sending remittance payments back home (5% to 15% of the total amount). If the government think that they'll just use e-NGN all of a sudden, then they're mistaken. Despite hard push by the Chinese government, the e-CNY (CBDC from China) is yet to make any progress on its goal of replacing Bitcoin. And the Nigerian government can't even afford to take the steps which are taken by the Chinese dictatorship, which dims the prospects of e-NGN even further.
9093  Economy / Economics / Re: US with problems to raise the debt ceiling... again on: October 02, 2021, 03:05:17 AM
Contrary to what being posted here, it is the "liberal" wing of the Democrat party that is responsible for the current impasse. The GOP is ready to vote for the bill, but the ultra-left wing led by Pramila Jayapal want the $3.5 trillion bill on welfare to be passed first. They have threatened that they will not allow this bill to pass, unless the other one is tabled first. Despite all that, the media is painting a picture of GOP blocking the bills and bringing the United States closer to a default. Hardly anyone want to talk about Pramila Jayapal, Ilhan Omar and the ultra-leftists who are responsible for the current crisis.
9094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 02, 2021, 02:55:09 AM
The ICC gives preference to national duty because that is how they earn money. I am not sure how much they earn with these franchise cricket.  The shorter format has attracted many viewers to the game and there is no debate on that.

The ICC neither benefits from the franchise leagues, nor from the bilateral tours. Their revenue comes only from world cups and other tournaments that are organized by the ICC. So for the ICC, it is meaningless to get involved in this mess and it needs to be sorted out between the players and the board. My opinion is that the players have the option to chose. The so called "national boards" are private entities and they are not owned by the government. Playing for these boards is akin to working in a private enterprise.
9095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 02, 2021, 02:45:44 AM
Eventually, the PBKS team was able to win against KKR. KKR lost this match due to their bowling in today's match. I don't understand why Shakib Al Hasan is not being given a place in the squad even after being in the team. Narine is not performing as expected. Southee bowled very poorly today. Management should give Shakib a chance.

Only 4 overseas players can be included. One of their best bowlers can't be included (Lockie Ferguson), because spots were taken by Tim Southee and Sunil Narine. Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell make up for the remaining spots (they included Tim Seifert in the place of Russell yesterday). If Shakib has to be included, then the captain himself needs to drop out. Otherwise the bowlers are in very good form (Narine, Ferguson, Southee). Also, there is no room for an allrounder, as Venkatesh Iyer is doing an amazing job right now.
9096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of meme coins like dogecoin, dogebnb, shib, etc. on: October 01, 2021, 04:49:13 AM
Just like any hype, whether in crypto or outside crypto, it is bound to die off sooner than later. It's a life axiom and there is nothing you can do about it. NFTs appealed mostly to celebrities who saw it as a quick profit scheme and they made their money off the hype, and that would be it. So my advice, pull out when you can. It's not a long term thing

You can't be sure about it. In such case, shitcoin such as Doge should not exist by now. It was created just to mock the idea of cryptocurrency in 2013. It has not only survived, but also managed to accrue a market cap of tens of billions of USD. If it was just a fluke, then it could have survived only for a few months and not for this long. But over the years, a large number of celebrities have been pumping the coin for their own benefit and this has made Doge as one of the top-10 cryptocurrencies. Latest is Elon. Let's see whether it works in long term.
9097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Gas Fee is too High? on: October 01, 2021, 04:00:45 AM
Are you sure about this? I think gas fees were already high before the issue of China banned crypto mining. The number of transactions that are increasing massively probably can be one of the factors to trigger the expensive gas fees. But it is only my guess, not really sure whether it has a big influence or not, for the gas fee price. Well, let's just wait for what Vitalik and his team do, to deal with the expensive gas fees.

Don't think that the China issue had a big impact, but it played some part in the higher transaction fee. Even before the latest move from China, there were two separate instances when there were localized closing down of mining farms in two provinces (first Inner Mongolia and then Xinjiang). But the core reason for the high gas price is lack of scalability from Ethereum. The developers are not interested in finding a permanent solution and they always go for patchwork that lasts a month or two. Also, they now seems to have realized that most of the projects will remain in the ERC-20 chain, even if the gas prices climb to unmanageable levels.
9098  Economy / Economics / Re: Future economic fear of the rich and poor. on: October 01, 2021, 03:50:26 AM
Agreed, because in the poor one, it would be do or die. We all know that if we invest as poor people, we will think four times because if we lose this money, we will have nothing to do but cry. Rich people, on the other hand, have extra money to cover their losses, but the lesson is that if you take a risk, you can get the gold; imagine those successful and wealthy people who were at the bottom at first, but risked everything to get to the top, and now you can see them in good shape; it is better to risk than never.

Not all of the rich people got in to that position because they took risk. There are some who inherited their wealth. Then there are a few who got their wealth through unethical means (such as bribes, crimes.etc). But I agree that a large chunk of them are rich, because they took the risk at an early stage of their life. But that doesn't necessarily mean that whomever taking the risk will get rich. Look at the state of ICOs now. The success rate has dipped below 5%. And that doesn't mean that if you invest in 20 projects, you will get one successful project. For some people, it may be 0 out of 20. For some others, it may be 2-3 out of 20. In the end, luck also matters.
9099  Economy / Economics / Re: China Is making Fuds Since 2017, But BTC Always Gone higher on: October 01, 2021, 03:41:21 AM
China is a big influenced country and it keeps manipulating the market in the previous years. But i think this time, the market is not affected that much as it is before. There might be minor dumps but we have seen that the market is starting to recover again. So maybe in the later part, China will not affect the market anymore. And as the adoption of bitcoin continues, there will more bigger countries who will start to backed up bitcoin and support it all the way. Whatever China plans in the market for their own advantage, it will never be as relevant as it was.

Your conspiracy theories doesn't make any sense and actually they sound laughable. The intention from Chinese regime is not to manipulate the cryptocurrency market, but to protect its fiat economy and national currency from the aggression by Bitcoin. Already China is having one of the highest cryptocurrency trading volumes in the world and a lot of investors have used it as a medium to move their funds abroad. At least the younger generation prefers cryptocurrency over other overpriced assets, and the regime views it as a threat to the national economy.
9100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 01, 2021, 03:30:17 AM
My point is that there must be some regulation that national side schedule should not be disturbed by any league just like we see in other sports. In the end its the national side that highlights the player to be picked by T20 Leagues. How many players are picked up in leagues that haven't played any international cricket? So boards have the right to made it compulsory for players to remain available for national side. Its board that should decide not the players.

Such a rule will not work, as already posted previously.

The player will simply refuse to enter in to a contract with the national cricket board. Look at all the South African players. They refuse contracts from CSA, and now play domestic cricket in England, New Zealand or the United States due to the quota policy. And as long as they are not contracted, the national cricket board can't do anything against them. But if a player is contracted, then obviously he needs to follow whatever the board tells him. If the board ask him not to play in any of the franchise leagues, then he doesn't have any other choice but to follow that.
