9181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: June 08, 2013, 04:43:41 AM
On the bright side, possibly if the pay doesn't seem great people will not be as eager to write just for the sake of writing / for the sake of the money. I know I don't feel like oh gosh I have to write something else I am missing out on potential income, instead I now am more likely to only bother to write something when there is something that needs to be there. Instead of perusing my lists of pages looking for more gaps I can fill in I am now off doing other things and will probably only be posting to the devtome when something comes up that should have a devtome page about it.

For example right now I am looking into setting up an OpenSimulator server; if I get that running and some regions set up in it then maybe I will make a devtome entry about one or more of the regions.

Whereas when each share was a lot of money it constantly nagged at the back of my mind that really I should just try to think of something to write in devtome because that would pay better than whatever else I might consider doing with my time.

This is an excellent point as well, Smiley. My only fear is quality is going to drop considerably. There really needs to be someone (or a group) there to judge that.
9182  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New BTC Faucet Timer/Rotator! on: June 08, 2013, 04:41:22 AM
I got an invalid captcha error .

Invalid captcha would be on one of the faucets... I have no control over those. Sometimes the characters can be a bit hard to read, Sad. And I've had one or two (out of thousands) that don't take even when I have them perfect the first time.

Just for the record, you do NOT need to use case sensitive letters. Ex. "JrMnNkL" will work even if you type "jrmnnkl"
9183  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone making a killing out of free btc sites? on: June 08, 2013, 04:39:18 AM
I'm sorta addicted to the faucet sites.  I'm on a mission to see if I can actually accumulate a full bitcoin through the faucet sites.  It may be possible, but with just clicking, copying, pasting, and filling in the catpcas, it would probably take several months at least.

If you want a fast method, use http://coinfaucets.tk

It's an automatic timer/rotator so you can easily skip from one to the next without having to keep up with timers on your own. Increases productivity as a result, :p.
9184  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinURL sold to the new owner on: June 08, 2013, 04:38:03 AM
I dont think Google tells you how much they are pocketing, but last time I looked it up I saw estimates as high as 50%.

Anyways, are there restrictions on adult and gambling ads, or are they open to advertise as well? Because Google finding those types of ads on your site will hurt your sites ranking.

In case anyone else cares (I know it's an old post but the info is still good) Google takes 32% of the revenue for Adsense. The other 68% goes to the publisher.

I appreciate we could be getting into murky waters given my limited understanding of the Bitcoin principles and the uncharted territory of the Bitcoin future, so no more questions...

...just a reiteration that I'm very pleased to be a part of this developing technology and community and am very excited for the future prospects.

I think the implications are way beyond our wildest imaginations, and what with the advent of 3D printing, I'd say we are on the precipice of the dawn of a new age.

NP! And if you decide you want some free BTC (although it's pretty slow right now -- it will likely keep raising in value as time goes on) you can use an automatic timing rotator: http://coinfaucets.tk

It has many faucets in it and will let you skip from one to the next so it's pretty fast to run through them, and then it will show how long is left before their cooldowns are over so you don't have to keep up, Smiley.
9186  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello All on: June 08, 2013, 03:48:38 AM
Aaaaaaah, Ranlo.  Many thanks for this explanation.  So we are effectively charged a fee to attempt to solve a block and only the winner gets the block reward but also everyone else's 'post'.   Cool

EDIT:  So well after the last bitcoin has been mined, we will continue to develop faster and faster hardware so that we can take our competitors fee for our own?

This is a hard thing to answer. The value of BTC and the amount of fees being input are what will determine it. Some will find it to be worth $1 per block to let their miners continue, some don't even care about the rewards and will let it go regardless, and others won't do it without $50+ a block. Each person is different.
9187  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A need for a newbie donation on: June 08, 2013, 03:46:48 AM
The minimum payout seems to be a cent.

You could make more money gambling with btc...and with less effort. Not that I would recommend doing this, either...

They aren't bad if you do them passively. Each site takes 5-10s so you spend about a minute every hour or two. The good thing is that as BTC goes up in value, so will your earnings. So what is worth 13 cents today could very well be worth dollars later on.

But you can earn dollars now at minimum wage, put $1.00 into BCN and have money now later on have 7 times the 13 cents.

Those tini wini payouts are taking advantage of you.

Sorry, I figured the time I spend at work counts as earning money. Spending a minute every couple hours on the sites doesn't bother me at all. I usually do it while I'm watching tv. It's downtime regardless, so anything is better than nothing.
9188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: June 08, 2013, 03:45:35 AM
Not sure what you're talking about with the $2 an hour thing Vlad. I got 17.2 shares last round = ~6179641dvc = ~7.6btc = ~$823 at current exchange rates. Now, I posted some stuff I had written in the past, and I also got some shares for programming work (which actually took more time than writing), but assuming I had got those shares for writing 17k words, that'd mean I had spent over 400hrs, at ~40 words an hour. I definitely write faster than that!

I think if you're writing about something you know a lot about, 400 words an hour is a reasonable pace, which would give an estimate of about $20 an hour. Not bad for freelance writing. Granted, some people might write slower than that, and the exchange rate is crashing a bit, but it seems to me writing is still worth your while. I haven't had as much time this round to write (finals week in my university right now), and it is a bit discouraging seeing how many words the top writers have contributed, while I've only written about 4000. But even if there are twice as many shares that is still about $100! And I don't know about your situation, but as a college student, an extra $100 a month is very helpful. Smiley

That was last round. This current round is less than half that, and is expected to keep getting lower and lower.

All newbies should get a donation when they visit.

Use faucets like http://coinfaucets.tk

It handles all the timers for you to make it easier to go through a lot of faucets throughout the day. Easy free BTC, Smiley.

Forgive me for being a newb but... on the top picture, behind the driver's door, are those two openings for gas tanks? Or... what is the second one for?

Good catch ... I'm going to say:  gasoline / ethanol blend

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Drives/Search-Results/First-drives/Lotus-Exige-265E/

I've never heard of adding ethanol though... I think this would over-complicate the gasing process, lol.

Cool faucet, thanks!

No problem! Let me know if it gives you any issues, Smiley.

Fuck Lamborghini. Buy a lotus if you have money burning a hole in your pocket. This is called an exige btw if you wanted to look it up on google images.

wow sorry i wish i knew. my guess would be nitrous oxide.

Hmm, doesn't appear to be NOS. Searching online shows that the kits are separate.

This is really going to bother me, XD. I don't know what either of the symbols mean (above each tank) and I have no idea how to look them up.

Hey guys, feel free to use http://coinfaucets.tk

There are sites there that give some BTC up to once every 30m, and the site keeps up with all cooldowns and rotates the sites for you, Smiley.
9195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello All on: June 08, 2013, 12:53:32 AM
Thanks for your reply.  But where do the transaction fees come from?  If I'm mining and discovering a block that only pays me 12.5 btc, please explain how I could be making 27.5 btc including the transaction fees?

I have shares in ASICMINER-PT and Freidcat mentions the above figures.

Alright, what happens is this:

Right now the block reward is 25 BTC.
Let's say there are 50 transactions in the block and each of them paid a 0.001 BTC fee. This is 0.050 BTC

Whoever solves the block then gets 25.050 BTC.

Now, when the block reward (flat rate) no longer exists, transaction fees still will. So in the above example, you'd get 0.050 BTC for solving the block.

acs26 is a scammer. I already provided him a one month loan of one billion btc, and he hasn't paid back a single satoshi. Scammer, I say. SCAMMER!

Please remain calm, he told me he is meeting with some friends from "a galaxy far away" I am sure he will repay your loan

Yes, I recently got back from my meeting with Vikesland's space program, and also their Military. I've put a few fifty BitCoins to invest, and we'll also be getting funds from them. (About four BitCoins per day.)
And I've also invested in other things, that could total to forty million BitCoins each week.

I am sorry for that, as explained above. I have already paid back your loan, and have given you two extra BitCoins for your troubles. I have invested in a private island resort, and I would gladly invite you to a Sponsored Party. (18+ isn't needed, I will fly you via. my private jet. You can also bring family members, because my jet can hold 20+ including myself and my butlers.)

Just offer him a free cam show too. If it's anything like the one you gave me, he'll forget all about the debt!

is it legal though other like fedex, ups

If it illegal through USPS, it's illegal altogether. That's the whole point of "illegal."
its not illegal

It is if it's not shipped properly. Feces can contain a very wide variety of diseases. It's like shipping a bag of blood. If it's not properly packed, it's illegal.
9199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Asicminer Risk on: June 08, 2013, 12:40:35 AM
Do not buy ASICS. Take my advice and not lose money.

He wasn't talking about buying an ASIC, but rather investing in ASICMINER stock. Two very different things.
