921  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which site is the best for sports betting? on: February 15, 2017, 06:21:50 AM
I've used Nitrogen Sports in the past and they have been pretty good for sports bets. I'd recommend you take a look at them.
922  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My Electrum client doesn't start any longer under OSX on: February 14, 2017, 06:55:54 PM
Thanks for the answer. Starting electrum from the command line does not work (command not found) but I'm wondering how it should be working. All I downloaded was the app in the Applications folder, so there is no command line program as far as I know.
I think that I can recreate my wallets from the seeds (as far as I understand that's all that I need) but before doing so, I need to get Electrum starting again :-(

Try backing up the ".electrum" folder within your user profile and then deleting or moving it which would force Electrum to recreate the folder. If there is something in your profile that is causing the issue, this should fix it I believe.
923  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE CASINO - CONGRATULATIONS TO WONTON FOR WINNING 300BTC on: February 14, 2017, 05:51:47 PM
Aw! Seems I missed the fun.  I just woke up from hibernation, damn that was 10 hours sleep lol.  Oh well, sleeping people can't catch giveaways when it knocks.

10 hours is nice good rest ! Doesn't hurt to still stop by the chat room and lurk as they tend to do some random unannounced games as well.
924  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: No had the time to copy password (PC reboot) on: February 14, 2017, 02:58:47 PM
It wants a password but I haven't enter one to send my BTC, it is crazy!
Is there wallet emulators where you can enter you wallet number and send?
I don't understand why it asks me a password: Until the seed there is no password entered  Huh

The password is for encrypting the wallet file. You would have had to manually add a password to the wallet and you would have had to supply it with some password in order for this to activate.

The seed (12 word phrase) is separate and is used to recreate the wallet file. If you don't have either the seed or the password, I don't think you'll be able to access the wallet very easily.
925  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My Electrum client doesn't start any longer under OSX on: February 14, 2017, 02:56:03 PM
Hi forum,
I'm only using electrum every now and then but today morning I experienced that it is not longer starting. I just downloaded the very latest version from the homepage and updated it but it does not start. When I start the client, It asks me, whether I want to connect to the server auomatically or manually. Regardless, what I choose, the window then disappears and no other window shows up. The console does not show any messages from electrum at all.
Does anybody have any idea, how I can convince electrum to start?

Thanks
Norbert

Does Electrum command line work? Try typing
Code:
electrum help
and
Code:
electrum listaddresses --funded
for example to see if you get any output or errors to display.

It is possible there is some error when reading your wallet file or something but it is odd that no error is being shown. You might have to try recreating the wallet (after backing up) and restoring your seed if the issue persists.
926  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE CASINO - CONGRATULATIONS TO WONTON FOR WINNING 300BTC on: February 14, 2017, 02:36:01 PM
The best gambling site is those who is a trusted site, Bitdice has no issue in terms of trust that is why people are loyal to play this site. Moreover, they were able to provide what people would want to see, they have a lot of promotions and that attracts us to gamble more.

Yep, Trust plays a very important role in any site. If you cannot trust the site, why would you play there? There is plenty of trust in BitDice so never any worries there.
927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: February 14, 2017, 04:43:15 AM
Gambling can certainly get you in trouble and can sometimes lead to addiction which can bring a lot of problems. If done responsibly, it can be a great source of entertainment. Just try not to overdo it, only gamble what you can afford to lose, and you should be fine.
928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin how important to you? on: February 14, 2017, 04:40:28 AM
Bitcoin is important and I think it will certainly be more popular as time goes on. Hopefully more and more people continue to use it and it grows as it is really a great technology. Sometimes it is easy to forget that bitcoin holds a real value so you may not always treat it with the same respect that you would fiat, but you should.
929  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best Hardware Wallet on: February 14, 2017, 03:14:01 AM
And what about the ledger blue?

The ledger blue looks pretty nice but seems a bit pricey. It looks like a tablet more than a simple hardware wallet but it seems pretty cool you can have multiple apps on it. I'm not sure if I could justify the extra price over something like the Nano S though.

I'd recommend that you check out Bitpay as I have seen a lot of businesses using this service to accept payments.

Alternatively, you could look into setting up Electrum to accept payments. Their merchant documentation is available at http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/merchant.html but it would likely be a more involved process than using something like BitPay.
931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Turn Gambling into a Profitable Activity on: February 14, 2017, 03:05:03 AM
I've been trying to be profitable in sports gambling for a long time.

The method I use is to start with 0.001 & see how much I can profit or lose from that.

There have been a few times I've got as high as 0.016 from 0.001.

When I win that much I make bad decisions and always lose it all.

Managing greed & emotions & maintaining self control is what I have the most trouble with.

Even if I'm losing I feel like it is a good therapy to learn not to worship money and resist it influencing me.

You're exactly right. Once we win, greed and emotion takes over ending up losing everything then start all over. Its really hard to control these because the feelings of winning makes you want to win more and bet more than you originally intended.

Yeah, you can do good for the longest time and one slip up could result in your whole bankroll going down the drain as well. It is hard to ever stay in the positive for long.
932  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE CASINO - CONGRATULATIONS TO WONTON FOR WINNING 300BTC on: February 13, 2017, 03:22:28 PM
So what's new going on with BitDice?  Any promotions or giveaways everyone should know about?  Maybe even new games available at the site?  It would be nice if a rep or someone from BitDice itself dropped by in here from time to time to keep us updated.

I also still think they should test player vs player games just to see if there's potential.

I dont see any special promotions/giveaways atm, perhaps there are still some chat games but I'm not sure because its been few weeks since my last play here.
Perhaps Alex is focusing more on adding new games, then he might offer some nice giveaways/promos when everything is done as expected.
Regarding player vs player games, I dont think it is really needed now. There are many examples of how some sites are struggling very hard in order to get good traffic.

Well, i also don't see neither promos or giveaways but i have no dought that Alex and his team will give us something. As always... Cool
Btw adding a new game is something like a promo for my point of view, so anything new is more than welcomed!

You must have not stopped by the chat room lately as there has been constant rains and giveaways going on at random times. You should be sure to stop by and check it out.
933  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should be done for Bitcoin wallet security? on: February 13, 2017, 05:40:19 AM
A hardware wallet is the best and safest approach to a wallet for the best level of security.

However, if you also take actions to help prevent your PC from being compromised with malware, you should be safe running a normal wallet with an encryption password.
934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's the best place for current BtC price? on: February 13, 2017, 05:32:15 AM
I agree with the others that mentioned Bitcoinwisdom with Bitstamp information. It tends to be quite accurate. I also like to use Preev sometimes do check the price of different amounts of bitcoin but it tends to be less accurate sometimes.
935  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed Transaction on: February 13, 2017, 02:44:34 AM
Start off by saying this. I read other posts in this forum, and noticed that setting the default dynamic fee (.0005 btc/kb) is not nearly enough to confirm in a timely fashion. So I understand why it didn't confirm, and that I pretty much can't do anything about it at this point except wait for the transaction to become inactive and the funds are released.

That being said, I notice that dynamic fees only go up to .001 btc/kb, where I've read that the recommended fee is .001 to .0011. Is there a way to increase the fee slider past .001?

Go to Electrum/Tools/Preferences/Fees and untick the Dynamic fees, you will see that the transaction fee for Kb small window will become active.

Put 0.002 for fee for KB/transaction. That should solve your problem, although I agree with kolloh setting the dynamic fee to the far right is the best way and you will not have problems with transactions confirmation speed.

Yeah, the dynamic fees feature is best so you don't end up overpaying on fees when network congestion isn't very high. But yeah, you could manually set the per KB fee to a higher amount if you wanted to ensure miners place priority on yours but you may be paying extra for no reason.
936  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Multiple Accounts No Longer Supported in 2.7.0 on: February 13, 2017, 02:26:36 AM
First of all, I want to thank ThomasV and the other electrum devs for their hard work on the elctrum project.

I think there are a lot of really useful features in 2.7 (and subsequent versions up to the current 2.8.0).

It looks like the wallet format was upgraded in 2.7.0, and that this format does not support multiple accounts within a single wallet (including if you are using Trezor or another hardware wallet).

My question is, was there a technical reason why this is not possible in the new format? I personally think that the ability to use multiple accounts was a great feature for a number of reasons (including privacy), and would like to see it available again in future versions of electrum, if possible.

I acknowledge that it is possible to simple have multiple electrum wallets, and to even have multiple electrum windows open at the same time.

From what I can tell, this is due to the switch from bip32 to bip39. The multiple "accounts" as a concept is part of bip32 and isn't part of bip39 ( which added the mnemonic code )

Dice Jackpot is Over 10 BTC

The jackpot is nice and big but it would be quite hard to hit a streak of 13 to hit that jackpot as it looks like its about a 1 in a million chance and requires a minimum bet of 0.001 on each bet.

Certainly would be nice sized jackpot though if someone manages to hit it.
938  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: February 12, 2017, 01:58:37 AM
I'm kinda worried about running ExploitAgency's fork (though I really like the additions). Would it be safe if I generated all my keys using his version using split key generation? Or theoretically, could he still get the full private key that way?

I'm fairly confident that the fork is legit, but want to be very safe about this. I don't have a machine that's not connected to the internet for generating keys, so that's not an option for me.

You might be able to set up a firewall rule that prevents any outgoing connections from the app via your firewall perhaps to effectively make it offline.
939  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: February 11, 2017, 03:35:11 PM
Anyone know if there is an oclvanitygen version that supports the regex search feature like the cpu vanitygen has? Not sure why the oclvanitygen doesn't support this option as it would come in handy when looking for specific addresses or vanities near the end of the address instead of the front.

https://github.com/exploitagency/vanitygen-plus
My fork has regex under oclvanitygen, but... it uses cpu only... I'm looking into it though

Yeah, it would be nice if the GPU mode supported regex searching as well which greatly speeds up searches. If you can figure out a way to add that, it would be great!

Yeah, BitDice withdrawals are always nice and fast and have never seen any issues withdrawing large amounts like I've seen recently with some other casinos.
