The price, being a little fluffy at the moment, is susceptible to bad news. Bitcoin Central and/or Instawallet getting raided and losing everyone's money would cause a news splash and a crash, especially since it throws cold water on the "move your money out of banks and into Bitcoin" theme that the media is running with. It would be a great buying op, could take us down to $60. Otherwise, we're likely to continue this meteoric rise.

Unless the hypothetical thief dumps all his coins at once I doubt we'll see anything to crazy.  The fork issue was a MUCH larger test of bitcoin than this.

I'm not sure, this may be true for us in the know how bad a double spend is. I doubt the general population can even relate to what that problem is. They can however relate to "BITCOIN HACKED UNSAFE SELL!" as we've witnessed before. I still doubt a large effect, though.

EDIT: journalists own coins Wink

+1

And about the EDIT, yes, you can turn nearly everyone into a evangelical of bitcoin with vested interest, without even having to disclose, isn't that kinda sinister? Wink

I would prepare the price to settle down somewhere around here for a while, I mean, even if I were ridiculously optimistic, I still need time to plan for my life when money is no longer a problem right?

Anyone buying in at $100 needs to have patience and just sit on their holding and give it a chance.
Based upon 2012 growth rate, the target fx rate for end of 2013 was $50. Now maybe it will be $500 instead. However it just may dip back to $50 first. I hope not, but if it does, don't panic!

Did you regret it though? Tongue

I sold earlier and then bought back in @27.I would have had a whole lot more BTC if I knew about the Intersango fiasco.

Wow what a crazy April Fool's Day... Now Namecoin is rallying too, after Bitcoin and Litecoin hit new all-time highs.

I know this because Tyler knows this.

Namecoin, Litecoin, Poopcoin.  All scammer-coins that are trying to bring Quantitative Easing to BTC.

Why would anyone waste their time on anything but BTC? Namecoin and "poopcoin"... they are the path to the dark side!

Nah.  Namecoin makes sense.  It has a use-case that's different from and complimentary to bitcoin.

Litecoin?  What is that stuff?  Makes no sense to me.

Dankedan: price seems low, time to sell I think...

Not spending any time on it, but I've got a bunch of NMC from merged mining. Didn't seem worth selling at the time, so I thought just keep it.

If the trend is your friend:

Top out at $115.
Bears come out to play and price drops down to $95.
MtGox quits lagging and people buy up to $110.
