9241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale Sold at $12,000 After 2 Years HODLing on: August 26, 2020, 11:08:37 AM
Nice story about how you can make money by investing in BTC, but in this case it's about someone who was a rich man before the investment because 9000 BTC costs a lot even at a price of only $3000-$4000. While some will disagree that it should have sold now, or that it should have sold only a portion - it may be a strategic sale in anticipation of some new big dump or there is an intention to invest the money in something else.

Although the profit is very significant in this case, it should be taken into account that in the case of legal withdrawal, this person must count on paying taxes, which in some countries can be quite high. However, if the lucky person lives in some countries where there are no such taxes or investing in crypto is regulated in some other way, it is possible that he will keep all the profits for himself.
9242  Economy / Economics / Re: Some are hungry, some are losing their homes - some are doubling their wealth on: August 26, 2020, 10:32:29 AM
Thank you all for participating in the discussion. Of course, we do not all have the same opinions, which is completely normal, but I believe that every normal person sees the disproportion of the distribution of wealth and that 90% of the world's population suffers direct consequences because of it. Politicians and global corporations perceive people as a necessary evil and work to make them dependent on systems over which they have complete control. That will be hard to change, because humans have become a bit like robots doing what they are programmed to do.

However, for a start we have Bitcoin which allows us to be somewhat financially independent not only in transactions, but also to protect our values. It’s a good starting point to start changing the world, from choosing honest politicians to saying no to companies that exploit people and promote modern slavery around the world.
9243  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: YOBIT EXCHANGE SCAM peoples in YODA and DICE coins on: August 26, 2020, 10:09:41 AM
You can exchange those satoshis on other withdrawable coins...

I know most altcoins have very low withdraw fees, but honestly I’m not a fan of them and I’m willing to pay a much higher price just so I don’t have to play with them. As I said in a previous post, the only reason I visit that exchange sometimes is because I have some active referrals that generate passive profit for me - not much, but it would be stupid to leave it there.

I will definitely try to sell that DICE for anything, and if I can get some DOGE, I wouldn’t mind that Wink
9244  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lucius is signature spammer by dkbit98 ? on: August 26, 2020, 09:58:12 AM
I was fully prepared to bash Lucius when I went through the thread. In fact, that was my original intention: to present a devil's advocate in the presence of many consenting opinions.
There is nothing more to say about how Lucius handled the situation. It was the exact pace that I would have considered from someone that 'aims to curb spam' and it was the minimal number of posts required to stop the conversation.

I was almost certain that I wouldn't do well if you appeared in this thread - but I'm glad you decided to be objective and read the thread from which you made a completely logical analysis of what actually happened.

Perfect. Why this thread then?

Don't I have the right to open a thread once or twice in 5 years in this part of the forum? If someone in this case indirectly says that my posts are just filling in the signature quota it means nothing more than that I am a signature spammer - but as some others have noticed I have only responded to his false statements, so now I have become a spammer, and a liar who make fake claims.

But now that we're here, shall we address the irony of Lucius abusing the trust system by negging deisik for being a signature spammer? And now flipping out about someone implying he's a sig spammer himself? Kids these days.

I was wondering when you would pull this case out, and it's entirely justified that this feedback should have been neutral - but I still refuse to change it even though they kicked me out of DT for it and none of the DT members will give me positive feedback because I am trust abuser. But how many such trust abuse is given by DT members in past and even today, and I do not see anyone kicked out from DT for doing that...

In fact, I'm glad I found out what some members think of me, and that you completely agree with dkbit98 that I am posting in this forum only to fill my signature quota+that I am making fake claims+that I am just a kid.

I think you have already heard enough opinions on this topic and I suggest you lock this topic because everything has already been said and the future discussion will not bring anything new or bring something positive.

As I already wrote, I did not expect any support from the local board, and the fact that I was proposed as a moderator at one point means nothing - I left the local board because I received the same messages as in this case - posting just for fill my daily quota. Everyone just wants me to lock the thread, has freedom of expression got to the point that a few posts will destroy the forum?

Can I persuade you into changing this local rule? It looks better on you to allow the accused to defend themselves.

I know that it is not ethical to forbid someone to defend themselves, but it is also more than clear what both users meant in their statements - I honestly do not want to communicate with such people at all now or in the future.

Coolcryptovator, Stedsm , LTU_btc, The Pharmacist thanks for your posts.

I would like to hear the opinions of a few more people who normally appear in such threads - and then I will fulfill everyone's wish and lock the thread.
9245  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lucius is signature spammer by dkbit98 ? on: August 25, 2020, 03:52:46 PM
Creating a thread about someone and not letting them respond is quite nasty. I did that once to Quickseller (I think) and I still feel bad about it. Grin

dkbit98's advice in your trust feedback is spot on. Grow a thicker skin. Pretty much everyone with a paid signature gets called a sig spammer at some point. Creating a thread about it just proves their point.

This thread title though... made me think you're dkbit98's alt.

He has already said everything he had, why he would have to express his opinions here? I was interested in what others thought, and I'm glad that some members wrote their honest opinion without fear of getting such silly feedback as that little genius left me. Now after your post I believe others will be much more careful with their posts.

As for feedback, do you think something needs to be written literally to be said? What he was implying was that I literally spammed his thread with my signature to collect a couple of posts, but no one will say that I was just correcting his inaccurate statements which is why he reacted that way.

dkbit98 behaved quite irrational in that linked topic.
My guess would be that he is somehow affiliated with the cheap 1960's style hardware wallet. Therefore he sounded a little bit harsh whenever someone was criticizing it.
~snip~
So to answer your question: No. IMO dkbit98 simply is not fully in control of his emotions. Don't take it personal.

Thanks for the answer, anyone who wants to be objective can see the situation exactly as it is - I do not take things personally, but this is not the first time I experience the same from the same person, so I decided to react.

JeromeTash , Little Mouse, mocacinno , hacker1001101001 thanks for your posts.

Rikafip, I did not expect that you or any other member from Croatian local board will come here and support me against dkbit98 in any way, but I think I have the right, like any other member, to open a thread about anything - even if it seemed completely irrelevant to you.
9246  Other / Serious discussion / Re: 10 habits to maintain good health on: August 25, 2020, 02:01:47 PM
Living a healthy life is not easy at all, especially if you live in a big city that carries very polluted air, where healthy food is expensive and difficult to access, where the culture of eating unhealthy fast food is at a high level. Only those who live far from pollution, have access to clean air, water and land can create the conditions for a healthy life for themselves.

I try to lead a healthy life, grow my own fruits and vegetables, have access to clean water, do not smoke and avoid smoky areas, do not use any medications, use only natural cosmetics, move a lot - but again I think I am still far from a healthy life I really wanted.
9247  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: YOBIT EXCHANGE SCAM peoples in YODA and DICE coins on: August 25, 2020, 01:38:05 PM
I was a member of the Yobit Signature campaign in the past (not the last one) and then everything seemed quite OK - the payments were regular, the campaign quite undemanding. I admit that I was quite inexperienced then, but I guess even then a lot of bad things happened in the background, as is the case today.

From time to time I visit this page because surprisingly I still have some active referrals from 4-5 years ago, and recently I was surprised to see on the balance some DICE coin worth a total of 0.07BTC - there is only one small problem, there is no withdrawal nor does anyone buy it so I just picked up the referral earnings and paid an incredible 120 000 satoshi withdraw fee of which 70 000 ended up in YoBit pocket.

I personally would never make any deposit on that exchange - some might say that the whole thing is scam and probably this is true - but what I'm sure of is that it's a very dirty business and it's the crypto exchange with the most accusations for scam.
9248  Economy / Reputation / Lucius is signature spammer by dkbit98 ? on: August 25, 2020, 01:17:18 PM
I avoid this part of the forum as much as possible because I am not a person who enjoys endless discussions about someone’s reputation or similar things. I try to follow the rules of the forum and be as correct as possible towards other users, which I do not always succeed in, but I think that most people perceive me as a positive person on the forum (exceptions, of course, always exist).

What particularly bothers me is that someone calls me a signature spammer, because I have never been one and I have zero tolerance for such people. Although I do not pay much attention to such things, I have been in a similar situation many times as today, so I think I should react and point out the somewhat strange behavior of a user who indirectly called me a signature spammer. He of course shares the opinion of some other members of my local community who also used the same terminology when I was concerned.

I would ask members to visit this topic : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5265233.20 (https://archive.vn/lehNQ) and to tell me what they think of the member dkbit98 and his opinion that I am a signature spammer or his attitude in general when we speak of some solid facts?

Interestingly, the person in question shares an identical opinion with his colleague from the local board :

Atleast you filled your signature quote mr.Right

Drago mi je da ti pomaze u tvojoj CM tjednoj kvoti

Translated : "Glad it helps you in your CM weekly quota"

I know that there is great envy and contempt for those who are members of the CM campaign, and dkbit98 is applied in same campaign few times (unsuccessful) just like his pal btcltcdigger - but that does not give them the right to call other signatures spammers.

Question I want to ask the members of this forum: In your opinion, is Lucius a person who only meets his signature quota, which would mean that he is a signature spammer, or are user comments like dkbit98 completely unfounded and inappropriate?

Local rule : dkbit98&btcltcdigger are not allowed to post here - their opinion is already quite familiar to me.
9249  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Thoughts about Passport hardware wallet on: August 25, 2020, 11:02:24 AM
Who the fuck knows about Unihertz Atom?
Only you probably, as I never heard about it like most people.
What phone do you have? Is it Unihertz Atom??  Grin
And whats up with that 'wrong again' attitude?
o_e_l_e_o posted that comparison link before (not you personally mr. Right)

You obviously have some other problems besides imagining various cults and very negative reactions if someone unequivocally proves to you that you are wrong. First you claim that there are no smartphones the size of the Nokia 3310 - and I'll show you at least 2 such models that can be found by anyone who knows how to use the Internet.

Secondly if you claim that I wrote something then be sure that it is so, I am no Mr. Right - but neither am I o_e_l_e_o  or any other member - at least people in the crypto world should pay attention to details.

Without going further into the OT for me this discussion is over.
9250  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Fake Electrum version 4.0 and hardware wallets on: August 25, 2020, 10:51:45 AM
the change address is not verified by some hardware wallets so you could still lose money. ledger doesn't verify it for example.

I am almost certain that this was the case before, the user had to confirm both addresses before confirming the transaction. But Ledger has completely removed this feature in Ledger Live (it is not possible to see the change address at all) most likely because of those (including me) who played with those addresses in the Chrome Bitcoin App - and those addresses used to be far below the gap limit and Ledger didn't detect them at all (meaning not even the coins that were on them).

Only way to check change address in Electrum as UI for Ledger would be to click on Preview button where change address is displayed - and then go to console/type
Code:
ismine("YOUR_ADDRESS_HERE")
9251  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Report UK_GUY on: August 25, 2020, 10:21:11 AM
It's done.

Great👍, I hope this will deter anyone from trading with this scammer - because the warning will be seen by those who are not registered members - they unfortunately do not see negative trust, although I doubt it would help - some just do not pay attention to small details.
9252  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Thoughts about Passport hardware wallet on: August 25, 2020, 10:09:54 AM
I think you mentioned Nokia 3310 before,
That phone is smaller than most smartphones today, and I shoed image comparison.
I can always dig out brick from 1980 and say, here it is.

You're wrong again, my previous post is the first in this thread - I didn't make any comparisons or mention the Nokia 3310. Also, if we compare  Unihertz Atom (96 * 45 * 18 mm) with Nokia 3310 (113 mm × 48 mm × 22 mm) it is clear that this smartphone is almost identical to the old dummy phones like Nokia 33/3210.

And as for this new model of hardware wallet, I think that regardless of the look and price, there will always be those who will buy it - but somehow it does not seem to me that they will have much success. Many models have appeared over the years, but have failed to impose themselves in a market that is mainly focused on the two main manufacturers. Given all their problems, it's a little strange to me that no one is trying (at least seriously) to enter the market with some competing hardware wallet model - Passport definitely doesn't seem like that to me.

And the good thing is, it won't ever be stolen since it looks like a 20y old mobile  Grin Grin

Or those children's toys that imitate mobile phones and make various sounds - which means that the ideal place to hide this device is right in the box with children's toys🐱‍💻
9253  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 10000 visits to your site/blog only 6$ (Boost your google and alexa rankings)✅ on: August 24, 2020, 01:23:50 PM
Can't you see.
i obey the forum rules..none of my previous thread raising was even two times daily..each raising of thread is each one day.

welovedcrypto gave you good and correct advice, and although it is not disputed that you do not do more bumps within 24 hours, you also need to know that old bump posts need to be deleted, which you obviously don't do.

13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours per thread. Bumping multiple threads at the same time is allowed if it's not annoying. [2][e]

21. Old bumps should be deleted. [2]
9254  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Thoughts about Passport hardware wallet on: August 24, 2020, 01:13:26 PM
You can try as much as you want but you can't find small smartphone anymore, they are all big and larger than Nokia phone shown before.

They may not be as small as before, but there are some that are quite small (twice the size of today's standard sizes).
PalmPhone - 3.3-inch display or even smaller Unihertz Atom - 2.45-inch display

I won't go more offtopic but there are some people here who are in love with their Ledger hardware wallet   Tongue  and I won't name them.
If there are some mistakes and flaws people should expose them here, that is why forum exists.

I’ve never hidden that I own Ledger HW, but that doesn’t mean I’m in some cult as you constantly imply it - nor is anyone else overly aggressive in defending that company. Every omission and vulnerability should be made public and discussed - but no big dramas should be made about some things that are not critical. In my opinion, Ledger has definitely gone in the wrong direction, and there is no doubt about it - but there is no documented case of someone being hacked because a vulnerability, which is the most important thing for me as a user.
9255  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Report UK_GUY on: August 24, 2020, 10:52:00 AM
I support flag against this scammer, but I guess it need more members (maybe DT) to show red warning above his thread?

Vasa211, joelitoup, versandbtc1 you should use private messages here on forum and not some social networks where it is possible to delete messages. Trading with people who have self-moderated threads, have no reputation on the forum and without the use of escrow is the perfect way to lose money.
9256  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 5 reasons I see $100k in next 2 years on: August 24, 2020, 10:33:42 AM
1.Governments and central banks trying to destroy Bitcoin.

Exactly how they destroy it? Maybe because the laws are starting to allow them to do business with crypto (EU&USA)? If you believe in conspiracy theories, then this makes sense - the banks will take possession of most of the BTC and then burn all the private keys Roll Eyes

5.The 2020 economic crisis might end in 2021.This is just a suggestion.

Sure, but only in a fairy tale with a happy ending - the economic crisis has not really even begun, and it will last for years. Crashing happens easily and quickly, but recovery is always a slow and time consuming process.

6.The BTC halving is gone and it doesn't have any impact over the Bitcoin price.

Completely beginner comment, where were you in 2016 if you already missed 2012? Halving has no immediate impact on price, effects can be expected in 2021/22 - and fact that rewards are cut in half (900 new BTC per day) will certainly not be without effect.

$100k in next 2 years is quite a realistic and achievable number, especially if the investment of companies like Grayscale/Square continues as is the case in Q1/Q2 2020.
9257  Economy / Economics / Re: Warren Buffet bought “Gold” for the first time. When Bitcoin? on: August 24, 2020, 10:06:04 AM
Some people obviously don't understand Bitcoin, some have a hard time understanding gold - but at least they could read the title or the OP and avoid to write nonsense that WB bought physical gold which is completely untrue. He bought a single share in Barrick Gold worth $565 million, which is still a big difference for those who think that a man buys gold bars and puts them in a vault.

If WB miraculously invested in Bitcoin, then he would probably buy shares in a crypto company - that's his way of doing business, after all.
9258  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Archer v. Coinbase "Not your keys, Not your coins" on: August 24, 2020, 09:30:07 AM
If Coinbase has made it clear that it will not allow its clients to take possession of BTG after the fork, then why the lawsuit at all? It is still not clear to some people that what is in the custodial wallet is not 100% theirs, but that they have given their property to others for safekeeping. This comes at a price not only in terms of the possible loss of these funds, but also in situations like this where someone wants to profit from the Bitcoin fork - and doesn't even realize that the way he stored BTC is completely wrong.

I have access to my PKs, but I’ve never even tried to get to all those forks (except BCH) because I consider it just bad copies, which don’t even have any value (unless you have hundreds of BTCs).
9259  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What are the risks of mobile wallets? on: August 24, 2020, 09:15:36 AM
If someone wants maximum security when using mobile crypto wallets, in my opinion one of the safest options is that such wallets are used in combination with hardware wallets. Of course, this requires an additional cost in the form of buying an extra device - but it actually gives us a lot of security because private keys and all important operations take place outside the mobile device.

Although if the tips given by other members are applied, the mobile device can be a fairly secure way to store crypto - emphasizing that it shouldn't be large amounts, because despite all the security measures it really doesn't make sense for me to have thousands of dollars worth of BTC on mobile device.
9260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: key safety strategies? on: August 23, 2020, 01:59:20 PM
I recently had a scare with the ledger hardware wallet update and a windows 7 computer.
Got it sorted but made me plenty nervous.
I will go for months without checking, and generally uninstall the ledger app from my devices.

It's been a long time since Ledger doesn't support Windows 7, and it's no wonder you've had problems with the firmware update - you're happy if you've managed to complete it successfully. What you should do is leave that now obsolete OS, it has become a thing of the past and will only create problems for you with Ledger. If you want to continue using Windows I suggest you do an update to W10. Your private keys will be safe in your hardware wallet as long as you keep your backup safe.

Hmm. You're supposed to check the seed a few times after writing down, to be fair. Doesn't Ledger prompt you to read the seeds again to verify if you've written it down correctly? It shouldn't be that big of a problem if you're supposed to verify it again in the first place.

Ledger has something called Recovery Check app, but it is always desirable to perform a good old method to reset the device after the initial setup, and check if the same addresses are created after recovery.
