921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: December 14, 2023, 02:42:29 AM
✂✂✂✂
I rarely seen people talked about MLS in other thread. I saw its thread but people are not so active like this.

Well.. that is my point. Lionel Messi may be a legend, but it is Cristiano Ronaldo who attracts the global fans. Personally I have never followed any of the matches in MLS and I haven't even visited the MLS thread here in Gambling sub-forum. However, I am a regular visitor to this thread ever since CR7 joined the Saudi Professional League (back in January 2023). And it's not just me. SPL became one of the top football leagues in the world (in terms of popularity) immediately after CR7 joined. But Messi was unable to do anything like that with the Major League Soccer (MLS).

Quite surprised to see Khurram Shahzad opening the bowling for Pakistan. Apart from Shaheen Shah Afridi, they have selected a very inexperienced bowling squad for this test. Shahzad is playing in his first ever test match (also the first match for Pakistan national team). Recently he performed really well in Pakistan domestic cricket, while playing for Faisalabad. Aamer Jamal is also playing his first test match, and he represents Lahore Whites in domestic cricket. BTW, pitch at Perth Stadium seems to be batsmen friendly and Australia may end up with 400-500 on board by day 2.

@Sithara007 not surprised here that they don’t want to distribute more ICC money and sad thing is this information is in public domain yet ICC will chose to do nothing about it. Also I wonder will other countries send their star player’s or they’ll prepare a B squad of player’s and send them because in a already jam packed schedule I can’t see big player’s participation in Olympics.

It is a big scam that is going on. Take Czech Republic for example. There is a small Indian-Pakistani community that is mostly comprised of medical students and other temporary visitors. They have formed 5-6 cricket clubs that play against each other on weekends. A lot often, these matches exist only on paper. This is the Czech Republic national league. The cricket board, as well as the national team players all come from this community and there is not a single citizen who is part of this system. ICC provides around $100,000 per year in funds and the board divides this amount between the 100-120 club players, without spending any of that in development. And this is not an isolated case. In many of the European countries, this scam is going on.

Well, it's been 2-3 decades so let's not go there.  Grin

But overall, no one takes this bilateral very seriously. It's all fun and giggles for the majority of fans, especially the Australian fans. Anyway, atm Kiwis are in some transition phase and they will lose at least some senior players soon. These 2 boards also take ages to schedule this series so we can forget about Kiwis winning any series against Australia anytime soon.

Well.. talking about the possibility of New Zealand winning a series against Australia... it never happened when New Zealand was in peak form (2018-2021). Now it is much more unlikely given the fact that they are in poor shape. One thing that continues to boost New Zealand is the fresh influx of players from South Africa and India. In recent times, South African born players such as Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Dean Foxcroft and Chad Bowes have featured in the New Zealand playing XI and so has players such as Ajaz Patel, Ish Sodhi and Rachin Ravindra. They also have Mark Chapman (born in Hong Kong and is part-Chinese) as well as Colin de Grandhomme (Zimbabwe). So obviously New Zealand is being kept alive by fresh infusion from other nations.

~snip~
At least something positive came out of it, which was about to happen once the Olympic tag came along with the cricket.

It'll still take some time because atm few teams are participating in it but it's an amazing update and I am sure more associate teams will follow the same, not in the short term but surely things will look juicy in the next 4-8 years as far as local participation in the squad is concerned.

I am a bit more skeptical in case of some of the other countries. There are complaints that some of the associate boards are acting like closed cabals (especially those in Czech Republic, Norway, Belgium and many other European countries). Cricket teams in these countries are mostly comprised of medical students and temporary workers from the sub-continent. They are not interested in spreading cricket and are only interested in the funds that get disributed from ICC every year. There is no push from these boards to spread cricket to the native population, because doing so would mean distributing the ICC funds to more people.
926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 14, 2023, 01:40:52 AM
So today there are two matches.

First is the 3rd T20I between
India vs South Africa
And second is the 2nd T20I match between
West Indies vs England

In India and South Africa T20I series we know that first match was abounded due to rain. And this match has no results. After that they played the second match and South Africa won the match. And now they will play the third match. And I hope series will be equal with 1-1.

In second match West Indies has won the first match and now they will play the second match. I hope that the West Indies will try to its best to win the match and will try to win the series too. So let's see who wil win the matc.

West Indies managed to win the ODI series and now they will be hoping to win the T20 series as well. England send a squad to West Indies that lacked key players such as Wood, Woakes and Root for the ODI series. And they got whacked. Did the same for T20 series as well and now they are in the process of getting whacked there as well. BTW, I don't understand the logic of including Tymal Mills in the T20 side. He has repeatedly failed at international level and there is no point in including him when younger options are available.

I think India are going to check their upcoming players and how they are performing and how well they are going to perform these days. Mostly the players like I can say Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma which were the backbone of the India Team, if still they are not even present in the matches then it would also be difficult for the team of India. Most likely they can win their matches but the new players have to focus on their batting strength that how well they have to bowl.

Then what happened during the 2023 ODI World Cup final? Both these players were present, and yet they lost the final match to Australia. Anyway, they can't be dependent on Rohit and Virat all the time. And the squad for the South African series actually contained a number of experienced players such as Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj. Even after all this, if they can't win matches against an under-strength South Africa that is lacking QDK, Rabada and Nortje, then whose fault is it?

You should really be more concern about your own country first
https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.CD?end=2022&locations=GY-IN&start=2013

India has a very large grey economy (informal economy that doesn't pay tax), that doesn't get counted in the official figures. If you add the grey economy, then the GDP per capita of India will be very similar to the GDP per capita in Guyana (before the oil boom). From 2020 to 2022, the Guyanese GDP went up by almost 3x. Obviously in a large country like India, which has the largest human population in the world, such insane GDP growth is not possible. Despite all that, there was a decent growth in GDP from 2014 onwards.

^^^ Although the match was washed out, once again Ireland's upper hand over Zimbabwe was clear. When rains struck, Zimbabwe was struggling at 121/6, with Graham Hume and Craig Young picking up two wickets apiece for Ireland. If there was no interruption, then Zimbabwe would have got bowled out for somewhere around 150 and Ireland would have won the match easily. Zimbabwe included a number of inexperienced players for this series, and this seems to have backfired on them. Not a single player managed to score more than 30 runs.

Zimbabwe and Tanzania have secured qualification for the next phase in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier. Uganda has qualified from Group B, but it needs to be seen who will be the 4th team to qualify. It should be Namibia, as their last match is against a weak Rwanda. Finalists will qualify for the global qualifier. Kenya has once again performed poorly, by missing the qualification (finished 3rd in Group A with just 1 win). Meanwhile, their neighbors Uganda on the other hand is continuing with the good momentum.
ICC women t20 World cup qualifier series, Zimbabwe-W team first got a chance to choose first bat or bowl in today game and they elected bowl in pitch. In this game, Zimbabwe-W team took a good decision by choosing bowling because they beat Tanzania-W team by good margin. Tanzania team scored only 82 runs in 19.5 overs by losing entire team players. Opener batsman M.Musonda showed good effort in today batting and also he was leader of this team and he scored 33 runs in 27 balls and he hitted five 4s. They just lost one wickets and won this game by 9 wickets and 30 balls. P.Marange Bowler of Zimbabwe-W team also showed good performance and he took down three batsman of Tanzania-W team. In group A, Zimbabwe is present in top 1 rank with three won out of three.

Tanzania women's team recently took part in the Women's T20 Quadrangular Series, which was held in Hong Kong. They managed to reach the finals, although lost the final match to the hosts (other two teams participating in this series were Nepal and Japan). Tanzania has made big strides in recent times, both in men's and women's game. And this time, in the Africa Region Qualifier, they have qualified to the next phase as one of the two top teams in Group A. And if they are lucky they may qualify for the global qualifier.

When zuzie created the thread on Saudi Professional League, I never thought that it will become one of the most popular topics within the Gambling Discussion sub-forum. In less than 12 months, we have dozens of active users who are posting on this thread and it has always remained in the first page of the sub-forum. And a lot of credit goes to Cristiano Ronaldo. He was the one who made SPL famous across the globe. Now they have superstars such as Aleksandar Mitrović, Sadio Mané and Karim Benzema playing in the league, but CR7 was the one who started it.

UAE19 gave a huge target to the JPN19 team. If we took a look on the UAE team batting line so we will see that the three players were good in batting. Dhruv Parashar Maroof Merchant And Aayan Afzal Khan. I really appreciate the batting of Aayan Afzal Khan he was playing really well he made 67 runs and hit 3 sixes. And important thing is that he remained not out in this match. Overall the UAE19 made 320 runs. Which I think was a good target for JPN19 team. And fortunately the Japan team didn't chase the target and UAE won the match.

Japan did very decent job with the bat. In response to 320/7 made by the United Arab Emirates, they got to a total of 213/4. And this is very decent performance considering the fact that Japan is ranked #52 in ICC T20I rankings, while UAE is ranked at #17. Koji Abe made 69 not out, while Charles Hinze made 40 from just 36 balls. And in the end there was a little cameo from Kiefer Lake who made 31 from 27 balls. Charles Hinze returned exceptionally good bowling figures as well (10-1-42-2). Now Japan U-19 team can return home with their heads held high.

Tamil Nadu seems to be in bad situation in the semi-final match against Haryana. They need another 145 runs from 17 overs. Baba Indrajith is their last hope and he is batting at 43, and on the other end M Shahrukh Khan is batting. And after them, the tail starts with Manimaran Siddharth and Sai Kishore. Apart from Harshal Patel and Rahul Tewatia, the other Haryana bowlers doesn't have much experience. But still they did a great job with the ball so far. So it looks as if Haryana will make history by entering the final of Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Vijay Hazare Trophy: In the first semi-final, Haryana managed to post a very competitive total (293/7) against Tamil Nadu. I was closely following the performance of Thangarasu Natarajan, but he disappointed today. Obviously he picked up three important wickets (Yuvraj Singh, Ankit Kumar and Sumit Kumar), but leaked a lot of runs and returned figures of 10-1-79-3. Varun Chakravarthy was another disappointment today, as he went for 67 runs from his 10 overs. Right now, it is like 50-50. Both the teams have almost equal chances of winning this match.

New Zealand had a strong team around 2019-20 (first WTC cycle) and they toured Australia for 3 test matches, this was a result.

1st test - Australia won by 296 runs
2nd test -Australia won by 247 runs
3rd test - Australia won by 279 runs

Only 3 countries bring money to the table as far as Test cricket is concerned.

India (Pick any Test series): In the Last BGT trophy in Australia during COVID-19 CA earned close to $200 million and they were about to declare bankruptcy, there were reports that CA was lacking funds to even pay salaries. To give you overall context, the last T-20 WC in Australia fetched CA $70 Million. I'll give you another example in the same context, atm India is on SA tour for one month and CSA will earn in between $55-$65 Million from this.

And then we have England and Australia but apart from the Ashes and matches against India, they hardly earn anything from any test series. For other cricket boards it's just loss making affair unless BIG-3 travelling them.

Well.. I guess I followed the 2019-20 series, but don't remember that much. Anyway, results were disappointing for the Kiwis and no doubt about it. I checked the records, and the last time New Zealand won the Trans-Tasman series was in 1989-90. And this is when they had players such as Richard Hadlee and John Wright in the squad. After that they had draws on three occasions, but never managed to win the series. But I have very fond memories of some of these matches from the 2001–02 and 2004–05 seasons. That was when Warne and McGrath used to take on Stephen Fleming/Nathan Astle.

BBL #13: Melbourne Stars vs Perth Scorchers

Bad batting from Melbourne Stars, 101 is no score to defend.

Easy win for Perth Scorchers, could have ended even early had Connolly stayed on ground for some more time, as he had all plans to end it soon.

Melbourne Stars, as usual are at the bottom of the points table now, with two loses from two matches. To be fair, they don't have any star batsmen in their squad apart from Marcus Stoinis. They do have some promising youngsters such as Beau Webster and Hilton Cartwright. But they were no match for the raw pace of Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff today. On top of that spinner Hamish McKenzie picked up two crucial wickets today (those of Hilton Cartwright and Usama Mir). He is playing in his first BBL season, and represents Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club in Western Australian Grade Cricket.

Japan managed to get to three digit score in their match against United Arab Emirates Under-19s at the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup. In return to UAE's score of 320/7, Japan are 140/4 after 39 overs. They are going to lose this match, but this time they have put up a decent performance. Obviously UAE is not one of the strongest teams, but they have a lot of players from India and Pakistan. And after suffering heavy defeats in the first two matches, the outcome is somewhat "encouraging" for the Japan U-19 team.
939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 13, 2023, 07:30:46 AM
Japan and United Arab Emirates are playing their only remaining match at the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup. UAE is now 144/3. They may get to a total of ~350 and get a consolation win today. For Japan, the fact that they are participating in this tournament is a big plus. And unlike the case with UAE, Japan had 4-5 native players in their squad (although the majority were either British or Indian). Even that is much better when compared to the UAE, who had their last native player representing the team sometime in the 1990s.

The first semi-final in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 will be played today between Haryana and Tamil Nadu. Haryana has been the surprise package this year, and they defeated Bengal during the quarter-finals. They have some excellent players such as Rahul Tewatia, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel. On the other hand, Baba Indrajith and Baba Aparajith has been in excellent form for Tamil Nadu, along with their bowlers such as Manimaran Siddharth and Varun Chakravarthy. For today's match, I would say that the advantage is with Tamil Nadu.
