921  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Using CirclePay to SAFELY short (hedge) Bitcoin: +1% from the get-go on: November 12, 2016, 11:28:20 AM
If I send 1 BTC to my Circle account, it is converted to USD.  If the price of btc is $715 my circle account has $715.

If btc price rises to $730 I still only have $715 at circle (usd).

Now, I don't have enough money to buy 1 BTC back in my circle account.

Then the btc price rises to $750.

OOPS, I shorted when I should have been long.  I cry myself to sleep at night.
922  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 100% tx fee upon a group of addresses: possible? on: November 12, 2016, 11:16:09 AM
1.  This is not an alternative to a black list is it a form of a black list in that you are asking all miners to treat certain transactions differently than other transactions.

2.  Your math is wrong.  Let's say I am the owner of the black listed coins.  All the miners have made an agreement to charge a 100% fee for transfers from the black listed addresses.  I want to send 100 of my blacklisted coins.  I enter a transaction for 100 coins from address A to address B.  A 100% fee requirement would mean that I would need to pay 100 coins for the fee.  A 200% fee requirement would mean I would need to add a 200 coin fee, etc.  I get to keep and transfer the 100 coins, you have just made if very expensive for me to do the transfer.

3.  You have made no changes to the protocol.  You just have a "gentlemen's agreement" between all miners.  Therefore a fee smaller than the 100% or 200% or whatever fee is still a valid transaction to all nodes.  Therefore if even one miner decides to break ranks and mine a block with only a 50% fee on the black listed transactions it will be a validated transaction.  If one miner takes the 50% fee there is nothing to prevent another miner from taking a 25% fee.  And so it goes...  All the other miners that still adhere to the agreement can chastise the miners that break the agreement but the fact is those that adhere to the agreement made no money and those that break the agreement make money.

So your statement
Miners would have all the interest to adhere to this update.
is not true.
923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Would you open a Bitcoin account at your local bank? on: November 12, 2016, 10:51:02 AM
If you deposit your hard earned Bitcoins into a Bank you have lent your Bitcoins to a third party.

You have just accepted an IOU from the bank which states you "have" that many Bitcoins on account at the bank.

You can now write checks on that amount which other people can accept as payment.  Is a Bitcoin check in the amount of 1.2345 BTC to someone actually Bitcoins?  The answer is no it is not. It is a promise to pay the bearer Bitcoins.  You have just recreated the use and acceptance of debt as money.

Not only that you have just lent your Bitcoins to an entity (bank) whose entire purpose is to lend out your Bitcoins to someone else and make a profit.  Their entire purpose is to recreate the fractional reserve banking system.  Their entire purpose is to gamble with the Bitcoins you just lent them.  They have no choice.  It is their business model.

The second people start lending their Bitcoins to banks they have recreated the fractional reserve banking system.

The answer from anyone who really understands Bitcoins, loves Bitcoins, what they represent, why they exist, should not simply be "no I will not lend my Bitcoins to a bank in order to reproduce the fractional reserve banking system".  It should be:

Quote
There is no fucking way I will lend my Bitcoins to the fucking banking system so they can use my Bitcoins to recreate their fucking house of cards Ponzi scheme fractional reserve banking system.

Having said all that, it is inevitable that Bitcoin substitutes (bitcoin IOUs) will eventually be used for and accepted as payment and that the banking system will recreate a fractional reserve banking system using Bitcoins.  This is because most people do not understand the first thing about money, what it is, where it comes from and what purpose it serves - and most people are sheep being lead to the slaughter.

The difference with Bitcoin is that you can choose not to participate in their scheme to rape you.

For examples of sheep being led to the slaughter and/or asking to be raped again just read the next post and the many more before that and after that from clueless ignorant fools who do not even bother to read this thread or think before posting:
924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Would you open a Bitcoin account at your local bank? on: November 11, 2016, 03:07:38 PM
This thread almost perfectly separates the people who know and love what Bitcoin is and more importantly what Bitcoin can do for the cause of true economic freedom and privacy from those that are just ignorant immature sheep who fear freedom, fear taking control and responsibility for their own lives, fear privacy and through their own ignorance and fear will bend over and take it up the ass from the bank/government fractional reserve fiat monopoly money cartel again.

Ignorant sheep who state they will happily exchange their personal responsibility, privacy and true economic freedom for the illusion of security, the fantasy of gain through interest and/or the lie of "more convenience":

927  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Alternatives to paying for electricy (natural gas, propane, gasoline...?) on: November 07, 2016, 01:09:51 AM
heat into energy

This is already being done for you when you purchase electricity from the power company.  They convert heat from oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear fission, etc. into electricity.  This (thermodynamics) is one of the most well studied and well understood areas of science and engineering.  We have been converting heat into either locomotion or electricity for a long time and modern natural gas power generation is almost as efficient as it can theoretically be.
928  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Alternatives to paying for electricy (natural gas, propane, gasoline...?) on: November 04, 2016, 06:37:28 PM
Only way where you actually can get "free" power is connect your miners to your vehicle while driving. The alternator produces hundreds of AMPs of current and most of it is wasted. If you drive an hour to work, then thats 2 hours of free mining.

Not true.

The output of the alternator is not free.  You are converting gasoline into electrical power.  If you add an electrical load to the alternator by adding the mining equipment you will burn more gasoline than if you did not load the alternator.

Bottom line is that putting the mining equipment in your car will increase your gas consumption and decrease your gas mileage in three ways:

Increased weight for your gas engine to push around while you are driving
Increased gas consumption due to the load on the alternator for the electricity you are using to mine
Increased gas consumption due to the increased need for air conditioning in the car

Seems legit... Lol you just posted this thread to get some donation to your address which has 0 btc in it??? Lol...
Theymos,

If you want to save this steaming pile of a forum we need to BAN ALL PAID SIGNATURES.  This will solve a multitude of issues.  The stupid posts, the selling of accounts, did I mention the stupid fucking posts?

This forum is dying under the weight of this shit and has been for a while now.  Start by banning these two idiots and everyone else with a KOMODO signature.

I think you are confused.  Trixie and Lulamoon are not two different poinies.  They are the same pony, her full name being Trixie Lulamoon.  You must have been very drunk at the time to think they were two different ponies.

Gleb,

On point as always because you actually know how to read a thread before making a comment.  You are a gentleman and a scholar.

Idiots who do not read threads before posting should all be banned.  All paid signatures should be banned.  One warning, perm ban, no recourse.

If you accept 1,000 fictional Bitcoins from a newly found stash of 30,000 fictional Bitcoins you will have exactly 0 real BTC.  But if you beg for Bitcoins on the Internet you may get some.

So turning down the 1,000 fictional Bitcoins for the chance to get some dust is the logical thing to do.

As of this post she has exactly 0 real and 0 fictional Bitcoins:

That's great Bruno, you're a saint. I'm glad Burt will get a little extra. Maybe he can buy an extra Christmas present for his little one to help wash away the memory of government nazis.
I will get her an extra present and thank you very much!

Update on daughter:  last year (4th grade) the teacher asked all the kids in the class to research a topic of concern, create a presentation and present it to the class.  Most of the kids presented typical 4th grade topics of concern (cruelty to animals, recycling, etc.).  Her presentation was "Stop the Madness:  Civil Asset Forfeiture".

She gave her presentation to the class including details of my arrest, etc.  Interestingly she said many of her classmates flat out did not believe her and accused her of making the whole thing up.

This year the students in her class have all been tasked with presenting a civics lesson of some kind.  I can't wait to see what she does.
