9101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin during lockdown ? on: April 15, 2020, 11:40:22 AM
For example, if someone promotes their Ledger ref link, they will get 10% for each sale which is $6.5 for each Nano S, or $16 for current Ledger Bundle Pack (S+X model). For those who create their own web pages and know how to promote them, affiliate business is one of the options how to start making money.

Affiliate links are also not for everybody. I've posted myself ref links for Ledger here and there, but nobody bought from my referral.
I think that has to either be some kind of influencer, either have a blog that's read a lot.

As you said, they have to know what they're doing. So it's already close to any job, not necessarily related to Bitcoin.
9102  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin during lockdown ? on: April 15, 2020, 10:01:33 AM
I'd personally advise anybody to stay away from micro-earnings, bounty's, gambling, HYIP's, ponzi's, refferal link posting, browser mining,... You either pollute the community, get scammed or earn (allmost) nothing

I'll add cloud mining and even CPU mining to the list. And warn the laptop mining is also a bad idea.

Could you advise me some easy and non-committal ways

You should treat Bitcoin like money / asset. So the best ways to get Bitcoin is to work for it or work for money and exchange/invest into Bitcoin.
9103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if BTC never reaches all time high? on: April 15, 2020, 08:06:54 AM
For me, I think if bitcoin never reaches the all time high, mass adoption wouldn't be developed and the reason why people are investing in bitcoin is because they saw that bitcoin can change people's lives.

So you mean that the only reason for Bitcoin adoption is speculation? Aren't you a bit harsh?
One great thing Bitcoin can bring is to avoid the need to exchange money in all the local currencies and pay with Bitcoin.
Another great thing is money transfer way faster than any banks would ever do.
Also don't forget its main feature: set you free from centralized and politically manipulated fiat currency.
All of these mean nothing to you?!

Its price is volatile in the market it goes down and it goes up and that's what makes bitcoin very hard to manipulate.

Don't you think that this up and down can be the result of some manipulations and can make some traders very rich?

The price is really unpredictable and it takes a great prediction and strategy for you to prevent having huge losses, but it still depends on how you can recover from that losses.

It's hard to predict, but professional traders may do it. Trading is not for everybody and many treat is like lottery.

Overall, bitcoin is really a good store of value, it can bring you a huge amount of profit when its price is in its peak. You're so lucky if you experienced the all time high of bitcoin as it is like a lucky day for all of us who uses it.

Many bought at peak. I would not call them lucky. And Bitcoin as store of value is quite a debate which is affected a lot by its huge volatility.

All in all, I think that you should read more. Many of the things you wrote are incorrect.

―Anne Frank

Background

9107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keyless encryption and passwordless authentication on: April 14, 2020, 10:02:57 AM
Authentication without a password does not mean that you do not have a password.
I take it it it's not clear, what's the difference and what's new with this technology?

What's new here is that you only use a password once when you register on a site (like a site).
Password, of any complexity - for a site always looks different for you, it looks like a digital code. And the numerical code - by appearance of which it is impossible to find out your password.

I still don't see how is this better than 2FA.
The secret password/seed is needed and one more "derivation" component based on time is necessary.
The problem of 2FA is the way it's usually implemented and used, favoring the secret password/seed being stored on vulnerable devices. But nowadays there are hardware devices handling that too.
9108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: STABLECOINS CAN STOP HYPERINFLATION? on: April 14, 2020, 08:33:30 AM
You made a very cogent point here that all should consider keenly:

Thank you.

1. Do you Stablecoins backed by other assets is not different from altcoins and bitcoin in terms of volatilities?

Properly backed stable coins are not much different from the assets used for backing them (no big relation to Bitcoin).
They are usually different from Bitcoin and altcoins. They are usually backed by fiat currencies where the supply is not finite, while Bitcoin supply is finite and rather small.
This means that the value of fiat currencies usually decreases over time (inflation) giving the impression the value of Bitcoin is rising.

What I said was that if only properly backed coins would be used to buy Bitcoin its volatility could be smaller.
But the current high volatility is also caused by the fact Bitcoin (and altcoins too) is a young asset and its markets/exchanges are not properly regulated.

2. Why is the US dollar a fiat currency stable overtime? I believe one of the reasons is due to the backing of the gold standard.

US Dollar is far from being stable. What tricks you is the point of reference. Remember that ancient people thought that Earth sits and Sun is travelling around it.
US dollar is now about 20 times weaker than it was in 1800. See on this website the Year/Dollar Value table on that page. Or search for other ones, this was just a search result, I don't know how accurate it is, but you'll get similar results.

3. Don't you feel that a crytocurrencies backed by fiat currency like USD will be more stable than dollars?

In theory an USD backed stable coin has always the value of 1$, so it can't be more or less stable than dollar.
In reality some small fluctuations happen, but I think that the reasons are fees, supply issues and maybe bigger problems. I tend to avoid USD related stable coins because of this. They don't bring me any benefit if I don't arbitrage.

Although, the market force is a powerful market trend force.

Always keep this in mind, whether you talk about inflation, volatility, halving or speculation.
9109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: STABLECOINS CAN STOP HYPERINFLATION? on: April 14, 2020, 07:13:11 AM
First of all it's not inflation. Inflation would mean the value drops, which is not the case for Bitcoin and such.

Keep in mind that not all stable coins are the same. They are pegged to different "values" and they should be backed by an equivalent reserve of those "values".

But not all do this, most notable example is the well-known USDT/Tether which never allowed a trusted 3rd party make a proper audit, so it's safe to assume that their coin is not actually backed. And here the problems come.
If all the stable coins would be backed properly, they would not change anything at all in the price evolution of the main coins (the world would be the same - with or without them, they'd just make the arbitrage and other transactions faster).
But the not-backed stable coins are dangerous. They are "made of thin air" and transfer value into the hands of the issuer by "stealing" value from the actual coins (I'm not sure how to word it better).
9110  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-13] Coin Mixer’s Record Month Proves Bitcoin Users Want Anonymity on: April 14, 2020, 07:00:57 AM
It's very unfortunate that seeking privacy makes you a marked man.

Sometimes I feel like the entire society is just a glorified herd.
Yes, you're right, it's quite usual that the ones that "stand out" with their privacy settings get to be considered to "have something to hide" and the focus can get onto them. (It doesn't always happen like this though).

But this is imho related to the fact many can't comprehend others have different way of thinking and different reasons (the crypto example is that people may seek for mixers because they are not comfortable others peaking into their pockets; of course, there will always be the bad guys too using mixers).
9111  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: April 14, 2020, 04:49:11 AM
The reason for them asking about docs probably is triggered by something else, suspicious bitcoin deposits, suspicious payments flagged by really bad calibrated filters or something else.

Quite unlikely, since Bitcoin is quite low I didn't top up the card for some months and obviously I didn't use it much also.
But indeed, I can't rule out anything.
9112  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: April 13, 2020, 02:02:07 PM
5 lines of sql, let's be real  Cheesy

Since their Android app still tries to download the 2018 data (until it fails) instead of just getting at least the useful data (in reverse order by date) so the user can see what's most interesting... don't be surprised of anything, okay?  Wink
9113  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: April 13, 2020, 10:07:06 AM
I do not have a great deal of tolerance for it.

It could be Brexit related, they had their data in one bucket and now they have to separate UK and EU somehow. And there may be that they don't actually store the documents, 3rd party does the check and they only keep some small info ("ok" type flags) in their databases.
Of course this is speculation. The reality is that they're doing it rather unprofessional (but there's nothing new under the sun).

I've already argued with them when they've asked again for ID, weeks ago. Now they ask about address documents.

9115  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 13, 2020, 09:59:06 AM

It may be interesting to keep this safe and compare these numbers with what we'll have in.. let's say 2022.
I expect them look really ugly. So as already said, #BTFD.
9116  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Wirex- Bitcoin Debit Card | Buy Bitcoin | Mobile Banking | Send Money on: April 13, 2020, 09:47:54 AM
It may be of interest: Wirex started to ask again for verification documents for old/already verified accounts.
I don't mean to warn the scammers, but sometimes this can fail. So there's one more reason to not keep big money there and keep one more card at hand.
9117  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do we need Bitcoin if we have Litecoin? on: April 13, 2020, 08:36:38 AM
After all, litecoinis a fork of bitcoin, which means it is an improved version of it.

The fact you are telling something it doesn't make it true. The reality has already proven that Litecoin is not actually better than Bitcoin.
You should read more and you should cross check what others tell you. Beware, many tell online what suits them best, not actually the truth. Trust no one.
9118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for persons with a lot of BTC on: April 13, 2020, 07:21:17 AM
Indeed, super rich people will make queue to find a way to contact a newbie and tell about their wallet.
What planet are you from? You know that Bitcoin is money, right?

Sorry for the sarcasm, but really.. what you'd expect with such a request? If you'll receive anything it'll be from people owning exactly 0. Just make them sign a message from their alleged rich wallets  Wink
9119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ANYONE KNOW ABOUT YOBIT EXCHANGE AND THEIR YOBICODES? on: April 13, 2020, 07:15:49 AM
In that case, you have to wait so long till they change the maintenance mode. I think you have nothing to do. Have you tried to contact with yobit support.

Yobit support has quite of history of late responses / fixes (I've almost written "ignored tickets") so there's a high chance the maintenance will end before any answer actually comes.
I'd wait until maintenance ends or maybe ask also on shout box.
