Finally, there's a demerit point for the Mirpur Test. The pitch used in the second Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand has received a rating from the ICC. This decision from the ICC has been eagerly awaited. The Dhaka Test pitch has been given an unsatisfactory rating along with 1 demerit point.
ICC should advise the Bangladesh Cricket Board to improve pitch conditions before hosting any international matches. It's crucial for the BCB to ensure that such issues don't happen repeatedly.

This is definitely a good step. But my question is how are they going to measure this? Is this bad? Because it was favored towards the spin bowlers? And would it have been very good if it was favored towards the fast bowlers?

Of course, there is a thing in cricket which is an unsafe pitch. That definitely deserves some demerits. But I really wonder how this is going to be measured. Is it just going to be good if a lot of runs are going to be scored?

I think those people who actually still see test matches, once the test match to have a result. And the track favoring the bowlers are a big aspect of the test match having a result. Because otherwise it is just going to be draws.

@SATWAT should ICC end test cricket so other formats can prosper maybe I’m tempted to say yes but Test cricket also has it’s moments but the current generation doesn’t want to spend time watching it so maybe ICC will scrap it and we’ll have to accept the reality. @Sithara007 I can’t find fault with what Bangladesh is doing because unlike the big 4 they actually need the revenue to survive hence I’m sympathetic with them.

LOL.. test cricket is not going to "end" anytime soon. On the other hand, it is prioritized by the ICC and that is the reason why test nations get 50x the funding that others get. Well Juggy777, I agree with you that BCB is short on funds. But at the same time, available funds are not being used fairly. And their annual fund allocation is not that small. Next year, they are supposed to receive $26.74 million from the ICC. This is more than enough to revamp their domestic structure, but the BCB doesn't seems to have any interest in doing it.

I honestly think that it is time for cricket to let go of test cricket. And this is one format that absolutely nobody watches. Everybody just watches the result of the test match and the highlights at max. No one actually watches the whole test match for 5 days. I am pretty sure that nobody actually watches a test match for even a single day. It is just not the best investment by the ICC. I personally think this quick should not be a format in this day and age.

BCB has a lot of problems going on. I think it is one of the most corrupt cricket boards in the whole world. And that's why improvements are not happening.

I don't know how true such news is but while scrolling through the news feed one such news comes in front of me where it is said that BCB has been fined for making poor quality wickets. If ICC takes such action against BCB then it is not wrong action at all because Mirpur wicket was really bad and very low quality wicket made by curator. The batsmen cannot bat well on such wickets, the bowlers bowl well. Looking at this bad wicket of Mirpur, it seems that even if any cricketer from the neighborhood is allowed to bowl, he will still bowl well on that wicket. Bangladesh should stop making such wickets not for fear of penalty but for the sake of their own cricket.

To give you overall context, the last T-20 WC in Australia fetched CA $70 Million. I'll give you another example in the same context, atm India is on SA tour for one month and CSA will earn in between $55-$65 Million from this.

And then we have England and Australia but apart from the Ashes and matches against India, they hardly earn anything from any test series. For other cricket boards it's just loss making affair unless BIG-3 travelling them.

The first test match between Pakistan and Australia has started for tomorrow. Australia is favourite to win this match but as i Pakistani i love to winning Pakistan to this series. Pakistan recently beat Srilanka by 2 match series by 2-0, and top of world test championship points tables with 24 points. Pakistan made some new players in this squad and chances to get test debut new player like Amir Jamal and khurma Shahzad. I think the pace attack of Pakistan is poor only i experience bowler Shaheen shah Afridi is palying, but Personally i like mir hamza and Hassan in playing Xi against Australia.

After that they had draws on three occasions, but never managed to win the series. But I have very fond memories of some of these matches from the 2001–02 and 2004–05 seasons. That was when Warne and McGrath used to take on Stephen Fleming/Nathan Astle.

New Zealand was a better team towards the 2019/20 year. At least they were doing better compared to what they are doing right now. I personally think that they are trying to improve in the shorter formats of cricket. And trying to concentrate on those, they are actually kind of ignoring their performance in the test format. Probably that is actually okay as long as they are able to perform well in the shorter formats. And if we compare this New Zealand team with the New Zealand team from the '90s or even the early 2000s, I am definitely going to say that this team is nowhere near that.

But overall, no one takes this bilateral very seriously. It's all fun and giggles for the majority of fans, especially the Australian fans. Anyway, atm Kiwis are in some transition phase and they will lose at least some senior players soon. These 2 boards also take ages to schedule this series so we can forget about Kiwis winning any series against Australia anytime soon.

In the Dhaka Test, the pitch condition at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium must be changed, especially if the 5-day Test game ends after two days, then the Test match cannot be desirable in any way. Especially in the second test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand, the two teams collected a total of 672(BAN 172,144  NZ 180, 179/6) runs in four innings. If this is the condition of a Test pitch then there must be demerits. I think the Mirpur Sherbangla Stadium pitch in Bangladesh should be changed very soon.

Well.. talking about the possibility of New Zealand winning a series against Australia... it never happened when New Zealand was in peak form (2018-2021). Now it is much more unlikely given the fact that they are in poor shape. One thing that continues to boost New Zealand is the fresh influx of players from South Africa and India. In recent times, South African born players such as Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Dean Foxcroft and Chad Bowes have featured in the New Zealand playing XI and so has players such as Ajaz Patel, Ish Sodhi and Rachin Ravindra. They also have Mark Chapman (born in Hong Kong and is part-Chinese) as well as Colin de Grandhomme (Zimbabwe). So obviously New Zealand is being kept alive by fresh infusion from other nations.

Usually a good score can be made if you bat on the first day on a new pitch. Batting in the second innings is difficult and the chances of losing wickets are high. From this point of view, Australia won the toss and decided to bat. I woke up early to watch the live match and saw a good amount of viewership from India on the Hotstar app. Currently, 57k viewers are watching the live telecast and I was impressed by the number of people in the stadium. I was expecting a vacant stadium but it looks like Australians still love watching test matches. I know a large portion of that crowd would be Pakistani migrants. Still, it looks good, and this is how people from the subcontinent cheer their teams. Very early stage of the match so cannot comment about it now.
