I guess it's better than not being able to buy at all.
Actually its not.. if you bought multiple small quantities of coins.. you could just click buy and have buy orders within a couple of minutes. that was MUCH better than saying "we'll force you into whatever the price is at some unforseen time" i spit my drink out when i read that. You can still buy the other way though. Just have to time it right.

lesson one dont use online wallet for long term storage. only use for daily 'pocket money amounts'
lesson two even if you have forgot your password, as long as you have the private key to your hoard you can use it anywhere.
lesson three the private key is the most important thing in your life. keep it as a paper wallet. when you intend to spend a small amount of coin, produce a new paper wallet. Import the first(old) paper wallet to a desktop/web client do your spending and send the remnants/change/ hoard left over to the address of the fresh UN-IMPORTED paper wallet.
that way no hoards of coins remain in programs/cloud services.
here endith the lessons

What if I transfer the money directly to Mt. Gox. I just need a place for the money to sit until I want to trade it. Is Mt. Gox secure? If I wanted to put money into bitcoins for the longterm should I go with Mt. Gox or just purchase it straight out of My Wallet.
I trust Mt. Gox but keep most of my BTC offline on a pc & thumb drive that is not connected to the internet. If you send the cash to Gox you will pay the Bit Instant Fee and then the Gox trade fee as well as the Zip Zap fee. Less fees if you just send it to your wallet address. But not by much. If you want to be able to trade right away or at a moments notice (unless the Gox lag sets in) send it to Gox.

You can save yourself some time by using Coinbase and not having to wait for the verification at Gox and Dwolla. They just added an option to allow you to by pass their daily limit. They charge 1% so its cheaper than Bit Instant.
"Due to higher than normal buy volumes, we are unable to provide exact price quotes right now.
Instead of pausing buys entirely, we decided to give people the option to purchase bitcoin at the market price in a few days. Once your USD funds arrive, we will exchange them to bitcoin at the market price on approximately Friday Apr 5, 2013 at 06:47PM MDT.
Note that you can cancel your order at any time up until your bitcoin arrive from the transfer history page.
The market price of bitcoin changes frequently. Below are some recent prices to give you an idea. These do not guarantee what the price will be in a few days."
Your not locked in at rate until several days later but you can buy BTC quicker than waiting for verification at Gox & Dwolla plus trasnfer.

God is great, beer is good and people are crazy!

HALP! But really if some could. Many thanks. You can either have the deposit sent directly to Gox where you buy the BTC yourself or you can have Bit Instant take your deposit, and then convert USD to BTC and then they will send you the amount in BTC to your wallet address.

Exactly, and the easier it becomes for people to buy into BTC the more people will do it which in turn means my coins will be worth more Bahhaha!

Hey guys, please help me out here.
I made a blockchain account. Bought a few botcoin.
paired a device successfully after many attempts.
changed the account password to a good secure one. Several days later could not login. had no idea wtf....
paired Device could still do transfers though.... so made a new account and transfered the balance to the new account.
Transfer went through... fine, using new account for almost a week with the balance showing the whole time...
Then I receive an email from blockchain.info... "A transaction made through My Wallet has been removed from our database because it was taking a long time to be included in a block.. You may wish to try and make this transaction again, apologies for any inconvenience."
I log into my new account and the balance is zero... WTF? I thought transfers could not be reversed? why would blockchain show a full balance for so many days in the new address then revert it?
Problem now is I have no access to the old account and still have no idea why.
This is why I keep all my BTC in an offline encrypted password secured wallet on "my" hard drive that "I" control.

At this point they are now offering an additional service to the community. They charge less of a fee than Bit Instant and they don't require verification like Dwolla ->Gox. So after thinking about it I must applaud their decision to expand their business. I'm sure it was very bothersome for them to be turning down so many people the past few weeks. I for one have tried clicking the buy bottom 40-50 times in the past couple weeks and have yet to get through.

At least you can cancel the order up until it clears your account.
