9221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core wallet spends BTC 0.07!! USD 4000!! to make two small dust sendings on: December 13, 2021, 09:34:29 PM
Running listaddressgroupings gives 5 addresses:

Blockchain explorer says about these 5 addresses:

1 address with Btc 1.00
1 with Btc 0.2262   The current value of this address is 0.22626603 BTC
1 address with 0.11000000 BTC
One empty
One empty
I found the same results for the addresses you sent me. For transparency, I'll quote myself here:
For privacy, I used my own list of addresses instead of Blockchair. This is what I get:

~list of addresses~

The gray ones are empty, the other balances are in satoshi. I don't know what happened to your wallet file, but if this is correct, you should try to get the private keys out.

I would try this in Console (starting with the lowest balance, just in case):
dumpprivkey <address>
DO NOT share the private key!

If there's a password on your wallet, enter this first:
walletpassphrase "passphrase" timeout
Quote
Examples:

Unlock the wallet for 60 seconds
> bitcoin-cli walletpassphrase "my pass phrase" 60

If you can get the private key, there are several options from there. If you can't get the private key, I'm not sure what's next to try.
9222  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 13, 2021, 07:34:03 PM
Damnit bitcoin.
I always wonder: Do they want people to panic sell to get their coins cheaper? Or do they want people to keep hodling so that they themselves can sell at a higher price?
I also wonder: who are "they" in the sentence I just wrote.
9223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Transactions fees Recommended default on: December 13, 2021, 07:07:03 PM
I didn't understand why you recommended using zapwallettxes
Back in the days, I used it to get rid of weird wallet problems.
9224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core wallet spends BTC 0.07!! USD 4000!! to make two small dust sendings on: December 13, 2021, 07:05:33 PM
I am now trying to send some BTC to the wallet.dat that was created when I sat up the latest Bitcoin Core on the brand new clean MacBook Air.

Once hopefully this Bitcoin reached this account I will try to make a send.
I expect this to work fine, assuming the problem is with your old wallet.

I have a lot of confidence in you. Would it be possible to share the public addresses just with you privately, and not on the public forum.
Feel free to PM me. Or just check the addresses on Blockchair.com instead of posting addresses.

- You helped a criminal to carry out his activity
- Police will easily reach you because the only one that used traciable payemnet method (for receive payement) was you
Binance Seizing Accounts will be the least of your problems indeed.

There are actually several (government) campaigns warning against this:
9226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core wallet spends BTC 0.07!! USD 4000!! to make two small dust sendings on: December 13, 2021, 06:49:25 PM
I get the feeling something's messed up in your wallet, and getting the addresses might be a good first step. Can you try the listaddressgroupings command tlistaddressgroupings command (click Window > Console)?
This should show all addresses in that wallet, which you can then check on https://blockchair.com/ to get their balance (if you're willing to reduce your privacy by sharing your addresses online).

9227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Transactions fees Recommended default on: December 13, 2021, 06:22:51 PM
Is that default ok for most "Send" transactions? Or does it have to be adjusted for most people, most transactions, for everyone?
Usually, the default is okay. At current fees, it doesn't matter much anyway.

Quote
Transaction Fees.
There is a default recommended 0.00004978 BTC/kvb Estimated to begin confirmations within 6 blocks.
That should be fine. That would mean about 0.00001xx BTC fee for one input and 2 outputs. Let's say about $0.50.

Quote
What does this really mean?
Should one go for 4 or 2 blocks?
It depends on how long it takes for the next block to be found. As an estimate: assume there's 95% chance it will confirm within 6 blocks, probably much faster.

However:
Quote
(I am willing to pay to get this done now, do not care about USD 20-50-100 transactions fees. Just want it done.)
I don't think fees are your problem. There's no need to pay USD 20 or more in transaction fees (and you should check the transaction fee before confirming the transaction), but it looks like you have a different problem. It may help to zapwallettxes your wallet (of which you should have several backups by now), but I haven't used that command in years so I'm not sure what the current best practice is.

Quote
Or is it better to go with Custom per kilobyte. Is there a risk with that?

Any advice appreciated.
My advice: don't bother about the fees for now.

Please refrain from changing [or inserting your domain name] the subject field when you're posting on someone else's thread!
OP can easily fix that:

I will post some screen shots (If I can figure out how to upload photos here)
Newbies can't post images, only links. You can use for instance imgur.com.
9230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amount to transact on lightning network on: December 13, 2021, 11:27:47 AM
is there an amount that the community agree on that's the limit I should use on lightning?
Usually, the Bitcoin(talk) community doesn't agree unanimously on anything Tongue

Personally, I base my choice between LN and on-chain on fees. At the moment I draw the line for making a LN-payment at less than 1mBTC (100,000 sat). Let me explain why: on-chain, 1 sat/vbyte is often enough, so I can make a transaction for less than 200 sat. With LN, I use either BlueWallet or Phoenix Wallet. The former is custodial and charges 0.3% to 1% in LN fees, the latter is only custodial when opening channels, and charges 1% with a minimum of 3000 sat to open a channel. That means, apart from other fees, a 100k sat transaction costs me up to several times more in LN than on-chain.
I can reduce my fees if I fund Phoenix Wallet using LN instead of on-chain, and at some point in the future I might switch to another LN wallet again, but for now this fits my needs.

Note that on-chain fees aren't always this low, so it doesn't hurt to keep some funds in LN. Funding a channel is much cheaper at 1 sat/byte than when fees are high. So I keep some funds on LN as an insurance against higher fees later on.
9231  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk Charity and its funds on: December 13, 2021, 09:19:10 AM
This is the main reason actually https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5124375.msg56017192#msg56017192, to prevent the loss of the btc value.
Allow me to quote the (unedited) post here:
-Just a Quick Update to all, Funds will be pulled out by escrow and will be converted to stable coin, as BTC keeps falling so we do want to take the chance not to gain loss and keep gaining for the sake of this charity and the people that needs it.
-Funds will go back to BTC as soon as it drops by 20k -25k
First, it's bad this isn't added to the OP. If someone wants to donate, they're not likely to read post #298.
Second, if a Bitcoin whale donated 1 Bitcoin, I assume they're long-term HODLers, which makes it likely speculating on Bitcoin dropping is not what they would have wanted (but this is just my own speculation).
Third, the post mentions converting funds to stable coin, it doesn't mention anything about splitting it to 3 people. I also don't think PHP classifies as "stable coin".
Fourth, Bitcoin did drop by 20k-25k between April 23 and May 19. According to the above post, the "stable coin" should have been converted back to Bitcoin. Note that Bitcoin at $44k at the time was still much higher than the $32k at the time of the above post. This nicely shows how bad "timing the market" can be.

I don't think it had break up the escrow agreement
What exactly was the escrow agreement? All I can find is this, which doesn't mention any terms at all:
This is bL4nkcode, and I confirm that this address 1CHAriTyyuCzLdXshSDVohyjgxTxW9Bhx is held by me and will be used as a donation address for Bitcointalk Charity Program https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5122205.0. Today 03/20/2019 PHT UTC +8
As an escrow, I think you're responsible for making absolutely sure up front how and when funds can be spend.

Quote
the split of the funds is agreed to make more activities and causes, not only from one person (cabalism) and one place (near on him)
The proper way to handle this would be to ask for funds from escrow each time a new charity activity was found and published in the thread.

Quote
that's why after the pull out of the funds, monthly activities had made.
If only there was a record of activities!

Quote
The transactions moves as per the request of cabalism or the beneficiary.
Wait, what? Why can the beneficiary ask for funds? How does that go? Like: "Howdy, I'm LoyceV, my address is in my profile!"? That's ..... weird!

Quote
- From escrow to my binance address -> binance p2p transaction (exchange to PHP fiat) -> my wallet (gcash) -> then send the amount eventually to beneficiary/cabalism account. OR from escrow -> my coins.ph account (exchange to PHP fiat) -> then send the amount eventually to beneficiary/cabalism account.
Without clear documentation, this sounds like a smoke curtain instead of honest documented trades. I've handled some user's funds, and when I do, I make sure I document every transaction up to the last decimal. You've been active as an escrow for years, how can this not be your default behaviour?

From my points of view calablism13 did not make a mistake by splitting the work load of the charity function, ~, what he did by extending other activities to other person is good from my perception
Splitting the work load is totally fine. Giving people (including the escrow who was supposed to protect the funds) carte blance is not.

I seriously regret I never got the chance to talk to them. Who knows, maybe one day.

I may be wrong for not updating the thread for I have been busy
~
I've been compiling this shitty proofs of yours despite of my busy schedule
~
I'm done here.
~
To cut it short, BUSY,...
~
My only mistake here is not updating and giving the proof and receipts
~
I wouldn't waste my time explaining more here.
~
I'm being put to a corner. yeah my bad for not having proofs still conscience is 100% clean from this.
~
only .4 BTC
You seem angry for being asked about the lack of transparency. I don't think that anger is justified.
Leaving the community because of this doesn't make your story look any better either.

I'm still curious to see "this shitty proofs of yours".
9235  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Exchange 5 BTC (pre-2016 wallet) on: December 12, 2021, 12:59:00 PM
Just curiuos to know what is the benefit for the bitcoin mined few years back as compared to the ones recently mined?
The price of both of them will be the same.

Why would anyone want old minted BTC  Huh
It could be tax fraud or money laundering. Someone else will pay the price.

You're posting this in the wrong topic, this belongs in Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed.
It's quite annoying to find plagiarism in a language I don't speak, but right after translating it was obvious it's copied so I took the challenge. Please check for plagiarism before reporting posts here, I stopped after the first entry in your list.

9238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Search statistics about necessary transaction fees within the next x blocks? on: December 12, 2021, 09:50:12 AM
This is what I use: hover your mouse on the right edge, and see how much data is waiting at each fee. At the moment I would use 1 sat/vbyte + a few sat. So for a one input one output transaction, I use 118 instead of 111 sat. And just in case, keep RBF as an option.

Note that fee estimates are based on past blocks, while the fee you have to pay is based on future blocks. It's always a bit of a gamble.
9239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin SV? on: December 12, 2021, 09:39:57 AM
For the "trust issues", the wallet is also open-source, so you can audit it (or someone else qualified).
Barely anyone can really do that, and it would take a lot of time. Running a VM is much easier.

But it should just display my Bitcoin SV like how BCH just appeared on electroncash after typing in my electrum seed right?
Probably.
Have you checked a block explorer yet? Lack of replay protection is serious.
9240  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk Charity and its funds on: December 12, 2021, 08:44:32 AM
the charity fund which was supposed to be on escrowed
I can imagine the fund got larger than expected, and I don't know if bL4nkcode ever held tens of thousands of dollars before. But if an escrow was promised to donators, I would expect that not to be changed, and I would expect full transparency on spending funds.

I'm surprised by this:
Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
This is bL4nkcode, and I confirm that this address 1CHAriTyyuCzLdXshSDVohyjgxTxW9Bhx is held by me and will be used as a donation address for Bitcointalk Charity Program https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5122205.0. Today 03/20/2019 PHT UTC +8
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNATURE-----
Version: Bitcoin-qt (1.0)
Address: 1CHAriTyyuCzLdXshSDVohyjgxTxW9Bhx

HBOx/qJMW8pST80sy8eDtGykrMc/Tk37l/T5p6AfuZkAdZ1+I3K7xc6+6R8z3BEsXNWEn3ahxJtXb5na1ST9GMg=
-----END BITCOIN SIGNATURE-----
This is not best practice in the escrow business, a message is supposed to be signed from a staked address, not from the escrow address itself. It's 2.5 years ago so it's probably okay by now, but at that moment anyone with access to bL4nkcode's Bitcointalk account could have posted that message.

cabalism13 is basically asking whether the donations should be played with by converting BTC-->whatever and trying to time the market.  That's tantamount to gambling with other people's kind gestures, and that isn't right.
Agreed. This is speculating:
Shall we convert it before BTC falls? and just convert it again when BTC has a low value again?

I'd say yahoo62278 is on the edge of making some serious accusations--I hope I'm wrong, but this whole thing smells kinda funny to me.
The lack of transparency is what makes it smell funny. A simple spreadsheet with donations and expenses could have prevented all this, and I would expect an escrow to require a clear overview. How else can the escrow approve expenses?

As for the Plan:

My wife is currently  a BOOKKEEPER on a Bank, and somewhat can create an account for the Charity (if not it will be under my name or my wife). And after that the Passbook will be transferred to bL4nkcode once again, so trust issues can be cleared.
Creating a bank account in one name and giving someone else access doesn't sound good (if not illegal).
