9341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who runs Tether? on: July 28, 2017, 01:04:34 AM
I am not sure if this is correct but I reckon Bitfinex is the backer of Tether. If you have tether-fiat then Bitfinex the exchange has the responsibility to convert them to real fiat if you choose to. Whether they really hold all the fiat to support all tether-fiat is wholly another topic.

9342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: July 28, 2017, 12:46:45 AM
@cicciobtc. The FIA has also made stricter impositions on the oil burning issue that has been supposedly giving the Mercedes team an advantage in qualifying. I will bet on Sebastian and Kimi to be on pole if there are good odds available.
9343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-04-23: update to 0.9.12.0] on: July 27, 2017, 01:37:49 AM
Hey guys !

Have you checked SUMOKOIN ? it is a new XMR fork and it looks promising too like AEON  Grin
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1905086.0

4 core devs and only 300k dollars marketcap, it may be a good coin to invest in to hedge your portfolio, I own both AEON and SUMO btw
Devs are planning really great things on Sumokoin roadmap, give it a look

Hope both coins will show good things in the future

Who are these 4 developers who forked Monero and why did you include a 10% premine in it? As the way things are today, a premine is never a good thing anymore. It shows the intentions of the developers that they are just in this to enrich themselves.
9344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SUMO] SUMOKOIN - 🔏 Digital Cash For High-Confidential Transactions 🔏 on: July 27, 2017, 01:33:40 AM
Hello sumoshi. Who are the developers of Sumokoin and what are their credentials and past work before working on this cryptocoin?

I would also like to know why do a fork of Monero? Why not start your own from scratch?
9345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 27, 2017, 01:23:12 AM
It is nice to see that Aeon's ally in the cryptospace is again having the attention of everyone right after the fall of the biggest darknet market.

I request that some of you Moneroids help us the Aeonites. Our kingdom is under attack by botnets and our coins is dumped in the market. We need the support.
9346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Poloniex down? on: July 27, 2017, 01:16:36 AM
I have no problems here also. Try using a proxy and go to the site. But do not log in, just check if maybe there is something is wrong with your connection.
9347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: July 27, 2017, 12:25:08 AM
The FIA has imposed stricter rules on the oil burning issue during qualifying limiting the use of the strategy that has been giving Mercedes the advantage. I speculate the Ferraris to be on pole and 2nd in Hungary.

FIA are making the Formula more boring and boring every year in past 10. I agree with you and I don't know why they are backing Mercedes, even unofficially. 5 years ago I was in front of TV every Sunday to watch the Formula. Now... once in a month or two.

No. The new owners are trying to make formula 1 a more engaging sport. This year with the new car specifications we have seen faster races and the breaking of speed records in racing tracks.

What do you mean they are backing Mercedes unofficially. I did not say anything about that.
9348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop all the ICOS now! SEC is coming! on: July 26, 2017, 02:13:52 AM
So to be clear... they define that some ICO's may be considered securities.  Not all of them.

The vagueness is what should worry everyone. All ICOs should take this as a warning to be compliant if they have a real project and the rest of the projects that are scams should stop.

Exchanges based in the USA should also start delisting the tokens that they know are scams or else they can be shut down too.
9349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEC ICO Enforcement on: July 26, 2017, 02:09:00 AM
Get VPN and then who cares, do whatever you want

This is bad advice. The SEC is already giving fair warning to all the ICO founders. Be compliant or they will be accountable to go to prison. This does not signify well if you are an ICO investor because the price might go down. Cryptocoin exchanges will also be accountable.
9350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: July 26, 2017, 01:57:24 AM
This does not look good anymore. The lower trend line has been broken and I speculate we might see Aeon go down to 10k satoshis before the end of the year. Good luck to us loyal supporters and bag holders.

Where is American Pegasus? He is the only light in this time of darkness.

9352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion on: July 26, 2017, 01:17:41 AM
It is good to see that there are many more Game of Thrones fans here! What do you think of Cersei dying in the end of the season? I reckon that it might happen but not in the reason we think how. I predict Jaime will kill her because he really wants the power all for himself.

@Hydrogen. Sansa is not a damsel in distress anymore. For the past 3 or more seasons she was using her perceived innocence to survive.
9353  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-07-24] 'Unrealistic': BIP 91 Creator James Hilliard On 2MB Hardfork on: July 25, 2017, 01:13:16 AM
I reckon that the miners can still pull of from activating Segwit and revert back to the software they were running before signalling BIP91. If the 2MB hardfork is unrealistic then what incentive do the Chinese miners have in the NYA agreement? Nothing.

Already, Segwit2x developer Jeff Garzik is marshaling the charge toward this milestone. But, Hilliard is concerned about this approach. For example, he believes Segwit2x's three-month timeline is too short to say the least.

"Three months for a hard fork is completely unrealistic," he told CoinDesk, adding:

"Even coding it and getting some level of testing on it, let alone deploying it… I mean, that's pretty difficult."

Many other developers argue that there's little chance a 2MB hard fork can be safely executed safely in three months, since it's a change that could lead users to lose bitcoin if not implemented correctly.

What a good episode!

Spoiler Alert

Daenerys lost her fleet of ships to Euron Greyjoy when they were on their way to attack King's Landing. Meanwhile the Unsullied or on their way to Casterly Rock to lay siege on the home of the Lannisters. That battle will be in episode 3!

About Demian Maia versus Tyrone Woodley, does anyone think Demian has a chance here? After 2 not really that good title defenses I reckon this 3rd one will be the one that will finally make him lose.
9356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather Vs McGregor: Info and prediction thread on: July 25, 2017, 12:39:40 AM
I watched highlights of Floyd's last fight with Andre Berto 2 years ago. Floyd looked slower, less technical and less athletic. He looks like he's getting old and his skills are deteriorating. Not certain if that will factor into his fight with Conor. Floyd admitting he's not as good a boxer today as he was 2 years ago.

We may have a better idea of how good a boxer Conor is after he spars with Malignaggi.

You may want to take a lot at want Paulie says sparing with Conor:

After sparring with Conor McGregor, Paulie Malignaggi says ‘there’s a method to Conor’s madness’

Those thinking that Conor McGregor and his team of coaches are just winging it heading into his massive boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. are mistaken, according to Paulie Malignaggi, McGregor’s newest boxing sparring partner.

Malignaggi said Friday night in an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that pundits who might think McGregor is treating this as just a money grab are very wrong.

“He’s got a game plan behind it,” Malignaggi said. “It’s not what people think. There’s a game plan behind what he’s doing. There’s a method to Conor’s madness.”

https://www.mmafighting.com/2017/7/22/16013890/after-sparring-with-conor-mcgregor-paulie-malignaggi-says-theres-a-method-to-conors-madness

Well everybody has a gameplan, .... until they are hit in the face.

That is the problem. Floyd Mayweather also has a plan until he himself is also hit in the face. They are both human but Conor is stronger, bigger and in his peak while Floyd is older and he is risking himself to lose for the first time against a nonboxer of all people.

Does this mean MMA is better than boxing?
9357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which new altcoin I should invest in? on: July 25, 2017, 12:28:26 AM
It is all gambling at the end of the day... having said that.

bitbay - talk to the dev then decide

blocknet - research hard and see if you like it first - huge potential but taking forever to get this out.

-------------------------------------------------------------

coval - risky but i decided to get a bit - hard to find good info but there was some promising snippets

cloak - seems to have some good people coming on board. got a little bit not 100% sure

xby - intersting but not sure yet

cbx - like their new road map

quark - big one that went to shit have a new team I have a bunch and accumulated more lately - risky but may be worth more research

sys - another possible interesting one.

pivx - another good one but I sold too early

Then those are maybe the worst gambles you could make in the cryptospace. What are your profit exits for each and how long are you planning on holding them?

You have been here longer than most of us yet you still give us bad investment advice.
9358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which new altcoin I should invest in? on: July 24, 2017, 01:10:35 AM
@moneyLooser. Be careful with all the advice and the suggestions given here. Most of us in the cryptospace are not qualified to give you investment decisions and have no way to prove if a project's idea is technically possible.

Your username might become you for real if you follow misguided suggestions here.
9359  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-23] Between a Rock and a Hard Fork: Jeff Garzik's Plan to Avoid a Split on: July 24, 2017, 01:06:50 AM
Is Jeff Garzik the new lead developer of bitcoin now? What will happen to the core development team? Will they still play an important role in bitcoin's future or are they considered out and replaced by Jeff and his team?

These are very important questions that everyone should start asking.

LOL, no.

*facepalm*

These are very misguided questions that only people who don't understand open source development should be asking.  Bitcoin doesn't have a lead developer in the same sense that it doesn't have a CEO.  Development teams can and do indeed have lead developers, but Jeff Garzik has not suddenly been appointed lead developer of Core.  No one replaces anyone or anything.  And obviously Core will still play an important role in development.

Both Garzik and Core are entirely free to do what they want and they can all have their own ideas about how to move forwards, even if they're quite different.  But at the same time, just because the teams are separate entities, that doesn't then preclude them from working together either.  As an example, one of the Core developers was helping to identify issues in the BTC1 branch and BIP91, even though that wasn't Core's idea.  Such is the nature of open source development, anyone can chip in and help out where they want.  The only thing that matters is that we get solid code at the end of it.

Ok, thank you for the clarification. Is it possible that if the majority of miners and the community started following Jeff Garzik, and installed his implementation of bitcoin, then they become something like the new main development team?
9360  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-22] Cryptocurrency is in Dire Need of Appropriate Exchange Regulation on: July 24, 2017, 01:03:08 AM
@cpfreeplz. Yes, that is why I hope when regulations finally have arrived, the technology for decentralized exchanges and other platforms like Openbazaar already have improved by that time. We will be free to trade the way we want without government disruption.
