921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dash on the rise again on: March 11, 2017, 03:45:15 PM
Are you kidding me? who the hell is pumping this thing again? Is Roger Vermin still pumping it? Crazy times for this coin. I thought it was over, but it keeps hitting all time highs. I suspect node runners are going to start dumping slowly to test the market, but they will get nervous quick if it keeps growing, then we are going to see some serious shit.

Still I see 0 reasons why Dash is pumping so freaking hard (other than good marketing)
922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Player Takes Home $255,000 In “Milestone” Casino Win on: March 11, 2017, 03:02:10 PM
Im sure the winner browsers this forum. Everyone that gambles in the bitcoin scene knows bitcointalk and looks at gambling subforum to check good deals. Maybe it is an exception and it's some random guy that has 0 accounts in any bitcoin forum and knows nothing about bitcoin, who knows.
923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: March 10, 2017, 07:12:20 PM

In his defense though it does require proper thought.
And each idea can be a dead end with wasted time.
A currency concept would require investigation and more than likely the obvious hits you later.. it's a bad idea LOL
I have had a bunch of ideas but the more i thought of them the more holes i punched in the idea.
And the standard is VERY HIGH !

Never a truer word spoken IMO.

I've spent almost 4 years now solving the same problems Shelby is attempting.   I've thrown away more ideas and code than I care to think about.  Some of those ideas are doing the rounds now as the "next big thing" and I threw them away years ago as they weren't good enough or would have issues further down the line.

I think the problem is that because Bitcoin works, and block chains are "good enough" for most things, the perception is that it must be easy...as someones already done it to a sufficient degree.   It's far from easy though and Satoshi most likely took a number of years of R&D, trialing things out, throwing ideas and code away before he got to Bitcoin.

However, Shelby does spend TOO much time on this forum (and others) procrastinating and debating rather than doing!

Even if he has something fundamental that he can turn into a spectacular product he runs the risk of missing the boat and being the Betamax....or worse someone invents Betamax before him and markets it like VHS.

IMO the boat has already sailed...I'm VERY close and I have working code!  Save for some final critical testing a release is now imminent....I know others are also making progress and edging in on what he's trying to achieve too.

I look forward to seeing what you've been working on.  That being said I hope you would be willing consider a name change, because non-phonetic names have less potential to go viral.  If I heard someone talking about eMunie on that train I'd have no idea how it was spelled (could be eMoney, Muney, Monie, Monee, etc) and would be less likely to have it come up in a google search, Steem is a bad name for the same reason (the existence of the gaming platform Steam hasn't done them any favors either).  Bitcoin is great branding; self descriptive, easy to spell/remember, and unique.

True, name is very important. The project needs a cool name. Bitcoin is amazing, nice, simple, clean, it works.
Dash also got a good view on the marketing here, going from darkcoin to Dash was definitely a good change.
Monero sounds kinda funny to me.
Litecoin has a good psychological factor for "silver coin", of course being the "original alt" also helps.
Ethereum is a pretty cool name, too pretentious tho, but it fits the very ambitious project. It sort of sounds like "Elysium" or "Skynet", something scary. "World computer" they call it, fucking Vitalik, what a crazy guy. Unfortunately, maybe it is actually too pretentious and ambitious and that is its main mistake. We'll see.

So yeah, you must find a good name.
924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin mentioned in the ETF stream on: March 10, 2017, 05:17:09 PM

Let's play some poker. Is he hiding something? Is it yes or a no? Im sure he knows.

I have a personal theory, I think it will not pass and they have pumped and dumped it to showcase how volatile the market can be (which is a good thing since bitcoin is still tiny, so it means there is an huge upwards potential) but those bureaucrats don't like volatility and will use it as an excuse to not pass it.

Of course, maybe it passes and we are sitting on 3000 by tomorrow... we'll see.

My biggest concern right now is BUcoin and the china Psyops Jihan Wu in order to become the dictator of bitcoin. Hopefully we can get rid of these cunts without killing the entire project in the process.
925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Player Takes Home $255,000 In “Milestone” Casino Win on: March 10, 2017, 04:23:15 PM
An online gambler won 160 BTC in a single spin in likely the largest ever single jackpot claim in Bitcoin history.

The player, who went on to walk away with Bitcoin equivalent to $255,000 at current prices, struck lucky at Troll Hunters, hosted by Bitcoin casino Cloudbet.

The casino announced the “milestone” win in a dedicated press release on Friday.

“For us, this signifies a new era in the relentless growth of Bitcoin gambling,” Cloudbet Head of Operations Leandro Rossi commented.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-player-takes-home-255000-in-milestone-casino-win

Are you the one who won?  Smiley Or are you a member of this community?

That is amazing, it is the dream of every gambler to hit the jackpot. I wonder what was the initial investment he did to bet in order to win the jackpot, anyone knows how much he lost before winning and so on?

926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: March 10, 2017, 03:45:45 PM
@thejaytiesto. I have never mentioned that either Floyd or Conor do not fight to win. Of course they do. What I said is this fight is a money making hustle. We are the victims of this overhyped and what might be a boring fight.

Yes Floyd will do anything at all costs to win. Even if his performance is boring.

Indeed, it is a work of hype, but all fights are that. They have a hyping period, then the fight happens the fighters get rich, one of them richer than the other.

Just like stocks, hype progress, pump, then the dump.

But again, the fights are real. And again, if Floyd is boring, isn't it the other fighter's fault too? If the other fighter managed to KO him, it wouldn't be seen as a boring fight, but nobody can caught Floyd, and when he gets caught, he has a good chin and doesn't go down.
927  Economy / Speculation / Shorts on suicide watch on: March 10, 2017, 01:42:41 PM
Looks like everyone that went to sleep yesterday with short positions expecting sub $1000 got bitchslapped in the face. This is why trading is such a fucking gamble. Thank god I only sold a small amount at 1200, now im just waiting for a correction to get in again, but I will ultimately wait for an official SEC statement. If it's approved... insta buy. If not, i'll buy back in lower with the 1200 I got on the exchange.
928  Economy / Speculation / Re: can my bitcoin drop to nothing on: March 09, 2017, 07:37:38 PM
so I got my first 40$ worth of bitcoin i noticed that the that the 40$ goes up and down. Im scared that it will go to 0$ is this possible?, Should i spend my bitcoin on a giftcard? any help please

There are way bigger chances of bitcoin hitting 1 million USD per coin than 0 USD per coin, because me and a lot of other people will be willing to buy all of your BTC if it goes below a certain price.

It is all about the long term and bitcoin is the best asset on the planet right now, therefore me and everyone that knows this fact will keep buying at any given opportunity.
929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Accidentally used a fake Helix Light Grams Account on: March 09, 2017, 06:16:33 PM
I tried to use Helix Light for the first time a couple weeks ago. I googled helix grams and went to the first site that popped up "https://www.helixlight.us" which turns out is a fake scam site. It took me week emailing with the real helix support team to figure this out.

So now my .181 Bitcoins still sit in the fake helix wallet I deposited them into:

Wallet ID "d9620ada7bce7d31"

Deposit Address "1LzR9LdBbciuVHk454QVVHQK1UMhuvjiwu"

TxID "4efd5f1094938089fe0b416284b5702ffc0dd8dda500f217d108e5d806b9d94f"

My question is, is there anyway I can recoup my coins? Send this wallet a message? Request a transfer? etc?

Any help would be appreciated.

-poudini

Upss... sorry buddy, what you did is the definition of fucking up.

Next time you want to mix the coins, go to the official helix reddit and find the correct URL there.

https://www.reddit.com/r/grams/ (on the right)

Also remember to use Tor to access the .onion site and helix that shit. But of course, don't do anything illegal.
930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ETF betting on: March 09, 2017, 04:42:50 PM
I didn't expect odds like these: No @1.54 Yes @2.65 - From what I gathered chances of ETF approval are extremely slim.
At least that is what analysts are saying, so betting for 'NO' in this case seems like a very tempting prospect.
But these odds make me think that maybe there is second bottom in this, like some leaked info maybe?

Odds are useless. What do people know about the SEC? nobody knows what will happen, only the people responsible for the decision.

Odds are for random people. If there are people with insider knowledge they are not going to waste time voting on some poll, they will use their insider info to trade.

Realistically is 50/50 cause nobody knows.
931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: March 09, 2017, 03:55:10 PM
@Harry Callahan. First of all this is what I really think, this fight is not a real fight. This is an event to hustle money out of the fans of boxing and MMA. Both fighters will have no real motivation to knock each other out. Their motivation is money. This will be a boring fight.

It may look like that from the outside because its 2 different sports collapsing and when that happens it's always a freak show or some ridiculous, but make no mistake, those are two of the most competitive men on the planet, they hate losing, the hits are real and hurt, this is not a game, they will fight. Once you are on the ring, everything else is doesn't matter but winning.

Yes just like the 2 most competitive boxers of the world still made one of the most hyped and most boring fights the history of boxing. It is not only I who thinks so but also some of the expert pundits do too.

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2017/3/7/14830070/fight-science-floyd-mayweather-vs-conor-mcgregor-dont-believe-the-hype-ufc-boxing

In the end, we actually feel there is a great potential for this to be a boring fight. Mayweather never let his ego impose on his fighting style hence the reason for his perfect record. Floyd’s style has never been to stand-and-bang.

Read that article. It was also mentioned that those 2 are counter punchers. We could see most of the fight where both will not do anything except stare at each other.

The fact that some people think this or that fight was boring does not mean that Mayweather doesn't fight to win, that is exactly what he does and that is exactly im what im saying.

Mayweather wants to win at all costs, he does not give a fuck if casual fans think its the most boring fight in history. He will try to be as effective as possible and WIN.

It is also the 49 men that tried fault, that not a single one managed to destroy his composure.
932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash Sucks Dicks Dash Is Instamine on: March 09, 2017, 01:50:06 PM
The worst part is not that initial coins were mined very fast, satoshi also mined a ton of coins very fast. What is very concerning is how in darkcoin they changed the total supply of coins after evan mined all those coins which is a bitch ass move. If they changed the total supply once, that is not something I can trust long term ever again. That is a capital sin in crypto world.
933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I just did a smart contract in Byteball : mind blow. on: March 08, 2017, 11:58:29 PM
@thejaytiesto, note I edited my post since you quoted it, to remove what might be construed as "investment advice".

I tend to agree with you, I'd prefer to invest in something I think has a significant long-term future. For me, I can't invest in (hold) anything other than Bitcoin right now (because it is just my cash flow account), because otherwise I only want to invest in what I am working on. Because I compare the feature sets and I have confidence.

However, for speculators and traders, they aren't thinking that way. They want the fastest way to get a ROI, rinse and repeat.

I can't access how well Byteball will do over the long-term. Clearly the lead developer (Tony aka Anthony) is hard working, conscientious, capable, and smart. But the way he structured the transaction fees really made me think he isn't thinking holistically enough about design and long-term. But I am not omniscient and I can't keep up with every design change that every project does. So it would be crazy for me to tell people not to be intrigued by Byteball. I am. So much so, that I dedicated the last chapter (major section) of my whitepaper to Byteball's DAG stability point consensus algorithm.

As a bitcoin holder, how are you going to deal with the following days regarding the ETF? Looks like the price may tank. Im considering selling some in Poloniex using the USDT, wait a couple of days and rebuy back, i've seen a lot of people wanting to do this, this leads me to believe we may see a serious dip and I don't want to be the idiot watching the price tank, at least if I can profit from it I will feel better, since im sure it will recover im not worried long term but I need to make more BTC and this seems like a good opportunity. I doubt price will go any higher than $1200 before dump party begins.

Of course there is the possibility of ETF passing and the market going nuts about it and we may see $1300+... but odds are against that.

If I had a verified account on Poloniex so I could trade to fiat, I would probably consider selling 20% as a hedge at some price north of $1250. I would not buy into altcoins because when Bitcoin's price declines, more money moves from altcoins into Bitcoins to take advantage of the dip opportunity. So altcoins decline more on a percentage basis than Bitcoin. The time to buy altcoins is as Bitcoin starts to rise significantly, then altcoins go bonkers, but sell the altcoins before Bitcoin peaks. Note sentiment about the ETF event is perfectly balanced.

Yeah, it  wouldn't probably be safe to buy alts when BTC tanks cause BTC tends to drag most alts down too, that is why notice I mentioned USDT (Tether) which always has a 1:1 ratio with the USD dollar. Somehow it works, I have been following USDT price, and it is exactly like the dollar.

I don't have a verified account in Poloniex neither, so USDT seems like a good way to get the job done quick and anonymously. Of course, the risk is in the time exposed to the exchange (and USDT itself) for a couple of days until you wait for a good price to buy back in.

But yeah ETF could actually pass... even tho, I don't really see big reasons for TPTB to pass the ETF. Bitcoin is ultimately a banking disruptor and it sort of legitimizes it, it's like they are inviting an enemy as guest in their house. I don't know if im being clear with this. I mean I see bitcoin as something sort of anarchic and "outside of the system", so I dont see exactly how SEC would pass the ETF. Unless even if they hate bitcoin, they think they can control it better by having an ETF or something.

Anyway I should have sold hours ago, now im not sure if it will pump a bit again before the final decision or what.

Common guys this is business, this is all about the money. This is 2 different sports and this will not be competitive because its 2 combat discipline. But if Mayweather face off the ring with Connor, we will not see a real fight and will only do it just for the money. Of course they hate losing but when you imagine the money that will be generated, one has to think if they are doing this for real of just for the sake of the money they gonna earn. IMHO.

Yes it's all about profit, but you are missing the point. It will be a real fight, it will be real competitive. You don't know anything about those 2 fighters if you think they will not go on the ring to win. Mayweather CAN'T lose, it would destroy his entire boxing career, so he will be as serious as he was with Pacman, make no mistake..

I do believe that this is possible since I'm not updated with news about these two. But I guess if McGregor will let Floyd to get higher amount of shares for this fight then I guess Floyd will take the deal. We know him, a scaredy pants that wants money and fame or make this game as a scripted one and will let Floyd win in the end for the sake of business.

Floyd would never lose for no amount of money, same for McGregor. They are too competitive, they value winning over money, too much ego in the line. One of the good things about this fight is exactly that: no amount of money can corrupt this fight. Both fighters want to win, and that is all that is needed for a good fight.

936  Economy / Speculation / ETF not passing can still be positive depending on the verdict on: March 08, 2017, 07:14:23 PM
Remember that, even if the ETF doesn't pass, if the final verdict is overall positive (not passed, but few requirements for the next time, showing progress) the scenario would still be positive: It ultimately would mean we are closer to an ETF.

I think we may dip, but not as deep as people look at. And we may have even have a pump, after doubters jump in and market realizes it's just dumb to dump. Thought call on this one.

Conor will come back some day but he will soon go for the boxing matches, a lot of big money to be made for him in the boxing game, people want to see him, he already got offers to fight canelo and pacman, but the mayweather one is the big huge payday.
938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I just did a smart contract in Byteball : mind blow. on: March 07, 2017, 06:45:57 PM
I am considering investing on this altcoin but im still not sure since iamnotback addressed some valid concerns on the project and I want to invest in something long term not in something that has flaws and will have to deal with big problems in the future. I wish someone did a coin strong enough that it will not meet dead ends eventually but the question... this coin may not even exist. All coins may be cornered into hard forks and controversial situations in a long enough timeline.

You also know that I told you (and others in private) that Byteball might be one of the best of tiny marketcaps to speculate on. If they had given away Bytes to every Bitcoin HODLer, I expected a selloff. But instead apparently what they did is only distributed to a very few who bothered to show up on time, so the coins have been concentrated amongst for example ICONOMI got roughly 9% of all Byteball issued. So perhaps the selloff won't be forthcoming. I dunno because I haven't been following it in detailed study since.

Nothing is perfect. And they could potentially improve over time.

But the flaws I outlined are somewhat onerous, especially their transaction fee design appeared entirely unscalable to me unless they've since changed it or clarified something I didn't know.

Given it is held by whales, one could probably expect a pump at some point.

Yeah that is why I said long term... sure short term it may pump and holders can make a killing, but yeah who knows what big holders will do when it pumps a bit.

I was also considering ICN for a short term pump when it was 4xx... luckily I didn't bite the bullet cause it's tanking. Never liked the idea of having to trust some random people to invest for me but fuck at least I expect a good short term pump reaching 1 dollar.. looks like I dodged another opportunity to lose bitcoins.

Byteball graph looking good, but ICN graph was also looking good... till it went downtrend. I think I may not risk it, but then again... ETF about to be decided, and now im worried about Jihan Wu antics too... maybe it is a good time to expose your BTCs to some risk.. taking decisions makes my head hurt, too many variables and I dont want to lose my hard earned BTC tbh.
