9081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you keep your bitcoins? on: April 04, 2017, 10:25:14 AM
I think it's the question how much bitcoins you own.
If your fortune ain't that big, I think an online wallet is enough.
If you have more coins, a cold storage might be a solution to think about.
The OP said that he wants to buy bitcoin for a couple of thousands USD. So, I guess, the sum is quite big. I heard that offline wallet is safer but I personally trust Blockchain wallet. You just need a good password and then it's pretty safe. I know a person with 1 btc in this online wallet and he trusts it as well. The problem with a cold wallet is that if something happens to your computer, you may say goodbye to your money, whereas with online wallet you get access anywhere.
9082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coins to invest in for future use rather than pump and dump on: April 03, 2017, 08:46:41 AM
Firstly, I'd like to say that I think we are wrong if we want to earn money and care whether the coin is 'pump and dump' or not. As the coin is starting to pump, one can buy it and than check the price every 12 hours. In case the price is still growing, nothing should be done, just keep checking the price. If the price goes 10% off on coinmarketcap - time to withdraw.
Secondly, although many say ETH is pump and dump, I really believe in this coin more than is any other and think it deserves to be in the list of good investments.
9083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Dogecoin have a future? on: April 03, 2017, 08:35:14 AM
Dogecoin is an inflationary coin. While it may have a stable price and be very useful in micro-transaction, it is unlikely to attract speculative investors. So the price is not likely to take off.
Inflation is something we consider to be bad for a coin as there are ways in cryptoworld to avoid it. Nevetheless, the real money we all use most of our time is all inflationary and we seem to be okay with it. What is really good about doge is that it can not face a fork problem. And this is what may make it popular in the future in case bitcoin and ethereum suffer from a hard fork.
Oh, and you were saying that doge price is not likely to grow much but it is growing as we are talking. Almost +50% for the past 24 hours.
9084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What does cryptocurrency mean to you? on: April 03, 2017, 08:21:11 AM
In generally you just need to read more. All answers are already written.

1. Value is always as much buyer and seller value it. Most current crypto coins value is speculative. Tiny bit is real.  Specially ICO coins was issued with different reason. More liek a share of a project then an actually money.   So you need to ask yourself this question at exact currency.

2. Cryptocurency have no ethic. It is money. Money have no ethic.  People that are using money have them. If they dont respect society or laws is ofcourse bad. They will get punished for it sooner or latter. I am sure everyone was already taught this.

3. It is simple they just will. Now since is so new ofcourse dont fit so well. Structure will modify to accept it. Most think that with crypto is end of governments collecting taxes. that si far from true. They will just adopt to collect them where tehy can. And they will be happy doing it since there wil be way more GDP to collect taxes from.
I almost agree about the first one but I would say the value is never real. Well, we can consider the price of electricity and miners and calculate the 'real value' but it doesn't matter at all. As for the second one, the money itself has no ethics. Nevertheless, the users' behaviour leaves some trace on the currency which can be considered as the currencie's ethics. For instance, btc ethics was really bad when it became popular as it was highly involved in the dark market business. Litecoin is rather famous as a casino cryptocurrency than dark market one, so its ethics is a bit better and so on.
9085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC is the next pump, buy before moon landing!!!!! on: April 03, 2017, 08:07:54 AM
Putting everything into one coin is too risky. You need to diversify in case LTC crashes for example. Its a gamble so don't risk what you can't afford to lose!
Sure. I totally agree with this. Yes, litecoin is 10% up in the price. Perhaps you should invest some money right now and sell when it starts falling down. But there are other coins which go up and down every day. You should consider investing in coins like Steam, Wevas, Stratis and so on as a really short-term investment and in Ethereum (when the price will become around $30), Bitcoin (still the best, we shpuld forget it), Dash/Zcash/Monero/Byteball.
9086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Swiscoin insane peak, what happened? on: April 03, 2017, 07:55:52 AM
As the coin is probably Russian or even Ukrainian, there is some potentially useful information to answer this question. Swiscoin is not just a coin but an organization which studies different cuurencies and tries to create some new improvement technologies. The CEO of this organization is Dm.Zubarenko who owns a company in Ukraine named "Communication and technologies" which helps people with phone connections. So, he probably just pumped the coin recently to draw attention to it.
9087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [vDice.io]►Ethereum Blockchain Gambling►►**New & Awesome Version of Site on: April 03, 2017, 07:39:39 AM
I believe it is great that there is such a project of promoting ethereum. Although it is one of the best cryptocurrencies, casinos sometimes prefer doge and ltc instead of it. I think those who say that ethereum is 'pump and dump' are totally wrong and a site where people may gamble based on eth platform is something which can support the coin, increase the price and show others the possibilities the platform provides us all with, even comparing to bitcoin where it is even hardly possible to perform smart contracts.
9088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan to accept Bitcoin as payment method. on: April 02, 2017, 09:22:02 AM
the first japan bill containing virtual currencies is expected to come on april which recognizes bitcoin as a method of payment.Although,it doesnot define bitcoin as a legal currency,it is still considered as a remarkable progress for bitcoin in japan.Hope, most of tourists who would go to japan to see 2020 olympics would be able to pay in bitcoins.
What is meant by it being a paying method but not a legal currency? So, can you buy a ticket or rent a flat using bitcoin? Or perhaps a private company may decide to accept btc but governmental institutions can not?
Japan is a progressive country, so it is likely for it to accept innovations.
9089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin has potential. Beyond $50? on: April 02, 2017, 09:12:36 AM
I think lite pin is the first and the best btc clone, so it may become great again. At least, it is protected from inflation.
Okay, so they are built on the same platform and are very alike. You say one can't go up without another one. But btc is now above a thousand and litecoin has a really low price. How is possible? I believe the connection is not as strong as you say it is.
9090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum classic vs Ethereum on: April 02, 2017, 09:03:49 AM
Don't know what to tell you, think of china and the rest of the world ( excluding africa ). Almost everything is copied by the chinese, from handbags to entire towns even, no innovation whatsoever. ETC is china.

So there's no real point to it? Just cheaper
No. As far as I remember, ETC is also built on the ethereum platform but it has faced a hard fork, so the coin was nearly killed and that's why the price is that small. ETH is a new version on the same platform. And I think that it has some code improvements but perhaps I'm wrong. So, it seems to me that etc is something btc would become in case of the hard fork and eth is like the potential bytecoin.
9091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I bought coins that are now expired... on: April 02, 2017, 08:47:55 AM
I am confused, i supposed that alt coin wont never be expired, the only thing can happened is the coin remove from the list and the value become zero, if you bought that coin then you can say goodbye to your coin, unless you try to promote and asked other people to used the coin so it can be revive
We have to wait till OP explains what he meant to give advice on the case but I tend to think he means that the coin became worthless. And thus OP is wondering whether the coin had a chance to grow again and is anybody interested in buying a worthless coin. And in this case it all depends on the coin itself.
9092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone believe the hype that Ether is the next big thing? on: April 02, 2017, 08:40:23 AM
I don't but I own some just in case.  Wink
I do and keep some as well. Why not to believe in it? Eth definitely doesn't look like a shitty coin. And perhaps there is some "pump" but without "dump". It is supported by IBM and Microsoft, but it ain't a btc clone and it does open some opportunities closed to bitcoin. I believe it can become one of the best coins
9093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's wrong with this thinking process on: March 29, 2017, 08:30:08 AM
...why this thinking is extremely naïve and wrong?

This is.

You have a LOT of research ahead of you.
Yes, I think we can't really treat coins worth less than dollar as coins. They are very weak and unlikely to grow in price a lot. It is better to choose from the coins already growing and costing at least a few dollars. And all this is not a long-term investment anyway, so one has to be very attentive on the price changes if investing is worthless coins. You can still lose quite a lot of money out of imagining what big sums you can earn.
9094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darknet market plans to accept ETH. on: March 29, 2017, 08:17:11 AM
I have read an article about the darknet market called Alphabay that they will start accepting ETH. The article said that it will start accepting it on May 1. I got curious and made an Alphabay account and I was surprised that there are some vendors already accepting it.

How does the ETH community feel about it? Why would Alphabay start supporting a coin from a smart contract platform? Will they make a transition and build their service on top of Ethereum in the future?
Why not to accept such a currency? I believe on darkmarkets people don't steal money often. They just do the business and have income. I believe smart contract can make the procedure of buying and selling goods easier and even a new seller may become immediately trustworthy since one can't do anything about a smart contract.
For ethereum this will have a positive impact, because the demand will grow along with the price but the reputation might become a bit spoiled as well.
9095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Bitcoin be replaced, at least temporarily, by Ether? on: March 29, 2017, 07:41:47 AM
Honestly, I don’t think so in the short term. Add Coke has always tasted better to me. If there is a BTC fork, one coin will be the dominate one, and that coin should continue to lead the crypto space.
Well, as for me, bitcoin could become equal with eth in case of the fork, because the btc price would drop and eth's might grow a lot. However, I guess now there is no threat of hard fork, is it? People have been discussing the danger for about a week but nothing happened. Is there some time that has to pass before we can say that the expectations failed? How does it work, really?
9096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum pump and advertising campaign on: March 29, 2017, 07:30:58 AM
To be fair, ethereum has been doing unexpectedly well recently. I remember saying it would never recover from the etc fiasco. How wrong I was, since ethereum has generally been pretty stable, I doubt anyone's pumped a billion dollars worth of it. Also, the integration on dark net markets also probably helps.
Well, it was indeed doing well but not really unexpected. At least, for me it wasn't. When I saw eth slowly starting to grow with the price $16, I bought some immediately, because I watched a video explaining what is good about ethereum. And yeah, I also don't think it is really just pumped. I think it is quite self-sufficient. Dark markets will increase the usage but will also bring some bad reputation since those who are new don't think much that money is always involved in such activities.
9097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about future of Monero? on: March 29, 2017, 07:17:44 AM
I purchased it $24 but do i must hold or, sell it and buy another?

I also think if btc go to hell, than china money would be invested in Monero, because their money is black money.

what do you think?
Well, buying it for $24 was too much. Now monero is decreasing in price, but I think it is better for you to hold and hope for something good. There aren't many people who think Monero is a completely useless coin, it can solve some problems other currencies can't. Like security issues, as was stated above in this thread. I personally see nothing attractive in Monero but admit that the currency deserves better than it has now.
9098  Economy / Economics / Re: Can some one please explain what is the Hard Fork, and if is good for BTC. on: March 28, 2017, 08:35:10 PM
I was reading about it when people started talking recently about bitcoin having big chances to face it. As far as I understood, we have now 1 unified blockchain which is, as we can see from the word itself, the chain of blocks of btc which come all from mining. Miners and btc users confirm that the btc is used in this or that transaction and also can't be used twice this way. Fork is a case in which the chain splits into two chains and thus they both exist for some time and it's up to miners and users to choose one of them. And for bitcoin this would mean a threat of price going down for quite a time till it manages to recover.
9099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what situation would Bitcoin die? on: March 28, 2017, 08:27:06 PM
Well I think bitcoin would only die if everybody would stop using it,
As we all know it only have a value because of the stocks and demands.
This of course makes sense. However, the reasons for people to stop using it may differ a lot. It can be some better technology appearing or bitcoin facing huge security problem that will destroy it. It may also happen in case something really bad for humanity and Earth happens, because people are likely to stop trusting what they can't percieve immedeately by senses in such a situation. I think btc will never die just like gold doesn't. Or, rather, it will die along with humanity.
9100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will price of some Altcoins exceed 1000$ this year? on: March 28, 2017, 08:15:07 PM
Probably one of them can reach the target!
As some altcoins are not only dependent on demand and offer but are also regulated in a way by different campaigns, it is quite possible for some coin to reach a 'false' $1k. And I think that in about 5 years a couple of the best altcoins may reach the real $1000 price. I bet on Ethereum and Bytebal but who knows what the future will bring us. What can suddenly change the price of alts (but not THAT much that they reach $1000) is bitcoin suffering from a hard fork (if that will ever happen).
