Well I know this is Bitcointalk not cryptocoin talk.

But other coins 🪙 have purpose and value.

This forum has shown a lot of anger an disrespect toward  other coins.

Myself included.

This hurts the forum as a person into Eth may simply see the forum’s title and not look at it all.

I don't think it's limited just to altcoins.  My Bitcoin projects receive just as much grief and disrespect in spite of generating insane returns for investors that blow away any traditional investments and innovating new use cases for crypto that remain far ahead of their time nearly a decade later.

The issue is a social one with the structure of this forum.  The attempt at a decentralized trust network has empowered those who want to spread lies and create alt accounts, while leaving honest members with a choice that they can look the other way at this behavior or have their trust negatively effected.  This crab in a bucket approach to trying to establish a trust network is one of the worst decisions I've seen a leader make and has directly impacted trading activity here as well as establishing a downward spiral in positive atmosphere.  If you speak out about these issues, you are ganged up on by the usual suspects, cast out of the DT network, and left with negative feedback from whatever made up story they push as the truth.  Until this horrible decision to empower trolls and scammers is rectified, this place can only trend in one direction...

Tyson Fury is such a unique fighter.  Every time he goes into a fight I think he's going to lose badly, but he always wins.  I saw a sports science episode on him I'll never forget.  The guy's ability to react and dodge fights is super human.  Literally, his response time is far greater than most human beings to the point it has allowed him to become an elite fighter in spite of some major flaws.  Given his appearance, I think his gifts catch opponents off guard and allow him to take advantage of their underestimation of him.  I don't think his style is a secret, so you know fighters are training for it, but seeing it in person is another story they can't really train for which is why I think it catches them off guard even when they are expecting it.
9203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much time will a laptop last? RTX 3060 on: February 10, 2021, 08:22:34 PM
So I watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC3f-5Agdpc about mining on a laptop with RTX 3060.

So how long will it take for the laptop to die?

That depends solely on the temperature of the laptop I assume.  It could probably make it a few years mining in someone's freezing cold garage, but likely wouldn't last a week in a typical mining space with high ambient temperatures.  I can't think of a faster way to get a laptop to destroy itself, so there's that...

I get that GPUs are hard to find and laptops with RTX 3060s are readily available, but purchasing one to mine with is a bad idea and a sure fire way to be that guy who lost money while everyone else makes fortunes from crypto.

I disagree, they all have at least a 1 year warranty. So you could mine for at least a year and certainly would pay off the laptop and then some. Then could sell it and turn a hefty profit.

People seem to have misgivings about laptops, mind you these gaming laptops were meant for high loads over many hours. Mining Eth wont put in half the heat that the CPU + GPU at 100% utilization would.

You are wrong, so I assume you have very little mining experience.  A 1 year warranty doesn't mean the laptop will last a year, it means after you burn out the laptop in a week, you can send it in for a replacement and after a great deal of waiting will eventually get another laptop.  When you also destroy that laptop, you might get some pushback on trying to get another warranty replacement.  If they do accept, you'll likely get a notice that this is your last replacement.  So you find yourself with a couple of dollars of ETH, no laptop for weeks at a time, no warranty, and likely on a path to destroying this laptop as well.  Given the lack of thought behind the purchase, I'm guessing it would be made using a credit card and you'll also be in the hole for interest and a long time of payments with nothing coming in from the destroyed laptop.

As for how I know you're wrong and have very little mining experience...  No miner who has ever operating a rig would think that playing games on your laptop would produce more heat than mining.  That's something a gamer would say who has experienced a hot laptop on their lap while gaming but never operated a miner.  So I guess I'm curious why you are giving bad information that you very obviously know nothing about.  Are you just trying to make posts here, or are you deliberately giving horrible information in an attempt to troll someone into destroying a laptop?

When Trump "lost" the election I thought this thread would die.  Then it came out that his supporters wanted him to run again in 2024 so I thought maybe there's a chance.  Now the democrats are impeaching and it looks like this thread may again get a definitive answer.  That is, until the next strange turn of events.  No matter how you look at it though, sitcom drama has made it's way to the White House and everything is right on schedule for our future Idiocracy.
9206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) on: February 10, 2021, 08:02:17 PM
I came across this article and it seems like the betting is whether the fight will happen or not, lol

Odds Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent Fight in 2021

I don't know what sites have offered this kind of odds, but it looks like betting nowadays are on anything, so crazy.

That is interesting.  I don't think there's any chance the fight happens at this point.  Mayweather saying it is a winner take all basically was his way of saying he won't fight, but it's because of 50 Cent and 50 Cent positioned himself like this was a media stunt to sell more of his books.

I am curious what real bets are available to us Bitcoiners about this fight.  Seems like a pretty easy call that this fight won't happen.  It was fun to think about though.  I want to see Floyd fight someone over 200lbs so bad...

Question:   First Team to get 20 Wins?
Lakers   - 18 (64.3%)
Sixers   - 3 (10.7%)
Celtics   - 0 (0%)
Suns   - 1 (3.6%)
Clippers   - 5 (17.9%)
Bucks   - 0 (0%)
Other   - 1 (3.6%)

Total Voters: 28

Thanks to 28 voters but nobody can guessed it right (maybe 1 person who chose Other but I don't think so Grin) and Utah Jazz (20-5) is the first team that get 20 wins in the league.
Lakers was also really close, they are 19-6. Both teams had 5 games winning streak.

That was a fun poll. Do you have any suggestions for new poll?

The Jazz have been on fire.  I'm glad to see Mike Conley redeem himself.  Last year I had high hopes for him but he pretty much fell flat and disappointed Jazz fans.  Seeing him lead the league in +/- this year has been great.  As once the highest paid player in the NBA, I felt like Conley was underperforming since the trade.  Glad that is no more.

Maybe a poll about which team will have the best winning % come the all star break?  That would open the poll back up just in time to vote on who might win the slam dunk or 3-point shooting contests, if they still have them.

What sort of leave them in suspense type of post is this? Saying you bet 5 BTC on a coin flip and then not saying the outcome seems like a troll move. Even if you’re making it up, we want to hear the rest of the story. Bonus points for outrageousness or evidence.
9209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 10, 2021, 06:50:02 AM
The New Orlean Pelicans shows some good defence in the early game which made them lead the score throughout the game. It is entertaining to watch the explosive Alley-oops by Williamson. He is just getting some improvement day by day by competing these guys. they are a few games away from getting to the top 8. they're winning straight games,

Great game by Pelicans they are now in the winning track and that is good to see, unfortunately their opposing team which is the Rockets are having a consecutive loses, Christian Wood is really a big loss for this team.

Quote
I hope they can at least force they way to top 8 or 7 because playoff games are different because the game is so intense as everyone is hungry to get to the NBA Finals.

It's still too early, they'll certainly get in the playoff spot if they'll continue to play with consistency.

They are at the number 10 spot now, (https://www.nba.com/standings)

It would be great to see Zion in the playoffs. I was hoping they’d make it last year but fell just short. They have a lot of talent on that team but they’re still very young. Even some of the players like Brandon Ingram that are considered their leaders don’t seem very mature. It would be scary if Lonzo’s shot kept improving and they held onto all their young guys, but I have a feeling that team will be making some moves soon to get more shooters around Zion.

I might suggest using x dollars per month to repurchase seats and use them for giveaways.

We have terminated seats we could use for the giveaways (if people wanted) so purchasing more for this purpose wouldn't be necessary.

whats the differenced between mint seats or just have the seats? Why the value are different? I were about to put my seats for sale... but it looks like no one is trading or buying them... soo i just hope some marketplace or even a buyback happens. I had read there is a big ammount in hands what will be done with that???

Minted Seats are seats linked to a coin.  When purchasing one a majority of the costs are for the silver content, minting, engraving, address generation, holograms, assembly, design, and shipping.  None of those costs are necessary for online seats, so they are obviously much cheaper and will receive the same share of distributions making them far more likely to have a greater return than their minted counterparts.

If the seats aren't selling at auction, I would say they are priced too high.  The problem here in my opinion is that those who believe in the organization think that seats will be worth far more one day, and those who don't believe think they are worthless.  This is a major gap between buyers and sellers that can only be bridged with time.  We are quickly approaching our 10 years of successful operation date, and at some point I would think all those screaming scam and Ponzi will eventually realize that they are wasting their time attacking an honest organization they should be supporting, while those who believe will continue being rewarded for doing so.

A buyback doesn't make sense to me at this time.  We want to grow the organization, not shrink it.  A buyback would immediately reduce the member count, and funnel our savings to those who want to abandon the organization instead of help it thrive.  Not what I want to achieve in either case.  A far more likely scenario would be sending our savings to nastyfans to be distributed to all seats, which may occur at some point if our savings continues to grow as it is already beyond what I'd be willing to manage as far as a mining operation.

Today's talk around the NBA seems to be that Lonzo Ball is likely to be traded to the Chicago Bulls.  I was sort of hoping to see him end up back on the Lakers, but if he wants to go to Chicago, more power to him.  It's gotta be tough seeing his little brother do so well in the NBA while he's considered to some to be a bust, although his shooting and numbers are looking better year after year.  Maybe he wants to get to a place where he feels he'll be able to do a little more for his team instead of being the 4th option.

I am looking forward to seeing the trade deadline fury of trades this year.  The Nets seem like they've got some more tricks up their sleeve and I'm still waiting for the Lakers to pull a rabbit out of their hat.  I sort of thought DeMarcus Cousins was going to be waved by Houston and picked up by the Lakers, but it's looking like that may not happen.
9212  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] 2012 CASASCIUS 1 BITCOIN UNREDEEMED on: February 09, 2021, 08:03:18 PM
Possibly in the not to distant future new accounts would have to send coin to a third party like MJ first for a no reserve auction.

That is what needs to be done in future, otherwise it's a waste of time and internet space for no reason..

The problem with that is the buyer is still having the trust sending massive amounts of value through the mail.  Face to face trades might further suppress the market value of these types of coins, but I don't see any other way to get it done.  Maybe someone should start a service where they fly around to pick up and hand deliver items like this...

For example, there's no way I'd sell extremely high value items without a lawyer present and me handing the coin directly to the buyer.

DRose can bring intensity to the whole team once he started to spark, just like an engine when got heated he's going to bring great performance.

I'm a DRose fan but we have to accept that there's no already spark in him. He is inconsistent for several seasons now and it's understandable. Feel sad for him that he ended up being traded for several teams. If there's a spark, then he won't be considered trading at all.

Knicks just accept the trade as maybe because DSJ doesn't really fit on their chemistry. That's the problem too why he was being traded from Dallas to Knicks. He's always acted as a leader even Luka is performing better. Maybe ego because DSJ was drafted first.

Rose was once an amazing player.  It's messed up what happened to him, but I am with you on the spark.  He's been checked out for a while now and while he did have that one game winner a couple years back where he put up a ton of points, those moments may all be in the past now.  I think he would have retired 5 years ago except his contract with whatever sponsor he had required him to be in the NBA and that contract dwarfs the amount of money he makes as a player now...  So it's a unique situation where the guy has to be in the NBA to keep getting his advertising payday, even though NBA teams are getting reluctant to even pay his relatively low player salary.

So it looks like this fight is going to happen before the Mayweather fight now?  I feel like the ground is crumbling beneath these weird 'celebrity' matches.  I sure hope we get to see some actual exciting matchups before this fad disappears into nonexistence.  I feel like Jose Canseco's pathetic dive knockout might have signaled the peak of this nonsense, but I sure hope we see some big 200+pounder get a crack at Mayweather before all is said and done.

I give merit away as fast as I can find a reason to do so.  Never once does competition for a signature campaign enter my mind.  I doubt that's much of a factor for any of the merit sources.  If it looks like they're meriting each other or their alt accounts excessively it likely has much more to do with their ego and feeling some sort of validation by having a higher score than anything related to a signature campaign.
9216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Super Bowl LV winner is... on: February 08, 2021, 09:32:51 AM
... is Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady won his seven super bowl, and it was a route actually, not even close. This time though, it was 50/50, his offense get them going, and then damn the defense really makes it harder for Mahomes to throw TD.

So there's no debate as to who is the greatest to lace a football uniform, as TB proves that at age 43 is he the greatest of all time.

Score is: 31-9.

I was surprised to hear Brady say he’s definitely coming back to do it again next year. That defense though... They made Mahomes look like a bad quarterback. He was struggling to get anything more than a couple yard gain all night.

I hope Gronk runs it back again with Brady. Was great to see them break the Montana/Rice TD record, although I’m guessing it took them many more games...
9217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Super Bowl LV winner is... on: February 08, 2021, 01:45:55 AM
Brady is having a hell of a game. Loving that Gronk caught the first TD as well. I wish the refs would stay out of it a little bit more, but hopefully we see a more competitive second half.

The half time show was extremely forgettable in my opinion. Seems the NFL still hasn’t recovered from the Janet Jackson incident.
9218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 08, 2021, 01:43:33 AM
I don't understand what it means about Frontcourt and the Backcourt of both conferences. Based on this site, Alex Caruso has a million votes in Backcourt of the Western Conference which is really surprising since he has more votes than other players that are also doing well in the season. He's not being talked about that much but this proves how great of a player he is if these votes are accurate.
IIRC, the top 3 players from the frontcourt list and the top 2 from the guards' list will play in starting lineup, and I think that information from your link is out of date because it's voting results for the previous all-star weekend.

Caruso is awesome. That guy does everything right even if it doesn’t show up in the stat sheet. He’s honestly one of my favorite players to watch and is a perfect compliment to LeBron on the floor.

As for the frontcourt/backcourt, I’ve hated that change since they made it a few years ago. The center position is real and it should be respected. There’s a very real difference between the positions of LeBron and Gobert for example, it makes no sense they’re in the same category.
9219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Super Bowl LV winner is... on: February 07, 2021, 11:03:39 PM
Minutes away from kickoff and it looks like the voting is tied. Get your votes in! We don’t need any Monday morning quarterbacks here. Pun intended.

I’m just hoping to see a great game and for everyone to be safe and happy. Have fun!

That's right, Super Bowl LV is today in a few hours.  Go ahead and vote on who you think will win, and feel free to give your analysis of the game.  Also guess the score and maybe you will win some good luck or something.  Bonus points for posting images of your Super Bowl feast.  Eat responsibly.  Have fun.  Go sports!

Will Tom Brady prove he's the Goat?  Any other interesting storylines?
