922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoins do you own? on: June 08, 2011, 06:30:40 AM
Search engines might get reallllly good in the future. You're an idiot to say how many BTC you have, especially if they inflate 100x or more. Google caches everything, as do other crawlers.

Why are we idiots?

I suppose if you claimed to have 10k BTC, you might be a target. All it might take is some social engineering, exploit, or actual physical access. I know some digital gangsters who'd rob a guy for 10k BTC.

Yeah, but they have no idea whether your lying or not. And I know, Im a penetration tester haha.
923  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB bitcoin invite, - paying well! on: June 08, 2011, 06:29:31 AM
1btc = $27btc at the time of writing. Which im 99% sure isn't equal to 10 euros.

925  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Newbie with gear question on: June 08, 2011, 06:05:59 AM
Ok, let me start over now that I've read up a bit more...

How's this:

$169.99       890fxa-gd70
$149.99       Kingwin ABT-1000MA1S Mach 1 Modular Power Supply - 1000-Watt, ATX, SLI-Ready, Six 12V Rails, 80Plus
  $39.99       AMD SDX145HBGQBOX Sempron 145 Processor - 2.80GHz, Socket AM3, 1MB Cache, 2000MHz
  $12.97       1GB DDR3

$372.94        Total

Now for graphics....

1) Can I mix/match GPUs?
2) How about 'odd' numbers of cards (ie 3)?
3) What is your recommendation if I want to keep the GPU(s) under $800?

Thanks again.

Good.

1) Yes, but it might be more trouble than it's worth
2) Thats fine
3) 5830's if you can find them.

928  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: Mining Pool #2 Needs your webdesign skills | Send in your resume. on: June 08, 2011, 12:29:32 AM
Well I don't have any projects that aren't PHP, but I could do this pretty easily.

Do you have work PHP or not that you could show for?

Nothing that's not under a NDA, when I get home i'll whip something up and see if you like it. Smiley
929  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Corrupted wallet.dat - any way of repairing? on: June 07, 2011, 02:13:59 PM
Was bitcoin still running when you tried the dump?
No it wasn't, I'm not that stupid Smiley I did this on a virtual computer running Ubuntu Live CD.

I have a few hidden tricks up my sleeve for repairing corrupted wallets, but they're time consuming, so if you want I can try Smiley
930  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Corrupted wallet.dat - any way of repairing? on: June 07, 2011, 02:01:46 PM
I was able to get it working and ran it, but the program (dbdump.py) just says "Couldn't open wallet.dat/main, try quitting Bitcoin and running this again." Even tried fixwallet.py, but same result. I guess I just lost 20 BTC. Sad

If your giving up on it, PM me with your wallet file and i'll try and fix it, if I can i'll send most of it back to you Smiley You've got nothing to lose Tongue

932  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New Release! BitMiner - Advanced Miner GUI - Beta on: June 07, 2011, 12:58:07 PM
Ok, I have failover/fallover (w.e you wanna call it) working, you can now select another account that runs another miner when the first accounts miner fails.

Apart from the things on the checklist, anyone else have any suggestions?
Will release v0.2 in about ~12 hours if nothing else comes up. Cheesy

934  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is there anyone who can tell me about "Problems communicating with bitcoin RPC" on: June 07, 2011, 12:08:31 PM
Hey,
I'm new too.
I'm using the GUI miner - v20110521,
and while trying several pools, every time I try to set up one, I keep getting the same error message.
Is this something to do with network settings/firewall/or program settings ie the way it's configured?

Thanks in advance!

Forward port 8333 both ways on your router.
